Ginza Japanese Resaurant Houston Reviews
Visiting for the weekend, we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We chose this restaurant because it was across the street from H.E.B., and I'm so glad we did! From the start, our server, Anh, was super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I don't like anything spicy, and she gave recommendations along with offering to put any spicy sauces on the side. (For the record, I could totally handle the spicy mayo!) We ordered the tuna nachos cold dish, which I would definitely order again. It was a good portion size with a great sweet flavors to compliment the crunch of the wonton. We also shared the Falcon roll and I-10 roll. We asked them to skip the jalepeño in the I-10 roll, which I'm sure would have rounded out the flavor that was missing a little (my fault)! Then we ordered an assortment of nigiri. My favorite was the escolar and my partner loved the mackerel. As a lover of sweet things, my mango iced tea was delicious to sip between bites. We enjoyed our meal so much, we talked about going back the next day, but they're closed on Sundays.
Pricy, but Excellent! TL:DR Tons of excellent options; something for everyone, and no one will leave hungry. Try the appetizers for sure! Details: Ended up here after a recommendation from Houston friends. So glad we came! Service was quick and pleasant, and the food was tremendous. Sushi, fried rice, chicken, edamame... nothing we had was less than excellent. I don't think you can go wrong. If you are willing to risk a bit of spice in your life, try the Dynamo - excellent flavor combo!
My wife and I went to Ginza for our 5th anniversary and they made it a memorable one. I got Carpaccio which was some kind of raw Japanese fish with fish eggs and super tasty sweet and sour orange sauce. It was absolutely fascinating and fresh. I recommend it to whoever loves sea food. We also got fire cracker shrimps, edamame, and wild mushrooms. All three of them were super tasty but I recommend the fire cracker shrimps the most. It was fresh and tasty. The sake was also hot and tasty. Excellent service and ambiance. They renovated the restaurant. I liked their old style Japanese one, but the current more american style is also nice.
Chef Harold has the eye and taste buds to create unique, exquisite and winning flavor, texture and visual combinations. Enjoyed excellent omakase (tasting menu) to go dinner. Very friendly staff. In particular, his cold dishes and dressed nigiri pieces (i.e. no need to drown in soy sauce) are highly recommended. 🍣💯👏🏼
Went for HRW 2019 and will definitely be going back! The sushi is so fresh and the spices are just right!! My curry was most excellent and I’m a picky curry eater bc i live it so much! The staff is accommodating to whatever you ask, they are extremely friendly. There are 2 separate bar areas, the sushi bar and a drinking, fully stocked bar! It seemed like the younger crowd was hitting up the regular bar and the “older” (including me!) crowd was in the section by the sushi bar. The sake we ordered was out of this world smooth!! Very easy to drink and was perfect with our meals!! You can’t tell in the pictures but the amount of tuna on the nachos was much appreciated!! And abundance of tuna- so good! The lotus blossom drink was too sweet for my taste, but that’s my own fault, since I ordered a sweet drink. Ha! I love HRW for this reason, to be able to try so many different dishes and have them all taste so delicious- they have a new regular customer for sure! We went on a Friday and they told us that they concert one side into a karaoke bar until 2 am! So I’ll have to also go back with more friends!!!
Chef Harold is absolutely amazing! His creations are out of this world .... This is a must see and try! My favorite is the Salmon Belly! It's not on the menu yet... Soooo good!
New Owners- Excellent Lunch Specials: Sushi Special A - Chef's choice of sushi 6 sushi pieces plus a small rolls of 3 pcs. cucumber and 3 pcs. tuna. /// or a Soup Soba Thin wheat noodles and soup w/ choice of: Beef, chicken, shrimp, or vegetables (veg's' are very fresh) and a orange on the house to finish.
First time to use the chop sticks. Every meal is worth the penny. You can have small meetings and make use of the projector. Service is top notched.

Our server guided us through the menu, making us feel like valued guests. The ambiance strikes a good balance between modern elegance and casual comfort, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing evening out. The food was delicious. We started with the yellowtail sashimi, which was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and the presentation was great. My partner's miso-glazed black cod was also cooked to perfection with a savory-sweet glaze.
I love this restaurant. I like the salmon poke. I used to go once a week because i worked near by
We dine often at Ginza. It’s a treat every time. It’s always fresh, friendly and delicious. we took 3 21 year old young men tonight and dish after dish, roll after roll and so on and there was not a morsel left. we love the food and the staff. easy, casual and yummy!
Great miso ramen! I wish they’d put a little more noodles in it but the dish is divine

Food is decent. I went there the first time and maybe return again in the future. For the price point they are not far off from other higher end place. The quality of the food is okay. I am very picky when comes to Japanese food and I know what’s good and high quality. The curry dish I ordered was not all there but eatable. Salmons were good. I spent over $74 for these few dishes by myself and price is okay since the location was in the good area.
Ordered veg. Spring roll, veg. Gyoza, Crunchy Takoyaki, beef stir fried noodle, shrimp Tempura, Chicken Teriyaki and Sashimi Deluxe. Thanks to our waiter, Henry, due to our restriction diet, he was very helpful and friendly by providing guidance and suggestions to what we can eat. The food presentation was excellent, the taste was beyond our expectations, we thought we ordered more than we could eat but the foods was so delicious....we left them with clean plates😀. The prices are reasonable, the service is excellent. I do recommend this restaurant and I give it 9 of 10.
Great place to hang out with friends while having some good sushi and singing karaoke. They have good cocktails, the lychee martini was a popular drink there. Poke poke sushi roll was delicious. Definitely recommended to all.

Place is good size for the location. The prices are reasonable. Happy hour specials are good. Fish was very good and fresh. Service was very fast and friendly. Will return to try different menu items.
A nice neighbourhood restaurant, friendly. Rolls have lots of mayo, jalapeño, avocado ingredients. If you like a fusion sushi, this is the place. Five stars on service. Staffs really care about your experience, which is always nice in any kind of restaurant.
Went for HRW dinner and the food did not disappoint. Service however was a little undertrained. Seated without drink or HRW menus. Courses were being delivered before the previous course were finished and as we were sitting at a two top table, the plates were getting stacked and after the funny looks weren't registering with the server, I had to say something. Pro tip : Get the creme brule, skip the mochi ice cream.

Great service but don’t come here if you’re looking for authentic Japanese food. The rice wasn’t even the right kind of rice for a Japanese restaurant!
Ordered chicken karaage and shrimp tempura to go and was not expecting it to be this small of an order and clearly burnt. This is was $8 and I feel very cheated. The shrimp was at least decent but the batter was soggy. I wouldn't trust this place to prepare sushi or raw fish.

I hate to leave bad review. But i got poisoned there really bad yesterday. Service was very good and i think my server did very well assisting me, so no questions to her. But kitchen!? And management? Restaurant closes at 10 but they began washing floor with bleach right next to me around 9:30. I had to leave because bleach splashes were all over, I couldn’t breathe strong bleach odor. It was horrible and im sick right now all day in bed. I will never come back here.
