Mizu Sushi Hyde Park Reviews
Great place and service. Prices of lunch are amazing!!!
I stopped in because I happen to come across this restaurant on Google. I was greeted at the door and sat immediately. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. I am 3 months pregnant (the sushi cravings are out of control) and I explained to the waitress I needed cooked sushi only. She was so nice enough to show me everything I could eat. The itch was definitely scratched for sushi and I most definitely will be returning for future cravings!!
We love stopping for lunch often!! Very reasonable prices, service is fantastic and the food is to die for! We are snowbirds and before we depart and when we return our first stop is Mizu!!!
The sushi here is incredible. I had the sushi deluxe (two peices each of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, mackerel, and white tuna) and it made me remember how good sushi can be when prepared properly. Each fish was fresh and had a distinct texture and flavor. The fish portions were generous and served at room temperature (which is a good thing!). My only gripe is that it costs extra to get both the miso soup and the salad; most places include both.
My new favorite spot for sushi. They have lots of creative roles plus their curries are amazing.
We just moved back from Asia to Hyde Park and were delighted to find that Mizu offers really good sashimi and sushi rolls. Sashimi was fresh and tender and they gave us a big glass of Dassai Blue sake from the Dassai distillery down the road. Hyde Park is looking up!
Was looking for something to eat in the area and stumbled upon this place. Absolutely fantastic sushi! Hard to find a really good sushi place, but this was truly a surprise. And the prices were reasonable unlike all the over-priced places you see nowadays. Highly recommend it. I will be returning if I'm in the area again.
I’ve been going to mizu since they opened and I am never disappointed. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and in fact I think they are the BEST sushi in the area. Their Godzilla Roll and Steak Hibachi are my favs! Delicious and tasty every time!
Nice quality sushi and sashimi. Creative rolls and appetizers. There's something for everyone (who likes Asian cuisine). The menu has some Thai dishes, bento meals, and some great sushi rolls. The lunch specials are very well done. Great spot for lunch after the Roosevelt Home tour.
What a lovely place. Excellent food. Excellent service. Such a kind staff. I drank an Asian Sangria to start, which was excellent. The gyoza followed by Maki combo C (spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellow tail all with crunch), and a Godzilla roll. Topped off the evening with fried ice cream. I really look forward to coming back.
Absolutely fantastic. I’ve eaten here numerous times and the staff is always incredibly friendly and the food is always fantastic. The staff members remember faces as well as food allergies. A great place to go if you have food allergies or are looking for fantastic sushi. By far the best sushi place in Hyde Park.
Mizu Sushi was just okay overall. Nothing terrible, but nothing that really stood out either. The food was decent and fresh enough, but it didn’t wow me or feel memorable compared to other sushi spots in the area. Some rolls were better than others, but overall the flavors were pretty average and didn’t justify going out of my way to come back again. Service was fine but not particularly attentive. There were moments where we waited longer than expected, and it felt a bit disconnected at times. Not rude by any means—just not the kind of service that makes the experience feel smooth or welcoming. The atmosphere was also average. Clean enough, but it lacked any real character or warmth that makes you want to sit and enjoy your meal. It felt more like a quick stop than a place you’d choose for a relaxed dinner. If you’re nearby and craving sushi, it’ll do the job. But with so many good options around, this place lands squarely in the middle—not bad, just okay.
Really fresh food and at a good price. It's hard to get this quality these days. I went twice and haven't been disappointed yet! I recommend it. The pancakes were very nice.
Very quaint sushi 🍣 spot The server's were very nice. The portion size were large. The food came out very fast. The food tasted well. The atmosphere was nice music was tranquil. Ample parking. There was food left over to go Had the tempura soft shell crab and miso soup and black jack speciality roll. Seems like super popular local spot. We saw people coming in for to go orders. Also after 5pm the restaurant was full of people of all ages young and older families and single ones
My experience Mizu Sushi was great. The chicken gyoza was delicious, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. We ordered 3 sushi rolls. The highlight of the meal was the chocolate pyramid for dessert, which was absolutely divine. The staff at Mizu Sushi were extremely warm and sweet, making me feel genuinely welcomed. On top of all this, the prices were super affordable, making it an excellent value for the quality. Highly recommend Mizu Sushi for a fantastic dining experience!
food was ready at least 5 minutes early which was a very nice surprise. staff was kind and friendly. miso and clear soups were very good. we ordered a bunch of sushi rolls and 2 were good but the rest not so much. my young kids love sushi and they didn't like these. the restaurant has a strong chemical/cleaning smell and the taste was in the sushi and lingered in my mouth for an hour.
I can't recommend this place. You receive small portions for exorbitant prices. No reason to go here when there are so many other Asian restaurants around that give you much more food for a reasonable cost.
Mizu used to be our go-to, but their food has been going downhill steadily. Today's take-out order was an all-time low. These rolls are the most pathetic rolls I've ever seen. Have you ever seen such tiny pieces of fish in a sushi roll??? And the quality of the rolls is so bad - when I attempt to make sushi at home, like, twice a year, my rolls come out better than this. I don't think they take much pride in their work anymore. The fish tastes okay but the ikura (salmon roe) sushi (which is also on the paltry side) tasted metallic on the first bite - the rest got thrown away. This was a take-out order and i hate to think it, but I wonder if they use the worst pieces on the take-out orders because they know that customers won't see it until they get home, and most people won't make the trip back to the restaurant to do anything about it. It's a sad commentary on their values if that is the case. This will be our last time ordering from them. It's really a shame because they are the only sushi restaurant on grub hub that delivers to my house. We would have continued to be regular customers if they had just put in a bit of effort. I think the photos speak for themselves.
