What I asked for I got it tendered ribs that fell off the bone season just right beans and potato salad excellent and can't say no more you have to try them out I will be back no doubt

I've been wanting to try Boxcar out for awhile and wow! I've been missing out on some very good barbuce the links also I had to say something to the owners they were very nice people told them this is my Kitchen from Heaven. Pleasent atmosphere with good food that is hard to find now days.

This place is the definition of a Texas BBQ joint! Reminds me of the old meat markets that used to be so prominent! Service was absolutely outstanding, the place was nostalgic, and the sliced brisket, beans, and coleslaw were delicious!

Best bbq around!!!! I have been going to bodacious since I moved here and it was ok and then my sister told me about this place and good lord the food is delicious. My only complaint was the staff they look so unhappy like they were just going through the motions.They were not very welcoming at all and it was uncomfortable. Still will go back food is just that good!!!

THE BEST BBQ IN THE AREA. If you havent been there, you gotta GET THERE. You will not regret it. Fall off the bone meaty ribs, fresh brisket, sausage, their sause is sooo good you can drink it. And its cut up right in front of you. Reasonably Priced.

I am from the lockhart,austin area. This is the closest to my home town BBQ flavor I have found in East TX. My daughter loves the ribs, And the customer service is great.

Food was great. Portions for sides are little small considering they serve sides in 2oz souffle cups but nevertheless, tasted great. I ordered the 3 meat plate and chose brisket, sausage, and ribs. If I had to rank the meats I chose, 1. Brisket (had the perfect bark, fat, meat ratio) 2. Ribs (My order came with two ribs that left me wanting more) 3. Sausage (It's good sausage🤷‍♂️lol) 10\10 will dine in again for sure. The man dressing the plates seemed like he was on a serious mission to serve some deliciousness and you don't see that kind of determination very often. I'd have added a photo but my appetite got dibs before my camera. 😁🙌 Thanks again guys!

They have great Pittsburgh hot links, and boudin links which are my favorite, on the daily along with other foods that are very good briskets, ribs ,their homemade baked potato salads ,macaroni and cheese the food is delicious.

Good place to eat in or carry out. We have to drive 70 miles round trip to eat here but it's worth it. We have started buying 2lbs of chopped beef and take it home and eat. The leftovers are then vac sealed and frozen, for future meals. It works out great for us.

Exceptionally good BBQ! You'd be hard pressed to find any better anywhere around here. The brisket was tender, the ribs were moist and practically fell right off the bone, the chopped beef was really flavorful, and the warmed up BBQ sauce they bring to your table was excellent. Also, the cole slaw, beans, and potato salad complemented the our meal perfectly. This was our first visit but we will definitely be going back. Highly recommend this place if you're ever hungry for some great BBQ.

The absolute best barbecue at a reasonable price. I had a hankerin for their monster sandwich, but after a busy day, they had run out of turkey and hot link. I ended up getting a melman with regular sausage and it did NOT disappoint! Just as satisfying and flavorful as the monster and piled high with chopped beef and sausage. Plus they’re not greasy like most other bbq joints, just moist and tender. Their sauce is sweet and tangy, perfect. And some of the best potato salad and cole slaw I’ve ever had, better than grandma’s! Sometimes they have this strawberry cake as well that could melt your heart, and the slices are huge! Their service is speedy and their employees are helpful and kind. All in all my favorite spot to get a hearty bite!!

Been eating here since I moved in 2017. I know bodacious BBQ is a staple in the area but I go here instead. I like the flavor of the meats better and I also like the BBQ sauce more. Don't sleep on the desserts either. Everything here is good.

Looking for some good Pittsburgh links? Boxcar BBQ is the best. The links are amazing and not filled with grease. I like the ribs and potatoes salad to. The staff is so friendly and always welcoming. So glad they are right down the road and we no longer have to make the long trip to the Southside of Longview to get some good BBQ at a reasonable price. Highly recommend!!

This place has the most juicy, flavorful, Tasty and tender brisket. I have not had this good of a serving of brisket in over 10 yrs. when I went to Lockhart to get barbeque. Small, down home place with a great fragrance when you walk in the door. Server was pleasant and our order was processed very quickly. They brought our order to our table. It doesn't look like much, but it is clean and has old time appliances on display. Almost looks like one of those 50's barbeque joints. Great atmosphere. This is indeed a hidden gem. I am telling you, if you live within 100 miles of this place, drop everything and go there NOW. I only had the brisket but they also have ribs, turkey, and beef. Well worth the trip. I might make a special trip in the future just for the brisket. I cannot emphasize enough how good of a place this is to visit and eat.

Excellent casual BBQ Place with quick and friendly service. The beef is amazingly tender and the boudine and mac'n'cheese is excellent. The BBQ sauce is just right, not too sweet or too tangy.

I tried the Flying Pig sandwich. Very juicy and tender turkey with just the right amount of spice added from the chopped up hotlink. The sauce has a mild vinegar taste. Attentive service and clean dining area. I'll be back soon.

I've had the chopped beef, brisket, and sliced turkey. They are all tender and juicy. If you were not satisfied with the food you probably ate under the previous owner. Give them a try you won't regret it.

I had the sliced beef sandwich and was so impressed that I grabbed a pound to go with a couple of sausage links. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good BBQ.

Previously rated this business but didn't explain what's so great about them. By far Boxcar has the best barbecue around! The owners are very professional and customer friendly making you feel at home. This is the only place I will ever eat barbeque, love the brisket!!!

Best chopped beef sandwich I've ever had.

We came toward the end of the day and they were almost completely sold out of prepared barbque. We got brisket and chopped beef; both were good. Their Mac and cheese is also tasty, as is their cole slaw and their baked potato casserole. Great place to pick up barbeque in that area of town!

I'm visiting from san antonio, never been here before. I Saw a big BBQ sign and turned around to come try a chopped brisket sandwich. Girl at counter was super helpful and I ate every bite! BRISKET AND SAUCE IS AMAZING.

The wife & myself been in Longview almost 8 years. We stopped in for 2 / 2-meat plates takeout here for the first time. We both got brisket & ribs, coleslaw & beans and it was awesome. I've tried other bbq places and they just weren't satisfying so I've been very skeptic about getting bbq again anywhere. We will definitely be back, I want to try the turkey 🦃.. Okay, im born and raised in Texas and this place has some of the best bbq and sides. Way better than bodacious. Get the baked potato casserole.

Was in the area and wanted some good Bar BQ. Found this place on google and decided to give it a try. Was not disappointed. I got the Mel-Man a beef and sausage chopped sandwich. And my wife got the sliced. Both sandwiches were delicious. The Bar BQ sauce is kept warm and has a rich and tangy flavor without being overly much. The beans were much the same with a smoked flavor that was just perfect. Also had the potato salad that was good but much the same to other places. The Cole slaw on the other hand left a lot to be desired. It was over onion flavored that just made me feel like I was eating a raw onion. The staff was delightful and funny and the environment is much a dive spot but so good.

Typical dive BBQ atmosphere, but the brisket was great! We had the $9 chopped beef sandwiches, and they were not greasy at all. Add your own sauce and condiments at the table.

Have visited Boxcar BBQ several times. Generally have the sliced brisket and boudin. Brisket has always been moist and tender and seasoned perfectly; boudin is always fresh and flavorful. It's a no frills place with outstanding food. I enjoyed it immensely. I'll be back.

Good atmosphere and selection of meats and sides. Great food for a fair price. I can't stop eating the smoked turkey; it is literally the best I have ever had. The beef and sausages are excellent too. I haven't had anything that was less than excellent in several visits.

Not only was the service great! The food was really good. Meat was tender and juicy. The sides had flavor!! The restaurant is older but clean! And that’s the important part! Now let’s talk about the BBQ sauce. It was not as tangy as some other BBQ places. It made up for that with flavor. The soft but powerful flavor was perfect for my meal! Past this place many times to go to Carters on 259. Finally stopped in. Brisket was very good tender juicy and seasoned well. The smoked Pittsburg hotlinks are very very good. No small servings here like Bodacious. The staff was nice and place was clean. Wish I had stopped in sooner

We were looking for a good barbecue place when we came to town. I saw pictures of Pop Watch here on their website and had to come by, we sure miss his videos. We had the chopped brisket sandwich and rib sandwich with Mac and cheese and beans. All of it was delicious 😋 I love the warmed barbecue sauce . Oh and they were playing 80s country music on a radio station, it was so nice to sit and enjoy great food and music. And a big YES , we will be back.

Sandwiches are great! They are a generous size and the meat is delicious & tender. We order the chopped beef sandwich and split it. It’s enough for my wife & I. The serving size on the sides are small, and for that reason I don’t recommend getting a plate. Everything that we have tried is very good.

Went here yesterday for a quick business lunch and recommended going here for a quick bite to eat. Ordered the Mel-Man, chopped beef and sausage, sandwich. Great smoke flavor on the meat. The portion size was appropriate for the price. Added some of their bbq sauce, not sweet at all, with onions/pickles/jalapeños and chowed down. Will be back next time I'm in the area to try something else on the menu.

My wife and I have recently moved into this neighborhood. I have past by this little BarBQ place several times and I decided to drop in on the way home. My wife judges BarBQ by her favorite sandwich: sliced beef no sauce on a bun. "Very tender. Very good." She also liked their carrot cake...I did too. "No raisins! Very good." I had seen boudin on their menu board. I had not had it in a very long time! Very good! You won't be disappointed here!

They have really good food, I love the boudin, I would have given it a 5, but this Last time I visited Boxcar my boudin wasn't fresh like the other times. I drive 3 hours away for they food. Try the ribs and the melman and baked potato salad.

They we're sold out of all meats when we got there with the exception of ribs, and sloppy Joe sandwiches. We got the sloppy Joe, and baked potato salad. The sloppy Joe was average and didn't have much meat at all, but the baked potato salad was delicious! We will be going back earlier in the day sometime to try the brisket, or chopped beef...and to get more of that potato salad!!

Ordered sliced brisket sandwich, nice portion, great smoke. BBQ sauce is unique and tasty as well. Only reason they lost a point was for the "chocolate pie". It tasted fine, but it was chocolate pudding and cool whip with Graham cracker crumble. Could we call it something else, maybe? Chocolate parfait? It was a giant portion though, so I split it with the table. I'll be back!

I liked everything except the brisket. It was dry. It seems like it might be better as a sandwich where the sauce can save it. The boudin and ribs were really good though and the beans were some of the best I've had. The potato salad was light on the flavor, but not bad.

Decent BBQ and definitely worth a try. Would highly recommend over a lot of other BBQ places in the area. Simple menu with some nice twists on some of the Sandwiches, like the Monster, Flying Pig, and Mel-Man, that mashup a few different meats. The atmosphere and staff is laid-back and friendly. Not too expensive and get a good portion for the price.

Was excited to try this place for the first time after years of seeing it and not stopping for whatever reason and was a bit underwhelmed...The flavor of the ribs was good but not worth the $8 for 4 small ribs and the drive to the outskirts of town. Bodacious on Mobberly gives 5-6 and they are a little more hospitable.

The brisket had a lot of fat on it. The pound of beef I got last night ..over half was fat. I was very surprised it wasn't cut off. The outside of the meat with the seasoning was very hard. Tough to chew. I feel like the flavor was there mostly. Traditional potato salad and beans ok.

I bought sloppy joes to go and they weren't good this time around. I don't know what's happened, but they were flavorless. The atmosphere seemed cold; the workers are usually friendly and talkative, but not today. They seemed stressed. Maybe it was an off day.

I've been wanting to try them for awhile now, but I was definitely disappointed based on the reviews and my order. I got the 2 meat plate, but the ribs were so salty and I got a lot of fat with the brisket. The baked potato salad was overly loaded with what taste like mayo to me which I was not expecting since it didn't mention it on the Waitr site, and the beans are very salty as well. I'd be willing to try again just maybe in person is more the way to go. It did arrive very quickly tho.

The food was great, the reason I give 3 stars is because when I arrived they were out of half of their meats, including brisket! It was around 1pm. I recommend arrive early if you want to have full menu options. Beans were yummy!

I had company coming and I ordered ribs brisket and sausage to pick up and take home. I obviously did not get their best meats. It was embarrassing everything was very fatty. Landed up throwing it in the trash and going to bodacious. When I ate there everything was fine but not for a pickup to take home. Sorry we were very disappointed. Haven't been back since.

Good enough, but neither good or great. Don't come if you are hoping for flavorful smoked meats. Most noticeable flavor was salt.

Ribs tasted like they had freezer burn and were tough as a boot. Hot links looked store-bought they were heated up in the microwave. Beans were OK but tasted like they came from a can. Baked potato salad was cold and loaded with some kind of mayonnaise. Couldn't finish it.

I am so disappointed! I just got the brisket plate and have never in my life had brisket so dry it crumbles. I love brisket and have had some phenomenal brisket in my lifetime and some not so great but this was actually terrible. I have tried to eat it but am now going to feed it to my dog. I gave them 2 stars for the pinto beans and the baked potato salad but that's all. Such a disappointment.

Turkey sandwich & 1/2 dozen Pittsburg links. Turkey & links were both good but you could barely find the turkey in that great big bun. Way too little meat for the money. Links were good as well. They are just way too overpriced for the amount of food you get. Sorry but I'll take the extra money id spend & make the cross town trip to Carters. One sandwich there would fill up both of us. Very disappointed. Had high hopes that we would finally get a good barbecue joint in Springhill. To be fair though, if you have plenty of money & a small appetite, this is the place to go

The food is really delicious but we were disappointed with the size of the servings ...sides came in little paper cups and we expected a bigger serving of the potato salad ( really yummy ) ,baked beans...service was excellent. The woman who brought our food to the table was very nice and brought the plastic utensils to us... and it cost us alot for the small orders. . ..

I love this place and have been getting BBQ for a long time, always great. I stopped by Monday around 1pm to get ribs and sliced beef. The ribs were great as always, the sliced beef was worse than pathetic. There was no excuse for the guy packing my container to have sold that to anyone. It easily was 50% fat and that would be conservative, absolutely unexcusable. This cook had to see the poor quality and he did it anyway....that is the sad part. Never had this before at this place.

Was not impressed at all..wanted 3lbs of chopped beef.got 2lbs but still charged for 3 and 1lb was nothing but fat. Beans tasted burnt and I got charged for a brisket baked potato that I did not get..will never go back. Bodacious is where I'll take my money.

Ordered a rib sandwich. The ribs were overcooked and they couldn't be bothered to pull it off the bone before slapping it between two slices of cheap merita bread. The tables were wobbly. They were out of my first two choices. Would not recommend

I thought it was weird that they charge a different price with cash versus card for example if your bill was $40 in cash then you will be paying over $50 on a credit card but the service was okay the ribs was good a little pricey I mean paying $10 for a sandwich they could at least gave me more ribs I only got 3 that was on the sandwhich but the chopped beef was dry as hell it was no moist left in it I even tried to put barbecue sauce on the chopped beef to help it out but it's just ended up choking me at the end I will not be back

nothing special. the staff isn't very welcoming. i ordered ribs but got "brisket". that's after i added a $5 tip at checkout which obviously wasn't appreciated. (so sick of doing that). tips are for AFTER service not before. stop fleecing the public. one and done at this place

The 1st time I ate here the food was good. I tried it again, and decided I won't be returning. I ordered a rib sandwich that was burned/charred through and through, I also ordered a chopped beef sandwich for later that was loaded with fat in each bite; needless to say I couldn't eat it. Cheap beef and small overcooked, no bbq taste dried out ribs! They robbed me for 20.00 on yesterday ---- never again!

When I walked into the establishment, I was not greeted, and I did not feel like my service was appreciated. I ordered my sausage and my brisket sandwich. The sausage was cold. The brisket sandwich was okay. My overall experience was not great.

We appreciated that the BBQ sauce wasn't spicy, but still had flavor. We were disappointed that at 4:15 in the afternoon that they were out of several meats (they are open until 7:30). The turkey did not have any smoke flavor, neither did the sausage. They both tasted like they were just warmed up in an oven.
