Sonder

Sonder is a hidden gem right on a major street! I cannot believe I hadn’t been here but I’m glad I was able to convince the family to head to a new spot. The meat - chicken, steak and pork belly - were all cooked to absolute perfection and I was VERY impressed particularly by the steak. Loved the Mac n cheese gnocchi and the unique flavors on the ginger risotto. Fun vibes - very hip for the area and who doesn’t love a wine bar with disco balls and a backyard? I would absolutely recommend this spot! Thank you so much and keep up the great work!

This was one of the absolute best meals we’ve had in a very long time. The menu looked compelling, and we were not disappointed. The starters were all extremely flavorful and surprising (jammy eggs, pickled veggies and the bread were all to die for). The pork was recommended and was impressive. The cranberries really created a wonderful layering of flavor, but for me, the chicken was the star. This was the most moist, flavorful chicken I think I’ve ever had. I would eat this chicken every day if I could. The service was great too. Staff was polite and friendly and gave great recommendations when we asked what was good. The vibe was easy and cool on a slow night. It was like the most super elevated bar food I’ve ever had in a chill bar/restaurant that’s not overly pretentious. Great for a nice cozy cold evening in Kingston. Loved it.

This restaurant easily earns a perfect 5 out of 5. Every dish we tried surpassed expectations in terms of flavor. If I lived in Kingston, it would undoubtedly become a regular spot for me. The high rating is well-deserved.

Amazing food! Baby gem salad, golden beets with goat cheese and pretzel crunch, sesame semolina bread all delicious, as was the wine. Also very reasonably priced! Wait staff was very friendly. Cute place!

Cute restaurant, nice waiter, and delicious food! The strip steak dish was the home runner, so so tender, delicious. The salad was also very good!

An excellent night out. The risotto was so comforting and paired deliciouslu with the Italian white wine. My husband enjoyed a thick cut pork chop with apples and ginger ribbons. The portions were perfect! We ended with the cheese cake which was excellent. I had heard complaints of it being a tight squeeze for space inside, but it was comfortable for a Friday night dinner crowd. We sat at the bar table and had plenty of room to enjoy ourselves. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She had a great sense of humor and did not hesitate to ask the chef about food sensitivity. I could not decide which wine I wanted and she allowed me to sample both before I made my selection. The final pour was generous, but not heavy. A great place for date night and a really enjoyable experience.

Had dinner at Sonder Kingston and it was incredible. The beet salad with jalapeño cream cheese was unique and flavorful, and the thick-cut pork chop was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Great wine, calm atmosphere, and amazing service. Easily one of the best dining experiences in Kingston.

Had such a wonderful meal here. The menu is small, but every dish was so beautifully complex and special. Every bite was a surprise, like, oh I didn't know this could taste like this. The restaurant had such a good welcoming energy, I wish this could be my local. Still dreaming about that beeet dish. ❤️

I am enchanted by this place each time I go. The service is down to earth and kind, and each server has amazing wine knowledge. The descriptions are approachable and fun and the recommendations are spot on. The food is interesting and delicious and seasonal. The environment is stunning and romantic. I can feel the philosophy and love poured into every aspect of this restaurant. Yall are truly amazing 🩷🩷

Simply enough - the food here is great. On a deeper level, this restaurant is very special, and you can sense the lore behind every dish and wine selection. We were lucky enough to have one of the owners as a server, and they told us the (hilarious! incredible! and heartwarming) stories behind each thing we ordered, from the shrimp cocktail to the burger to the chilled red wine. I am still thinking about the special cavatelli with charred asparagus and frizzled onions! I wish I could eat here every week but I will have to settle for planning to eat here every time I am back in Kingston.

I will begin by saying I ended up getting a tube of their brown honey butter to go, and would have taken a whole loaf of bread if they were selling it that night (they sadly weren’t). It was the highlight of our meal. We also got some great tater tots and green salad as sides. We shared the mixed grill lamb plate which was good but we felt the sausages were a bit of a miss. We saw the half chicken on the table next to us and wished we had gotten that instead! Brownie dessert was decadent and very good. Would love to come back for the rest of the menu!

My favorite restaurant on my weekend trip to Kingston. The vibes were immaculate from start to finish. We sat at the bar and the servers were very attentive, they guided us through their recommendations on their unique wine list and we were very happy with the choices. The food was phenomenal. For starters we had the pickled eggs and bread; the pickled eggs stole the show and are now my favorite take on deviled eggs. For entrees we ate the doctor pepper steak & the spring risotto; big portions and extremely flavorful. What strikes me the most is how you can taste how fresh the ingredients are and how masterful the chef is in mixing unique ingredients together to create such complexity in the dishes. As an NYC resident that has eaten at some of the top restaurants, I will say that sonder is of that ilk. 5 stars.

Wow is this place good! Apologies for the flash photography: dining room was dark. Four of us had a spectacular meal at Sonder Kingston this past Saturday, 8/24. We ordered most of the menu, and it was all fabulous. The executive chef/owner is the former chef of the private dining room at Eleven Madison Park. He and his chef de cuisine Hylan are firing on all cylinders. Standouts were: -shrimp skewers -golden beets (w/local honey, farmers cheese, pretzel crumble) -house sesame bread with garlic scape butter and browned honey butter -pickle plate -tomato salad -pickled jammy eggs (the best deviled eggs I’ve ever had) -gigante beans in a lemony broth -grass-fed lamb lollipop chops -dry-aged flank steak ...honestly, all of the food was incredibly creative and delicious. The service is attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine. Front dining room has a cozy, rustic vibe, while the spacious backyard outdoor dining area has a crazy high pergola and a wood-fired pizza oven, not in use yet. Cannot wait to get back!

Pleasant surprise to have such a wonderful time dining at Sonder for first time. The vibe was incredible. Service was friendly and helpful. Wine selection excellent (can't beat the happy hour wines BTG and the witty poetic pop cultury one line descriptions are hilarious) and the food super delicious. Everything tasted amazing. Would gladly eat here every week if I lived nearer. Will be back!

Had a delicious burger here (perfectly seasoned) and some super crispy tater tots that I pretty much inhaled. My sister had the brisket ravioli which was also delicious. The star of the meal for me was the dessert - I’m already craving some more of that bread pudding. Chocolate lava cake was also exceptionally yum. Recommend!

really cute spot, nice cozy feels which i love. wish i took photos of the food but food, wine, and service was 10/10. if i lived in kingston, i def could see myself dining alone here often but also great place to come with a group of friends or family
