The Tortila Kingston Reviews
The eggplant torta really surprised me. It was excellent! That and a margarita made a lovely late dinner. The service is friendly and outdoor seating is great when the weather is good. Indoors, decor could use a little something more but overall I'd recommend the place
Super delicious, authentic Mexican food! The tortillas were soft, juicy, and flavorful. Get the horchata if it's on the menu when you come.
Dropped in for lunch and had a wonderful assortment of items and drinks. Tasty food, great variety, and well priced for the portion size.
This is our favorite Mexican spot in the area! The food is delicious and staff is always super friendly. The portions of food are very fair, and in the nice weather the outside seating is great. Our favorite dishes include the quesadillas, chips and salsa, tacos, burritos, and vampiros.
Got a drink and ordered takeout yesterday. Food was great even after a 25 minute drive. You never know what you’re going to get when you go places these days but I had the pleasure of watching a grown man crash out over tacos. Came inside shouting and stomping around, truly disrespecting his surroundings. He threatened the individuals as well as the longevity of the establishment over his experience in that moment, being a hungry hungry little man. The server handled it really well and explained she simply made a mistake that caused a small delay and not a second later did their food come out. Definitely check this place out if you know how to act in public, because they’re really nice and make great food.
Great spot!!! Food and drinks were delicious can’t go wrong! The fish tacos were so good! Especially the mango one!! The birria tacos were also very good. Could have used a little more flavor. But overall tasty. The drinks were really good too. Especially the mezcalita! Please stop by! Service was great!
Great restaurant. Very delicious and tasty food and drinks. We happened to be the only customers at the time, the staff was really friendly and food came out quick. We got chips and guacamole, carne asada burrito, chicken quesadilla, 4 tacos, and 3 different drinks. Bill came to $90 before tip. I love the decorations and the prices were great. Only complaint was the bathroom was a little meh. Overall though I highly recommend!
The Tortilla Taco Bar truly surprised us and heartily exceeded our expectations. The food here is phenomenal! And, our drinks were great - and strong - too. The Birria Tacos in particular were, legit, the best I've ever had. If you're in Kingston, go here! (Pictured are the strawberry-filled churros and "ensalada" - amazing!)
Stopped into this lovely Mexican restaurant with my fiance after kayaking and did not leave disappointed. The carne asada fries are a MUST-GET! Perfectly topped with guacamole, queso, cheese and chopped veggies, you can't help but devour them. A little sour cream is served on the side. We also enjoyed the pork taco on a corn tortilla, chicken torta and rice and beans. The margaritas are also excellent. Very pleased with the food here and service. A small bonus but not to be understated was the music. Great speaker system!
Very very authentic taste and quality! This is worth going and trying one of everything! I really loved the steak, the flavor was perfect! We enjoyed our selves with large portions that have you wanting to eat it all! The guacamole was so fresh and flavorful too! Seating is mainly outside with no reservations so all first come first serve. I will return!
Lovely new spot in the historic waterfront area of Kingston, NY. They’d planned to open last spring but COVID delayed their launch until summer; they’re preparing delicious burritos, tacos, tortas, quesadillas, vampiros, rice bowls and elote street corn. Having just read about the ‘birria boom’ in the NY Times earlier this month, I was thrilled to try their birria quesatacos (see their IG post below) - absolutely delicious with a very tasty broth to dip with & drink. They’d originally only made it on weekends, but it’s proven so popular that they have it on the specials menu daily now. The owner also knows his way around some excellent mezcal from Oaxaca in Mexico (see their IG post below), and offers flights to sip with the traditional orange slice and Tajin chile & lime seasoning... he also makes a mean house margarita as well. Delicious new spot, and great people. Will definitely be back! Oh yeah, note they don’t actually deliver, so reviews talking about delivery aren’t being fair. You can however pick up take-away (with cocktails) or eat in.
Everything we ordered was really tasty, and serving sizes were fair. We sat outside and the weather and vibes were great. Only downside is that the meals are very expensive, so be prepared to spend at least $20 per person before adding appetizers or drinks. Got lunch with my girlfriend and after everything was said and done we spent $90. If you are visiting and looking for a nice spot to eat lunch, I would check this location out.
While this was a great location with other fun places to visit nearby, I wouldn't go again. The Mexican street corn looked yummy, but both orders were semi cold. The other food was pretty good. They did get my request for mo onions correct. The salsa was so hot that it was like pure extra hot Tabasco sauce. Not much in terms of service but that could have been because they were busy. Minimal helpfulness.
The guac and chips are a must - a great snack for the group. The guac had a nice zest, some of the best I’ve had. I got a strawberry margarita and the mango shrimp taco and al pastor taco - all reallyy good. Our group of 11 pushed some tables together - the biggest table they have seats 4, so we were glad they could accommodate . The interior design feels a bit bare but has a cohesive theme. Service was not the best - we had to ask for some waters and grabbed the pitchers ourselves. Otherwise though, the food and drinks were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food
We decided to stop by and have lunch here as it was recommended by a friend. Staff are very pleasant. I understand that on the strand restaurants come and go and it’s costly to make the interior look nice. It’s not that in inviting and doesn’t remind me of a Mexican restaurant. So we ordered drinks and that’s a very limited menu for non-alcoholic and a basket of chips. The chips were really good. Personally I ordered the Birria taco. It came out piping hot and very delicious. I was not a fan of the rice and beans as the rice in my opinion was overcooked. I also tried the surf and turf burrito and was not a fan of it. The other two in my group decided to have a chicken quesadilla which they reported was very delicious. I would return to the spot to maybe have drinks out on their patio area, but it was raining out when I went so obviously not going to sit outside and enjoy the day.
