Dis Ole House Long Bay Reviews
This was FANTASTIC! Food was incredible, service was top shelf, and the home you are in makes you feel just like home. Everything made in house and the home made coconut ice cream was next level. Do whatever you can to make sure you have a meal here! The back patio seating is so nice and relaxed. One of my favorite restaurants in all of the Caribbean.
We were on a walk from Bottom Bay when we stumbled upon this lovely like gem of a surprise. We were warmly greeted, seated and provided with cold beverages. The menu wasn't huge, but the options were interesting and our meals were very tasty. We were tired and asked if they could call us a cab, but that wasn't an option. Fear not! Their fabulous bartender drive us home!!! Where else but in Barbados would someone afford you such a kind and generous gesture? Kevin, THANK YOU!! North Americans could learn a lesson or two in Bajan hospitality, kindness, compassion, decency and service.
This place is very beautiful and the ambience was amazing! DiDi greeted us at the door and she really made the night! Our waiters were very sweet and attentive. My food could have been a little bit more hotter, but overall the food was enjoyable. My friends all enjoyed their barracuda meals! I’d definitely like to visit this place again!
Came here in 2022 when it had just opened and it’s the first place we’ve gone to eat since coming back! An absolutely gorgeous setting and delicious food. Staff are lovely and we were treated to some live music which was just fantastic. Couldn’t recommend enough!
Wonderful warm welcome by DeeDee! Incredible authentic Bajan food - so flavorful! Daughter even said it was the best meal she had in years. Great entertainment. Short taxi ride from The Crane Resort.
Great spot to eat outdoors! Menu caters more towards dinner vs lunch but everything we had was delicious.
What an incredible dining experience at Dis Ole House! From the moment we arrived, DiDi's warm and genuine welcome set the tone for the entire evening - her hospitality was absolutely exceptional and made us feel like honored guests rather than just customers. The service continued to impress throughout our meal, with our waitress Kibibe demonstrating remarkable knowledge about the menu, ingredients, and local specialties, helping us navigate the options with expert recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes.
Definitely one of my favourite meals over the years on the island. The best fish cakes. Soups was super tasty. Surf and turf was fab especially the sauce and crunchy vegetables big prawns etc. the service was very polite and friendly. Really lovely gardens and seating etc. thank you
The best sit down restaurant I’ve experienced in life! The food was absolutely amazing. We started off with the fishcakes and the green plantain nachos. For our mains, my husband had the Shrimp Tacos and I had the Surf & Turf - both so delicious. To finish everything off, we had the bread pudding. We pass this restaurant all the time, and never thought to come inside and I am so glad we decided to go in and give it a try. We cannot wait to return
Delicious food! The highlight of the night was definitely the cocktail — highly recommend trying “John’s Input” (the waiter suggested it, and it was absolutely amazing). Portion sizes were generous, the fries were hand-cut, and the burger came with two fresh, juicy patties that tasted like proper fresh meat. The price could be a little better, especially with the service charge, but the service itself was super friendly and helpful. Clean facilities too. One of the best spots I’ve tried so far — strongly recommend for dinner! Also… please make your own hot sauce! This place totally deserves a homemade signature hot sauce — would be the cherry on top! ❤️❤️
It was a most amazing experience from the moment we walked in! The hostess was busy on the telephone, but we were quickly spotted by the two bartenders and made to feel at home. We made the mistake of not having a reservation. Despite the fact that there were no tables left, the hostess still found us a table. The food and drinks were delicious. This was not processed industrial food from some big national supply house; it was locally sourced, and you could tell the difference. Dis Ole House is a highlight of our trip to Barbados, thanks to the staff there!
My husband and I celebrated my birthday and anniversary at Dis Ole House. What a wonderful experience! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who lives in or is visiting Barbados. We will definitely be back when we visit again!!!
We first visited this place in 2024 and were excited to come back again this year. We mentioned on OpenTable that it was our son’s birthday, and they went above and beyond—welcoming us with a beautifully decorated table and festive plates. The food was excellent, the atmosphere inviting, and the staff incredibly friendly. The live music added a perfect touch to the evening. Overall, a five-star experience!
Such a cute place! It’s a little out of the way but totally worth it! The food service and atmosphere are all wonderful. We tried the fish cakes king fish with coucou and the plantain bowl with chicken. Yum!!! For dessert we tried the black rum cake. The extra rum shot was a nice touch
We found this place on our walk back from Bottom Bay! It is quite close to Sam Lords Castle and 5* all inclusive hotel, so we we're preparing ourselves for a pricey meal. We were pleasantly surprised at the short wait and reasonable prices of the food too! The staff were friendly and attentive. There was live entertainment. We ordered a few sides and a main to share and the food was delicious! We had the coconut chickpea curry on its own and it was SO GOOD! Would definitely recommend to anyone passing or staying nearby!
Very attentive staff. Lovely atmosphere in the pretty garden. Food was so good. Well presented, good portions, and delicious. Good vibes with a great playlist in the background! Favourite dinning experience so far on the island! The Bajan Pride should be added to the cocktail menu!
Was pleasantly surprised and impressed with this restaurant. Definitely found a new space for authentic Bajan foods and vibes.
The food was amazing. Our waiter was stellar, but other staff gave us a bit of a hard time for not having a reservation. The seating is outdoors, so there are lizards and bugs. Ice melts rapidly, so your soft drink has no more bubbles. But the food....we went twice!
I throughly enjoyed my dining experience here from the outdoor ambience, to the Adele playlist on repeat, to the taste of the fish cakes and Caribbean catch entree. Everything was great! The service was awesome too! Highly recommend
AMAZING! Get yourself a reservation ASAP! Don't miss out on the best food in Barbados! Great service and lovely atmosphere and music! We loved it so much we book a reservation for tomorrow as well!
Such a fun place and amazing food! Super cute place and amazing service. We had the Bajan fishcakes (tasty little morsels), fresh catch (congoli), gran gran buck pot (local pork), coconut chickpea curry with chicken. I don't eat fish typically and the fish cakes and fresh catch were done really well. The curry was awesome. Definitely worth a visit.
A great vibe, left satisfied will go again. Those fish cakes were the bomb! would recommend for a nice starter, I loved the flavour & texture. The main, the ribs were very soft amd juicy. The service was welcoming and consistant start to finish.
Loved, loved it here. The decor and vibe is great, there are more lounge relax areas and the outside definitely gives beer garden vibes with the string lights, rustic chair and picnic tables. The rum punch was my favorite drink. I loved the menu where you could have cocktails, to flights to a flask of your favorite rum. There were touches that reminded me of my childhood in the caribbean which I appreciated. Overall it didn't disappoint and ill be back.
Beautiful setting, great ambiance delicious food and great service!
Best restaurant on the island. It is a bit of a commute to get there, but 100% worth it. The food was amazing. Shakira, our waitress was very attentive and helpful with her recommendations. Ebony, was also very helpful and welcoming. We ordered the flying fish sandwich, salad, lobster, prawn tacos and plantain bowl. All dishes & desserts were delicious. Will definitely be back. Thank you
Initial welcome and arrival a little disappointing, as had to wait a while for service and we weren't given a drinks menu, only food. However things improved and food, surroundings and ambiance added to a lovely lunchtime group meal in celebration of a birthday. This is a lovely, quirky restaurant, with beautiful outside dinning, a fine selection of rums and a good menu (sadly a few things not available but other options). Staff very polite, albeit slightly disorganised. Absolutely recommend if you're in the area and worth the travel if you're not.
From the time I walked into the waiting area, I knew Dis Ole House was going to be bomb. The decor is gorgeous. There is a old yet modern feel and I love how wood is incorporated into the design. The sweet messages on the dry coconuts was a good feel. The food was great and I will definitely visit again. One complaint - the service was a bit slow as they seemed to have one waitress taking care of the whole floor but the wait was worth it. PS - the food was so good I forgot to take pics of the main dish
limited menu due due to no electricity in the area and also.no wifi so could not pay by card which was sad as couldn't tip the waiter what he deserved due to limited cash food was on time and tasty staff professional location clean bathroom clean and smell fresh
Julia handled our reservation expertly even in our lateness while Reco and Marsha were courteous and knowledgeable hosts/wait staff. It was awesome the way all the staff were polite and smiling even though not assigned to our table. The ambiance and atmosphere...⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you, we will definitely be back
Friendly staff. Great Service. Excellent food. Dis ole house pie (macaroni pie) is the best I tasted on the island. Delicious vegetarian options. I had the plantain bowl the first time we visited. Food is so good we came back again. I had the garden pasta the 2nd time. Both delicious! Shakera & Ebonee are wonderful servers! Reservations recommended, so call in advance.
We had a wonderful time at Dis Ole House this evening. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and attentive and all the food and drinks we had were delicious. They also included a lovely birthday surprise. I’m not sure why others have given this place 1 star as that was not our experience at all. Please give this lovely restaurant a try as I’m certain you won’t be disappointed.
My family and I had the pleasure of dining at this charming restaurant while on vacation in August 2025, and we were thoroughly delighted with the experience. The rustic, quaint atmosphere added an authentic local touch that was exactly what we were hoping for. Every staff member we met was courteous, friendly, and genuinely warm, which made us feel so welcome. The Crispy Whole Fish, recommended by our host, was perfectly prepared and full of flavour. So delicious! And the breadfruit fries, so good! We enjoyed every moment of this dining experience, and we would recommend this gem to anyone visiting Barbados.
I love this place and it is now my go to destination whenever im in the area. I eat out alot. far more than most dis ole house is exceptional. delicious food. Well made drinks and customer service that feels so warm and inviting. I cannot wait to go back yet, yet again. and then again ;)
Delicious food, a great & welcoming team and a very nice ambiance! We had fish cakes and barracuda and everything was very tasty. The setup in the garden was intimate yet vibey. Highly recommend if you are staying in St Philip area!
We ate here on Thursday evening last week, from the moment we walked in and were met at the door by Hostess Dee Dee our experience was absolutely fabulous. The setting is just beautiful, the food was absolutely gorgeous and we were served by Ronaldo, a lovely young man with fantastic, attentive customer service skills, who was happy to chat and suggest a dessert for us. Lovely to see people who show they absolutely love what they are doing. Chatted to the owner on the way out also and expressed our thanks for such an enjoyable evening. Well worth a visit
Great little place. They have an extensive dinner menu and a nice prefix lunch menu. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if your staying at Wyndham Sam Lorde or The Crane.
My wife and I ate our way across this island from one glittering waterside establishment to another, each boasting to be “the finest in Barbados.” They served their ribeyes and sushi with the confidence of men who had discovered the secret to paradise, but nary a grain of Bajan soul could be found on those polished plates. Then came Dis Ole House, a place that doesn’t pretend or posture... it remembers. The food here doesn’t try to be French, Japanese, or cosmopolitan; it simply strives to be true to the culture. Every bite carries the slow wisdom of the island: fresh ingredients handled with grace, the kind of flavor that tells you someone’s grandmother is still whispering over the stove. It’s worth the trek, no matter where you rest your head on this island. You come here not merely to eat, but to understand Barbados through its food. While others chase refinement, Dis Ole House delivers something rarer: authenticity served with style and a wink from history itself.
Our first dinner in barbados. Service was great...everyone very friendly and attentive. Wife had the Caribbean catch (blackened). Spices and coconut rice were on point. I had the oxtail stew. Great flavors...perfect balance of heat..not a dish if you are super hungry. Drinks were excellent. Was bummed the pastry chef was out which impacted availability of what sounded like some delicious desserts. Next time in barbados we'll be back to hit the rest of the menu.
Good atmosphere, plus I manage to go there on the night they had live music which was ok. Had the oxtail which was flavourful but not tender, so that was a struggle. GF had the chicken was again flavourful but a bit dry. Service was better than some of the other restaurants I’ve been to on the island but not great. Wet napkins were placed on the table and when I asked for new ones, that took a long time.
I went to this restaurant with my partner for his bday on Jan 10.26. Good menu options. My partner has a full course meal I orders appetizers and add one. Wings. Fish Cakes, Garlic Mash and Okra. Most of my food was cold. My partner's was warm he jad a chicken main course with coconut rice cole slaw macaroni pie. The Mac pie was delicious. Although food was basic and not served hot I would go there again without hesitation. They have a good cocktail list.
Had lunch at Dis Ole House with my family — my cousin, aunt, and mom — and the food overall was excellent: flavourful, tasty, and well prepared. The experience became a little bittersweet when one pork chop dish arrived overly fatty with very little meat. The initial response from the supervisor felt defensive, and the suggestion to pay full price for the unsatisfactory dish and half price for a replacement didn’t feel fair. Thankfully, the warmth and hospitality of the hostess Dee and our server Lajuan - admittedly sweeter than the dessert - completely lifted the experience. Their kindness and attentiveness turned what could have been a negative visit into a much better one. Great food and atmosphere overall, with just a little room for improvement in how guest concerns are handled.
Nestled in the Saint Philip area of Barbados, Dis Ole House is like stepping into a private home for a special occasion. Upon walking in there is a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. With a lush backyard dining room you get an appreciation for the natural beauty of the island. Do know that if you are eating in the evening, you will want to put in mosquito repellent as you will tested by the local bugs. While the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, I had the opportunity to try their dinner service. A seafood forward menu, the fish cakes and stewed fish with dumplings were two standout dishes. Dis Ole House is a great option for group meals and more relaxed occasions.
Did Ole House lived up to my expectations. Great blend of old and new. I love the mugs used for water like the ones my grandmother used and the wooden boards used to serve my meal. The staff were friendly and live music was playing, which was a really nice touch. I loved all the wooden tables as well and the cool open air breeze and great company. I had fish cakes with my favorite Mara rose dip as my appetizer, ribs and fries with coleslaw as my main and for dessert I indulged in bread pudding. All tasty! My videos below are of my night visit but I’ll be back again to experience it in the day!
The ambience and atmosphere at Disolehouse is inviting and makes you feel comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and seem genuinely happy to work there. The food was good but not exceptional and the portion size was decent. I would recommend the Bajan bakes and the fishcakes, I enjoyed those the most. The savoury pancake was different but still enjoyable. Overall I would return to Disolehouse.
I highly recommended this restaurant to my family for lunch. I had been on several occasions - for brunch, lunch and dinner and found the food to be consistently great and the service to be warm and attentive. However, this time, with my family in tow, the experience was not as positive. The host was inviting and welcoming and really set the tone for how the afternoon started. Our waiter, Lajuan, was really great - friendly, humorous and offering menu suggestions and alternatives given that a number of favorites weren’t available on the menu. Things took a turn, however, when the entrees came and there was an issue with one of the dishes. The cut of meat on one of the entrees was of poor quality and the main starch served was not what was on the menu and requested. In talking to the supervisor, the recourse offered quite flippantly was to buy a replacement entree at half price (while still paying for the initial entree) which did not at all seem like a fair or reasonable solution. After much back and forth with the supervisor, the matter was eventually settled; however, the way it was handled was quite poor. I hope that service issues like this can be better handled in the future so as not to mar the dining experience, especially for first-time guests. It really is a great restaurant that I would usually recommend highly.
This was the 1st time for my friends and I and we had brunch. I loved the rustic feel of the place. Food and drinks were nice! Service was good.. but those chairs... I'm sorry but I recommend cushions for the chairs. It was uncomfortable the entire time. Other than that the experience was lovely and I'd definitely return :)
My family & I went to dis ole house this past Wednesday; the ambiance is amazing , the staff are warm & welcoming. But the food was a bit underwhelming ; i started with the pigtail bites & breadfruit fries & fish cakes the fish cakes were lovely! But the pigtail & breadfruit fries were extremely cold. As a main I got ribs & fries which were okay. A few of my family members got fried pork which was extremely tough & chewy majority of them chose to just eat it to avoid a long wait. But one was sent back & replaced with the ribs. The wait time for that particular order took us well past closing time & had to be placed in a to go box. Then the wait time for the bill was also ridiculous.
I had high expectations for Dis Ole House but was sadly disappointed. This review is solely based on a set menu served on New Years Eve. First, the good: - ambiance 10/10 - hostess was lovely, server was warm and apologetic - Food DID taste good…albeit had some issues The not so good: - It was $125pp USD ($250BBD) for a 3 course meal and I did not feel it was good value. I made reservations in advance but the set menu/price was not advertised…so I thought we’d be paying regular menu prices. It was supposed to be a 4 course meal (on the menu provided) but we were told the 2nd course was not an option. So you are no longer getting what you’re paying for…? - Portion size was small and I left hungry. The roti was four pieces of ravioli sized crisps. The Shepards pie was about 10 bites. My dessert was a slice of pineapple and ice cream. I can’t justify the price here! To be honest, it felt scammy. - We were informed there was no bartender, so drinks limited to beer/wine (only ordered two). - The flow of service was an issue. Drinks and appetizer came out fine, then as the restaurant filled up, it seems they couldn’t keep up with the orders. We waited over an hour for our dessert, and ended up being there for 3 hours with a small child in tow :( Another table with a baby just up and left after waiting for their drinks and app for an hour. - No live music. Not a dealbreaker, but for NYE I was hopeful. - Our bill was close to $1000BBD for 3 adults and a child. This was twice as much as a 5 star dinner we had at a nearby restaurant. Anyway, this place has tons of potential, and the food was good. But the flow and service needs improvement. Outside of our ridiculously expensive meal, I’m sure you get decent value for the food normally.
OK! Where to start. Lets get the good bit done. Dee. Just Fabulous 👌. Fishcakes very nice. Now to the bad stuff. Waitress decided to change our order then lied to the manager, so we suggested that they comp a new starter($30) the manager said no but the offered a,$30 cocktail on the house which was the same price as the starer! So why not just comp the starter? 2nd manager came out stated that we were hostile. We just stayed fact. Nothing wrong with that. Food. Cold fries 🍟 a burger that was over cooked tasted pre cooked and reheated now over cooked. No surf n turf no frizzy salt fish no coucou. Then the waitress said a sarcastic comment while clearing the plates and giving the bill to rid of us. Should we menstion the chicken that was wooden. No desert menu offered. So your choice for sub standard $500 spent!.
Today me and my family unfortunately ate here. Things were lovely up until the starters came out, me and another party ordered wings and only one set was brought out. The waitress somehow conjured up the idea that we wanted to share? Fine, a mistake was made on their side but instead of being apologetic and admitting the mistake with grace she was firm that we were wrong. we escalated this as the dinner was now messed up due to the other party's starters coming with his main and unfortunately his mains were cold by the time he got to them. We called the manager who offered him a free complimentary drink ($25) but refused to comp the wings ($30) which is ridiculous. We called the manager above this manager who confused our frustration with hostility as the waitress lied to the manager about what truly happened. The waitress we had was sour, rude and had a horrible attitude. Maybe we would've let it slide if the food was actually good. On top of this, we didn't get a chance to get dessert since the bill was slapped on our table before we even got to see the menu. on a brighter note, the host was an absolute doll– she's amazing has a great vibe and personality. as for the food though, a solid 3/10, those marks are for presentation and presentation only.
