El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant #6 Helotes Reviews
This is my go-to place for menudo! Tacos are excellent! Enchiladas are fantastic! It wouldn't be right if I didn't say that all the food here is so good!
The staff are like family! Great place good affordable Mexican food
This place reminds me of how Mexican restaurants used to be, staff was very friendly and funny. Food was very good, sauces on the table which is a must for me. Very fair prices. Love this place!
I love this place! The other day I was just craving caldo and though I wasn't sure, I was pleasantly surprised, of course they got it! I'm never disappointed when I come here, the food slaps, the servers are fabulous and the restaurant is always clean and orderly. I will keep coming back!
When you want the flavor of a Mexican neighborhood restaurant, this is the place to go. Great food, big portions, great price, great service!
Everytime we visit Corpus Christi this is the only place we love to eat. All their food is delicious. Friendly waitresses. A lot of food at the prices are very reasonable. Great place to eat.
I knew I was going to love this place when I heard Frontera music blasting out of the kitchen when we walked in. It's a hole in the wall and the interior is super dated but staff is super friendly and their food is on point (for San Antonio). I definitely recommend trying their Breakfast and Dinner plates.
We tried to visit a Cafe a couple of feet next to this restaurant on Saturday day morning. The Google Maps hours said it was open but when we arrived around 7:45AM it was closed. We decided to try this place. Very nice staff and food was yummy! It was meant to be! It's a small restaurant so I can see where there might be a wait for rush hour times. My husband ordered huevos rancheros with barbacoa and a side of bacon. Sounded so good so I asked for the same thing. I added a waffle to try it out and tasted like cake ♡. Coffee was good as well! The ranchera sauce was on the side and it was very good when added to our eggs. It was a lot of food for me that I made a bean and cheese with bacon taco and a barbacoa and potatoes taco with my leftovers and we ate it later in the day. The atmosphere was very friendly and we will definitely be back.
I have to admit with all the options, shame on my for forgetting this local Tex-Mex right in my Momma’s back yard. El Rodeo is a delightful surprise. Some truly fresh homemade salsa with many options Rojo, Verde and Guacamole. My Fajitas Texana were great. Fresh grilled, lightly seasoned, nice mix of shrimp, beef and chicken. Best part light on oil. My plate was $11 and had enough meat for 4 tortillas. I recommend their handmade corn😉! Great price, prompt service, piping hot in just a few minutes. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed! Update after our visit today 5/7/2022. I am just blown away by the quality and quantity of the servings at this amazing little restaurant. Today I tried the Molcajete and it was scorching hot. It sizzled and simmered my whole meal. Beef, chicken, shrimp, onions, peppers, all Smothered with fresh Queso Blanco and seasoned tomatoes on top. I’m a clean plate guy, and I couldn’t do it! A fail today, means lunch tomorrow.
The food was absolutely delicious. We got a burrito with ground beef and with potatoes instead of the rice. The enchiladas were just as good. For me the potatoes set the plate a step above. Most places don't sub out the rice so that was awesome. I got a coffee and had to wait quite a while to have it filled I was almost done with my lunch before getting my coffee refilled. Honestly if that's the worst in my meal I don't have much to complain about more so say I would go without coffee for food this delicious. The food was moist, tender, and just down right delicious.
Went there today for menudo. Was given a starafoam cup with a sheet of alunium rap to cover it. What a joke!!!!. Everyone else puts it a plastic cotainer just in cae to prevent spilling. And they give very little onions and cilantro and NO Lime or Lemon which probably cost them less than 50 cents for that!
The food is good. But the customer service sucks. The newer staff need customer service training they have such an ugly attitude. I have ordered to go service more than a handful of times, and they usually leave something out, which has been practically every time i have gone lately. So I tend to check before I leave, and they give me attitude when I let them know something is missing.
They close at 2200 not 2300 seven days a week. Arrived at 2145. To go orders only. I get it they want to go home. The beans and rice were pretty good as was the carne guizada. The enchiladas sucked! The salsa was decent. There was a huge cockroach by the counter. The staff wasn’t overly concerned about it. My daughter was kind of shocked at their lack of urgency when there was a 1” cockroach walking across their floor. I won’t be back.
A shame because I tried to give this place a second chance after a bad experience the first time around a year ago but I just can’t give it more than 1 star. It was crowded but I noticed that the waitresses were going to all the tables constantly except ours. Not sure why. The waitress literally came to our table of her own free will two times. To take our order (after sitting there for about 10 minutes) and to bring our food. The other times for things like silverware, refill of coffee or water… we had to flag her down. The beans tasted and looked like they were old (crusty and dry), potatoes tasted like dirty dishwater, and tortillas were gummy like Taco Bell or Mission brand tortillas. Not the authentic taste of a homemade tortilla cooked on a comal with the flour/dusty feel that we’re accustomed to. I’m not sure what chilaquiles are to them but even after saying chilaquiles con huevo it’s still an after thought and just thrown on the plate. I did see a picture of true chilaquiles in their reviews from about a month ago but maybe they call those huevos a la Mexicana with chips? Sad to say because it’s close by, but we won’t be back.
