Dos Amigos Ithaca Reviews
Dos Amigos is one of my favorite spots in Ithaca. The food is always fresh and full of flavor, the portions are great, and the staff is super friendly. It’s a perfect place for a quick bite or a casual meal with friends. Highly recommend!
The best burritos in Ithaca by far. Love the fries added in. Check out Tres Leches downstairs for really classy drinks as well!
One of the prize gems of both collegetown and Ithaca as a whole! Always leave with food to take home, always leave stoked and satisfied :)
Chef was very kind to us on our visit Offered to tell us more about the menu Suggested the corn tortillas which were delicious
The of the few places our family regularly orders from, the food is fresh and you can tell made with care. There is also a great little speakeasy in the basement which has great drink and an immaculate vibe.
Hands down my favorite spot in Ithaca with the best California style burritos. Quality food that’s quick. My favorite is the “Ginuswine”. I also love Tres Leches the bar downstairs - great atmosphere and even better handcrafted cocktails. Always a great spot to go with friends.
MEGA BURRITO! So awesome. The fries are a game changer, although mine were a little salty in spots (hence the 4/5 stars), over all it was a great addition. Pricing is a little high IMO, especially when using delivery, but the amount of food received was impressive and lasted two meals for me! Look forward to trying other items on the menu. I didn't get a picture cause I started digging in immediately, but believe me when I tell you the burrito is huge, like a baby. Best size comparison I could make would be to holding a 40oz beer.
Dos Amigos does not disappoint. I was visiting Ithaca from Rochester and stopped at Dos Amigos. Since I had never been there, I wasn't sure what to order, but the owner was super friendly and suggested the tacos-- each with a different choice of meat so I could have a taste of everything. I am so glad that I trusted him because the tacos were AMAZING. My favorite taco was the carnitas (still thinking about it). I learned from the owner that their spicy, green sauce is freshly-made. I love hearing when a place puts in that extra effort for their customers. It just makes the food taste even better. I highly recommend Dos Amigos and I highly recommend getting the tacos. I will definitely be returning in the future.
Honestly the best Mexican food I have ever had. I would drive hours out of my way to stop here. There is not an item on the menu that I wouldn't like to have. From the California Style Burritos, to the real authentic tacos, it all is top quality and delicious. I recommend anyone in the area stop by and try this place.
Amazing burritos, but a little small for the price. I unfortunately didn't get to stay in shop to eat, but the setup was quite nice. The burritos we ordered both came in quick time , and the chef did an amazing job wrapping and packing them too. They didn't have much vegetables, other than onion which was VERY overpowering yet still quite good. It mostly consisted of beans rice and chicken. There were two sauces and the creamier one was very VERY good. This place is really nice for anyone who has a craving for Mexican food since there's not many other places like it in Ithaca, but just be prepared to spend a bit of money. The food is VERY filling and super tasty so it's definitely worth it for those who really like a good burrito.
Gave this place a shot and was hoping for great things since it's owned by two Hotelie's. Was disappointed when I got my large luncheon order...given less steak burrito bowls and more chicken bowls that I ordered....steak is more expensive than chicken and there was no correction to the charges. I won't use them for luncheons again.
Good food, but very expensive and noticeably stingy on the meat. They pad their food out using cheaper ingredients like the fries/rice. Also charges $3.50 for guacamole, which is frankly insane when a burrito is already coming in at $17-20. The staff are nice and readily make amendments if you decide to change something after ordering. The interior is small and loud, so not a place I'd recommend eating inside. TL;DR: The egregious prices and stingy ingredients make it feel like you're being extorted. If you can overlook that, you'll find a decent meal.
It was just okay. I ordered the steak burrito, with fries in it. The fries were really dark and greasy, and all I could really taste in the burrito was oily fry and sharp cheddar. The burrito was really big, so that was good, but it was also expensive. I ordered the one burrito, and a side of guac and my order was almost $30. The guacamole was bland, tasted like smashed avocado and lime and not much else. It was really fresh tasting though! I did REALLY enjoy the sauces. The medium sauce was so creamy and flavourful, and the hot sauce was the same, but also smoky which was great. I didn't like the mild salsa. Not the restaurants fault, but a heads up, parking was atrocious.
I got a ribeye steak street tacos. Pretty disappointed the food was extremely bland. Being that this is a Mexican restaurant and Mexicans are known to cook with flavor this owner Jorge seems he doesn’t know Mexican cooking seasoning steak with just salt hoping the sauce will cover it. It also has onions and cilantro. Cilantro being a very strong herb you can’t even taste that. Horrible. If you want good street tacos that actually has flavor in every bite go see the guy on green st in the little plaza next to diamonds Indian food.
Expensive sub-par Mexican food. The prices are ridiculous given the portion size, and the quality does not make up for it. The places survives because there is no competitor in the area.
Decent burritos for Ithaca but very inconsistent. On three separate orders over the last year they have either a) forgotten the fries in the burrito, b) forgotten the meat entirely, or c) mixed beef and chicken in what’s was supposed to be just a chicken burrito. This was very upsetting since I don’t eat beef out of cultural reasons. I wouldn’t recommend unfortunately. Also $25 (with tip) for a burrito is insane. Especially when made incorrectly.
Ordered three tacos and the meat was burnt and poor quality. One taco had some onions and cilantro, one was loaded, and one had none. Smallest tacos I've ever seen and with tip, more than $20 for three little tacos!! Expensive, small portions, and substandard food.
The prices are outrageous and do not match the quality or the quantity. Will never dine her again. Save your money people
Staff should receive training on how to treat customers respectfully and uphold customer rights. I experienced very rude and disrespectful behavior from a place that tries to make its living selling traditional food from a culture known for respect and hospitality. Their attitude does not reflect those values at all.
Overpriced and unoriginal. Charging $12+ for a single ingredient quesadilla was a bit much, but now they've completely lost it after reducing their tortilla size. It feels like they are price gauging all in the name of "supporting a local business"
I ordered four burritos and specifically asked for one with jalapeños. They labeled it as if it had them, but there were none inside. The other burritos were also completely wrong and nothing like what I requested. On top of that, the taste was awful and even made me feel sick afterward. I would never spend a penny here again. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. The whole family got sick!
The whitest Mexican food I've ever had. Inside the restaurant was minimal seating and no atmosphere. The prices were very expensive for what you get. Tacos are very small and weak. THEY DO NOT TAKE CASH. Wait wasn't awful (10 minutes) but one of the three items I ordered was entirely forgotten. Would not dine again.
