Nice quiet place, great spot for lunch. Got a fried chicken bento box, which came out quickly and the chicken crispy and flavorful. The portion was a solid amount, and the service was great.

We actually ordered 3 times online, before coming here. And we missed out, because they have such a great atmosphere and great food. Our favorite are their baked rolls!

Really good salmon sashimi. I love the pickled wasabi they give with it. Got the Ocean Breeze Roll and Mount Fuji Roll. Ocean breeze was really good but a little small for rolls. Mount Fuji roll was excellent, rich and creamy.

We did the all you can eat, you can get any sushi roll on the menu with that deal!! Not many places offer that!! We went on a Monday night it was perfect time not too busy inside! DK was a great server.

A nice and new relaxing sushi restaurant. The interior was very welcoming and comfortable. A good amount of different sushi options which both the classic spicy salmon roll and lover roll were very tasty. Was also thankful that they had multiple beer options.

Great place for a family meal (under 12 kids price AYCE). Fresh fish, attentive staff (even though they are busy), and a wide selection of rolls, sashimi, and tasty appetizers like takoyaki and cucumber salad. Would come again, especially for the sashimi.

I went there for lunch. it was a great experience. the food price I have to say it is pretty reasonable. Maybe it is because near UCI. so, they try to attract more student to eat over there. I ordered some rolls and Sashimi. it was pretty good. the rolls I love the best is the lover roll, and the volcano baked roll and the spicy California roll. Sashimi has big pieces. I order 3 pieces salmon and tuna. they are thick pieces. I love it. my husband ordered their fry Chicken. it was spicy and crispy and inside is juicy. the inside looks pretty nice. they decorate very cute. i took some pictures to post on my social media. looks pretty nice. The service was great. especially the speed that they serve the food. I went there around 3pm. they brought my food pretty much within 10 mins. which is pretty amazing. Overall. I would eat there again.

Botan Sushi is a hidden gem in Irvine. Super fresh fish, hot Bento Box, and All You Can Eat is very good price. The favor was insanely good! Great service and very nice atmoshere. Definitely will be back for sure.

Came here for Valentine’s Day yesterday and the service was great. We did the all-you-can-eat deal which is a great value at about $40. The sushi was phenomenal and the atmosphere is so cute. I also booked a mariachi band as a surprise for my girlfriend, and they came out and performed just outside the restaurant. The servers and owners were so sweet and supportive about it, sharing kind words, taking videos, even bringing up complimentary drinks to us afterwards. I will definitely be coming back!

Had a great meal! I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the braised beef bento. The ramen broth was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the noodles had a nice texture. Highly recommend the Volcano Baked Roll! Generously topped, with a warm, crispy layer on top—amazing texture and flavor! Also loved the cucumber roll without rice—it was super refreshing and light, perfect for a clean palate. They also offer bento boxes, which are perfect for solo diners. Options include fried chicken, pork cutlet, salmon, or beef, paired with rice, California roll, and vegetables. A balanced and satisfying choice for a solo meal.

I ordered two dishes which are Alaska roll and sashimi salad. When I asked two meals, the clerk told me that sashimi salad would be with spicy sauce and asked whether I am going to be ok. Based on what I heard I assumed that it may be too much spicy. I asked how spicy it is, she told me that it will be medium spicy. So I ordered it anyway since I did not mind it spicy too. But when it came out, she told me the source is not actually spicy at all. That was my first experience. The moment when she came to me asking if there is anything I need, I asked more gingers. When she came back with gingers, I noticed too much gingers shown on the picture. Food was ok, but as a worker, she should have been well known about the food she serves instead of making people worried about how spicy the meal would be. Secondly, there is expectation how much sides will be needed based on how much remaining food was left. But she brought too much food making me offended and sorry for remaining food wasted. Those are main two feelings when you faced these situations, worried and sorry. These should be avoided when you come to enjoy lunch.

Two other parties there, server never approached us after we were seated and when we finally managed to wave her down to order the server said “sorry it’s really busy”..? My cup had a lipstick stain on it and when I asked the server for another one she took it to the back counter, wiped it off with a dry napkin, and put it back down in front of me. Seaweed salad way too sweet, but salmon roll was fine. Cute place but service lacking.

Very bad sushi. Barely any fish in the rolls and way too much rice. The fish was also tasteless and tasted like water. The Takoyaki was not fully cooked and tasted like raw batter on the inside. Left a very bad taste in my mouth after.

The sushi rolls were poorly made — they fell apart easily and didn’t taste fresh. What’s worse, the rolls looked nothing like the pictures on the menu, which felt misleading. I expected better quality and attention to detail for the price. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning unless the presentation and consistency improve.

Tiny rolls for the price. Barely any ingredients inside each roll. We ordered "tuna roll" so we hoped for a normal roll but what we picked was a tuna MAKI which only had tuna as the filling. That's usually expected of a maki but there was no indication online that the Tuna ROLL we ordered was maki sushi. The rolls in general had very little flavor. Also note that maps says its $10-20 per person but its more like $35 theres no way someone would fill full with just 1 tiny roll of sushi. We ordered 3 rolls for $30 but we are still hungry.

The staff seemed confused, uninterested, and completely overwhelmed by even the simplest requests. Waiting for basic things felt endless, and when the food finally showed up, parts of the order were missing. The attitude from the staff made it clear they didn’t care in the slightest. On top of that, the restaurant itself looked neglected. Tables weren’t clean, the atmosphere felt chaotic, and the place overall gave off a sense that no one is actually paying attention to quality or cleanliness. I walked out frustrated and honestly angry that I wasted money here. This place fails at every level — food, service, environment. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid it. There are plenty of restaurants that respect their customers; this one clearly doesn’t.

The sushi was not fresh by any means and had a strange, off taste. The edamame wasn’t cooked properly, and one of our poke bowls was missing the spicy mayo that was supposed to be on top. On top of that, the eel in that same poke bowl was not warm at all. The miso soup was extremely watered down and lacked any real flavor. Overall, poor quality control and not a place I would return to or recommend.

A few hours after eating their biohazard special, I was in the bathroom fighting for my life. I’m talking chills, cramps, nausea — the whole horror movie. But oh, it gets better. When I tried to tell the staff something was wrong with the food, they literally laughed. LAUGHED. Like it was funny that their nasty sushi almost sent me to the ER. They acted like I was joking, like I was overreacting, like I was “being dramatic.” Then they had the nerve — THE AUDACITY — to charge me full price. No apology. No refund. Not even basic human decency. Just a smirk and a bill like they hadn’t just ruined my entire night and my stomach. I swear, it felt like they were proud of scamming me. Like it was part of the experience. This place is a whole circus of incompetence and disrespect. Filthy tables, rude staff, garbage food, and the worst customer service I’ve ever seen in my life. I left angry, sick, and genuinely wondering how this place hasn’t been shut down yet. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to ANYONE. Not even to people I don’t like. It’s THAT bad.
