The Stoned Crab Key West Reviews
No idea why this only has 3.5 stars. We had the BEST meal in Key West here. We had the stone crabs, lobster, fresh fish and we were so impressed. The service was also impeccable. We couldn’t say enough about our experience. We will be back for sure!
Great food and atmosphere! Make sure to go to the shark feeding.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful… we had coconut shrimp and fritters as an app and they were delicious. I had the cold platter and the shrimp and crab were great. I could have eaten a platter of just the shrimp, they were the best I’ve had. Two people in our party ordered the steamed platters… one the old bay and the other the fisherman, the fisherman one was ordered with garlic butter and she said it was good but needed a little bit more flavor, she asked for a little bit of old bay and she said it was great. Highly recommend here… by the way, our waitress was Bianca and she was AMAZING
I am glad that I didn’t read the reviews before I went here as I wouldn’t have had a great birthday lunch with my son. I had a wonderful experience. We ordered the 2 tier cold tower. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. We then ordered the shrimp tacos to share and they too were phenomenal! My son got crème brûlée and it wasn’t the absolute best we ever had but it was still very good . 2 alcoholic beverages $200 for lunch plus a $40 tip . I think it was very reasonable.
We loved our food! Delish! Husband had the lobster steamer and it was a ton of food, and cooked just right! He’s a big fan of stone crab so added a claw of that and he said it was perfect! I had the fettuccine lobster and shrimp marinara and was also so good! Would highly recommend and may return if we get a chance during our trip!
The food was great at The Stoned Crab. Big portions and we loved it. The only bad side was it was cold out and with no walls/doors, it was cold eating in there. And we were right under the heater, still cold though. Food great though‼️‼️
The Stoned Crab quickly became my go-to spot during my trip. I practically ate every meal here! The food is absolutely incredible, bursting with fresh flavors that keep you coming back for more. Every dish I tried was top-notch, and I couldn’t resist grabbing a slice of their legendary key lime pie to take back to my room each night for a late snack. The service was friendly and attentive, and the laid-back, coastal atmosphere made every visit feel like a true vacation experience. If you’re in the area, this is an absolute must visit. You won’t be disappointed!
I had a great experience! The service was great and very quick. The food was very good and so very fresh, the view was nice and they have nice props around the restaurant to take pictures, i will definitely be visiting again.
I am not sure why this place has a 3.5 rating. The food here is absolutely amazing. It's well seasoned cooked to perfection 👌 and the menu has plenty of options. The service was outstanding, staff worked as a team and were a pleasure to talk to. Although its outside there were no peaky flies bothering us so im not even sure how that is possible 😅. Overall great experiences both days I went because the food was so good. I had the yellow and red snapper with fries one day and yellow rice the next day and both options were very tasty!!! Speed over to this place to eat or you are absolutely missing out. Oh...that pie...YEP yes and yes go and get you some!!
Our first trip to Key West. The Stoned Crab came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. The food was outstanding. We enjoyed crab, octopus, shrimp, and chicken fetticcine. The atmosphere is beautiful. Our waitress, Medarling (Amanda) was fantastic. Prompt and professional. Her welcoming smile goes a long ways. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Key West. A+
Stopped by for lunch today. Service was outstanding! Food was delicious! We will be back. Great view, clean bathrooms. Lots of parking
Absolutely incredible food was amazing. The staff here are also amazing love sitting on the patio in the sun. Also got to feed some sharks. It was pretty cool.
We had the sweetest server. Ask for Ramona she is the best. We had the had "The Big Heat Three Level. When in Key West go. Must eats.
Everything about this place was great! The location was top notch, the waitstaff was great, and the food was AMAZING!! If you're vacationing in Key West, this place is a must.
You get to feed sharks at no extra charge while you dine! Great food and environment!
Cool spot! Cocktails were good. And the added bonus of being able to feed your leftovers to the fish... I mean, why not? I had the shrimp cocktail and calamari basket. Pass on the calamari, only two actual squid, everything also a bunch of imitation. Hard fail on that. Aside from that, everything was a win. Staff was solid and friendly, brother had a bucket of crab and shrimp and mussels and a clam or two. He was in heaven. Everyone else was pleased with their food. Nice decor, everything was clean. Would definitely go back. It's a good time, good food, good service. Oh yeah, I got some gulf oysters on the half shell as well, excellent.
We had an amazing experience at Stoned Crab in Key West! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, but what really made the visit unforgettable was our waitress, Diana. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Thank you, Diana, for your exceptional service — you truly made our evening special! Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Key West.
Food was fresh and delicious! We shared the seafood clam bake and the fried shrimp and haddock, soo good. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend this restaurant spot on the water.
We always stop here for a dinner. The service staff is always nice and accommodating. I really liked the steamer basket that came with crab legs, mussels, shrimp, stone crab claws, potatoes and corn.
Husband and I ordered the calamari, coconut shrimp, and their old bay steamer with a stone crab size upgrade. Also ordered the key lime pinocolada. Everything was great. You could tell the shrimp and crab were freshly caught and they were well prepared! Sweetest snow crab clusters I’ve ever had.
Wonderful open air seating and wonderful service! If you're not sure what you want, ask. Our server was so helpful with the menu options, and our lunch was amazing! The chillers and boils are definitely enough for 2, especially when we followed her direction and added half a lobster for $15. Beautiful birds to watch too. 😃 Key lime creme brulee was DELICIOUS!!!!
An incredible place with unique views. In the surrounding area, you can see various fish swimming freely—even feed them. There are activities to enjoy on-site, and the food is absolutely delicious. We had a variety of seafood, and everything was amazing, including the appetizers and drinks. I definitely recommend it 100%, and I’ll surely visit again on my next trip.
Best seafood. The best flavor of shrimp I have ever had. Lobster and crab cooked perfectly. Corn and potatoes were good too. Will make this a regular stop when we return. My sister and nephew got to help feed the sharks and it wasn't an extra charge just a nice added experience.
Luis was so friendly and welcoming when we came to The Stoned Crab. His drinks are amazing, we didn’t want to leave! The atmosphere was amazing and we will 100% come back !!! Also the coconut shrimp was delicious. Highly recommend!
Food was great, decent price for seafood in KeyWest! They brought everyone's meals out at separate times. We had a group of 7 people, some were done eating before others were served. Others had cold food waiting for the table.
Didn't eat here. Only drank. But great options for food if you want. The shark bite drink was fantastic. You're next to the water, open air, next to the pool. It's a great all around vibe.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere of the restaurant felt welcoming and cozy. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into the cooking, and it truly shows in the taste. What made the experience even more special was the staff. The waitresses were not only attentive but also genuinely kind and lovely. They made us feel comfortable, checked on us with perfect timing, and added such a personal touch to the evening. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to and recommending to friends and family. A wonderful combination of great food and even greater people!
Had a great experience here, food was very good. One of the folks in our party got the one inch steak and has raved about it for the last day. We had the shrimp and grits which was ok. The key lime mojitos were fun and refreshing. But you really come here for the island atmosphere.
The food here is pretty good. I had the half baked lobster and they give you a small piece of lobster so for the price it wasn't worth it. The rice and corn were both delicious so were the peel and eat shrimp. The key lime pie was good. The service was not good. It took us ten mins to get a server to acknowledge us and she forgot my friends drink. I would recommend trying the place.
They got everything to make it an unforgetable experience: Location, food and even some thrill (shark feeding) and prices. I got the xp, that the Cook could have done a lot more in the food i ordered. It was not bad, but the potential of the fish was not used. The potential of the bill was used. Maybe another time.
Another fabulous dinner spot in the Keys! The Stoned Crab is such a fun experience — good food, good service, and a great view! I had the shrimp with a fresh salad, and my husband went with the shrimp and lobster fettuccine ~ both were delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively ~ you can even feed the sharks while you wait for your food 🦈 It's a unique and memorable dining experience ~ definitely recommend! ➡️ Follow us on Socials for more detailed travel tips @Sweet_Southern_Living
Good food but service was not the best. They were out of the only thing I wanted (shrimp and grits). My 16 year old wanted a kids burger as she doesn’t eat seafood and there aren’t many other non-seafood options and they would not let her order that (even though we explained we would be glad to pay for an adult burger if they offered that). Had to hunt down our own waitress for the bill.
After going past this places many times we finally ate here last Saturday, and the food was average at best. The location and atmosphere was really nice though. Service was pretty good, but it was not very busy at this time. The calamari was the worst I've ever had in the Key's, that was a big disappointment. We will not be returning here, there's plenty of far better places in the area. Even though it was pretty dead the parking situation was terrible. Live and learn I guess.
Cute place. I got the shrimp basket. 6 shrimp. Fries. Coleslaw...18 bucks My partner got captains basket. 1 piece of snapper and 6 shrimp and fries and cole slaw for 20 bucks All food over cooked. Waitress was excellent. Table, views, atmosphere... Food honestly was disappointing. They did allow us to bring our dog. She enjoyed the snapper.
The worst rockafell oysters I've ever had very heavy with cream and covered with a thick cheese no spinach in sight. However the stone crabs were delicious and fresh. The grouper bites were unimpressive but meaty.
Was going to go Outback. Seen this place and stopped because not a brand name place. Seated right away. The waitress didn't come up right away for drinks. Took drink and appetizer order. The appetizer came quickly, no forks or napkins on the table. Had to ask another waiter for these. Main food came, asked for extra butter. Waited more than 5 mins, and had to ask the other waiter again for butter. He responded right away. Looked like a nice place for great seafood. Got a crab combo bucket with the 1/2 Lobster tail. The food was bland tasting like cheap crab boils. Regular butter also. Garlic butter would have made a difference. Should have gone to Red Lobster.
The food is simply okay. I ordered a lobster mac and unfortunately all I tasted was butter lol. The bathrooms are a pretty tight squeeze (I’m not fat or anything) the parrot is Lexi at the bay ibis
Food was just okay, the steamer pot crab was over cooked. Clam bake didn't have much flavor but portions were great for the price. The highlight of the meal was our starter, the crab bisque. Server was very attentive and nice. Restaurant is clean and seating is open to water where there are scheduled shark feedings! Only down side of the atmosphere is the busy road right next to the water.
For the experience, it is recommended; however, food was lacking flavor. Know what you like and ask for seasoning to enhance it, as it's very bland. Overall, the seafood pot was overcooked. I made the best of what was offered. Enjoyed the drink recommended by the waitress a long Island iced tea was strong and satisfying. Very friendly waitress, Denise, made great suggestions about the menu. The pot was not appetizing as the Lobster was chewy and overcooked but other items was plentiful for two.
We traveled down to Key West for the weekend for a couples getaway from the Panhandle. We saw this location and were really excited to try. Though it was a tad out of our price range, its curb appeal had us hooked. We walked up, unsure where to go, as no one was ready to greet us. We walked through the dining towards the bar area, where we crossed paths with the host. She was friendly, we were sat quickly, but waited 15 minutes to be spoken to. In the meantime, as a stickler for hospitality, I observe the team, their ways, their energy and overall system to service. There were not many smiles in this crew. Their energy seemed low, and the excitement within a tourist location was lack luster. As two people who were absolutely pumped to be in the Keys, this was a perfect opportunity to sell us on the experience of The Stoned Crab, and it missed from the start. I am disappointed in this because it is such a great location, the decor sells an awesome vibe and the potential to be a really, really incredible business, however all of that means nothing without a happy crew. Not one smile was seen, not among the staff, or within the interactions with their guests.
We had dinner at the Stoned Crab last night, a party of four. Everyone enjoyed their meals (the NY strip, fettuccini with shrimp & lobster, and two had the fresh catch with pink shrimp, plus the calamari appetizer.) Service was terribly slow and the restaurant wasn’t busy. Took nearly ten minutes for anyone to take our drink order, and even longer to get flatware - which we flagged someone who wasn’t even our server to get AFTER we had been brought our app. The menu is pretty basic and doesn’t list what sides come with what entree. It would be helpful for diners to be able to review those options on the menu, rather than the server rattling them off so fast you can barely hear. Atmosphere was nothing to write home about, and noise from the road didn’t help.
We went because another family at our hotel went the night before and enjoyed it. I read the lobster here could be overcooked and ours definitely was when we came. We never got our appetizer. I asked when the entrees came and got a dismissive “it’s coming”. Our waitress didn’t stop by at all until giving the check so had to tell her the appetizer never came and to take it off the bill. Our son loved the spot as he could see fish and lobster while we sat outside but overall it was ok. We went because another family at our hotel went the night before and enjoyed it. The rice was crunchy and we had dirty dishes on our table when our food came that was not taken till the end. The server was real nice but interrupted us while we were catching up and before everyone was done wanted to bring the check. I wish I could train customer service....
Our waitress would not even let a 16-year-old order a kids meal, which was absolutely ridiculous. The food was really good, but the service was not. She only checked on us once and we had to leave our dad behind to pay. Not only that, but the food was also extremely expensive.
I ordered the steamed stone crab expecting it to be fresh, but unfortunately the texture was dry and chewy, almost like chewing paper. Frozen stone crab is usually meant to be served cold, so having it steamed was quite disappointing. That said, the service crew were excellent. They were professional, disciplined, and well-trained, almost like soldiers. Their service was the best part of the experience.
The venue was nicely decorated for Christmas, with lights twinkling off the canal, but then we were seated on heavy, hard, slat-bottom chairs, very uncomfortable. My husband ordered a " Jim & Ginger", the waitress was unfamiliar with the drink, offering GIN, and when corrected, said they do not carry Jim Beam, so je asked for Jack Daniels. The drink they delivered was basically all gingerale and ice. We ordered the Oysters Rockeffeler, and she explained theirs are made with bacon and cheese, not spinach( say WHAT?)but we said we would try them anyway. There was NO trace of bacon, but under the melted top cheese, the oysters were bathed in a cream sauce! We asked for spoons as these are too " saucy" to eat with the fork provided. We ended our experience there. Regarding the lack of any bacon, the waitress apologized and the manager slightly reduced the bill. We would not recommend, but if you do decide to go, bring a seat cushion and lower expectations than the menu prices indicate.
Food was ok. Service was slow Seating area is open and it was windy and cold! I did see as we were leaving, there were portable heaters. Waitress didn't offer to sit us by one. Would have made our night more enjoyable.
Stone crab 🦀 was great. Paella over cooked and lacked flavor of the really spanish dish recipe.
Very disappointing. Poor value for money. We came to The Stoned Crab with decent expectations and left feeling properly ripped off. Ordered 1lb of crab and received four crab claws. That’s it. No sides. No garnish. Nothing. For €67. Absolutely underwhelming and nowhere near worth the price. The fish lobster dish was slightly better value at €40, mainly because it at least came with fries. Still nothing special. Total bill came to €150 including tips for two mains and three beers. That’s outrageous for what we were served. This place is expensive, stingy with portions, and offers very poor value. If you’re actually hungry, avoid. You’ll leave lighter in the wallet and still wanting dinner elsewhere. 👎
Worst restaurant on the island. Please dont eat here and assume this is the best you can find. Soggy corn on the cob, that clearly sat in water all day, warm fish dip? Lobster tail that was so over cooked that it took a steak knife to cut. Don't waste your time on the salads soaked and dripping from a pool of dressing they sit in (that was ordered on the side) WAY overpriced, no dish served as ordered. Cocktails are great if you prefer sugar over alchohol. This is the largest island tourist food trap you will find. Yes we spoke to server outlining each problem as it arose and at the end of meal. No manager available, chalked up the lost, paid, now hoping I can save others from same mistake.
