Sissy's Cafe Kingston Reviews
Fave spot in Kingston! Great eats for vegans and their partners. Delicious kombucha and juices and smoothies. We come here every time we’re in the area. Yum!!
Excellent food. I got the Sissy's Breakfast, which came with good scrambled eggs, nicely spiced potatoes, salad, and delicious bread dripping with butter. Also, the coffee is pretty good. Great place.
The best sandwiches and smoothies in Kingston! Hot Bird, BLAT, and Mango Tango are my favorites. Friendly, warm staff that always make you smile.
I bought 2 different wraps 1 for me and 1 for my girl mine was better than I expected and my girl loved her's . I just wish they had longer hrs. Customer my schedule is so tight . it's hard for me to get there as much as I would like to ..
My sister and I were passing through and looking for a cozy place to grab lunch, stumbled across this gem by happenstance. The menu is short and sweet, the vibe is warm and the service was great-- the food full of flavor and texture.I had the tempeh wrap and it blew my mind, I almost ordered another to take home with me.This will be a must everytime Im in the area .(and now I will definitely be more often! )
I had the sweetie pie wrap, and omg so incredible. The combination of the sweet potato, black bean, and goat cheese AMAZING!
May have been the wind but the smoothies here instantly cooled me down in today's humidity! Cute seating outside on the sidewalk which was really nice. Fast and friendly service there was no wait to place our order. Good sandwiches as well!!
Funky, fun lunch spot. Best smoothies around, I’m partial to Nutty Professor. Also a fan of their breakfast wraps.
I just ate here for the first time and I honestly had one of the best tuna sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. Take the veggie delight and add tuna and it was amazing
The staff here are very nice, very welcoming, and focus on customers. The food is always tasty and has good non-meat options (like the "Sweetie pie"). Prices are around $7-10 for a sandwich at this writing. Try a smoothie and their cookies!
Our first meal in Kingston and one of our favorites! We ordered two smoothies and panini sandwiches (BLT and the ham and cheese). The smoothies were very good and the sandwiches were super delicious. A great start to our weekend trip!
Love this little place! Great coffee and truly delicious sandwiches, paninis, and soups. (they have great breakfast options as well) Friendly, energetic staff and comfortable atmosphere. Excellent vegan and gluten-free items also!
I'm from NYC and was visiting Kingston for the week. Camera here one day for coffee but it was too Kate in the day and they were closing up. I was still greeted by the friendliest woman who handed me a menu and asked me to return soon. I did today for breakfast and loved the Greek wrap and the coffee. The place had a great and welcoming energy. This will definitely be my breakfast and lunch spot when I am in Kingston. Ps. Our waitress this morning was great too :)
Great hometown spot. Tasty sandwiches, fun colorful interior, friendly staff, good coffee. Ideal place to hang out while wandering around uptown Kingston.
Very good food! The staff was very friendly and the food came out fast! We got the bagel breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito!Would definitely recommend the Ring Of Fire coffee!
Not the greatest selection of beverages, but still nice and very affordable. For example a small coffee was $2, large was $2.50...sadly no hot chai tea latte...only iced, which on a cold day would have been a perfect match. Overall though a good experience with friendly staff.
Great little cafe in downtown Kingston - grabbed a couple of sandwiches and a salad for lunch and everything was great!
Sissy's is the best! It's the one cafe in the Hudson Valley that my husband and I always come back to. The food is just so consistently good! Casual, comfortable environment and always delicious.
I LOVE IT! Hot bird is THE comfort food! I get what use to be called the Alex smoothie with banana blueberry strawberry and chocolate syrup it’s so yummy. I strongly recommend!!
Best sandwich ever I had with pesto, great location easy to walk in excellent customer service and great prices… overall clean and good coffee
A great little hole in the wall tucked in a Wall Street store front. The ingredients are fresh and clean. Everything on the menu is prepared gluten free so you do not have to worry about asking for or deleting out ingredients if you are celiac or gluten sensitive. (HOWEVER-they do offer regular gluten breads and pastries so if you are celiac, beware of likely cross contamination!) They have all types of choices of breads, meats and vegan "meatless" alternatives. They make their own kombucha and have some of the most amazing smoothies! They do have a few alcoholic beverages on the menu too made from prosecco, beer, kombucha, etc. The food is always delicious ranging from breakfast to lunch fare as they are open from 8 to 4 Monday thru Friday, and 9 to 3 Saturday and Sunday. Definitely worth stopping by!
Best spot in town for friendly service and an excellent sandwich. I love the southwestern wrap (aka breakfast burrito) which is fresh and hot and delicious- as well as the tempeh Reuben. Yum!
Was on the way back to New York City from a ski trip and found this gem on google. Warmest service, fresh sandwiches that were easily the highlight of our trip (we got the BLT and Hot Bird), and good black coffee. Thank you Sissy’s!!!
This place is GREAT! Food is delicious and service is excellent! Food is served quickly and portions are big!! The peanut butter cookie is a must try!
We decided to do a quick lunch stop on our way back from Vermont. Such yummy food!!! We had the Jamon Y Queso, Hammy and mango tango smoothie. My husband immediately said it's good after his first bite which is saying alot coz he is not a foodie. The ingredients were fresh, both sandwiches came out hot with melted cheese. We enjoyed every bite. The mango tango was a good blend and balance of all the ingredients, I could taste each fruit! Will definitely come back if we pass by again!
Sissy's has AMAZING food, GREAT atmosphere, and WONDERFUL staff. Anyone thinking about visiting should definitely do it, it's a Kingston MUST! For sure ignore any reviews saying otherwise. Literally no one cares to listen to whiny, racist white people.
Just stopped in got a Hot Bird togo and it was delicious. Service was was good, I was greeted as soon as I walking in the door. It was clean and i believe the pananni was definately a good value. I'll be stopping back soon to try one of their smoothies.
In town for the day and we went based on reviews - glad we did. Sandwiches were full of flavor, with all of the ingredients in perfect balance. Cool, funky interior and nice staff. If I lived nearby I'd be there all the time.
On lunch break from the courthouse down the street I had to fine something quick. As a vegan my options were limited. I saw a big line but some vegan options I went in and decided to get a "Pink Lady" drink and some wonderful Almond Butter Cookies. The drink was delicious and filling and the cookie was soft and chewy and not expensive. The drink was a bit pricey but all fresh ingredients, not complaining. You have to climb 3 steps up from the sidewalk so if you have mobility issues, you might have an issue.
My wife and I stopped off here to take a break from the road. Walked around town and decided to give this place a try. They did not disappoint. Everything was amazing. I had the hot bird panini with turkey cheese and avocado which was amazing and my lovely wife had the sweety pie which she enjoyed immensely. It was a nice change of pace from the typical sandwich place.
The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly ! We ate the steak salad, the portion is big and very delicious We couldn’t come here and not taste the Schnitzel and it was so tasty. They were nice enough to offer us a cake that was out of this world
The best vegan wrap I’ve EVER had! Actually the best wrap period. Haven’s Wrap was incredible and large enough for two meals! My friend enjoyed her Turkey Ruben very much as well. But I really wasn’t even paying any attention to her at all because my wrap was so damn good. I mean really, really good. I might have to move to Kingston 😁
Centrally located in the stockade area, this place never disappoints... had the Maker Salad this time and it was possibly the best salad that I have ever had that I didn't personally make. Warm thinly sliced Tempeh over an incredible salad, very good everything completely fresh. Lots of good choices, great ingredients, the staff is friendly. The ambience is cheerful and uplifting. Definitely a 5 out of 5
OBSESSED!! This place is delicious ! There are so many amazing vegetarian options ! Such a lovely staff. I could eat there everyday day!
Creative, fresh and always delicious! As a local, this is one of my go-to places for breakfast or lunch. The staff is very fun and friendly. I've eaten more Southwestern Wraps than I care to admit. Coffee (just the basic, no espresso) is always good. And their bakes goods are fantastic! I have friend who visit from out of town a few times a year and every time, they want to go to Sissy's. I can't blame them!
Great staff , great service, and tasty local food with vegan and gluten-free options. Moderate prices, but it's because of the quality and freshness of the ingredients, no smoothie box mixes here that I've seen. (And uptown storefronts are expensive!) Super cute local cafe vibes with lots of sandwich, smoothie, and pastry/cookie options. Perfect for a quick bite by yourself or with a small group.
Sissy's never disappoints! I've had so many positive experiences here and the food is so consistently good and well priced. If not for the reviews of one conservative snowflake, and another person who had a bad experience and made three different accounts to leave the same damn review, they'd probably have about 5 stars. This dedicated team made it through the pandemic and our community is so grateful they did! Sissy's for the win!
Can I be honest, I'm from out of town and I hate driving in Kingston. It stresses me out. I come from a place without roundabouts and the streets can be pretty full up with cars making it difficult to find parking sometimes. But all of that is 100% worth it for this restaurant. In fact, Sissy's is the entire reason I even made the trek to Kingston, in the rain, on my last visit to NY state. My girlfriend and I found them while looking for breakfast this past May, and it was one of the places that I insisted we had to go back to while I was in town again last week. I think I've had a craving for their smoothies and breakfast tacos for the past six months. They're absolutely delicious, and filling without being heavy. I love the nutty professor the most. I would drive in Kingston a thousand times to come here. I swear by their food and their friendly, nice staff.
The music was not overpowering...it created charm and atmosphere. The women behind the counter were cheerful helpful and always smiled. The menu is not traditional, it is eclectic but not adventurous. Which is awesome. The sandwiches were new takes on traditional meals. I had the Louie. Phenomenal. I went with my daughter and it was quaint, comfortable, clean and easy to get in get a seat and enjoy. Overall....a five star experience. Thank you sissy's cafe for a most memorable sandwich. I highly recommend.
Sissys is a Kingston institution. The sandwiches and smoothies are excellent. They never disappoint
On a beautiful, or even not so beautiful, day you can eat outside. Lots of healthy, and tasy, vegetarian choices, as well as some meat-lovers' favorites.
Great place run by great people. Food is unpretentious and delicious, prices are fair, baked goods are insanely good! A rare gem of a breakfast/lunch spot. Pie in the Sky smoothie changed my life.
I had the vegan corn chowder ($6). I also opted for the croutons which were super crunchy, spicy, and yummy. I love this place! Great vibe, healthy food. Will definitely come again.
I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s the level I hold all other places that do sandwiches, smoothies, and more to. My favorite vegan and gluten-free option here is the Vegan Delight in a gluten free WRAP. The gluten free sandwich is smaller than the regular or gluten free wrap but for the same price. My favorite smoothie is the nutty professor (you can ask for it to not have yogurt if you want to be vegan). Easily my favorite restaurant in uptown Kingston!
their green monster juice is very solid and the tuna wrap was also pretty tasty! the staff was also sweet. would definitely come back if i’m in the area again :-)
Love the vibes inside. Women working there were very kind, and the decor was very homey and hip. Coffee was great, and both pastries wonderful.
These sesame peanut noodles are ridiculously good right now, I felt compelled to write a review. I LOVE the new design, and all the special details to the signage, and neons. I can't get over the hanging deconstructed sandwich art piece in the window!! just a genius place really that I have been frequenting for years. They always do it right with the vegan options, and the creativity that goes into the food is all that. Sissy's introduced me to sauerkraut via the "vegan delight."
Great and comfy little cafe! Very fresh, tasty food. Great breakfast wraps and sandwiches. Service was warm and friendly. Good teas and coffees also. And we now know what a beermosa is. :) Would definitely stop in again when traveling north through NY.
Cute cafe with both vegan and gluten-free options. Food and drinks were very good, happy we stopped in here for lunch. The kale potato dill soup was so goooood. 😋
Sissy’s is the Kingston breakfast and lunch spot. Offering all kinds of options for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, while maintaining healthy and delicious ingredients in the food. In your next Kingston visit make sure you stop by Sissy’s. Your inner sissy will thank you.
Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich, which was delicious! They have gluten free bread and were friendly and accommodating. Outdoor seating area is lovely and they have a speaker so you can wait for your order outside as well. Will definitely be back 🙂
Stopped here for a snack while on a road trip. 15 minutes off of 87N. Located on a very cute street so it's an excellent place to stretch your legs. The Glazed croissant was delicious.
This is my favorite spot in Kingston. Not only do they have the best coffee and homemade blueberry scones to die for but every sandwich, salad, and smoothie I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a bunch) is delicious, nutritious, and energizing. The staff are all so sweet. They have a lot of seating, a good bathroom, great vibes, local beer, cool tshirts. Don’t sleep on the tempeh Reuben!
First time trying it yesterday and it was fantastic! Perfect sandwich and great staff. I will surely return.
This was my first visit to Sissy’s and I will definitely be going back. I enjoyed a fantastic southwestern wrap and my boyfriend devoured a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. With food this tasty, it’s no wonder this lively little spot was bustling on this slushy Thursday morning. I highly recommend stopping by for some fresh, homemade comfort food!
I did not sit down and eat, I ordered to go. But I could tell that this little place had a great vibe. Great music playing, the workers singing to it, it was like being in your own home. Love the atmosphere. I ordered the Bammy, DELICIOUS! Food was great. I definitely will be going back!!
Stopped off in Kingston during a road trip for lunch and found Sissy’s ahead of time on Google Maps and ordered ahead. Very friendly waitstaff. They had our lunch waiting for us. Grabbed it to go and ate outside. Super tasty sandwiches and wraps. I had the Green Goat. Awesome. I would stop by here multiple times a week if it was close to home. Bathrooms are clean ;)
Great little spot in Kingston with delicious breakfast sandwiches and smoothies. The space is small and seating can be tight but you can order ahead. Our breakfast sandwiches were delicious. We had the country wrap and southwestern wrap. Both were flavorful and filling. I recommend this spot for a quick bite and delicious meal!
The staff is really kind and welcoming. The space has a nice local vibe. They are efficient with preparing food and everything I’ve had has been quality! Fresh ingredients and a great selection for various dietary needs. Great outdoor seating as well as cafe style indoor seating. Highly recommend!
We love Sissy’s cafe where you can find delicious sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, and baked goods! They provide fresh breakfast and lunch options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and meat eaters. The location in uptown Kingston is wonderful and the staff is very friendly. Don’t miss the cookies!
What can I say? I love the breakfast burritos at Sissy's so much that I had breakfast here everyday of my trip to Kingston. Day One I had the Southwestern with Bacon on a Gluten Free Wrap (Egg, Cheddar, Avocado, Salsa, Beans) with AquaVitea Kombucha in Hibiscus Ginger Lime. Totally delicious and honestly the only time I've had a gluten free breakfast burrito ANYWHERE and it rocked. It even had the beautiful lines from the panini press! Day 2 I had the Country Burrito on the Gluten Free Wrap (Eggs, Cheddar, Bacon and Cajun Potatoes) with the freshly squeezed OJ. The Country Burrito is my new favorite--a perfect, simple breakfast that I can't wait to order again on my next trip to Kingston. The OJ was a delicious accompaniment. The staff is taking every COVID precaution: masks inside for all and strongly encouraged for guests, only outdoor seating for now (for reference it is late October '21). So happy to support this business and to return after coming here in February 2020, right before the pandemic hit. Now my question is: what brand of gluten free tortillas do they use? Sissy's has seriously set the standard for breakfast burrito perfection and makes sure the gf crowd isn't missing out either! Amen.
"The Green Goat is possibly the best sandwich I have ever had. I have ordered it three times, and the avocados have always been at that millisecond of perfect ripeness. The manager must have sold their soul to the avocado deities. The smoothies are mostly vegan with no added sugar and delicious. The staff are also nice." —Katherine Wolf
What a surprise! Great food for breakfast and lunch, many creative choices. Plus veggie and vegan choices as well. Warm and friendly service. We plan on returning often.
Musty but clean place. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. Nice people behind the counter. Trendy and liberal like the rest of the town.
Great food with vegan options. Got the BLT with tempeh and vegenaise. The soup was delicious! Only thing is that it was quite pricy. A smoothie was 10 dollars.
The wait was brutal. The food was delicious. Love all the healthy options. Very limited seating inside. Lots of people sitting outside. Would definitely come back! I ordered a gf wrap but got a whole wheat one so next time I would just double check my order when I get it.
Recommended by a friend, we went to Sissy’s for lunch yesterday. Wide ranging menu of great options. The food was great and reasonably priced. We look forward to visiting g again soon.
Very strange server made me feel awkward. I will not return.
I was looking for a place that wasn’t a diner. Something in Uptown. I saw this place looked up their menu and had my eyes on the Hammy and Havens Wrap for weeks. Finally went, that Hammy was an amazing sandwich and is now one of my ALL time faves. The Havens Wrap was excellent as well. But the Hammy!!!!!
Local hippie kind of juice place. Nothing special, but if you need some fresh juice it's a place to pick some up.
Sissy’s is consistent! A good lunch spot right on north front street that has been a quality option for healthier sandwhich, salad, and breakfast options for me. Love the sweet potato wrap and I reallly enjoy their pesto. The smoothies are also aaaamazing. One of my favorite treats here is the almond butter cookie! Outdoor tables and a couple bar seats inside. Counter service, and sometimes does take a little on the longer side for food prep but I think the food is worth it.
Coffee was good. I got a steak and egg wrap that was good nothing special. My wife got bacon egg cheese in hard roll with avacado. The bacon appeared to be microwave bacon. Food wasn't bad but didn't seem worth the price.
Feel the food quality isn’t the same and to completely get rid of regular potatoes for the breakfast wraps is a strange choice. Sweet potato overpowers everything and takes away from the “breakfast” components.
The food was honestly just not that good for the price. The avocado was old and slime incased. The wrap itself tasted just like the ones they would use in my old high school cafeteria. Basically this place is organic school lunch. Yeah you can praise the organic factor but you can't ignore that it taste like school cafeteria chow. The only thing I enjoyed was the coffee. If they had better quality checks and a different bread distributor. The food lacked inspiration, it felt like I was served something they just threw together. An absolute lack of passion and standards.
I had higher expectations for this place but was disappointed. Ten dollars for a breakfast sandwich that took over 20 minutes to be made , not sure what took so long since they used microwaved bacon. For ten bucks I thought they would use real, fresh bacon.
I want to start off this review by saying that I decided to visit Sissy's Cafe based off of multiple recommendations from Friends when I had asked for a good place to get breakfast. I went out of my way to drive here and try their food because of the responses that I got. I walked in and I was greeted right away and my order was taken quickly. The food came out in a reasonable time frame and was very tasty. The unfortunate part of my visit was when one of the employees who is an African American woman thought it would be a good idea to have a conversation with an African American female customer about a show on Netflix called dear white people. Now I have no idea what the show is about, but I can only surmise that it is a liberal leftist attempt to portray white people and every single thing that they do as racist. As soon as they started their conversation I immediately tuned them out and ignored them because it boiled my blood instantly. Now the double standard here is that if I was talking to another white male about a show called dear black people, I feel confident that there would have been a conflict. It was not a smart move from a business perspective to have that type of conversation in front of customers, especially white customers who are sitting literally within Arm's Reach of you. Although the food was good, I will never return to this establishment based off of the experience I had there. Hopefully someone at the cafe reads this, and they realize that if you want to run a successful business you act as a professional every single day. *Update: after posting this review (which I originally gave 3 stars because the food was good) a regular customer of Sissy's spoke to the employees at Sissy's and they were all "offended" by my post so she reached out to me on Facebook messenger and began to attack me and call ME racist (the hypocrisy of the liberal left). So they now get a 1 star review because instead of opening their eyes and realizing that they made a mistake, they do further damage by harrassing me on Facebook messenger. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THESE LIBERAL WACKJOBS!!! The most unprofessional thing I have ever experienced.
I was completely new to Sissy’s and was actually persuaded by my mother to eat here due to her high regards of the food and price. I can firmly say that because of my experience here, I will never eat at this cafe again. First to start because of my diet as asked for something not to be on my plate due to a gluten allergy. Considering that I was asking for an exclusion of food and not adding something or replacing it I thought there would be no extra cost. To my surprise after receiving the bill I had been charged extra for not wanting the wrap on my plate for the tuna salad dish. Even after calmly talking to the blue haired cashier who refused to give her name she said we had made an enhancement to our meal and were being charged more because that’s what the owner wants. After continuing to review the situation she began to laugh at us and include her friends at the surrounding bar into the current conversation which did not concern them. I’ve never been more outraged with the lack of professionalism at this place and the way I was treated. Repulsive!
The food was pretty good but I got an allergic reaction to my smoothie and couldn't drink it because the strawberries weren't organic and I reacted whatever pesticides they are grown with, and the staff wanted to charge me for another smoothie saying it was my fault, that I should have known to ask. I had just spent $30 on lunch. They may have saved a couple dollars right there but they lost a customer.
Not local, for arrogant wealthy city people. We are locals and used to appreciate this place for our weekend breakfast - it has great food - but lately the waitresses (except all but one or two of them) are extremely rude, callous, and arrogant. I had the weird experience of going in to break change for the meter while we were eating, and when I got to the register the girl gave me a look of complete disgust, hating me for some reason without knowing me in any capacity. Afterwards, the girl with the blue hair laughed off my wife's gluten-free upcharge for an absence of a wrap and then included the other guests at the counter to join in and laugh at her. We will not be returning, this place is a sellout for the city people's money.
AITA? I am currently disabled and I went to this cafe because UTC was closed and it had a 4.7 star rating. I got there before 11 am and picked a small table in the back plugged my laptop on the many outlets around the wall and ordered a small hot coffee being they don’t have espresso. I was working on homework and drinking my coffee. A little after noon on a rainy Sunday afternoon I bought large coffee being I was going to stay a bit longer. The counter even gave me a 2$ instead of 3$ coffee charge. No one seemed bothered that I was enjoying my coffee and working on hw. A little after 1pm abruptly a lady comes to be and says someone needs a table. I hadn’t finish the large second coffee I most recently paid for. The responds was this isn’t “that type of cafe” “you can’t do work here” “there are other cafes you can do work at”. I honestly didn’t know they are “not that type of cafe” because I was and still and understanding what that means. AITA? I went to Kitchen and bar traumatized I overstayed my welcome at a cafe. Recommendation: at my second purchase of coffee maybe gently give me a reminder that I have a time limit of… Instead of abputptly having my chug my coffee and gather myself as a disabled person into the rain 🌧️ Or mark the warning on the outlets all over the wall And avoid “you cannot work here” terminology you might be a company this is still a free country
Sisys has amazing food, unfortunately the server we dealt with was rude. Their register system they use pretty much forces you to make a tip after processing payment which I think is extremely unprofessional. When I asked the server how not to make a tip she responded rudely. I’m not tipping if I’m not getting served by a waitress or waiter.
I was really excited when I saw there were vegan options, but this was a disappointing experience. First, the person at the counter told me they ran out of carrots for my vegan wrap, so I told them to just add any other veggies they had. They not only didn’t sub any vegetables, but they left out cabbage which was supposed to be part of the sandwich. They also skimped on all the other ingredients. There was supposed to be avocado and a tahini dressing. It looked like they just smeared teaspoon of avocado on the wrap and if there was tahini dressing, I could not taste it. And wrap itself surprisingly small, about the size and thickness of wallet you’d put in your back pocket. To top it all off the person at the counter kept calling me “honey” and a person who seemed to be the owner or manager called me “babe” when I asked them to add the cabbage to my wrap, eww. On a more positive note, my friend got a Reuben which she said was pretty good, so perhaps their meat options are better. Overall, I spent $30 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks, and walked away feeling disappointed, annoyed, and hungry. Not good.
Not for locals anymore! Use to eat here until today. My partner was treated very rudely by our waitress (with blond hair). Then we were charged extra for not getting a wrap and when I addressed this with the waitress (after receiving my bill) she said it was a modification and they charge more. Though I've ordered the same meal and have never been up charged. I asked for a manager and was handed over to the girl with the blue hair who said the same thing to me. I asked "how does not getting a wrap cause a modification, I'm just getting less food? She said shes doing what shes told while laughing at me including her friends into our conversation who were sitting at the counter. These waitresses refused to give their names. Very juvenile and ridiculous to be treated so.
