The Sipping Room Hastings Reviews
We love this place and have returned numerous times over the Christmas period - two years running. The food is amazing - and we think it’s among some of the best value/high-quality food available. It obviously can’t compete with beachside locations and sunset views, but the food really is better than you’ll get at almost all such venues. The drinks and cocktails are also very high quality with fantastic bar staff. We did have some service issues tonight, but that was due to high demand and an issue with a brand new waitress. What’s important is how those issues are dealt with - and the owner dealt with the issue absolutely impeccably (thank you). I can’t recommend this place highly enough for amazing food, great value - and as a family business that wants to deliver the highest quality food and service. Inside is low-lighting and intimate with a great bar. Outside is also a nice, cosy and relaxed place to eat. We will return and I highly recommend you give this a go. Love the black barrel rum sours (among THE best), and the steak sliders and blackened catch of the day with garlic mash are both outstanding.
Lovely meal, great staff. Relaxing vibe indoors, great place for a drink, with tables outdoors in a narrow alley. Worth a visit
Another gem on this island; we had great drinks, excellent food, lovely service. The people in Barbados are so amazingly friendly, it is just makes everything so much better. Our waiter was not any different, he was so engaged, quick, helpful… Thank you! If we can, we come back. Ps. Please serve wine in wine glasses and do not chill red wine. Otherwise everything 5* easy. Catch of the day was fantastic!
Wow best meal we had while in Barbados! Wonderful staff, delicious cocktails and the most amazing barracuda dinner! 5 stars all around
We had an awesome date night at the Sipping Room. Thatmosphere was amazing nice people and the wondeful staff was most courteous and friendly and ....oh my gosh... the food and drinks.... damn delicious and the service was very prompt. We are most definitely returning and bringing friends.
This is a marvelous spot for wonderful drinks and blazing amazing delicious food. If you miss this spot on your trip to Barbados, you only have yourself to blame. The pork belly bites are a MUST. The shrimp and mushroom risotto is divine! There's no going wrong with the Jack Daniel's ribs. The staff is simply incredible and deserve all the kudos I could write here for them. ❤️❤️❤️ EAT & DRINK HERE. You owe it to yourself.
Excellent bar, with a great selection of drinks, food and great people working there.
Great food, atmosphere and the staff. Happy to find the place and spend here the evening.
Had a fabulous meal here last night with my mom. We sat inside and it has a super cool vibe and decor and powerful air con! They have beer on draught which was a novelty. We both ordered the catch of the day (marlin); I had rice and my mom had macaroni pie with it and we shared a side of fries. The fish was incredible and the best we’ve eaten here so far - even beating out Oistin’s Friday fish fry! We shared a bottle of wine and then I had a mojito and she had a G&T. The service was impeccable and so friendly. All in all this is a must visit, whether for cocktails (the mojito was delicious) or a slap up dinner.
5-star vibe! Cozy atmosphere with quality live music. Try the loaded nachos... You'll be pleasantly surprised. This place is a must visit.
6/5 stars… had to add a bonus star.. this place is amazing. Comfortable, great food, amazing drinks, top notch service.. that night.. Shanta Prince & JBani performed live with the sweetest tunes… honestly this place couldn’t be any better, it exceeded my expectations.. I had to make sure I leave a review.
We did brunch here and the atmosphere, the food, the service was all amazing! Can't wait to be back.
The owners make this place a must go to. The sipping Place is a warm cozy establishment with full bar and great appetizers. Owners are very friendly and inviting. Thank you both!
Very quaint. The staff is attentive and the ambiance is soothing, I would definitely recommend this place to solo patrons, couples and small groups. The drinks are divine and there is live music on Sundays.
Fantastic spot! The mixologist is un-contested on the island. Chanté is chef and the whole team is ready to serve unsurpassed food and drinks!
Excellent food, brilliant service and a whisky collection to rival Scotland (and soon Japan...). Cathy and Hosé had a dream...and that dream has shaped up wonderfully...better hosts, you could not wish for. Make the trip to Barbados just for The Sipping Room.
This was one of the best dinners I had in Barbados. Food was delicious, I had fish cakes and pasta with chicken and creamy pesto. Staff was friendly and polite. We had to wait a bit longer for food, but I didn't mind
Had the most amazing steak here, one of the best I've had (and I've had a lot!) - all the other food was great too, Ribs were massive. Service was great. It was really quiet when we went on a Thursday evening, but it didn't bother us.
This cozy & intimate restaurant and bar is the vision of the husband-wife duo, Hosea and Cathy, who are there every night ensuring everything goes smoothly...and it sure does. The staff is courteous and prompt, and make you feel very welcome there. The food menu options are delicious, and the craft cocktails choices are so extensive and amazing. The lighting is dimly lit, giving it the perfect vibe for a date, or a small group of friends.
Went here tonight. Amazing! Had the grilled barracuda, delicious! Service was great, the vibe and de or are awesome. Live music also so good. Wish we lived here, would go all rhetime!
The food the drinks and the service is impeccable. Favourite spot in Barbados without a shadow of a doubt. It’s a sexy modern bar with an amazing selection of rum/gin/tequila. Spicy Margs are 10/10 and the fish cakes are AMAZING. Will be coming back!!
We had a wonderful time, the food and drinks were terrific, the atmosphere has a cool chill vibe. We went on a Tuesday and the music was great, and the fishcakes are a must try, they were delicious!
We initially walked past this place but, having seen the busy outside area at the side, decided to investigate further. So glad we did! We were welcomed straight away and found a table (even though we hadn't booked). Food and cocktails were excellent and the service was great. Highly recommended
Service with a smile! Which I have found very rare on this touristy island. I had the crispy tofu and it was really good. A treat to see tofu on the menu! The atmosphere and food were divine and I highly recommend this little gem!
Some of the best food I have had on Barbados. Looks like a cocktail lounge when you enter but the food is ridiculously good. Try the blackened catch of the day or the risotto. Service is great. Can’t wait to come back.
What a lucky find for us! The Sipping Room was one of our favourite spots in Barbados. We liked it so much we went back a few days later. Cocktails were great - try their famous Spiced Old Fashion or the Rum Sour. The food was a very good portion and delicious. The bar bites are also very well sized and tasty. The service was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. They have an amazing selection of FourSquare Rum I have not seen anywhere else. We will definitely go back next time we are in Barbados. Highly recommend.
Well worth dropping in. You could easily miss this great little place. We just dropped by on a Tuesday evening to get some dinner and a drink but ended up staying a good few hours! We had a warm welcome as soon as we walked in and sat at the bar. The place is air conditioned with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Had a couple of rum punches while we looked at the menu. When the food was ready we were offered the option to eat at the bar, on a table inside or out in the courtyard. We opted for inside. Food was very nice and as we finished our meal a guy with a guitar set up in the corner. He played a fantastic acoustic set which meant we had to stay for more drinks! By the way, they have a massive selection of rums and whiskies if that's your thing. A great little place run by friendly people. We plan to return before we go back home. Thanks for a nice evening guys!
10 out of 10!!! I called about 7:45p for reservation, to my surprise I was actually speaking with the owner who greeted me by my name when we arrived!! The drinks were fantastic, and the food was out of this world. We ordered Thai Curry, Alfredo, and the lobster. Not taking away from the other dishes but the lobster was phenomenal!! The owner even asked if we needed a taxi, and one of the regular customers gave us a ride back to our hotel. Our waiter was also very delightful.
Good service and friendly staff. Not bust during our visit, loved the lobster, mac and cheese.
Cocktails & Comedy happened on the night I visited . Nice and cosy ( very small) All male staff. Music was lovely and soothing . The food is great. Drinks were nice. The tables are coffee sized tables. Nice for grabbing drinks with friends, (they have booths), or it can be an intimate corner for 2. I personally loved it. I'll return soon.
We dropped in for an after dinner drink without a reservation and were seated at the bar. The bar featured live music and a diverse selection of high end spirits.
🌟 5-Star Experience at The Sipping Room – Barbados Gem! 🌟 If you’re visiting Barbados, The Sipping Room is a must! We’re staying at The Crane Resort, and it was a huge bonus that they offer free round-trip transportation—super convenient and a thoughtful touch. From the moment we walked in, the service and food were outstanding. Our server, Todne, was friendly, professional, and made our night extra special. Tavion, the manager, clearly runs a tight ship and pays close attention to every detail. We even had the chance to meet the owners, who were warm and welcoming. 🎶 The live entertainment was the cherry on top—great vibe, great energy. 🍽️ The food? Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We’ll definitely be back and recommend this spot to anyone looking for exceptional dining in Barbados. 📍#TheSippingRoomBarbados #BarbadosDining #CraneResort #BarbadosRestaurants #LiveMusicBarbados #
This was our second visit in a week. Earlier visit was perfect and we had re-booked to get another sample of perfect hospitality and food. As good as the Sipping Room was earlier, tonight’s meal was made perfect by the hug and beautiful smile from Todne … Todne was the reason why we returned to the Sipping Room. She is the best waitress that you’ll ever meet in Barbados and perhaps elsewhere around the globe. I’m sure that Cathy knows how good she is and hopefully pays her accordingly? Despite being full, we were seated immediately, offered water and our drinks of cocktails and beer were served as we chose from the extensive menu. A trio of Beef Sliders & a Burger were duly selected. Both dishes were served on hot plates (very important) and we couldn’t find any fault in the way the food was cooked … absolutely perfect. Having already sampled Cathy’s Carrot Cake I made sure to order it again … a gorgeous hot Chocolate Cake was the other choice. Having washed our food down with the beer and cocktails it was only right to finish the meal with a delicious cappuccino. Todne was ever present to ensure that our evening was perfect… we will definitely return. Stan & Pam xx
Best food we had out here (steak & ribs), staff were friendly, really nice cocktails. The location lets this place down, looks shut from outside, and lots of other restaurants in the area right on the beach.
This place is a hidden gem! You will wonder until you walk in but it's almost like a little speakeasy. Great cozy atmosphere with friendly staff. Food was delicious. Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere. Perfect spot for an intimate occasion. Standard service with good food. I'd recommend each and every drink.
Service was very good However there was a few things not available on the menu when we visited. This was told to us but not until we already spent time looking at the menu. The person was very apologetic which was nice and was no fault of their own, but a little disappointing. The food was very tasty and service was fast considering its a restaurant. Good selection of drinks, also very tasty
Lovely place. Great variety of drinks. Live music (Jazz) was amaaaazing. Only down side is steak cutters, weren't great. Would definitely re-visit
A lovely evening out for cocktails and light bites. When we spoke to the restaurant we were told vegan options were available and upon arrival were told they were not. However, the owners were apologetic and lovely and surprised our friends with a cake to celebrate their wedding. Would definitely return.
Kept seeing this place as I passed on the road and finally decided to go. Called before to make a reservation which was really easy. Walked there so we could both drink and not have to worry about driving. Interior was lovely and air conditioned, which was very welcome with the hot weather we have been having. Staff all very welcoming and friendly. Gave us our choice of where to sit so we chose a high top overlooking the road. Had some cocktails to start, which were quite good. Nice variety of options for dinner. Food was very good and prices, though a little high, were not unreasonable for the quality and quantity. Only mistake I made was having a beer with my Nachos as it left me bloated. Totally my fault. Glad we chose to try them and hope to do it again before the end of the year.
Great little spot, speakeasy type vibes with a great cocktail selection and food menu. Staff were attentive and friendly, drinks were great and the group enjoyed a selection of the daytime menu offerings. Definitely add this to your list of places to check out whether visiting or living in Barbados.
Called on a whim and pleased we did. Excellent service, great drink selection and all the bar team full of fun and energy. Look out for the cheeky names for some of the shots, which we tried. Worth calling in if passing.
Thank you for a great evening. The welcome as a first timer was class, and continued to be throughout my time in your very fine bar. A really nice soothing atmosphere.. I will definitely be back and bring my siblings in.in 2025 for a reunion.
Oh man, I looooved the pulled pork sliders. That bun was so very soft and the pulled pork itself had amazing flavour. The bruschetta was a different spin, didn't expect the cheese but it was quite yummy. Fantastic cocktails and I appreciate the willingness to flex on the base spirit E.g gin vs vodka. Go for the Palmeiri... You won't regret it. All of my servers were a vibe in their own way. I really enjoyed it. My neighbouring diners were a bit loud but, that's not the venue's fault lol. I'd prob prefer an option to be spaced out a bit more but will certainly return. Parking is tight on site and you may be blocked it but we found a spot around the corner and easily walked back to avoid that
The staff was incredibly friendly, and the live music, featuring a guitarist/singer added to the great atmosphere. The drinks and food were among the best in the area. While we did wait about 1.5 hours for our food, it was absolutely worth it. We sat inside, where drink service was fast, though the food took longer. If you’re not in a rush, this is definitely one of the best spots in Barbados for a great dining and drinking experience.
I discovered The Sipping Room on Instagram and was really excited to visit! The place looked warm, cozy, and inviting. exactly the vibe I wanted for my upcoming date. I booked a table for 8PM on a Saturday, expecting a memorable experience. Parking was a bit tricky, as I was directed to park in the Trident Insurance car park nearby. It was understandable since the building is on a main road, but just a note for anyone planning a visit. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately, but to my surprise, they seated us outside. This was a real letdown, as I chose Sipping room specifically for the beautiful interior I'd seen online. Outside, we were in a narrow, not-so-comfortable area, which didn’t have the cozy feel I had hoped for. However, I decided not to let it ruin our evening. Our waiter, a slim, light-skinned gentleman, was incredibly kind, humorous, and helpful with the menu. He made sure we knew what items were unavailable, and I appreciated that. Unfortunately, there were two large, loud groups also seated outside, which made it difficult for my date and I to enjoy a conversation. The outdoor area seemed more suited for group gatherings rather than a quiet date. After placing our orders, we waited about 15 minutes only to be informed that they were out of fries, so we had to reorder our meals. We ordered drinks in the meantime, though they accidentally brought out my meal drink first. They quickly corrected it and let me keep the extra drink, which was a nice gesture. However, our meals still took about 45 minutes to arrive. At one point, a staff member offered us a free drink to make up for the wait, which we appreciated. When the food finally arrived, it was decent in size and taste. However, when we got the bill, I noticed they had mistakenly charged us for the original meals we ordered with fries, and our reorders. They corrected it after I pointed it out, but it added to the list of small errors that affected the experience. Overall, between being seated outside, the long wait, and multiple mix-ups, the evening wasn’t as great as I’d hoped. The staff was polite and tried their best, but it seemed like they were a bit overwhelmed. The price also seemed higher than similar dining spots on the island. If you’re thinking of visiting Sipping room, I recommend making an in-house reservation, as this might ensure a better experience. If possible, pre-ordering could help with wait times, and checking the prices ahead might give you a better idea of what to expect. The ambiance inside does look amazing, so hopefully, others can enjoy that aspect without the hiccups we encountered.
Food was good but the service was very slow. They had only 1 cook and the dinner took over 3 hours for just apps and dinner
I rarely feel compelled to write a review days after visiting a place, but this experience at the Sipping Room was so bitter that I had no choice. My friends and I decided to try their "bottomless brunch" this past Sunday, which turned out to be a sham of an experience. The night before, the owner had my friend text her all our brunch orders so they could be "prepared in advance." When we arrived, we were misled right off the bat. The advertisement promised a choice of bottomless mimosas, screwdrivers, and Bloody Marys for $75 BDS, but when we got there, we were told we could only choose one drink for the entire brunch. What a joke. When I told the bartender I wasn't a fan of vodka and asked if I could switch to tequila for the Bloody Marys, he had the nerve to check his watch and say, "It's noon... you're really drinking tequila at this time?" Are you kidding me?? I'm in a bar at noon with a group of friends, and I'm getting judged for my drink choice? Since when is it more acceptable to drink vodka and prosecco than tequila? His attitude was not only condescending but downright rude. And then, the real fun began. The owner greeted us and mentioned that she had forgotten to send our order to the kitchen. All that organizing and texting the night before? Completely pointless. We sat there, famished, with no food. The food arrived over two hours later. And when the food finally arrived, it was a slap in the face. I ordered a Cream Cheese & Smoked Salmon bagel, which cost an outrageous $42 BDS. My friend had ordered a side of honeyed ham, so I decided to get the same side. When my order came out, the ham was slapped onto a soggy salmon bagel. I asked for it to be taken off, and when my bagel came back, it was kind of laughable: barely any cream cheese in it at all, one side completely missing the salmon, and the other side topped with what looked like shredded, canned salmon instead of smoked. And of that, there were meagre slivers of it on that one side. This is what they're charging $42 BDS for? I could name a dozen places on the island that serve a real cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel for a fraction of the price. As for the honeyed ham, it wasn’t even freshly made—it was some abysmal store-bought, pre-sliced garbage. I glanced at my friend's wet omelet, and it was clear she was just as disappointed. She had asked the staff four times for side of toast as well before she eventually got it. I then had to witness the owner scolding her staff for trying to see over my shoulder to check the tip on my $140 BDS bill. Unbelievable. Do I recommend brunch at the Sipping Room? Absolutely not. No, not on your life... Save your money and your time. The place is an scam, with terrible food and mediocre service.
Don’t bother. Waited over two hours for main course gave up paid bill 105 bds dollars for two drinks two starters this is after our first two choices of cocktail were not available. Sat outside very unsecure area we were bothered by two people off the street asking for money. Eventually the waiter closed the gate. They still had the cheek to add service to the bill what an absolute insult. It’s a shame we wasted an evening of our holiday when there are so many excellent restaurants to choose from.
After visiting this place I actually wonder if the reviews are legit .. we were told to scan QR code for menu . only 2 high chair tables and rest are sofas , no interaction at all from any staff member after initial walk in .. After 15 min we rang our taxi and left . I know Barbados is relaxed but I found this place has to be the worst . Oh and the staff were too busy talking amongst themselves , there was one other couple who were eating . So it’s not as if they were overly busy .
