Vieng Thai Houston Reviews
It's always a sure thing, the food is delicious and well-prepared. The ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and the price is right.
Taste of home. One of the best authentic Thai cooking in town. I will be back for more!
I typically order to go. I get the shrimp fried rice and green chicken curry. It’s a lot of food. I typically have leftovers for the next day. Food taste amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant seems nice. everything is well kept and clean just from a visual standpoint. I will continue to get my food from here
Delicious as always. The only sad thing is they don't have papaya salad 😕 Otherwise this is one of my favorite spots for Thai food in Houston.
The BEST Authentic Thai Food in Houston! I am Thai and have lived here for 26 years. I’ve eaten at Vieng Thai from the old time it first opened probably around 2025, 2 decades ago, until today. The taste still is the same! Tom is also Terrific singer! We have enjoyed his songs and his performances every Saturday. Ple, the waitress, is also very kind, attentive, and professional. We give our highest recommendation for anyone who seeks authentic Thai food in Houston!! Recommendation: Kia Gai noodle, Pad Thai, Beef Nam Tok, omelette, Beef boat noodle!
I crave the food from here daily. It’s a blessing to my bank account that they don’t use delivery services! So… It’s a semi whole in the wall place & when you walk in, it has a nostalgic charm/feel. Every time I’ve been, there’s always diners who you can tell are regulars. It’s BYOB & some weekend nights they have a guitarist. Now the food~ I’m picky with Asian cuisine & this place hits all the marks. The noodle dishes are never overcooked or lack “sauciness” & the curry/soup dishes are thin with an abundance of flavor! Skip the appetizers cuz you’ll want to order all the entrees & from what I’ve discovered, the vegetarian options are the best! The veggies just soak up all the flavor & spices. Must try’s~ Red Curry w/ Tofu & the Drunken Noodles w/veggies.
This was a very unassuming hole in the wall that ended up being legit Thai food. Weekday lunch service was super fast with very authentic flavors. We had the green curry and pad see ew. Fair warning the green curry was very spicy but delicious, almost a tad too spicy for my tastes. This made for a great business lunch as we were able to get our food and bill within 15 minutes of being seated. Don't be intimidated by the facade, it's a hidden gem!
This is my second visit and I wonder why I don’t come here more often! It’s a delightful place that will surprise you considering the location. Excellent food for a good price and the food comes quick! If you like legit Thai food this is worth the trip to spring branch. You won’t regret it!
I was super surprised when I realized there was a Thai restaurant here, it is hidden in a small strip so I didn't know. The place is so spacious and has a lot of upgrades, it could use some more upgrades but it's a little quaint restaurants. Our appetizers came out super fast and they were delicious, had so much flavors! The entrees came out almost right behind them and they were so yummy! The serve good portions on their plates. I definitely recommend this spot!
Good Food and a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The servers are friendly and seat you and your party in quick fashion at a table of your choosing. Expect your beverages to be brought out quickly. Review the full menu and select your desired thai dish and have it seasoned to your selected level of spiciness. Go vegan or pick your meat for your dish from chicken to shrimp or beef. The prices are very reasonable, about $10 a person for a full serving. They are open from 11 to 9, so expect to be able to eat when you are hungry. Thanks Vieng Thai! :)
Outstanding food and service. The menu is varied 3 kinds of curry vegan and standard choices.and has favourites as, well as options to explore the service is prompt and friendly your drink stays full never out of rice. In a strip centre on Long.Point. Not.posh, but spotless. Reasonably priced. Ample parking recently returned to this family-owned restaurant that I hadn't visited in a while. My friend loves the Pad Thai, and I was pleasantly surprised to find many vegan options on the menu. The food is outstanding, the service is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. It's located in a strip centre with ample parking.
Extremely consistent Thai food with some great flavor. I have tried various dishes and all of them have been great. Their soups are excellent and the pad Thai is always a favorite. Chicken Larb is a lighter classic and you can never go wrong with any of the curries. Make sure you tell them how hot you want it. They will not make it spicy if you don’t tell them to.
Pad Kee Mao was delicious and had large yummy shrimps! The basil fried rice had great basil flavor but was very clumpy. Tasted almost like it had too much water and was cooked like a paella rather than stir fried. Unfortunately no desserts available and they were out of mango salad. The mango salad must have been popular!
I started coming here in 2007. Veng Thai offers authentic Thai cuisine with bold colors, flavors & spices, with just the right amount of spicyness & heat. They don't offer desserts nor do they have a large selection of beverages but rather a few choices of canned sodas. Also, the hostess & waitresses aren't very friendly but they make up for this with good food. The place is quaint, with a cozy atmosphere. The overall temperature in the restaurant was a little warm for my personal preference. The meal sizes are somewhat disproportionate to their prices (Smaller size portions for the amount of money they charge in comparison to other Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai/Etc restaurants) We ordered the seafood soup & green chicken curry. The curry was excellent!
Would give it 2 stars but will not be fair since this was the first visit. Parking can be limited during luch and dinner time. The restaurant is spacious, clean. The staff were typical asian restuarant - practical, abrupt, but helpful. I ordered the boat noodle and Nur Nam Tok. The taste was OK for typical clients, I am sure. Authenticity was absent in the dishes. The boat noodle had no meat balls. The vegetables were anemic. The beef used was low grade. Nur Nam Tok had almost as much juice/liquid in there as a noodle dish (ok, exaggerated a little, but the liquid was half the way covering the meat.) If you are looking for a quick bite, inexpensive, and edible Thai food, this place should be ok. My quest to eat at every Thai restaurant in Texas continues. "A true path to happiness is through eating. Unlike your off spring, It will not disappoint."
Average Thai restaurant. Food tasted good. But the service was disappointing. The waitress was not so co-operative to explain the dish. She was super annoyed with the questions while taking the order. Don’t know why. Location and ambience was little iffy. I ordered Pad See Ewe. Some stir fired flat noodles with pork. Didn’t taste like authentic Thai dish but tasted good.
