Chocolat Restaurant Lounge Harlem Reviews
Second night out to the fabulous black owned restaurant. What else is there left to say. Everything was amazing. The vibe is to die for. The staff was generousity was spectacular. Malik and Sarah was grand. The FOOOODDDDD ……..speechless. Made with sooo much love. Im here for two more days. May be back for Brunch on Sunday and make it a Chocolat Weekend
Atmosphere was nice. Music was good and not loud just enough to have a conversation and still jam out. Chicken and waffles were amazing! Flavorful. We will be making another appearance soon. Thank you
All the waiters are extremely friendly & accommodating. The food was delicious. We got French Toast & chicken instead of waffles & chicken. They apologized & brought out the waffles for no extra charge. The chicken was moist & lightly crispy. My salmon burger was seasoned to perfection so so good. I would highly recommend coming here.
Sooooo…….🧐I’m thinking of a way to begin this review. I can’t help but remember those SUCCULENT lollipop lamp chops 🤤served w/ homemade smashed potatoes (yes I said smashed) and a healthy serving of spinach. Which included minced garlic and definitely EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), or something to that effect, I didn’t taste butter. So when I tell you the presentation is VERY inviting the service is to be desired, we’ll get to that by the end of this review.😳 While the servers were all pleasant, the establishment was not busy at all for a Saturday night. I was with a bday dinner party for a special lady, who happens to know the owner/partner (who conveniently wasn’t there that evening) So let’s talk about “MY” experience with the food service now that we’re over the food porn😉. There were a lot of different things going on in our section- which was one lil room- the tv was supposedly not working, no music and what we did hear for music was the ambiance for the main dining area. I won’t go into great detail, basically long story short our main server became overwhelmed and told one our guests he had other things going on and so on and so forth when we tried to explain we should’ve been told he could not make more than 4 separate checks I explained that should have been informed about that as the guests arrived. I would like to add maybe he may not have been trained properly or had little experience with customer service to that nature not sure but also his shirt was wrinkled for an establishment that is charging $$$$ for the food. I gave him many thanks just to boost his morale up again he over came the triumph of helping us. So KUDOS to this young man. On the other hand everything began with some chaos and ended with a better outcome. To which I’m mentioning for reasons being “they” should have been more prepared for a small party of 15 ppl. I know this ain’t a blog 😝 but I wanted to explain some major details that some others ppl that reviewed this establishment only let us know the service was awful. I had a similar experience and hope this mouthful helps anyone reading. All in all, I truly enjoyed he food and hope they manager can boost their servers skills by being more attentive, respond in a professional manner and provide guests with information that isn’t going to cause a lack luster experience. 🙌🏽
The most amazing food and drinks!!! We went for brunch and left very happy. The wings, the biscuits 😋, and he red velvet pancakes were the best. I also had the shrimp and grits with bacon. Wow!!! Services was on point. Bottomless mimosas was not a lie, my glass was never empty. Definitely going back.
Went here with the family today to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday and it was a good experience. We made reservations prior to going for about 10 people but added more later and the restaurant had no issues. The restaurant was nice, clean and had a nice vibe and we brought the party💃🏽🕺🏾🔥 The food was good as well we had a bit of everything and no one had any complaints so that was a plus. We also had their “Rum Swizzle” drink which is basically their version of a Rum punch and it was good but DEFF not as strong as I was hoping it would’ve been but it had a lil buzz though lol.
I Love Coming Here To Eat. I Was Especially Satisfied Because I'm Pescatarian &' Was Able To Enjoy Meals Without Limits. I Recommended This Establishment To My Mom &' Took Her Here. She Was Visiting NY And Wanted To Try Something New. She Liked The Food As Well, So I'm Glad That The Experience Was Good For Her As Its Been For Me In My Previous Visits. Although Everything Was Amazing Our Shrimp &' Grits Took Longer Than Expected To Come Out, While Everything Else Came Out Faster. It Took So Long We Just Took That Order To Go Instead. Aside From That, No Complaints!
Im from LA. I came here with my student while we were visiting Columbia University. Everything about this place was a vibe. Food was delicious, our server Ashley was super attentive and great personality. Im falling in love with NY. This was a great place to eat to start our trip. Loved this place!
I should begin by noting that this was the only restaurant regularly advertised on the New York Hilton channel. We enjoyed a lovely brunch here on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant sits on a prominent corner on a grand boulevard and is decorated in vibrant colors. Our server, Amari, was a delightful young man with big dreams. He was professional and polite. We asked to meet the owner who promptly came to the table and we took a photo together. Mr. Ellis is a consummate manager and chef (and a good Tuskegee man). I give high marks to the sangria and the mango margarita. Fresh ingredients, carefully balanced for a gourmet presentation. We were very impressed by the red velvet pancakes, fried chicken and salmon croquettes. The cheese grits are world class. I told Mr. Ellis that I would urge all foodies, discriminating consumers, and HBCU villages (especially SpelHouse, Tuskegee, and Howard to come and enjoy this amazing restaurant). It may be slightly pricier than standard restaurants, but this really is gourmet quality and deserves our support.
I’ve never had one thing from Chocolat that wasn’t amazing! The grits & catfish are without a doubt the best I’ve ever had in my life! I would ask that the waiters just check in w/ guests more frequently, but they were very very nice; it just sucked that we got bottomless mimosas and had to chase the waiter down, mid-Convo, for a refill.
I went to this restaurant with my siblings and family friends, today, to celebrate a birthday. I was impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere. I wouldn't mind coming back here again in the future.
I brought my wife there for her Birthday, this was our first time. We also had another couple with us they were also first timers. We all had a great time we were very satisfied by the food. The other couple ate and also ordered a to go meal thats how much they enjoyed themselves. We expect to return before the year is out.
Order the red velvet pancakes And they were the best pancakes. The fried chicken could use some seasoning. The grits with shrimp, bacon, cheese was so light, I didn't get tired after eating it.
Easily one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while... Food is immaculate. I had the lamb chops previously before this and that's a must have. Below is steak and eggs... Perfect temperature, eggs scrambled to perfection for anyone's preference, and salad was fresh. Below are french fries but it's normally sold with home fries (same thing, different shape in my opinion). Only thing I'll say is get prepared to pop open the safe. Brunch is about $50, that worth it but everything else is kinda pricey but ABSOLUTELY worth if you can afford it. To those that matter, this is Harlem and it's black owned. Sports on Sundays and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. A definite recommend.
The red velvet waffles looked and felt like they were steamed and shrinking in size. There was only one waffle on the plate. Restaurants normally serve two waffles to an order, not here!!! The leg quarter was cut into four pieces how is that possible especially when you’re charging $34.00. The Caesar salad tasted salty and had tomato’s in it. Overall the server was great and introduced himself and took our orders correctly and offered water. We will not be returning .
Last year, I visited this location to celebrate my husband's birthday, and while the experience was satisfactory, today the service was outstanding. Three individuals were vying to pay the bill, and Tara handled the situation with remarkable skill. host being quite young so immersed in dancing and singing that she appears to overlook her responsibilities lack of attentiveness …
We took the train from Manhattan to Harlem for Brunch on a Sunday and it was a highlight of our trip to New York. It was easy to find and in a good location. Ashley was our server and she was awesome. So many good choices on the menu. I had the fried fish and waffles and my wife had the pancakes with chicken. They both were good but I think next time I’m going to order the chicken and waffles. My waffle was light and moist with great flavor. The chicken was cooked just right. The fish was good but I was hoping they had the Louisiana Hot Sauce instead they had Tabasco sauce. This place has a nice atmosphere that’s relaxing with natural light. A great way to start your day. There was an 18% gratuity charge on our ticket for our party of 2 which was cool with us. Good food and a good time.
Chocolat Restaurant & Bar is my very 1st restaurant to see a sticker on the door with the message black owner right in your face as you enter the restaurant. ✊🏾🙏🏾❤️ for the culture it made me feel proud to spend my dollars in my community. We seated immediately in the middle of the restaurant and a sidewall behind us. I will definitely go back to get pictures of the decor the jumbo TV screens gave it so much life. Chocolat was truly decorated very nice from the paint colors to the metal silver framing around the bar blends very well. The Red Velvet Pancakes with Emily's fried chicken stood out off the menu to me. So my order was set. And it was deeeeeelicous !!
Omg! Today I came In for a late brunch and I was blown away! This was an amazing brunch dining experience. They no longer require masks to be worn & proof of vaccination. They had great music playing that wasn’t overwhelming. The decor is perfect. The drinks are beautiful, the food was fresh, delicious & well seasoned. Just good! I can’t believe I have walked past this hidden gem many times. When in Harlem & looking for a good place to brunch, GO HERE!
Great experience for my first time here. Had Fried Chicken (Bone out) with Red Velvet Waffle + mimosas. Food was good, service was good, environment was good. Got seated right away, found parking right away, and the attention to detail to make sure my mimosa glass was always full was perfect. Will visit again!
I don’t know why this once isn’t busier. The food is always great. A good go-to for out of town guests as the menu has great variety, the food is consistently good, and there is plenty of space unlike so many cramped NYC locales. One ding on service for two reasons: staff is pretty nice, but they insist on not seating you until your entire party arrives—and the place is consistently mostly empty. It’s kind of absurd. Also, at times things like dishes never arriving will happen—as it did on my last visit. But they have it to us to go free of charge (after reminding them they said they wouldn’t charge us and getting it taken off the bill). But the guests were happy with the food, we stayed a long while and they all said “great choice!”
I am a member of Chocolat's birthday club. I went to restaurant on 5/29/25 to celebrate my birthday. The customer service was awesome. The food was immaculate. I ordered the salmon with shrimp and lobster sauce and spinach and smashed potatoes. I wanted extra sauce for the salmon and the staff accommodated me. My friend ordered the penne alla vodka with salmon. Both dinners were thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for your great service. Looking forward to my next reservation.
Food was some of the best I’ve had in NYC. Service was tiptop. Chicken and waffles, excellent. Peas and rice, excellent. Spinach, excellent. My daughter says her burger was the best she’s had in memory.
A beautiful upscale soul food place in Harlem. I got the fried chicken with collard greens and the lobster mac & cheese. It was all so delicious! The chicken came with a dipping hot sauce that was out of this world. I also got the chocolate martini my girlfriend got the pear martini, and they were both excellent. All the staff were friendly and fast. The atmosphere was wonderful. Definitely recommend going here even if you’re not close to the area.
Wonderful black-owned restaurant that offers delicious soul food and known for their red velvet pancakes. The restaurant has a lively but relaxed atmosphere, knowledgeable and attentive staff, and amazing food and drinks. Brunch is offered until 10 pm, with bottomless mimosas for $25 and bottomless bellinis for $30.
Great casual spot with excellent food huge portions great prices love the fried shrimp and calamari. They also have an excellent Maryland style crabcake and the short rib was really really good with the fresh spinach and mashed potatoes. I definitely we will be back soon.
The service was fast and friendly. The wait staff answered all of our questions about the menu and even gave us a few recommendations on things to try. The food was delicious the atmosphere was nice. We visited on a holiday so it was mostly quiet. There were also a couple of good vegetarian options on the menu too.
The Yelp community's enthusiastic reviews were completely justified. This place is quite small and very busy during lunch. But it's worth it: Great food and good service. The meals feature fresh components and excellent taste. Staff members show remarkable ability. The spot shows independent thinking!
Oh my goodness the FOOD! The food was soooo good!!! We visited on a short NYC trip and it was so worth it. We had a party of 4 and all of us ordered food to go! Our bill came up to 630 and it was WORTH IT! This will now be a definite part of all our NYC trips. They add in 18% gratuity to parties 2 or more and it is more than worth it. We still tipped the waiter because he was great! Can't wait for next NYC visit to come here and eat again!!!
The experience was one of the best times I've had in a long time. The food 10/10, hospitality 10/10 (especially being we overstayed our welcome and they never made us feel uncomfortable when we did) and the atmosphere 10/10! Would totally recommend to all my friends and family! Will be going back soon.
I'm not really sure how we saw advertising for Chocolat, but I'm so glad we did. While visiting NY with my best friend, we had Sunday brunch at Chocolat before heading back to Connecticut. First, let's start with the service. We were immediately seated. Malaki, our waiter, tended to us with professionalism and kindness. We started with calamari which was the best I've ever had. I had buttermilk pancakes and southern sweet chicken. Although Malaki said it was going to be a mixture of dark and white meat, it was dark only. It was still delicious. The chicken had a batter crust and had syrup drizzled on it. My BFF had the shrimp and grits. She let me taste her dish. I was envious. We are from the south, so we know grits! And these grits were cooked to the perfect texture. The flavors were perfect with no one overpowering the other. One bite was engrossed with the bacon. The next bite had just the right amount of cheese. But the bite with the shrimp takes you to a place that makes you hold your breath and chew slowly to savor the taste and moment. The shrimp have a smoky grilled taste, and with the grits with bacon and cheese make this the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. I'm already planning my next visit, and you'd better believe I will get shrimp and grits! And both were just as good the next day!
Went to this restaurant for a friend's birthday dinner. The restaurant is nice and clean with a lot of seating space inside and outside. The food and the drinks are really good. Everything tasted good, and the portions are big. Good customer service. You must try the calamari and the fried chicken. Salds are very good as well. I definitely recommend this place, and I will be returning.
Atmosphere was nice walked in greeted with a smile and welcome. Service was great. Server was very attentive. No empty glasses just awesome all round. Food and drinks was on point.. We had short rib mac & cheese and fried chicken & waffles, cheesy grits on the side and that fried chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, but also juicy tender on inside inside delicious! We definitely will be back.
I had a great time! I dined along, sat outside since it was such a lovely day! My waiter was Andy and he was great very attentive and on point!! My steak was a bit on the tough side I got it medium well. It was bad but it wasn't great either. Everything else I had was good, Mac and cheese
First restaurant we visited while in New York. This place is an entire vibe from the time you enter the doors until you leave. Amazing food! Excellent service. Mailk and Tobe were wonderful. You can tell that they truly care about the guests. Tobe has an energy that is unmatched. I will definitely be back!! Thank you so much for the wonderful dining experience.
I love Chocolat! However, I was there 8/16 for the NYC Summer Restaurant Week 2025. I was ready to place my order, because I thought about it all the way there. When I got there, the bartender said oh, that’s only Monday-Friday. The advertisement was false. Other than that, the food was amazing as always.
Food was delicious! The waitress was nice. Only place I’d ding a point is the cost of the food. I was with one other person and we just had the chicken and waffles and each had a sparkling water and the bill was $85 😬 18% gratuity was automatically added but the menu noted it was applied to 3 people plus.
I decided to celebrate my bday here. The reason why, because of the location but also because of the name of this restaurant. The ambiance was something I really enjoyed. The patience they had was comforting. In addition, we got served as soon as we walked in. The waiters really was sweet and accommodating. I ordered the salmon burger with fries. At first, I was skeptical because everyone is obsessed with anything salmon ( which I don’t mind) but then they brought it out and I tasted it .. 10/10. I liked the sauce that they put on it, which was a sweet and not too overpowering. I was a little skeptical about their fries because I like my fries seasoned. But when I tasted it, it was crispy and nicely seasoned. Me and my bestfriend noticed aswell that our food was still hot when they brought it to our table. Me and bestfriend had the mango margarita. The drinks was strong and sweet. Lastly, the desert. My best friend got the chocolate lava cake. She told me to try hers… Omgoshh. The chocolate cake had a rich and dark taste to it. It tasted mature and not too sweet. The chocolate cake texture was soft and warm. The chocolate sauce on it wasn’t exaggerated. The vanilla ice cream on the side had a nice little touch. I got the vanilla ice cream. Which was sweet and simple. Me and my bestfriend didn’t feel rushed to pay at the end.
Great as always the biscuits changed a little bit and as far as flavor, it seem like it’s more of a honey than a butter taste and my ribs needed a little bit more salt in it, but the shrimps were perfect so was the shrimp and grits and the fried chicken that my wife had. I had a few drinks and they were pretty good too. I haven’t been there for a while due to my schedule, but they’re always our professional and the staff always welcomes you and you feel as if it’s not forced. Even though I had a little issue with two of the items, everything isn’t gonna be the same way every encounter but instead of a 10 out of 10, it was a nine out of 10, and it’s just me nitpicking. I had more pictures to show, but for whatever reason I’m unable to upload. My apologies
We had such a great time yesterday taking my dad and the family out! Big thanks to my bestie Ian for the amazing recommendation—he never misses. My dad, Bishop Darren Ferguson, was truly happy, and that made the day even more special. The food was delicious, and the service was top-tier. We arrived an hour early, but the hostess was phenomenal and accommodated us with no problem. Our waitress was attentive, and all the staff made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. A beautiful experience all around!
This was an amazing brunch spot. The staff was attentive and friendly towards my group. The drinks were tasty and strong, and the in-house DJ was amazing, bringing in the vibes. As for the food....impeccable. I got the Slow Braised Beef short ribs, and it was cooked to perfection. The portion was enough, and the flavor was well worth the price. Would definitely come here again

It was really good. Love the biscuit and chicken with sweet maple chili sauce . Soo good. The mac and cheese was great . Red velvet pancakes was good. My boyfriend had a bit of an issue getting his unlimited mimosas but other than that it was great experience and food was good 👍. But it is expensive so beware.
Went on Mother’s Day, great atmosphere and while the menu is a bit pricey the food was delicious. If you have any dietary restrictions they cannot accommodate since all the food is prepared in the same kitchen. It was a bit crowded but it was to be expected. Definitely recommend booking your table in advance and going not on a weekend to avoid long wait times. But I enjoyed my visit, I would go again.
it is overall a really good place! can get pretty expensive though...spent nearly 200 on brunch with unlimited mimosas. They do automatically add on an 18 percent gratuity and I did not realize that...overall though the food was great and service was really good! those red velvet pancakes with the chicken is a must!
The food was great, it was for my best friend birthday. She had the fried chicken, which was so crunchy and delicious. I had the ribs, which was so good but the side (coleslaw) was not to my liking. It tasted spoiled or it could have been the seasoning. I kept trying to eat it and I couldn't do it anymore. But besides that the place is great. I was a little upset that our waitress took her focus off of us when she saw that a group came in. It took almost 20 to 30 minutes of me and my friend just sitting there for someone to acknowledge that we were done and waiting for the check.
I chose Chocolat Restaurant and Bar to introduce my cousin visiting from Savannah, Georgia, to a taste of northern hospitality while offering a familiar feel of Southern cuisine. The food was fantastic, and the overall ambiance was warm and welcoming. Our server and the matron d host were exceptional — providing attentive and friendly service that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. However, I did have a small issue when I asked if we could move to a side booth. The manager on duty at the time responded curtly with, “What’s the problem?” rather than offering a more helpful response. While I appreciated the explanation about limited seating availability, the delivery could have been more pleasant. Despite this, my out-of-town relatives still had a wonderful time, enjoying the meal, the lively atmosphere, and the opportunity to visit nearby street fairs in Harlem. All in all, it was a positive experience and I would still recommend it.
We had a great time and plan on doing it again soon. I arrived first and my niece got stuck in traffic so she was late. The reservations person saw I was on a cane and got me a glass of water while I waited and came to check on me as well. After a while he seated me at table and I was still waiting but he was nice and extremely patient. The service was awesome our appetizer was perfect.I will not only go back but recommend it also.
Really good. Tried their famous red velvet waffles and fried chicken and was not disappointed. The waffle was almost like cake. Pricier end, but great food and ambience. Came back again to try the short rib mac and cheese and that was also great. Consistent over the two visits was the slower service speed. Went once on a Friday and again on a Monday afternoon. Took a while to have orders taken and a while to get the bill when we were clearly done.
First time at Chocolat, but it will not be my last. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice, although the music was a bit too loud for my taste, but still a great experience. A couple of things were messed up with our order, but not enough to mess up Brunch. There is conflicting information regarding gratuity on their website and menus in restaurant. 18% Gratuity of parties of 4 or more (menu online) is okay. Charging 18% for parties of 2 or more, I don’t agree with. All in all, one of the better restaurants experiences I’ve had in Harlem
I hosted a birthday dinner here with about 15 people, and the manager and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pricing was reasonable for such a large party. our bill was over $1,000 and included many glasses of wine and drinks, which I’ve seen cost much more elsewhere. Personally, I found most of the dishes I tasted to be a bit too salty. I sampled several meals at our table and wasn’t very impressed with the seasoning, and another guest mentioned the same. I also felt the jerk chicken could have been more flavorful. That said, some guests really enjoyed the chicken and waffles and the lamb chops. One drawback is that they were unable to accommodate dietary restrictions since all food is prepared in the same kitchen. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I expected a slightly fancier atmosphere, but it was still nice. It would be great to see more creative or upscale touches to match the restaurant’s name; perhaps unique chocolate-themed desserts, decorative displays near the bar, or fun photo features to enhance the experience. Overall, the restaurant was clean, the health grade is an A, and everyone had a wonderful time celebrating.
Chocolat was recommended to my friends and I due to the atmosphere and food. The mgr was very attentive as soon as we walked in. She seated us and gave us menus and recommendations all in the first few minutes. The wait staff were trying, but they needed to be a little more focused. Our food did take time to come out, but the mgr explained they were getting work done in the kitchen. I'm not really a drinker, but the drinks didn't have any taste to me or my friends. Overall it is a nice spot and I would recommend it.
4 stars only because they ran out of collard greens. Sweet plantains cooked to perfection, kale was steamed and garlicy. Otherwise, food was excellent, very friendly & welcoming staff. Great place for dates, anniversaries, family gatherings, or just to get some home cooked comfort foods. Loved the biscuits in honey butter, 2 in a plate, but my greedy self ordered 2 orders, well worth it. Braised BBQ ribs were so tender, fell off the bone. 3 cheese mac & cheese was a hit. The beautiful beet salad with grilled shrimp was mouth watering. Did not have room for dessert, but it was definitely worth my next trip. 😋
The atmosphere was a vibe. Our waitress Ashley was the best! The food was delicious! I didn’t get a drink but everything was good!!! Red velvet Waffles with fried chicken and cheese grits and applewood smoke bacon. Very very goood!!
The wait staff seemed a little sluggish around 4-5pm on a Friday. I asked for a cup of coffee with Bailey's. It took 4 people and 15 minutes later to receive my order and the drink was barely warm! I had the bbq wings as my appetizer, they were pretty good. I also ordered the Fish Tacos and Sweet Potato Fries as my entrée. The Tacos had more salad than fish, but the fries were excellent 😋 I think this place could be hit or miss depending on the time and day of the week😌
Walked in on a Sunday during brunch was greeted and asked if we wanted to be served indoor or out we chose out . Just sat us asked if we wanted any water . How never came back with water. Then 5 min later waitress came to table not really warm greeting!! Spoke to fast just felt rushed!! Nice atmosphere considering!!
Had an amazing experience at brunch. Went with no reservations and was able to be seated immediately. I enjoyed the unlimited mimosas. Everything was delicious, the ribs, the chicken and waffles. The cornbread was moist. The waitress didn’t give any recommendations however she was very polite and made sure our drinks stayed filled. I will definitely be returning.
Chocolate was an OK place to have a bite to eat. I made reservations so I did have a seat when I got there. The place is very popular with people of all ages. The music was just right, not loud where you can't talk to each other. The food was good and tasty but it was just average. The service needs to be more organized and attentive though they were very pleasant. If I'm in Harlem again I would visit. Nice place with a nice vibe, and good food.
We went on a Sunday morning around noon. Wasn't too crowded at all. We opted for the mimosas which were bottomless around $25. They have 4 flavors. We got the honey biscuits and shrimp for starters which were definitely really good. That was the best part of the meal honestly. Pancakes were ok. Service was decent. Benedict looked good and I know the grits were good as well. Portions are definitely a good size. Took a while for us to get the check. However a big party did come in. 18% is added automatically for parties with 2 or more. I would definitely comeback.
The food was fabulous. The service not so good. There were 3 of us. 1 person drinking the mimosa special. She had to keep asking for a refill. No other guests should know what anyone is drinking. There was hardly no one in the place. Servers just standing around talking w the bartender. Not the best look for a tourist like myself. I had a question about the menu. Had to get up, interrupt the chatting and ask a question. Very dissappointed in the service. WE can do better. I still tipped 25 percent. WE must do better.

Fusion Soul Food. Delicious and savory. Worth the wait because they cook to order. The Snapper and Avocado Salad were my choices and my friend had the Catfish which was delicious and well seasoned.

I have been to this spot once before but this is my first review. The girls and I made reservations for 10ppl for 1pm. When I arrived I had to find steet parking and found parking on the street eventually. I walked over and the hostess told me I had to wait for the rest of the party before they sat me. The place is kind of small and all the big tables were all taken and they didn't look like they were leaving anytime soon. Mind you, I got there like 20 minutes earlier than our reservations. So, some more ladies showed up and it was now about 1:15 and the larger tables were still unavailable. The restaurant doesn't seem to have seating limits, which they should to accommodate other reservations. It only ended up being 6 of us and they sat us at the top table where there was barely any light up there. Woody was our server and he was really good. I ordered the red sangria and that was $17. For my entrée I ordered the seafood croquettes and plain grits. When my food came out it was kind of cold so I had to send it back to be warmed. I had to add quite a bit of salt so the grits could taste better and the croquettes were just ok. The girls had different meals. One of the girls had the fried chicken and she said it was more breaded that meat. She said she had to search for the meat. All in all the food was just ok. The bill included gratuity and it was close to $60 for my 2 items. This place is a bit overpriced if you ask me. I had an ok experience.
The atmosphere is okay. Though i do feel that the bathrooms need some work in terms of cleaning when it comes to smells. Best not to sit near the back. Staff working the tables were decent for cleanup but other then that staff wasnt as attentive. Chicken and waffles were good. The waffles had a nice frosting on it and was soft very delicious. The bbq burger was very good. The crab ake was okay thought i do feel to much salad not enough crab cake.
The service and drinks were amazing and I thought the food would be too as it has before but I went in with my expectations too high. My calamari was good; however, I was not impressed with the curry remoulade that came with my shrimp. I’d go back because Chocolat has some good items on their menu but the shrimp is NOT IT!
I had a 4:00 pm reservation on 1-16-23. We reached about 15 minutes early and were still seated right away. If you’re looking for non alcoholic beverages on the food menu there’s none. The food menu only shows food & alcoholic drinks. When our server came to our table. My wife asked what non alcoholic beverages do they have? He said I noticed that the 2 of you were flipping the menu over looking for non alcoholic beverages. If he noticed that the right thing he should’ve done was come to our table a little faster and assist us. Being that you noticed that we were double checking the menu. This is definitely something that he experiences a lot. Food and service was alright. Prices are kinda high for the portions that they serve. One thing I can definitely say is the fried chicken didn’t taste oily. I think the size for beverage’s that they serve should be a little bigger for the $5 price of the lemonade that we each had. At the bottom of the menu it says gratuity is automatically added for parties of 4 or more. It was just me & my wife but 18% gratuity was automatically added. I’m guessing since it was a holiday that’s why it was still added. My experience with some restaurants that automatically charge gratuity service isn't usually good because the server knows that they are getting an automatic tip. I’m definitely used to more attentive servers.
Food & drinks are pretty good. I had the lamb chops and loved them. They were flavorful. My friend had the smallest snapper I’ve ever seen served at a restaurant, or in my life actually. My other friend had fried chicken and we weren’t blown away. Biscuits were to die for !! Fried shrimp were good too. Chocolate Martini was great, thanks Sergio. Now to the cons, the lack of urgency in this place is crazy. Staff moves very slow. I watched several tables just sitting there waiting for their bill , waiting with empty glasses for so long. My table and I were trying to flag Sarah down for a while as we watched her talk, laugh, and hang with other employees. No bueno. No reason why I should be raising my hand in desperation for you to take my money. The problem is that the gratuity is already included, so the servers may not feel the pressure to work as hard, but that doesn’t mean you don’t provide basic service. Gratuity was included even for two people at the bar. Bringing two chocolate martinis up to a whopping $50!! Not a Bad place to visit , but not if you’re in a rush , looking for excellent service , or are on a budget.
I came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Upon sitting down, it took 10 minutes for a waiter to come take our order. We ordered the red velvet pancakes with fried chicken, red velvet pancake with fried catfish, cheese grits as a side and unlimited mimosas for drinks. I asked before ordering if I could order dark meat and was told no they don’t accept substitutions. I was told I would get half a chicken. It sucked when I only got 1 wing and 3 back pieces. I wanted the breast, leg, wing and thigh. The chicken was good and crunchy but needed more seasoning and less breading. The red velvet pancake and waffle was very good. The white icing made it phenomenal. The fried catfish was seasoned really well but had a lot of breading. The cheese grits was the best part of the food. I would definitely go back to get this. The mimosas was great and the waiter made sure to keep refilling our cups. Ultimately, I would love to come back for dinner. The dinner menu look really appetizing.
I forgot I went here, but I took my daughter here because she had got a perfect report card and it was a spur of the moment type thing. Everything was good. It was empty I guess because of the time in the day we went. Food was really good. She enjoyed her. I enjoyed my food as well. The only thing I can honestly say is, the restaurant smell like dirty mop, water.
Visited on a Sunday and the outside seating was packed but inside was spacious. Took a bit to be seated and get the check, not sure if they are short staffed. Pros: Nice outdoor appearance, Lively music, and good food. I ordered the lobster Mac n cheese, avocado salad, and red velvet pancakes with fried chicken. Cons: The restrooms are close to dining area with open door. Needlessly to say that can be unpleasant if seated there. The water taste weird and the restaurant has an ordor. The prices are high for simple dishes. There was already 18% gratuity included on the bill, for a table of 2 was about $130. Overall, this is a great place to share dishes and the bill.
Went her for my sister husband birthday today! The hostess at the door had an attitude! We had reservations! She just had a bad attitude that ruined it for us I spent over 300$ at this restaurant. Won’t happen again! Shrimp $ grits was to salty! My salmon was good! My guest said they enjoyed their lamb chops! Our waiter was pleasant! Just hostess change the hole vibe! Last but not least 15$ per slice I think is a bit pricey!!
Food decent. Good portions. Customer service lacking and we were the only ones waiting to be served for a good 30 mins. It made sense once the check came - saw gratuity was included.

Overall the food was ok. Shrimp were a little overcooked. Service was good. Nice ambiance. Very overpriced.

Never have I ever been to a restaurant and not received complimentary bread or biscuits on the table, your prices are exorbitant for the small portions you're serving, no freeze fills on sodas and …
$34 for a small bowl of anything is crazy work. I was a sous chef and the same bowl my lobster Mac came in was the same bowl I served French onion soup in. overpriced portions.

Alittle surprised at this turn out... Being that this place is known for being popular decided to give it a try, as a solo diner. Music was good, however I guess because I was by myself I wasn't a priority it took 30 minutes for them to even take my order & the place was half occupied. I ordered a sangria which will always be good because nothing has to be done to it. For an appetizer I got the southern fried chicken which turned out to be tenders it was so fried so hard that they were dry but on top of it there was no seasoning at all which was such a disappointment. As an entree I got the grilled scottish salmon.... (sigh) the presenation was cute but it just taste like they topped the plate w/frozen spinach grilled the salmon with once again no season even if they had a lemon to squeeze on top just give some type of flavor. I wouldn't come back thanks for the experience though.
Section reserved for 2 birthday parties. Servers could not figure out how to take individual orders, but managed to take orders at the bar just for the servers to bring the food to individual tables. Huh???? Doesn't make sense. Lost revenue when you let people walk out because of poor practices. The bartender is slow. Bartenders should never turn their backs to a customer to pour a drink or to grab a bottle off of a shelf. The food was tasty. Just had appetizers. Overall, this restaurant needs to work on serving the customers. At the end, we got 1 sensible person to ask if everyone was ok. At this point, it's a tad bit too late.
I went with my family to celebrate me and my grandmother’s birthday, there were 6 of us and no one enjoyed their meal. I had the red snapper Jamaican escovitch style and my pops had the snapper fried. It tasted like it was fried the day before, hardly any fish and the sides were flavorless . The manager apologized but was not trying to compensate us and our bill was over 400$ . Won’t be going there again and I’m hungry !
There was mold on the cheese in my meal, which was understandably concerning. I appreciate that the kitchen promptly remade the dish. However, I felt the overall guest experience could have been handled with more care. A manager did not come to the table to acknowledge the issue, and there was no follow-up gesture such as a dessert or adjustment to the bill. I was still charged full price for the entrée. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes it helps enhance how food safety concerns are addressed in the future, ensuring guests feel supported and well taken care of.

This is the first time I have come here and not like anything. The place had a smell like there was mold in there which was off putting. The prices were way too high more than i remember and the portions were small. The service was bad waiters were just watching the game and we were sitting there waiting too long to give our orders. Unfortunately I won’t be returning again.
When I entered nobody approached me and I had to talk all the way to the back of the restaurant to ask to be seated. She then proceed to point and tell me where to sit instead of guiding me to a table. I had to get up and walk to the back again to ask to order after attempting to get her attention several times. The waitress was lazy and had a bad attitude, she would rather remain in the back of the restaurant or sit and have a hour long conversation with another customer instead of assessing the needs of the other customers. The food came in 25 minutes and I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food compared to the price. The steak mac & cheese was soupy and flavorless, the cornbread was dry and had hard pieces of corn inside of it, the collard greens was flavorless and tasted like it came out of a can. The only thing I enjoyed was the Chocolat burger and fries. The place itself has a nice set up and the music is good but the food is definitely overpriced for the value and the customer service was nonexistent.
I made reservations for 12:30 why is it 1:30 and I’m here seated at the bar. I’ve waited to be seated have not been seated people have came in after me and been seated. A couple came in and they’ve separated a table so the two can be seated. Mind you my party is a party of two as well. They didn’t ask my name look up the reservation or anything. I called to speak to the manager and they refused to get the manager in person or put her on the phone all they said was she’s in her office. I am truly disgusted never again
We planned a small engagement party (15 people) in there VIP room because I was there a few times before and the food was good. We called a week prior to reserve room and 4 hours prior to confirm, when we arrived there was No manager!!! on site. The VIP room that we reserved was taken by a random group that just walked in. The host claimed there was nothing she could do. With 15 people in our party and some that traveled all the way from Maryland we couldn't just leave. Plus it was Saturday night and raining. So they put tables together in the main dining room. We already prepaid for a pre-fixed menu by phone. They had 1 waitress and no menus, she handed out copies of the invoice as menus with no sides options on it (I lived in the city my whole life and never seen anything like this) never asked what we wanted to drink! put water on table, our guest had to go to the bar and order their own drinks, 1 bartender by the way so every drink took 15 min to make, no beer!!! (They claimed they ran out), chocolate cake was supposed to be on prefix menu but they never brought them out we had to go to the back and ask for it. but the staff was cleaning up to close so they put the cakes in boxes for my guest to take. We were embarrassed. We will always support black owned businesses but Chocolat did themselves no favors. We had guest of all races from all over NY and Maryland that left this place and will never come back or tell their friends which is a shame cause the food does taste good. We received no discount, no apology, no email, no phone call. No manager on site is crazy!
The service was extremely poor the waiter never wrote down our order, he did it by memory, as a result the items I order to go were not as they should have been. And one I never got. I order collard greens and kale to go and I never received it. The worse of the worse was the oxtails. The oxtails were sold at $42 for 3 pieces of oxtail. Unfortunately, these orders were to go so I didn't see it until I arrived home. I will return tomorrow to return it. I will NOT pay $42 for three oxtails. Now on to the chicken. I also ordered fried chicken to go, which the chicken was good, however I don't know what pieces I got. The only one I knew was the wing. What happens to legs and thighs. Why did I get the breast cut up and make people think they have multiple pieces of chicken. The only recognizable pieces were the wings. Next I order a cosmopolitan which was awesome. And I wanted to a order another. But, the waiter was no where to be found. You must get a professional to your wait staff. And on busy days hire additional staff if needed. You have a beautiful restaurant, the food isn't bad, but $42 for three oxtails is unbelievable. Please do better. As a black women living in Harlem for over 70 years I like to support my people. Your restaurant is making it very hard to do that. Listen to your costumers. In all of yours reviews your costumers complain about poor services, now I understand why. I will never buy take out food again, I spent almost $300 at your restaurant and was disappointed. The collard greens and kale I never got. Thank you. PS. I hope you see this review and respond And the food is overpriced Your restaurant should not be taking credit cards away from the table and should take the payment at the table.
