Ithaca Ale House Ithaca Reviews
Looking for a burger and I found a good one at Ithaca Ale House. Started with the onion soup. I give it high marks overall. Tasty if not a little bit salty broth. I finished the entire bowl which says something. Nice addition of crispy fried onions on the top. The burger was also good. They say it is award winning. Maybe.....but it certainly did the trick that day.
Our family stopped here on our way into Ithaca for Valentine's Day weekend. Definitely recommend the skillet chicken wings and the prime rib sub!
Yummy! Hot food on a cold day, with a nice glass of wine. Check this place out. Relaxed atmosphere, great service (thank you Savannah) and delicious bites. The French Onion soup was nuclear hot, smothered with cheese and crunchy fried onions. The fish fry had a super crispy beer batter, but still moist and flaky inside. (Get the chipotle tarter with it) The "sidewinder" fries were a pleasant surprise. The Ruben was so savory, and came with some tasty straight cut fries. We had the crab cakes too, so good! They came with some slaw and a perky apple chutney. Check out the Ithaca Ale house today.
We came off a long drive and this place was across the street from our hotel. Ate at the bar. Beer selection was great. I had a salad and hubbs had pizza. Both entres were delicious and reasonably priced. The place was hopping, and even with the crowd, the bartender gave us friendly and efficient service. We would definitely go back. Sorry - no pics.
Visited Ithaca Ale House and loved it. My husband had the Honey Garlic Glazed Salmon, and I had the Ancho Citrus Gluten Free Salad, and my daughter had the grilled cheese and everything was delicious! We all ate every bite - the food was so satisfying. The host and our server were also very nice and attentive!
First time visiting. Oh my the food!!! It was a hard decision to make but I chose a burger and what a great choice - juicy, flavorful and cooked and put together as I ordered!! The French fries are the BEST I have EVER had!! We also ordered boneless wings with garbage sauce and omg soooo good and large portion. The cook did a fabulous job. My daughter ordered a Cesar salad and it was huge and she said very good along with a large pub pretzel and of course that was good too. I will definitely be returning!! Megan our waitress was awesome. Very attentive and pleasant. 😊 It was a great lunch spent with my daughter. The atmosphere is very clean, quiet and so much space. This is DEFINITELY A PLACE TO GO TO AGAIN AND AGAIN.
One of the best burgers in town. Also one of the best French fries in town which isnt important to many people but I love when a place makes even side items great. Menu looks awesome and has many options for many diets. Service was attentive and very friendly. Would come back again. The only critique I have is that they keep the lights WAY too dim in the place at night. I mean I understand dim mood lighting but there's a difference between dim and dark. They keep things pretty dark. Felt like I was eating in a place with the lights out. But not going to dock points for that as some people might like feeling like they are eating dinner inside the bat cave
Great value for the money. Good portions Fresh and tasty Good presentation Very clean Knowledgable and patient servers Comfortable seating Bathrooms are clean Great beer selection at reasonable prices and tall pours Food is delicious and onion rings crisp and tasty though I think they should be thicker cut as it does not provide enough of the onion and onion flavour due to the batter to onion ratio Burger bun to burger meat ratio perfect. Meat cook, texture, seasoning, and freshness was A1 All in all a surprisingly solid dining experience and will certainly patron whenever possible.
Standard looking pub type restaurant with a good beer and drink menu. Food menu has the typical items (burgers, wings, salads, etc...). I had the boneless wings with the ale house sauce and my wife got crab cakes and onion rings. They both were much better than what you find at other places. Ale House sauce was just spicy enough and had great flavor. The crab cakes were the real deal and not crab with breading and filler. Service was good and very friendly.
Hunger set in with the 1 h wait, but when checking in the hostess sat us as soon as she could. All in all the service was very friendly but a bit slow given how busy they were (on a Sunday night!) The food was really good. The menu looks basic but everything was well made. I had the French Dip and the taste and textures were perfect. My daughter had the Perfect burger, and I was really impressed with the cook - medium, juicy, pink, but nothing leaking out on the plate. Sometimes you have to appreciate the basics. The draught list was good, but due to the slowish service I only enjoyed one pint. It was good! I'd come back, good experience.
A great meal and dining experience - thanks to our server for going out of his way to serve us outside and to the hostess for going out of her way to accommodate us!

Magnolia was our server and she did a great job throughout the meal. The drinks were strong and the meals were cooked to perfection and were good portions. We definitely left full and satisfied!

The food was great! Large portions, reasonable prices, very good service even though they were busy. We walked there from our hotel, so I can’t speak to the parking situation.

Food was amazing- Burgers were juicy with lots of flavor- The waitress was no very friendly… Could barely hear her, she was very short with us.. She clearly did not like her job nor want to be there.. Other than the service, the food was great, loved the atmosphere!!
We decided to check out the Ithaca ale house because of a TikTok that I saw regarding the skillet wings. The flavor of the skillet wings were so good however, I wish there was a little more topping on them for paying two dollars extra to make them skillet and the beer, cheese was really good, but the pretzel was average. It wasn’t really busy inside, so our waitress gave us a lot of attention and she was very sweet. I can’t remember her name, but she did a great job. The host seemed a bit flustered, but it could just have been an off day for him. I would definitely go back and get the wings again if I would visit Ithaca. The atmosphere was just your basic bar, but they did have a lot of seating.
Dropped into Ale House with high expectations after a recommendation from an Ithacan. The lady at the reception was engaged in a long conversation with a young man and didn’t notice me standing there. When she finally took me to a table, she showed no courtesy or hospitality, which was disappointing. However, the young lady who served me was polite and attentive, and she ensured my food arrived promptly. Although they claim to have an award-winning burger, I didn’t find anything particularly unique about it. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the restaurant.
The Ale House has been a favorite place of mine for a long time. The new location offers more room indoors and outdoors. The food is always bangin’, I’ve never had a bad meal here. The French Onion soup and the Buffalo Eggs Rolls are the best appetizers on their menu. Their lunch/dinner entrees are all spectacular, can’t go wrong with a salad, burger or one the pizzas. Finally their Mrs. O’Leary’s cookies are the best things on earth! Served with a glass of milk, these cookies are a meal themselves but so delicious. The reason I marked this one star short, was this place is a little pricey.

Great food, especially the salad which was pretty seasonal! I had a great time and will definitely return to eat here again! The waitress wasn't the nicest but we all have those days.

Food was good…beer was delish….my family and I had bacon cheeseburger, fish and chips and chicken fingers with fries..
We came here about a month ago. It is fine, there are a lot of options. The server was very nice but a little slow and messed up my wine order (brought red instead of white - I did not correct them, I like that wine too and I didn’t want to wait). The food was fine, I liked the salad, but my steak was a little cold. I will probably be back just because it’s easy but I wouldn’t add it to the must visit list.
Right in downtown Ithaca was excited to try the food and a great location. Inside is a bit interesting -very sterile feeling. Our server Anthony was nice enough. I had the Ellicottville blood orange to start. The food was ok. Here’s my issue with this restaurant they charge $5.00 for soda. I don’t even think this included refills if it did we weren’t told. I have been around the world and this is most I have ever paid for a soda. This is why our bill came to 87.48 for lunch. Also when they give you the pay with cash option you always feel like you are losing out, this is a first while dining out. Never have seen the pay with cash option at a restaurant only at gas stations. Would I return to this restaurant, no. We all know that soda costs pennies to sell. Overpriced lunch two thumbs down

Mehh. Food was okay, but not much more than that. Certainly not special in any way, but also not cheap. I don’t like giving them my credit card number to make a reservation, I get that people sometimes don’t show (rude) but people also sometimes have problems (often unavoidable) so the threat to charge me $20 a head for no-shows kinda rubs wrong, maybe don’t take reservations if you don’t like the downside? Also got grumpily told I couldn’t get a table without a reservation last time I tried to go there. Huh… Atmosphere was okay, whatever. Too many TV’s showing too many sports in my opinion, diminishes the place a bit. Are you a restaurant or are you a sports bar? Service was fine. The 5% credit card surcharge rubs kinda wrong, their rent must be super high to be so chintzy. Seems like a place I’ve gone to once but feel no need to ever go back a second time, you know?
So far, super disappointing. I hate giving this place less than good review, but- I thought I was treated poorly by the employees . Went to see a show at state theater. We were initially put in the aisle where everyone walks by, and servers, too.. I declined to be seated there. Seating lady said that they were saving seats because band was going to be there...Hours from now there might be a band? Also others get the booths? We were there at 4:30, having made reservations and- No one here... No way for this place to disrespect a customer. We ended up in a back room being used for storage of some bags of stuff. With small flies circling around us , landing on our food while we ate. Food was good. But see pics. Classic burger, pink inside. Like it that way. Fries good. Server did come by to ask if we liked food, we acknowledged it was good. Fish chips were good, but the skin was left on fish. Didn't like that. Potato served with fish was good. Chipotle tartar was too spicy, did not have regular tartar? Any way showed waiter a fly on plate. No reaction. No discount. Not interested in going again.
It's 1 AM and I'm puking my brains out after eating the salmon. They don't even have a general mailbox on the phone line to leave them some feedback to spare other guests so I'm leaving a review here.

Went to Ithaca ale house for a Saturday night dinner. Had reservations for me, my husband, and my 11 month old son. Upon arrival, the hostess asked if a booth was okay and I said “as long as you have an appropriate booster seat” and she said yes. So she leads me to a booth and hands me a booster seat with no straps. I am a new mom with very little restaurant experience so I set up the booster seat, although I felt it odd that there was no harness. I pulled the table as close to the booster seat as possible to help secure my son. Halfway through dinner, my son slips off the booster seat and slides under the table. Luckily my husband caught him so he didn’t hit his head on the table. I went up to the hostess to ask to trade in the booster seat for an actual highchair where I was met with major attitude and simply a “no!” I asked if she was serious because it seemed odd and she responded again with attitude that “it’s a liability.” I explained that my son had slid off the booster seat at the table and her response was “sorry.” I was given no solution at all (such as a new table that would accommodate a highchair) and was only met with annoyance. Food and waitress were great, but will not be returning due to the attitude of the hostess and lack of care for child safety.
The only thing I need to tell you is that they play country music and charge $15 for happy hour nachos and $10 for a (happy hour price) pretzel. LMAO. Don’t touch this place folks. Owner is very confused. And apparently, very sensitive. Awww. Pobrecito.
