What Customers Say About Hải Cảng
Hai Cang is a recently remodeled Chinese restaurant known for fresh seafood and attentive service, especially from server Henry. Lobster dishes (Hong Kong style, specials) and flavorful noodles are highly recommended. Some found the food lukewarm or portions small.

Hải Cảng Houston Reviews
Great lunch specials. Their food is good and the menu is extensive. I enjoyed coming here for family outings.
Love this place especially for large family gatherings. Our favorites include the walnut mayo shrimp, dry hu tieu noodles, eggplant with garlic sauce, and Chinese BBQ fried rice. And don't sleep on the Thai tea! Unexpectedly, it's super tasty. Service is actually really good for an Asian restaurant (coming from an Asian cause sometimes other places are very... socially unaware and lack helpfulness/being nice lol). But yes, overall, highly recommend. Price point is great too for the amount of food ordered.
We went on a Thursday night and got the lobster special (2 lobsters for $36), razor clams ($26) and eggplant ($15). All of the portions were huge! The food came out very quickly (there were only two tables) and the waitstaff were very attentive. The lobsters were a steal at this price. Would recommend for large family meals as the portions are large and meant to be eaten family style.
We met a nice couple from Houston on our flight that highly recommend Hai Cang when we mentioned our foodie adventures in NYC’s Chinatown. We’ll be back - OMG - so good. We placed our order and when someone at the table behind us returned to their party, we turned around and saw the lobster on their table - whoa - they ordered off menu! We quickly changed our order and OMG OMG OMG the lobster in tamarind sauce was so so so good! Like lick the shell good and super fresh! Incredibly reasonable price wise too. We have heard that the lunch special is amazing, buy three and get one free. So, yeah, we’ll be trying that soon. And, this is a BYOB and high end wine or Chinese snow beer is completely appropriate! Our order: crab and asparagus soup, tamarind lobster (off menu), salt and pepper soft shell crab and crispy egg noodles with shrimp (menu modification) omg so delicious! Topping off the dinner - Hai Cang served fresh tapioca pudding, warm. Delicious! We’ll be back - soon :) very soon!
This place is great for family style dining. It is spacious and can support a large group dining with barely any to no wait. The food is delicious. I've been here many times and food always good. Good thing about family style dining is you can try a variety of food and share with group. Their lobster and dungeness crabs can be prepared in several styles. I like salt and pepper but my mom likes tamarind. Did not order them this time but the dishes ordered were really good and tasty.
The place seems newly decorated. Looks very nice. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was served fast and hot. We had salt and pepper tofu, seafood fried rice, sauteed snow peas leaves, sweet and sour chicken and tamarind dungeness crab. Everything was seasoned perfectly and totally delicious.
They just remodeled the restaurant. Looking neat. Food is good with an attentive server named Henry. He recommended a lot of great dishes and veggies to pair with food. We ordered Hongkong style lobster, very fresh taste with tons of meat. Sea cucummber pair with sauteed snow peas and fish salted fried rice. A must try restaurant if you’re around.
We had an impromptu trip to Houston and hadn’t seen our good friends, Judy and Danny, in a few years so we planned to meet up for dinner yesterday. They recommended the recently remodeled @haicangseafood_htx. Majority of us had Chrysanthemum Tea with dinner. We had shared the Combination Noodle, Salt & Pepper Pork Ribs, Chef’s Special Tofu, Snow Pea Leaves, and Steamed Tilapia. Ah, we miss the great Chinese food in HTown! Fresh live fish is such a treat! It was great catching up too. The company was perfect! We definitely left very full and Judy and Danny had some leftovers to take home.
This is my first time here. There was enough good things here for me to come back. 1. Hot and sour soup was quite good. It’s a different recipe but I enjoyed it. 2. Fried pig intestines wasn’t bad and tasted better with the sauce. But this dish was more for my mom than me. 3. Lobster was tasty and had good flavors. 4. Ong choy was spot on. 5. Peking Duck was disappointing. If prepared properly it would be thin slices that fit the Bao and makes it easy to eat. Instead the meat was cut into thick slices. The also gave us the carcass, which is typically used as a base for soup or the carcass meat is stripped and stir fried with bean sprouts. I don’t feel like this was prepared properly. 6. Sweet and sour pork was good. 7. Fried tofu with broccoli was good as well. Overall there were enough good things here to come back. I just won’t order the Peking duck again.
We are Cantonese from Austin and we have a good family dinner here. We ordered two lobsters in two flavors, one is fried lobster with ginger & scallions, the other is fried with XO sauce. Both are delicious! We have the Chef Special Chicken too. It’s really authentic and it was executed well. The chef and high skills and great experience. We hasn’t have the level of authentic Cantonese dishes for a while.
The food is awesome but some of the staff is not friendly to outsiders. If you know you know. Another waiter had to step in because he witnessed how rude his coworker was being. We enjoyed our meal but I don't think I will return.
The food was very delicious. But my only complaint was the service from one man. He was rushing us to hurry up and order. And he was writing anything on the menu for us to have which we didn’t want. Then refused to give us white rice and we had to ask a different waiter. The other staff were very nice and polite. But that man was not which made me and my husband want to leave the restaurant entirely before we got our food.
