Kinsley's Kingston Reviews
This new menu was absolutely amazing!! Chef Spencer definitely hit the nail on the head with his menu!! The appetizers were super tasty! The chicken was crunchy crispy and super moist!! Great flavors! Had the Tivoli mushroom tacos were out of this world. The salmon ratatouille was on another level!! Had to have dessert after a phenomenal meal. Everything was fantastic. The new manager Jordan stopped by to make sure everything was good, the music that was playing fit the mood.
Loved it. We showed up early at 5pm and didn't have to wait. We had a lobster roll and a bunch of sides and small plates, some of which I scarfed down without even taking a photo like creamed corn and greens. Each dish was very good! In a town where we found practically nothing open at 5pm on Tuesday, Restaurant Kinsley was an oasis of taste.
We just had cocktails and appetizers in the bar area. The Uptown cocktail was my favorite. For apps/snacks we had the ricotta bread was sooo delicious but a little pricey for the portion. The chick pea bar snack was great as well. Bartender is professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Bonus - we found out that during happy hour (4-6pm Mon-Thurs), all of the cocktails were $12!
I went here for Easter brunch and it didn’t disappoint. Food was very good, I loved the cheeseburger and fries! Everything was so fresh. And service was 5 stars.
Had the best experience at Kinsley for a 5.30 dinner with the girls. Kids friendly (5 and 8) Sitting by the crackling Fire, nice music, delicious food Had the pasta, pork chops, burger and a wonder apple tarte We will be back!
“Stopped by the bar at Kinsley in Kingston and was blown away. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the cocktails are perfectly crafted, and Teresa, our bartender, was phenomenal, friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about her craft. If you’re in Kingston, Kinsley is a must-visit for top-notch cocktails and great vibes.”

I had an unforgettable experience at the bar at the Kinsley Hotel, thanks to the outstanding staff who make this place shine! Theresa was super attentive and an absolute joy—her excellent sense of humor and fun vibe made every moment a blast. Christine was fantastic, bringing infectious energy and charisma that lit up the room. Charley was equally super, ensuring every guest felt right at home. And Melanie? Her radiant smile, boundless energy, and enthusiasm added such a warm, welcoming touch to the experience. This bar is incredible, but it’s Theresa, Christine, Charley, and Melanie who make it a place I love and can’t wait to return to!
Great spot! Cozy atmosphere, delicious food, creative cocktails, and friendly professional staff. Perfect for a small group or a date.
Stumbled on this place when looking for lunch after the polar express train ride and it was perfect. Vibes spot with good music and warm fireplace. Loved the decor and service. Good drinks and great burger!
We were 6 people including a 3 year old and a 95 year old. A big thank you to our server, Christine, who was so friendly and made great recommendations. She quickly put in the order for our 3 year old, a big help. One of us dairy free, and no problem. We tried all of the appetizers and the hush puppies were delicious. Branzino, tacos, burger, chicken pot pie were our mains - all terrific. Dunkaroos with sprinkles - like madeleines with a dip - yum! The blueberry bread pudding special - a hit! We were in the mezzanine level and it was essentially our own dining room - perfect for our family. Also, we really liked the music - a nice atmosphere.

I had asked around for the best Happy Hour and was told about the Kingsley 20$ smash burger and beer combo. It truly didn’t disappoint. Staff were so genuine! Christine and Lena are seriously top notch employees. Don’t pass this restaurant by, go now. It won’t disappoint!
Restaurant Kinsley is a staple for me! I absolutely love the summer grain bowl, the miso salad, and peach and little gem salad. I add salmon to all of them because they crisp the skin perfectly and it is so delicious. There is not a food item on this menu (brunch, lunch and dinner) that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. The new menu has been so refreshing and delicious! The service is always personable and considerate. The happy hour they offer is also amazing for snacks and some of their specialty cocktails at a steal of a price. Cannot reccomend this restaurant enough!
Went here for lunch, everything was delicious. I think it is worth the prices because the quality of the food. The only reason I took a star off is because we got the cheese board appetizer which in the description said it would come with jam and pickles, which is part of the reason we ordered it. We got 3 delicious cheeses with crackers and a pepper. It would have been nice if they at least told us when we ordered they were out of the pickles and jam. Either way overall good experience.
Our second time here. Service is always excellent (except nothing's “in our way”—it’s all things we ordered and enjoyed!). We thought the Nashville hot chicken wasn’t hot!, so our server Christine brought more hot honey, and that helped. We appreciated their creative thinking! ❤️ Each time we’ve been seated at the little cafe tables in armchairs. They are cute but not the best for dining. And the lighting from the open kitchen is cold. Still, we’re glad to be in this charming spot.

Generally we found the appetizers to be more interesting and well executed than the mains. With the exception of the spaghetti, I’d say the best experience is a tour of the smaller plates. The cocktails were also a hit- In my opinion, the stracciatella is the best thing on the menu.
I liked the atmosphere of the place—there are lots of natural plants, and the dried flowers on the tables are a nice touch. Overall, the food was good, but the coffee was disappointing. The cappuccino was too bitter and served in a glass that was too hot to hold comfortably. I agree with previous comments regarding portion sizes—they are small for the price, and there is a lack of communication from the servers. We ordered avocado toast with extra eggs, and it felt like they reduced the amount of avocado because the egg covered part of the bread. As a result, the avocado only covered about half of the bread and it was very thin. Good that they bring extra avocado when I mentioned this to our server. Items from the kids’ menu come with a choice of side, which I didn’t notice at first. However, the waiter didn’t ask what we wanted and brought fries by default. As others have mentioned, spoons for coffee are not provided unless requested. Additionally, one of my children initially ordered from the kids’ menu with a fruit side, then changed her mind and ordered from the regular menu. Despite this, the side was still brought and charged without confirming with us
Was pretty disappointed by this place. Amazing location and gorgeous inside & out, waitstaff was wonderful & accomodating, but the pricing just doesn’t match up with the food quantity and quality. The food was good and fresh, but $20 for three tacos without meat is egregious (the mole was great, but pumpkin was an odd choice, butternut probably would have worked better). My partner ordered the fall grain bowl with chicken added and it was $34. We also ordered the squash donuts as an app which were my favorite part of the meal. But overall, we spent $86 BEFORE tip, we didn’t order any alcohol, and left still feeling hungry. Unfortunately we won’t be back here.

Not worth the price. Very nice setting, but let down by dinner. I ordered the chicken pot pie and was disappointed to receive soup with some puff pastry on top. The menu made no mention of how they prepared it so one would naturally assume it'd be a classic pot pie. For 32 dollars, I was hoping it would be more flavorful, tasted very basic. My fiance ordered the gnocchi dish, and the gnocchi itself was overcooked.

Well. An attempt was made. But the basics are sorely lacking. At Brunch...when you order coffee, you'd expect spoons to also be available. (Nope. Separate ask, separate trip) When you order the "Belgian waffle with Seasonal Jam", you'd expect the waffle to come out WITH the Jam and butter and the side of bacon that was ordered. The Jam was a separate trip. The Bacon came out after we were done eating (after we inquired about it multiple times). And we did NOT eat fast. And the waffle was underdone. Our coffee was never topped off so by the time our food came out it was cold. And apparently they have no coffee pots, so to refresh the coffee required the waitress to take the cup and saucer inside to refill. (?!) And let's be clear, this was not espresso or cappuccino...just basic coffee. Any diner handles it better. The side of toast was not toasted, one side was put on the griddle ...not inherently bad per se, but the other side was cold and the toast tasted like griddle vs sour dough. And for the price? No. The management needs to seriously review its ops, and it's training of both back of the house and front of the house staff. But the outdoor seating area is lovely.

This used to be one of our favorite places in the Hudson Valley. Unfortunately -- though the atmosphere is fantastic and the service is 1st rate and caring -- the food has slipped. Despite a creative menu, it under-delivers now. Four of us ate there last night, celebrating a birthday; my wife ordered the steak frites and it was inedible -- so tough it couldn't be chewed and swallowed and it reportedly tasted bad, too. (And was expensive.) The cheese board that I ordered for the table was listed as coming with pickles; nope, a very small selection of fine-tasting cheese slices with no pickles in sight. Few crackers as well and not enough cheese slivers. = $24.00. With only one of us having a pre-dinner drink, everyone else drinking water, the bill came to about $300. So...the value just isn't there, currently, unless you think of it as renting a nice place to gather. We were, surprisingly, disappointed after great experiences there previously. (After reading the restaurant's response, below, I want to add that EARLIER reviews cited the missing pickles on the cheese board as an issue and the restaurant responded by saying they would work to make sure the menu was reflective of what was actually served. They didn't and I walked right into it; ordered a very tiny cheese board with no pickles for $24.) I wish I had enough faith in their correcting what they note and acknowledge needs to be corrected, but...it still doesn't change the basic value issue or the decline in quality of food quality. I'm not going to be giving them another visit, but -- if you do -- be forewarned.
HORRIFIC!!! Do not come here!!!!! I would never leave a review like this unless I really genuinely wholeheartedly meant it. Waited way over an hour for the food, it was crazy to sit there that long especially with two hungry kids. Then the kids’ butter pasta came out and it was drowning in a pool of butter. It was almost unreal that something like that could even be served. The photos speak for themselves, literally butter water in a bowl. Unbelievable!!! Then BOTH of the burgers were not made the way they were requested. The rest of the food was simply mediocre. Also, EXTREMELY expensive, especially for such awful service and food. Just trust me, do not waste your money and precious time by coming here!!!

Do not dine here. The inside of the restaurant was empty because it was 11:01am on a sleepy Sunday. They seated us outside in the cold, we had to turn the heaters on ourself and they were removing the locks from the outdoor furniture. The waitress promptly told us they ran out of milk when we ordered our coffees. They also ran out of bacon the “day before.” Who runs out of milk and bacon at a breakfast restaurant. Most IMPORTANTLY my friend ordered a gluten free bun on the bacon less “BEC.” The waitress said it was no problem and wrote it down. When the sandwich came out because the service had been so sub par thus far we inquired if the bun was actually gluten free before taking a bite. She looked perplexed and confirmed that the kitchen did in fact give us a regular bun qnd proceeded to ask if they could slide the eggs onto a new gluten free bun. Needless to say when the new sandwich came out we inspected the sandwich. It appeared to be egg beaters and not actual eggs. It tasted like microwaved eggs from Dunkin’ Donuts that had been dehydrated. This is not on the fault of the kitchen but the aforementioned egg beaters were seasoned with sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. My friend is allergic to sesames and never would have thought to mention this allergy for a BEC. I can’t imagine the value that pumpkin seeds add to an egg sandwhich. This was priced 3-4 times more than the value of the food. This is not the fault of the waitress but the entire establishment is mismanaged. Bad food, bad experience, bad service.
Have been there several times when it was good but the food has gone down hill. Everything was flavorless and the so-called “PotPie” was a joke- bland soup with a few nuggets of chicken and no apparent vegetables in a nondescript broth with a piece of flaky pastry on the side. Shame because the room is nice and the service is ok.
