Jane Goleta Reviews
From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and made to feel special. The food and service were incredible. The chicken picada, halibut, pizza, basil tomatoe soup indescribably delicious. Pictures of restaurant on website doesn't do this place justice. Would give more than a 5 star rating.
This restaurant is a gem. Make a reservation because they fill up fast. The food is outstanding and the cocktails are expertly crafted. The service is friendly and attentive
Jane has become our "Friday night" dining special restaurant. My sister usually orders goat cheese pancakes and I love chicken piccata with lemon caper sauce. Recently I substituted scalloped potatoes for pasta..wow, I love the way Jane does potatoes. We usually arrive before 5:30 so we can get in on the happy hour options. When we leave the place is packed and there's a line out the door. I highly recommend Jane for the food, service, and ambience.
Always a great experience dining here. The food is excellent, as is the service. Recently hosted a business dinner with them, and the folks who helped me were very accommodating and easy to work with. Would definitely recommend!
This is a good choice if you are in the Goleta area. We shared the oysters to start, and for the main courses we had the flank steak in chimichurri sauce and the mixed seafood and vegetable stew in coconut cream broth. All were excellent. The wine list was very good, in fact it was better than at a more expensive restaurant we dined at off State Street in downtown SB.
This is a great addition to the area. They have an excellent variety of choices, that are reasonable priced, good selection of wine and beers on tap. The staff is great, very helpful and attentive and will take time to explain what the dishes are and offer suggestions.
I had a bay scallop and pesto salad. It was amazing! I can't wait to go back and get it again. The customer service was great. 5 out of 5 stars.
We had a family member in from out of town and decided on Jane for dinner . We didn't have a reservation and had a very short wait in front before being seated maybe 10 min . Service was excellent, as well as the food. I would give more stars if I could. I highly recommend.
This place has a great relaxing atmosphere whether you are sitting inside or outside. Service is outstanding, very quick with drinks (and refills), and the food tasted great; very fresh. Great bar to just meet up and socialize at before dinner.
The chicken piccata was delicious. The sauce is awesome. And the toffee was amazing. Katherine and Samantha our server were great. ❤👍
There aren't many restaurants that stand out in Goleta as much as this one. While there is plenty of food to be had, excellent food with a touch of class is a little harder to find. Highly recommended!!!
Delicious food and always great service. However, I chose to take my family here to celebrate a birthday. Service was very slow. There was extra charge for children's lemonade. There was not a complimentary dessert for a birthday. They would be happy to put a candle in anything we ordered. Their competitors are offering better than this. I was disappointed.
Have eaten there twice in the last week. Our servers great and excellent. The food was extremely good. The burger was medium rare both times, which is hard to find and the fries were crisp and flavorful.
LOVE JANE!!! The atmosphere is sophisticated, not stuffy. All the food is fresh, carefully purveyed and deliciously prepared! I always get the Trout Salad, and recently branched out for the coconut seafood stew. So gooooood. I prefer sitting at the bar if I'm not with a large party. The bartender is a local living legend and will make you anything you ask for and perfectly.
I’ve been to this restaurant twice and my experience was wonderful both times. On this visit, I ordered the Grilled Chicken plate for dinner. It was absolutely delicious. It had a light cream sauce that was delicate and complimented the Anaheim chiles and chicken. The roasted potato side had so much flavor, I could have easily eaten 10 more servings. For dessert, I had the pecan tart, which had just the right level of sweetness. The service is excellent as well, I’d highly recommend eating here!
We had dinner here and we're very surprised with the quality and taste of our dishes. We started with their salmon pancake which is exactly what it sounds like and it was awesome. It has smoked salmon, goat cheese, a pancake base, and caviar roe. For dinner I had chicken with capers, lemon sauce, fettuccini. Wife had a seafood medley style soup. We shared a gluten free chocolate cake which was dense and very sweet. The prices were completely reasonable, especially for the quality. The ambiance was nice as well. We sat out on the covered patio with heaters. This is a good place for a family too. We will definitely be coming back.
We just celebrated a special day with 24 friends and family at Jane’s and they made sure it was perfect. Brandon, our server, was attentive and on top of everything. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting and fun. We will definitely be back again.
Enjoyed brunch here this morning. Very very good. Atmosphere was pleasant, servers were polite and attentive. Food was outstanding. We started with the eggplant pate & olive tepanade which was incredible. I had the Frenchy omelette, perfect and the scalloped potatoes were very good. My wife had the chilequiles, and with the tomatilla sauce. She enjoyed them very much . The coconut cake with vanilla sauce to finish was the perfect way to wrap it up. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience there andand absolutely reccomend this place well.
The atmosphere is casually elegant without being pretentious. The menu is thoughtfully curated which results in entrees and salads that are delightfully delicious. The service is impeccable, but I wouldn't expect anything less given the attention to detail paid to everything else throughout the restaurant.
Really friendly staff! Filet is always great! Love the potatoes and vegetables they serve with it as well. However the mushroom sauce has to be the best thing! Unbelievably good.
What's not to love about this classy place! We locals almost don't want to tell others, but it's the best restaurant in Goleta, for those who want to treat themselves to all the local owners have to offer with their flair for hospitality. We truly enjoyed the rosemary lamb riblets. Come see!
My partner and I visited for lunch. We both ended up getting the swordfish sandwich which was excellent. Service was quick and very friendly but became more relaxed as we finished. Prices seem just a little high to me but the food was good enough to say it was worth it.
Fantastic food. Get there early if you want a table without a wait.
We really enjoyed our dinner last night. Everyone was friendly and helpful, with good service. The atmosphere, including the outdoor table under the awning, was perfect and the food delicious. I particularly loved the chocolate marquise cake.
We've been coming here for 1 year, I've visited approximately 30 times. I can say this place is just amazing. The atmosphere, the service, and especially the food. I have my favorites, however, everything they do is excellent so I have begun trying many dishes I wouldn't normally order. Their cocktails are top drawer as well. Especially their bloody bourbon. Other restaurant owners should take a few pages out of their book. Well done Jane!!!
It’s not every day you eat a something so delicious, you want to run out into the street, grab the first stranger you meet, shake them by the shoulders, and scream “YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS SALAD!!!” For the record, I did not shake any strangers. Instead, I’ll just politely suggest you try the grilled salmon salad. Great service, too!
Honestly, the service was what made our visit a 5/5. This was our first time going to Janes and from the moment we entered we felt so comfortable. The hostess (I believe also the manager) was so kind and had such a positive energy. Our waitress was so sweet, consistent and efficient. The type of pasta noodles served with my boyfriends meal ended up being incorrect and they were so quick and well run to replace the noodles while telling us to enjoy the incorrect meal while we waited. They served us our final call drinks & we were extremely slow in leaving after they closed however they were still patient and didn’t rush us at all. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a good Italian place in Santa Barbara. My favourite so far and we will definitely be back every date night.
This restaurant is absolutely lovely every time. All of the food I have ever tried has been fresh and delicious. You can tell that the owner cares and it flows down through every detail. Your hard work is appreciated and noticed! The food is VERY good. The coconut cake is a must do at the end of the meal. Share if you must but don't go away without ordering a slice. Life is too short.
Overall good, the bread & butter is much better than many other place’s. Although I feel like too much water has been added for the Bolognese and the tomato was tasteless. For the second time I came here, I got Chicken Fettuccini and it was delicious! I wish their portion for that is slightly bigger though. Good service too.
Really tasty food! Our table tried a variety of things and it was all really great. The flat bread starter was a little too toasted (it was hard) but the spreads were very tasty. Would definitely come back again if ever in the area.
What a great place for a light lunch. It felt like one of those places you would just keep revisiting and having lunch with friends. High quality ingredients not overly seasoned, flavors worked well together. Overall great experience.
My partner and I love eating at Jane’s! Their food is always so delicious, and the atmosphere feels so romantic! I went there with my whole family last night. We sat in the covered patio. It was really beautiful. The food was amazing! I got the filet mignon, and it was really good. It gave me diarrhea though but I don’t care! I will keep coming back every time I’m in town! The calamari was the best calamari I’ve ever tasted! Super crunchy and delicious. I definitely recommend this place! Especially if you’re looking for a date night spot:)
Great restaurant and bar. One of the best bar tenders with unique cocktails 👌 we had drinks and then moved to patio to have dinner. Great dinner and service. Loved it. They have live music on Tuesday nights.
If I’m ever in Santa Barbara again. I’m coming here. No questions. Our server (bartender) was a great guy… not only was the service great, but he was just fun to hang out with! 3 of us guys came here from out of town for work and just finished a long week of working, this was a very pleasant way to end the trip! I had the fillet minion with the mushroom sauce 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 amazing haha! Steak was cooked perfectly (the way I ordered, black and blue), the mushroom sauce was probably the best part haha. Not that a steak like that even needs anything, but it definitely leveled it up! We got to meet the manager, she’s sweet, she really cares about this place and the people that come in! Great food. Great people. Let’s do it again soon!
This was such a fantastic dinner! From fast, friendly service to delicious food and scrumptious cocktails! We enjoyed our appetizers so much I forgot to take pictures until we were digging into it! We had fried calamari, panseared scallops with tomato, basil, and pesto, and the artichoke with a lemon garlic aoli. Then we ordered the swordfish special (which was by far the BEST DISH!). We also ordered the veal marsala, the chicken picatta and the linguine and classic dish. It was very delicious food. My veal marsala was a little salty but I was able to balance it out with the side of pasta and seasonal vegetables. Since I was pregnant I also ordered virgin cocktails of the ones they had listed. And OH MY!!! They were so flavorful! Ita because they have house made syrup so any of the cocktails on the menu, they could make it non-alcoholic! The mayan margarita was the best because it was spicy, and tangy with pineapple juice and it was just everything I wanted. The passion fruit mocktail was also really fresh! Then we had dessert, which was the coconut chiffon cake with creme anglaise and the creme brulee which is the BEST creme brulee o have ever had in my life, I thing because it was warm and the sugar on top was perfectly caramelized (it must have been baked in the oven and not torched). It was a great evening with phenomenal food and drinks!!!
Jane has great food with good presentation and flavor along with a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. They have a wonderful cocktail and drink menu. The staff is very pleasant, always there to greet you with a smile and do the most they can to make for a happy tasteful experience. Recommend for any occasion.

Always a delight! Went last minute after driving all day, seated at the bar with Thiago and had a amazing meal and beautiful drinks. I have nightshade allergies and I was still able to get the Salmon on ceder with tons of flavor! Thank you for always taking care of us!
Jane's is an exquisite small restuarant in Goleta tucked in amoung the fast food and noisy full service restaurants. The atmosphere is quiet and warm with soft music allowing conversion. The service is excellent with knowledgeable, friendly wait staff. The food is top notch. We tried the grilled artichokes which came served with a tasty dipping sauce. Very good. The red onion rings fantastic. The shrimp pizza with avocado and tomatillo was wonderful. The fresh swordfish sandwich delightful. Don't forget dessert. The coconut cake was light and airy with a tree Leche sauce. Cote de creme in chocolate one of the best I have tasted. Plenty of parking. There is a personal recommendation from Julia Child at the entrance. This is a don't miss, highly recommended.
What a wonderful place to come for lunch & dinner. The atmosphere is relaxing and the owner, Margaret is so kind. Really, all the staff are very nice. I love the food, they work hard to get the best ingredients. And it shows in the taste. I had the Linguine with clams and coconut cake. So tasty!
Had a great experience at Jane. One of my favorite parts was the cocktails, Tiago makes excellent drinks. The appetizers were perfect for sharing, which made the meal feel fun and social, and dinner was just as good. Everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning.
Family dinner at Jane’s. Two people had the grilled filet and loved it and the mushroom sauce. The other two had the chicken piccata and it was also quite delicious. In fact, the best chicken piccata I’ve ever had and it is my go-to for many restaurants so I’ve had it quite a bit! The sauce was perfect - light, lemony and creamy with the perfect amount of capers. If you’re in the Santa Barbara area, have one of your meals at Jane At the Marketplace.

The food is tasty with excellent service. Dining is indoors or on a heated patio. I have returned several times, each an enjoyable experience.
Very nice atmosphere! Polite servers. I didn't give 5 stars because the pizza came with a whole lot of kale, which I don't like at all! I believe the kale was not mentioned in the menu and that's why I didn't know about it.
Took my nephew out to lunch there last Saturday. I'm from northern California & he is local. We bother enjoyed dining outside by the sparkling fountain under nice shaded tables. I enjoyed my burger & salad. Abbey was a fantastic waitress & the hostess was very welcoming. We enjoyed visiting & catching up there very much. Will suggest to family & friends.
The burgers here are absolutely amazing. Great flavor and variety. I haven't tried their appetizers yet, but they have a large, varied selection to choose from. The location is nice, with a beautiful patio. Service is generally very good, but we have had a few experiences of having to wait a long time for follow-up twists like drink refills, the check, etc. I would highly recommend this place of you are looking for fresh, high quality food and a generally great experience.
I have had the chicken picatta TWICE it was so good! I don't know what other reviewers are talking about. My wife had the baked Alaskan Halibut- awesome! Service was excellent. Wine pours could be a bit more generous, but lots of local restaurants are a little stingy in that regard. We will be going back !
We love Jane, but I was surprised that the $4 side salad had nothing on it. It was just lettuce with dressing. For a small $4 side salad I anticipated something on it, maybe a tomato or a few carrot slices, anything really!
Wonderful ambiance outside by the courtyard. Attentive service. I was disappointed there weren't more plant-based (dairy free and meat free) options. At the recommendation of the staff, I got the Mediterranean pizza without cheese and added avocado. It was delicious, but if you don't feel like "pizza" you're kind of out of options.
It was an overall good experience. I was really surprised by one of their daily specials, which included Hawaiian Swordfish with a sauce and crispy leeks. It was absolutely delicious and I am not a huge fan of fish. All other food items were fine, but not extraordinary. I thought the coconut shrimp were a little bit tough. The pecan pie was good, but not significantly better than store bought. The 'islander' drink had a strong dark rum flavor. The service was great, with very polite and helpful waiters/waitresses.
We dined here on a Saturday evening. Good menu and lively ambiance, our dining experience was good but not a wow moment. Service lacked a bit because they had a big party, of around 20, and it seems most of the servers were helping out, hence ours suffered a bit. The starting bread basket was fresh. My main course, pizza, cant remember the name, was good and well prepared. My dessert, was good. There are so many good places in the Goleta/Santa Bárbara área that not sure if I will patronize this establishment again.
This upscale casual eatery offers good food and friendly service. They're a bit pricy, but not crazy expensive. When we arrived for this meal the table wasn't set up for service, and we had to ask for silverware, salt and pepper, and such. We ordered onion rings with balsamic for an appetizer and they were very good. Red onions with a great batter and a good blend of flavors. They did need some salt, but were otherwise a good choice. She had the Margherita pizza and it was perfectly baked with fresh ingredients. Again, it needed some salt but was otherwise well done. I went with the penne and was quite happy. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was homemade and delicious.
This local place is close and has a wide variety of choices in the menu. I've been here a few times. Delicious drinks! Food is good but not amazing. Last time i was here...Cedar plank Salmon was delicious. Potatos and veggies were a little bland. Creme brulee seemed like it was broiled instead of torched as the entire dish was VERY hot. Atmosphere is very nice and service is always notch.
Good food, great atompsphere and service. Everything was tasty and delicious, tried the Apple fritters appetizer, duck entree and chicken sandwich, and coconut chiffon for dessert. A bit on the pricier side, but the food and service lived up to it. Will return, most likely for a special occasion.

Normally fantastic, but tonight my chicken picatta was like rubber. I could barely get a knife through it. Otherwise it is good. To be fair this has been my only bad experience out of about 10 visits.
$80 for two salads at lunch! Outrageous!!! Our order included one iced tea and one coffee; plus tax and tip.
When it comes to a restaurant that has an upscale menu and price, DETAILS MATTER! If you are spending $100 for a meal and tip, you shouldn't have to ask for bread 25 minutes after you have been seated. No one ever came for water, and we were the only table on the patio whose candle wasn't lit . Will think twice about where to spend my limited dollars.
They misplaced our order and took an additional 40 minutes to serve us. In that time, we saw people seated after us get bread and we did not get bread until we asked about our food and that still took a long time. The free baguette is also kind of small and underwhelming. Other than that, the bay scallop sauté salad was quite good. We also ordered the vegetarian pasta which was unobjectionable but ultimately uninspired. The swordfish special was good. Overall, the service left much to be desired, but if you have the time, the food is good, though it isn't unique.
I am from out of town. Jane at marketplace was recommended to me, so I tried it that time of year is wonderful. the staff was very nice and the service was excellent. I had the fish and chips and they were very greasy and there was something bitter in the fish flavor. I noticed several other males what did look very good. however I won't be able to try any other dishes I think it's worth a try
Jane is one of the best Farm to Table places in Santa Barbara. Their food quality is great and it is always fresh. The only reason my rating is low is two times I have been served chicken in my vegetarian order for which they apologised but that doesn't change the fact that the Waitress made a mistake. Anyway, I still go there occasionally but everytime I am there my fear of having issues with my order are always doubled.
We visit Jane quite often for good food and a pleasant environment. The bar is good, with a sure hand and eye producing fine cocktails. On this occasion though, it became apparent that there were a few flaws. I had the veal marsala and my wife had the special Hawaiian swordfish. Whilst both were tasty, the basic flavors of the meat and fish were completely shrouded by the sauces. My veal could have been almost any light meat, the swordfish any firm fish. As I said, tasty, but a bit of a let down. The desert, a semi-freddo with caramel was delicious, but not a semi-fredo. We'll go back, but without great expectations.
I had CHICKEN GORGONZOLA SALAD today , the chicken was dry. The bacon was cold, avocados were good, Romaine seemed like not that fresh . I under stand we came late around 2:00 pm, your staff was getting ready shut down for afternoon break .My wife had. The Jane burger it was really good she said . French fries was good
Never been to a restaurant where if you don’t like something they don’t take it off your bill. My autistic non verbal sister didn’t touch her salmon. Bummer cuz it’s her 59th birthday. Chicken piccata was delicious. Won’t be back.
Good food, but there's a lot of filler and not much of the expensive ingredients: My meal came with a tiny piece of salmon, for instance. The service is lacking. The food took a while to come out, and our server took over 20 minutes to bring us the check after we asked. Good atmosphere, especially in the patio.
This place was unfortunately a let down. The burrata was frozen in the middle and the service was mediocre, the waiter was curt. The pizza was nothing special, so I would recommend trying something else on the menu. Luckily, the atmosphere was nice and cozy.
The steak was disappointing. It was tough to cut through and buried in sauce. It included a very small portion of vegetables. The potatoes were fair but uninspired. The whole experience left me unimpressed. The one beer I had was quite good. Maybe I should have stopped there.
We had two different varieties of cake and I will say that it reminds me of many other "gourmet" cakes; the listed ingredients sound better than the taste. The rare place has a mouthwatering name "for example a "cherry, blood orange ganache cake". Then you taste it and it meets or exceeds your towering imagination. These cakes were not quite that...but really good! We are honestly a bit on the cheap side, so the price of the cake at Jane's will be a recurring family joke concerning economics! But keep in mind, my wife and I are comparatively cheap, plus we like joking about things.
I updated the review as I appreciate the management's earnest efforts to improve and their openness to customer feedback. Perhaps my tastes don't align with their style, but I can see they're striving to provide a better experience. I'll come back in the future and see how they've evolved. It's clear they care about their customers and are making an effort. ‐----------‐------------------------ I found the food to be subpar during my visit. I ordered the lunch special, which was a fish dish, and it seemed slightly undercooked. For $36, I expected a much higher quality meal, but it was definitely underwhelming. The service was equally disappointing. The wait staff seemed to ignore our table, while others around us were served bread and given attentive service. We requested a drink menu but never received one. We also tried the calamari, but the sauce had an odd flavor. My colleague even mentioned that the sauce at their Santa Barbara location was much better. This was my third visit—once for personal reasons and twice for work—and each time, I left in a bad mood. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back.
Good bread but they only bring you a single pat of butter for 4 slices of sourdough. Each time we asked for more butter they brought one more pat. Very high price per calorie. Calamari appetizer was rubbery and coated with a batter that would not stay on.. so you ended up eating just the naked calamari. $30 salad had 3 small shrimp and 3 small slices of Ahi tuna and a big pile of unchopped greens.

After hearing about great food downtown, I was very disappointed in Jane at Camino Real. The atmosphere and staff are great but the food is soo bland. The burger was well cooked but was greasy and had no seasoning at all and the fries looked like they'd taken one too many trips through the fryer but skipped the salt shaker altogether.
The food was good not great. I had the smoked salmon and prawn salad. The service was not good at all. We sat there waiting to be acknowledged but the server waited the 15 minutes for the happy hour to end even though the pair of ladies next to me ordered off the happy hour menu. It was disappointing.
The people are nice and the place is cute, but the food was mediocre at best. We seriously waited about 45 minutes for the food to come out and when it did the recommended steak frites were well done when we ordered medium rare. I would not go again.
Took grandson for steak at Jane’s for his birthday 2 nites ago; asked for two medium Rare steaks, got medium no pink, we were disappointed; too many people for each waiter to wait for another steak, sad 😞 María Tusup
My husband, daughter and I ate there for the first time. The atmosphere and service were great. Super friendly and attentive. The food was not great. I had the Jane burger. The bottom bun was almost raw. The fries were over done. My husband’s pizza was bland and the crust was burned. We really wanted to like it. We were disappointed.
I came in last week for dinner, and left feeling pretty underwhelmed. The food is simply not worth what you're paying. The servers were very kind however, and the place itself is aesthetically pleasing. 1. The Mediterranean Pizza-- dry, tapenade way too salty, was topped with literal salad mix ... easily the worst pizza I've ever had. 2. The Chicken Piccata-- underwhelming 3. The duck-- bland, and "seasonal fruit and port wine reduction" did not deliver... The potatoes on the side were very good, however. 4.The balsamic onion rings-- good. 5. Cucumber martini-- was a hit, 6. Grapefruit aperol spritz-- average. 6. The coconut cake-- really good. All in all, only the dessert, the onion rings, and the cucumber drink were really worth it. There are many other places with much more flavorful food nearby. You should only come here if you need a nice-looking restaurant but can't go downtown.
The few times that I went, the food did not live up to the downtown location. Everything is just a little off. For example, the chicken picatta is tasty but super greasy and the burgers were good, but since they were out of buns, we ate them on ciabatta. Service is pleasant in the restaurant, but when we tried to plan a private party there, the communication was terrible, and I felt we were treated badly and blamed for things that weren’t communicated to us properly. Fortunately, we had a mountain of email evidence that proved it wasn’t our fault, and only then did they become apologetic. It was ultimately resolved to our (somewhat) satisfaction, but I was disappointed in the customer service overall.
Service was great, prompt, and friendly. Drinks were fine. The food was not good. The kitchen made some odd, bland choices. We got the mushroom pizza that I really didn't like, which is odd considering I like anything that has mushrooms on it. The quality of ingredients wasn't the problem - I just felt like the kitchen didn't know what food was.
I came to Jane with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience was rather disappointing. The service was average; while the staff was polite, they seemed overwhelmed and inattentive, which might explain why it took an unusually long time for our food to arrive. When my dish finally did come, I was dismayed to find my scallops served ice cold. It's disheartening when a restaurant misses the mark on something as simple as temperature, especially for a dish that should be fresh and inviting. I understand that busy nights can lead to such mishaps, but for the prices they charge, I expected much better. Dining out is about more than just the food; it's about the overall experience, and sadly, this visit did not meet those expectations. I hope they can work on their timing and food presentation, as I believe there is potential for this establishment to improve. For now, I would recommend being cautious if you're considering dining here.
DISCLAIMER: what I ordered and the service I received are my experiences and the rest of the menu could be amazing I may have just been unlucky. Now I have had better looking and tasting Caesar for cheaper at pizza parlors the entrees were nothing special I had a chicken sandwich with as much cheese as chicken and a side of fries that could only rival in n out rejects, they were overcooked and the sheer amount of them could have demanded a plate of their own. Wifey got the chicken piccata and I can’t really knock it it was just a bit too tart and everything on the plate was the same flavor or lacked flavor completely. We were offered bread and butter and while we accepted it never made it to the table. I don’t want to bully our waitress I’m sure she had a lot going on but it felt like serving was an afterthought and we could not wave her down for any reason. Honestly if you don’t have any prejudice chili’s is right next door. If you think jade has better food it’s only marginal and the environment seems family oriented so not much different. jade has a lot of very simple improvements that they can make fairly easily. 1. Learn how to make a Caesar salad you can make them in bulk after getting a rough sense of how many are ordered in an hour 2. When someone orders a grilled chicken sandwich they don’t want something that with send them into cardiac arrest seriously a quarter pound of fried cheese is something you should mention in the name of the sandwich and pairing that with the sesame bread and onions with mushrooms the first three bites are great but after that it is a struggle. 3. Balance and flavor are a must in a good meal please add a palate refreshing item or recommend a side in order to avoid experiences like the one I had.
Really nice environment. Host and waiter were very friendly, greeting us with welcoming smiles. Clam linguini was not good - the noodles tasted like ones you get out of a plastic packet, the sauce was a runny soup and it didn’t have a lot of taste. Our waiter was friendly, but didn’t respond when we a) asked for water b) asked for an extra plate c) asked for a drink. Two stars because I see the potential, but food and service definitely have some work to do.
Very disappointed with owner of restaurant. We come in on a regular basis and order two specialty drinks. Ordered restaurant connection and twice the owner would not make drinks. Asked for spicy margarita and she said no only regular margarita. What a horrible way to run your business. Jane might want to tell RC this before wasting our time in the future. We will find another place to eat in the future.
1 star is too much to give to this so called “restaurant”. The soups taste like canned soup from Albertsons and the meat used in all dishes is cheap and tasteless. For 25$ you get a salad with 5 pieces of shrimp and a piece of ahi tuna. Save your taste buds and visit The Cruisery in Santa Barbara.
This is the second inedible meal I've had at Jane. I had the fresh fish sandwich. It was not fresh! Coated with so much mayonnaise and butter I couldn't taste the fish. It made me feel sick to eat that much mayonnaise. I told the waitress and only ate 2 bites but they didn't adjust the bill at all. Not impressed.
Good food, bad service. Outside seating only, 58 degrees, heaters are out of gas. Food (2 burgers) took 32 minutes, waitress checked on us twice. Both times gave wrong drink. (RATING: SKIP)
I feel badly writing this because I've always been fond of this restaurant, however last Friday I was turned down at the door because they could not accommodate my baby in his stroller. The patio was closed due to the fire and they had a private party in the other room, however there were tables available in the main room and the hostess turned us away. I feel this is definitely a form of discrimination.
There were seven of us eating tonight. All main courses were below par. The service was okay to start, but as soon as the restaurant got busy, our waiter got lost in the restaurant and everything slowed way down. Would not recommend, and this use to be my fave place.
Very disappointed with our experience at Jane. We had planned to celebrate our granddaughters birthday at Jane. Granted we should have asked but we brought her requested family cake and was informed that the restaurant had their own pastry chef and there would be a $20 charge if we wanted to consume the cake we had brought at the restaurant. I returned my cake to the car and thought we would make the best of it without our family cake! Unfortunately, our experience did not improve when our dinner was served. The food was very mediocre. The pizza was tough and greasy, the pork sandwich was fatty and the filet was the caliber one would expect from a chain restaurant. There was no recognition of our granddaughters birthday from the restaurant, not even a scoop of vanilla ice cream! $225 later we went home and enjoyed our traditional birthday cake. Would not recommend Jane based on our experience!
Average food, over priced and horrible service. On Mother's Day I placed online order after being placed on hold for more than 10 minutes. Order was not processed when I went to pick up. I would have canceled order but my mom still wanted lunch from Jane's. Still waiting over 30 minutes to get 3 orders after they were supposedly going to prioritize order. To my surprise when I got home the salmon and hamburger were under cooked. To Jane's ownership why have online option when you are not going to honor it? Why don't you respect customers time?
Not sure why so many people give great reviews for this place. Having to wait 35 minutes to get your drinks served after asking for it multiple times, shouldn’t even earn one star. The manager compensated the first round, but they couldn’t even get the first round right. Their appetizer were subpar - for example, their pepper filet appetizer had four tiny pieces of meat on a plate with a pound of dry greens. Still waiting for the entrees while writing this… almost an hour into waiting. Summary: food and service were terrible. Stay away from this restaurant as far as possible.
Not great for vegans. Nothing special on the menu. Our manager treated our team for Holiday lunch. I ordered the pizza and asked to leave off the dairy. There was no option to add vegetables like bell peppers, artichoke, spinach. They only had mushrooms and onions. It would have been nice to have a house made veggie burger, soup or pasta option.
Got seated quickly after arrival, however, despite trying to make eye contact with staff, and people cleaning up dishes around me for solid 10-15 minutes, I didn’t even get a water nor anyone came by to take my order. Hence literally walked up to the font desk and asked whether there is any chance I can place an order.. not a great start but gets worse. Buckle up. The complimentary bread was not only cold and tasted stale, I highly doubt it actually was from a “nearby bakery” unless the Target across the street counts. I can only hope it was made within 3-5 business days of my visit. Ordered the duck special for my main course - which came out not-that-special and instead pretty raw. Some bits were cooked ok, but most of the parts that were at least reasonably safe to eat were often un-chewable and tougher than David Goggins himself, resulting in a frequent use of the napkin to discard the matter. Personally, I found the kumquat sauce too sweet, but this could be just personal preference. The sides of beets and potatoes were decent and edible. Still starving and trying to end this train wreck on a somewhat positive note the flourless, but very rich chocolate cake, dryer than Sahara desert and denser than depleted uranium was arguably the better part of this meal and hopefully provided enough caloric intake, but was far from a highlight. Interestingly, no water was served since the first glass (that came ~20 min in) and therefore upon departure I had to go ask the bartender if I could possibly have a glass of water - which I did get. Yay! Overall with the slow/non-existent service, undercooked/raw duck, and an astounding $35.55 entree price I wouldn’t call this even remotely worth it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
