Koffee Kup Hico Reviews
We went out of our way to stop here on our way to San Antonio. We had been once before and it was soooo good and really like the small town hospitality. You have to check it out!!!
You will not find food and desserts like this place. The quantity and freshness is out of this world. We have been coming here since I was a little girl. I'm 29 now and we continue to make stops on our way home. The staff goes out of their way. Don't miss this stop. You won't regret it.
Love the food! I always get the fried chicken salad and it’s amazing. (The cherry pie is also so good!) The only time a mistake was made on my order they were so sweet in fixing it and I really appreciated it! Highly recommend!!
We had burgers, fries and onion rings. Their burgers were more than enough! I had a hard time finishing up my burger and onion rings, and I tend to eat as much as a man. It's worth every bit!! Even the dill pickle was tasty 😋 Our waitress was a young lady and she did a great job on taking care of us and checking on our needs. A must stop place, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for our first time experience we sure will be back next time
We drove through Hico on our way to Paris and stopped at the Koffee Kup, we were not disappointed! Everything they brought out looked amazing- especially the onion rings. We eat a low carb/low sugar diet and they had a section of the menu for low carb options! So hard to find at other restaurants! They also had two homemade pies that we're sugar free! It was an amazing time, small town comfy diner with great coffee.
We stopped here to try out the traditional chicken fried steak (CFS). It was a very ample portion, we could have shared it between us. Came with soup or salad (we got salad), rolls (good, we split one), and steak fries or onion rings (we each got one or the other so we could try both). The CFS was really good. My wife is on a reduced salt diet, and noted that neither the steak fries or onion rings came salted, salt shaker was on the table. Even the CFS and the white gravy were light on the salt. Quite unusual, but great! We didn't have room for dessert then, but got a slice of Apple pie for later. It is cash only, but many country cafes want to avoid the 3% to 5% credit surcharge.
Just dropped in from England travelling between Dallas and Austin. Wonderful place with great service, food and patrons. Thank you for a great lunch! Lorraine, David and Penny.
The onion rings were delicious and so was the club sandwich. We got dessert to go, Doctors Visit Pie...WOW!
An old fashioned diner style restaurant. Great pie selection. Really tasty home made pies. Other food items are good. Have never had a bad meal at this location. Love their soup.
The service was fast friendly and phenomenal. They were packed the whole time we were there and yet they never slowed down. They work very well as a team.
This place is amazing the food was spectacular the portions were beyond huge I cannot brag on this place enough I don't believe I've ever eaten at a place that had better food better service it is definitely worth the trip
We had a great experience here. I always use to past by this place when we would go visit my mom in stephenville and I use to hear crazy stories about it, so I was scared of going to eat there. However we were on our way to Graham, Tx, and we decided to stop at the Koffee Kup and eat lunch. It was a very friendly place, with friendly people and GREAT food! I loved my chicken fried steak with okra and mash potatoes. Our kids shared a kids meal and they were full and satisfied! When we went to pay our waiter tells us that someone paid for our meal. Wow that was the first time something like that ever happened to us. We felt so Blessed! I definitely recommend this place.
INSANE...!!!! We're on our way to Enchanted Rock, from Arlington. Googly brought us through Hico. Was a little past time to stop for lunch. We found Koffee Kup and are blown away by the experience. We'll likely come back here from Arlington just for lunch or dinner another time because it's worth it@
Our first time here and we just stopped for pie - IT WAS DELICIOUS! The service was super friendly, she didn’t rush us at all and was incredibly personable! As we ate our pie we watched a number of menu items get delivered to other tables. It all looked magnificent! We will definitely stop by again! What a treasure!!!!
Down home Cafe with the drive-thru. Don't really need to say much more than that. I can get chicken fried steak or biscuits and gravy through a window... I'm sold
Very hometown diner. Smaller dining area with pocket doors to a larger area for families, etc. Food was quite good. Burgers were cooked as ordered, all was fine!
Very delicious! Came here with my great grandparents and great uncle. We enjoyed it highly! Our waitress was extremely kind. We ordered the chicken and dumplings which was the soup for the day. The chicken in dumplings were extremely tasty with a lovely flavor. Afterwords we ordered some pie. I got the key lime. The key lime was perfectly tart with a cute dollop of whipped cream on top. My great grandmother and great uncle both got the blueberry banana which they quite enjoyed. Last but not least, my great grandfather got a coconut meringue pie which he also enjoyed. Overall it was a very enjoyable family outing.
Stopped by for some donuts and hot drinks for the road, on an early morning drive to Waco. The staff was friendly, and the donuts were delicious! The pies on the cooler behind the counter made me wish we'd had time to stop again on our way back through town. Mile high meringue, and LOTS of flavors to choose from. The food going out to patrons dining in also looked really great. We'll definitely be back!
Passing through and stopped in. The chicken fried steak, sweet tea, and the pecan pie was perfect.
Great tasting food, taste like home. Customer service was amazing as well. Food was nice and fresh❤️
Great food and great service. Waitresses are all so friendly and the food is amazing especially for the price. Very affordable and huge portions especially the kids chicken tenders, they were humongous.
We stopped here on our way through on a long road trip. Oddly enough, my 7 year old son said it was his favorite food ever. It might have been because our sweet server brought him a small cup of pickles to stack up on his burger which made his day. I had the char grilled chicken breast. It was a little strong in flavor but I was very glad to eat something that felt more home cooked when we were sick of eating fast food.
A down home feel with food to match. Lunch specials daily for the work week so reasonably priced and for a full course special (including dessert). Bring cash!! This prob helps them keep their prices down. Highly recommend to eat here if in the Hico, TX area.
It has been years since our previous visit. Thanks life and pandemic. I truly, truly wish the Koffee Kup was just around the corner from our place about 4 hours away. Fresh made, warm yeast rolls, before devouring my special of the day which was Chicken Fried Steak with authentic, creamed potatoes and carrots. Topped off at the end with some astonishing apple crumble with whip cream. That topping, cinnamon, nutmeg, a dash of allspice and chunky pecans. Three fab lunch specials with entrees, sides, rolls and desert… all for less than $10/person.
When visiting Hico, Texas today, I decided on Koffee Kup as my food stop. Koffee Kup is one of them awesome, family owned restaurants, the type of places I love to support the most. They don't disappoint that's for sure. Delicious food, great prices, relaxing environment, outstanding service is all offered at Koffee Kup. If you're in Hico, Texas and find yourself hungry, grab a bite to eat at Koffee Kup, you won't be disappointed. Additional parking is available out behind Koffee Kup.
Howdy I am 50 years old and I have been a customer at this fabulous restaurant since I was in kindergarten. They have the best pie in Texas. The food is cooked with love and at great prices. The atmosphere is warm cozy old time and inviting. The servers are top notch. I get to sit at the old timers table which is an honor.
Finally stopped in, parking lot always seemed busy. Husband loved the fried okra. I got onion rings as one of the two sides and surprised by the amount. Chicken fried steak was good. Got the last of the homemade mashed potatoes made for the day. Service was great and very friendly waitresses. We liked the size of place and even chatted with surrounding tables over the pies and steak. They have a small dirt lot perfect for pick-ups pulling trailers. Definitely stop again if we are passing thru and have time. Asked about the bad reviews about dried out burgers and she explained why.
The Marvelous Blueberry and Banana Pie In the realm of desserts, few creations rival the sheer delight and nostalgia evoked by a well-crafted pie. Amidst the plethora of flavors, the Blueberry and Banana Pie stands as a testament to culinary innovation, blending the tart sweetness of blueberries with the creamy richness of bananas. Here, we delve into the tantalizing world of this divine dessert, exploring its origins, unique flavor profile, and the artistry behind its creation.
Ok it is all about the pie here. The pies are really great. The chicken fried steak looked good. I had a hamburger which was a little overcooked. The sweet potato fries were great as was the club sandwich We got 9 pies for a family gathering and they were a huge hit. The banana blueberry was outstanding unfortunately I didn’t find one that I didn’t like.
The food was very good. The staff was very friendly and professional. It's just an "Old Country Kitchen" type atmosphere. I'm glad that we stopped in to eat there. And I bet you would be to, also.
The Koffee Kup is a hidden gem in the small town of Hico. This is old time eating with meals hand prepared….not out of a box. Very reasonable pricing. We normally travel a different route from North to South Texas but our recent experience has changed our mind. If it’s open when we pass through we’re stopping.
I had seen this on a list of small diners in Texas that you need to try so I had been wanting to try it for a while. It was just what I expected. Very small, full of locals and workers that seemed happy to be there. I had breakfast and it was great! My husband had a hamburger and he said it was good. Got a piece of pie to go and really wished we had two when we ate it later! Nothing fancy but definitely worth the stop if you are in the area!
I like to take the country roads and try to avoid the main highways at all cost, and I'm glad my wife agreed and we ended up finding this diner in Hico TX, we ordered the chicken fried steak and a banana blueberry pie for dessert and it was so good. We will most definitely return back to this diner and we highly recommend this place.
Pies were delightful. ADA wheelchair ♿️ accessible. Was full on a Monday around 2pm. Ordered veggie /beef soup and it was delicious. They lose a star from Atmosphere due to gross meat and food being on the floor with in a foot from me...I never got a refill on a coffee?? And the vent above our booth blew a dust bunny into our plate. Ewww...we took the rest of our delicious food home. Get Pied!
Over our Thanksgiving holiday, we discovered a charming restaurant tucked away in the small town of Hico, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Our host, a kind and welcoming elderly lady, greeted us with the warm Texas hospitality that made us feel right at home. We tried the beef tostada, chicken taco salad, chicken liver, and chicken strips—all of which were absolutely delicious. The portions were so generous that, sadly, we didn’t have room to enjoy their freshly baked pies. If you’re traveling through the scenic Texas Hill Country, I highly recommend stopping by this delightful gem!
Awsome food and service. Famous for the pies and onion rings. Got the swiss mushroom burger with onion rings. Huge portion! Cooked to perfection. Also got the fried mushrooms. You can definitely tell they were fresh, battered and fried. Fabulous!!! Now for the pie. Very hard to decide. I chose the peanut butter meringue. Did not disappoint! Must stop if your in the area!
Stopped in after an event and even at 2:30 place was packed. Food was good, service was quick and price was reasonable for the amount of food we got. Would stop again.

Koffee Kup has the best burgers around and the pie is to die for. A friend of ours says their ribeye is the best they've ever had! Can't wait to try it!!

Stopped for breakfast this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. The biscuits were fluffy and huge. Service was great. Pie and doughnuts looked incredible but we were too full. Reasonably priced.
Terrific local cafe with scratch cooking. Breakfast always done right and any time you can order PIE, don't miss the opportunity.
We came for the recommended pies! Coconut cream and Drs office were incredible with coffee! We will be back for the food which looked so good!

I have heard of this location for years. It was truly great food. We loved it. Everything made from scratch. We had the lunch special. Great prices too.
It's been a while since we've stopped and ate here while driving through Hico. The food and service were good. My husband ordered a steak that was supposed to be cooked medium but it was well done. The waitress handled the situation good. We ordered 2 pieces of pie to go, chocolate meringue and peanut butter meringue. They serve nice size pieces with enormous meringue.
Awesome and neat place to go. Great service. We had chicken fried steak and it was good. Needs a little bit of more seasoning, this is just my opinion. The chicken tortilla soup geez Delicious!! We can try something else next time! But, hey, the ladies who will serve you are AWESOME!
Love the pie! Lots of excellent choices. Chocolate meringue and apple are two of my 😍
We went to try the fabled mile-high pie, but got sidetracked by the burgers and chicken fried steak! This cream cheese jalapeño burger made the Texas Monthly list of 50 best burgers a few years ago, and I agree! Delicious! Small-town friendly with mostly home-style comfort food. Worth the trip on a weekend or stop in as you pass through.
A nice place to eat. They were very busy on a Saturday around 1 pm. We wanted some pies after eating but was full when asked if we wanted pie. We were not ready. 10 mins into eating. When we were done, we left. As I said, they were busy to come back and ask. Food was plenty and good.
Cute little restaurant with good food and friendly service. Chicken fried steak was great. Loved fried pickles. Onion rings were good. Too full to try the pie but it looked good.
Food was very good. Homemade and fresh. Burger and onion rings were excellent. The O-rings were the size of a small Frisbee! Service was pleasant and sweet. We were too full to try one of the 17 delicious looking homemade pies...next time.
Service saved the day on our visit. A late lunch as we were traveling through Hico. We arrived around 2:30 and were seated promptly. Ordered Fried Mushrooms ($4.99) to start the meal. They were freshly fried and had soaked up the hot oil. Ouch! These were good but nothing extraordinary. Boys had the Big K ($9.79) and the BBQ burger ($9.99). Wife had the Grilled Chicken Salad ($7.99). I had the Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts ($9.99). We ended the meal with a slice of Doctor's Office pie. Overall, the food was good. The fry maestro probably had an off-day as the onion rings and my CFC breasts were on the greasy side of preparedness levels. The waitress that took care of us was excellent. She kept our drinks topped off, was pleasant, and made sure everything was going smoothly. The display of meringue pies looked very enticing, but being the 1st day of the new year, the slices will have to wait.

Sorry to say that this place must have seen better days. Salad (hard to mess up) was dry and wilted. The onion rings batter made them chewy (?!?) instead of crispy. Brought some pie home, meh. Same…

Food is great, portions are plentiful. Staffing could use training on customer experience. The larger room closed making our party of six squeeze around a four person table. When we ask if we could place two together we were told “no”, when asked if we could use the other room, “that’s being closed.” I did call ahead and ask if reservations were needed and advised none were needed at 2pm. Like I mentioned, sometimes good, sometimes okay.
Waitress was wonderful when we got there. After the bill was paid, the waitress was non-existent. The chicken strips were excellent. However, the chicken fried steak was not worth eating. We mentioned it to the waitress, and she said, " Yeah, it's kind of hit or miss." Nothing was offered to correct the dissatisfaction. They were out of both options of pie I wanted, so I didn't get any pie, which ironically is their main selling point.
The food is decent. The service is only nice to you if you’re a local. If you’re from out of town they don’t care about you at all and are pretty slow to serve you.
Food was just average, nothing to write home about. Service was good but slow, even though they didn't seem terribly busy.
**CASH ONLY** This place is Ok. Its small town home cooking. Not the best you'll find. I think most people are just not used to home cooking and find it great. If you grew up with it, you'll thinks it's not bad. If you get the pie warmed up, they'll microwave it for a sec. The outsides will be nice and warm, but the inside will be cold. Again, better than anything store bought, but nothing fantastic. Staff was friendly but they are a bit disorganized. Around lunch time, it's a mad house with groups trying to get in (line out the door) and people just trying to pay and get out. No one is really assigned to the cash register, so you have to wait for one of the servers to check you out. It can take several minutes. Again, cash only so the transaction sometimes isn't efficient. They have an ATM onsite with a $4 service fee. Inside is what you can imagine an old diner is like. It's old and clean enough. Now I can't remember if the quality was better 20 yrs ago when I first came, or were my standards/expectations that much lower.
I drove out from Fort Worth and it’s average as far as food goes. I don’t know why I had save it this as a place I wanted to visit, but I did. Burger was okay. Bacon was definitely not cooked fresh. The cheese was good. Onion ring batter was flavorless and the onions inside were dry. I should have gotten. The steak fries or the curly fries as those looked decent. I had to order a strawberry pie as they were out if the first 6 pies I tries to order. Why advertise 17 if you can’t offer up all 17. Pie was okay. Nothing spectacular. All the empty tables were dirty and took 10 minutes before anyone cleared any of them off. One customer sat down and the waitress looked annoyed that she had to clean it off. All in all, if you’re in the area, I imagine this place will be better than any chain restaurant, but definitely not worth going out of your way for. I will say their dinner rolls looked excellent.
I’ve driven through Hico 1000 times and have always wanted to stop and finally did! But dang, their #1 menu item is the chicken friend steak so I thought I’d see what all the hype was about, and it was overcooked and disappointing. I ordered some of their spicy French fries too just to find out that they are not in fact spicy at all, just seasoned.. My friend ordered the club sandwich which was decent, nothing special, but definitely better than the chicken fried steak that I couldn’t eat - and that was a first. I love me some CFS. The service was excellent, however. Our waitress checked in multiple times and kept our drinks full. And this place definitely has AMAZING pies. I went to a wedding a few years back in Hico that had a ton of Koffe Kup pies instead of cake and they were a hit! Don’t go here for a salad. Their salads include lettuce and tomato. That’s it.
Wife and I stopped for a quick meal. My wife enjoyed her chicken fried chicken meal but my bacon Cheeseburger was a whole different thing. Everything on the burger looked good EXCEPT the beef patty. They cooked the life out of it. Dry and stiff. The burger missed the mark. Service was great, atmosphere good. I recommend this establishment just don't order a burger. Zoom in on photo.
A quaint little place with a variety of dishes... I ordered the aged ribeye steak 🥩 and Blaze and Stella ordered the Burgers... 🍔 Curly 🍟 and FF.. Kerstie ordered the chicken 🐔 livers....long wait for food.... We did get our toddler sized salad 🥗 and homemade rolls... pretty quick though...the food was ok .... Nothing spectacular...but was worth a try...the homemade bun was a flop.... It totally fell apart... 😢 the presentation was impressive but didn't deliver...

This place was busy—-food was good. I tried pie—-did not like it but it was very popular! price was not too bad—-better than Sonic anyway!
I have been wanting to try the Koffee Kup out for years and finally had a chance. I hate to say it, but our breakfast was just okay. We were disappointed in the lack of presentation and taste. It was nothing to write home about. Service was very slow for a place that only had two other tables of people eating. Just as we were about to get up and leave, the waitress finally came to take our order.

Man look at the size difference.... what happened to big sizes pieces??? I didn't know i necessarily needed to waste my time and go inside, order, and get a piece of pie for the same price as drivethru????? Wth Koffee Kup. 😠 🤬 My pie was barely a inch thin and not even touching any sides of the box. 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Ordered the following pies: doctor's office, reese's, and peanut butter. The best one was the reese's pie. I have had better pies but these were ok. Received coffee in a cup that had lipstick stains. Service by waitress was ok but older lady at register was rude. There are cleaner, better places for pie.
Raw food, friend got burger and it came back raw even after sending it back a few times. Onion rings weren't breaded properly and were gross. Only good thing was the beef natchos and that's more you asked your mom to make you some so pretty basic. Hard pass
