Java Earth Coffee La Jolla Reviews
★★★★★ Stopped by Java Earth Coffee on a Friday morning around 7:00 AM and it was the perfect way to start the day. No line, no long wait — just easy ordering and quick service. Always a win, especially before the morning rush. I had the cold brew and my other half ordered a hot americano. Both were exactly what you’d expect — smooth, bold, and well-balanced. Nothing overcomplicated, just solid, quality coffee done right. For food, I ordered the breakfast bagel sandwich with eggs, breakfast sausage, cheese, and avocado. First thing you notice? It’s huge. For $14, the value is honestly impressive, especially considering you’re in La Jolla. It was filling, flavorful, and packed properly — not skimpy on ingredients. My other half had the bagel and lox, and again, the portion and quality matched the price. Fresh, satisfying, and worth it. The surrounding area adds to the experience — very quaint, calm, ocean breeze vibes. It’s one of those spots where you can grab your coffee, take a short walk, and just enjoy the morning. No issues at all. Great coffee, generous portions, fair pricing (especially for the location), and a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back.
This small, cute coffee shop has super friendly and welcoming staff. The guy at the counter who took my order was really nice. My latte was great. It was rich, smooth, and perfect. Loved my experience and will definitely be back next time I'm in La Jolla.
SIZE MATTERS when it comes to breakfast sandwiches!! These breakfast sandwiches, burritos and bowls are great portion sizes and I appreciate that very much. I’m a yoga teacher and fitness instructor in La Jolla and have a nice appetite, especially after classes or working out. I’m not vegan or vegetarian. On some days I teach 2 classes in the morning (other days I may teach 3 classes back to back) and I need a healthy and big breakfast to keep me fulled. I’ve had several breakfast sandwiches around the area and very few places compare to Java’s portions AND taste! My body is also sensitive to additives, preservatives or junk ingredients and I break out if I have something that isn’t “clean”. I’ll know right away and I’ve never had a problem here. My body appreciates it! Their smoothies are also one of my favorites!! The “Get your sculpt on smoothie” is not on the menu ( I think it was seasonal) but that was my staple for a long time. I still ask for it and they make it for me! It’s made with chaga mushrooms and I love the health benefits of that as well. They also have a warm chaga latte that I love when it gets chilly. My new favorite smoothie is the “Chunky Monkey” I add protein to it and it’s my new favorite! I do go to other spots in the area but always come back to Java because, again, I haven’t found portion sizes, taste, healthy and friendly service, quite like them. Their staff are always friendly, they have a lot of regulars and on slower times, they ask about you and remember when they see you next! I appreciate that as well. Connections and customer service is always important to me as it add that type of energy to the food and over all experience. Thank you Java!
My sister came along with me to San Diego for work from Irvine, and I give her the credit for finding this place. WOW! This place blew me away. Our order: 🍵 two 20 oz matcha lattes - 10/10 thank you so much for putting the right amount of ice - not too much!! Our matcha lattes did not feel diluted at all. The additional $0.50 we paid for the extra 4 oz was well worth it. 🥣 Mediterranean bowl - 10/10, what a delicious combination of ingredients! I want to make this at home as a pick me up. It reminded me of the best parts of pesto pasta but without any pasta! 🌯 Soy Chorizo burrito - 10/10 we were told that the so Cal burrito is also a popular menu item. The personal preference of our cashier was the soy chorizo burrito and it did not fail!! The two are essentially the same except the type of meat (for the most part, so we’re told hahaha) What drew us to this place has been the featuring of Parutea’s matcha. The matcha quality truly is amazing. It’s delicious. The plating was crisp and clean - everything about the restaurant was seamlessly put together. It was a haven for good food and a way to start the morning peacefully! There’s a good number of people trickling in as soon as the restaurant opened. The people here are kind, present, and respectful. I’m so grateful for you all. They offer milk alternatives including pistachio milk! The food is cooked to just the right temperature where the flavors stand out because of the temperature at which the food is presented. Next time - I can’t wait to try the pastries 😋 God bless you all!
I found out their match is from Paru on insta and double checked with the barista. Very good quality Matcha and their banana cream on top really impressed me. Definitely need to go back for its Matcha!
I am addicted to the classic breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. Lovely ambiance. Both locations are great!
The service and attention were good, and the products are really worth it. I live in Los Angeles, and I will definitely visit them again when I return to San Diego.
I’ve heard about this place and this was my first time going. I really wish I would age came earlier, it is so good! Both of us tried the SoCal burrito which was phenomenal. Really enjoy their salsa as well!
Good was great, perfectly prepated. Pistachio latte was phenomenal, the Chunky Monkey smoothie was a little thinner than expected, but still very tasty!!Ruben was very nice, service is great!
Best Loz bagels in La Jolla!! Also the pesto on the side is amazing!! Worth it if you go to La Jolla!!
Very light space, great service Had the pistachio latte, wonderful subtle flavor. Good spot for La Jolla!

Incredible food and coffee!!! Lots of outdoor seating and amazing breakfast food and drinks
The coffee is excellent here. This is my sister's favorite coffee place in San Diego.
I love this place… The outdoor seating the great staff and the owners make it one of my favorite places to grab a cup of coffee in La Jolla. The banana bread is so delicious! You gotta try it.
I love this place!! Amazing service, food, and atmosphere! I tried all my friends’ food and drinks, and everything was phenomenal—especially the banana matcha! Also, my friends accidentally threw away half of my sandwich, and the staff kindly made me an entirely new one on the house. So thoughtful of them!
Sweet smiley barista Brooke was a joy. The delicious coffee and burrito were the cherry on top. Got the so cal burrito with sausage and avocado and a dirty chai. I will never order anything else, I’m sure it’s all good but I am addicted to this order.
Had a great breakfast at Java Earth! Highly recommend the blueberry pop tart and bagel with smoked salmon.

After living in Japan for three years I had been convinced that I would never taste good matcha ever again coming back to the States. This little coffeeshop has matcha that is on par with the cafés in Japan. Definitely check them out when you're in San Diego to get a taste of Japan in a surfer town.
Visited this cute spot yesterday and we will be back. The honey vanilla latte was so tasty!!!! I wish I had a picture of my acai bowl, but I devoured it as soon as it hit the table. You won't regret checking this cozy spot.
Very chill laid back coffee spot in La Jolla. The coffee is more focused on lattes and mixed coffees. I got a daily brew and it wasn’t half bad. She got the brown sugar cinnamon coffee and it was very nice. Overall not my typical kind of coffee spot but the staff was very friendly and it was very clean which bumps it up for me. La Jolla is a good coffee desert so this place was a nice change.

The açai bowl was good but coffee is not good here. I’m a bit of a coffee snob and expect good coffee when going to a coffee shop. My wife and I ordered the cappuccino and a iced decaf latte- it tasted bitter and burnt - a sign that the barista does not know how to prepare coffee properly. Either too much heat or too fine a grind - but something was off. I couldn’t finish the coffee because it was so bad. I make better coffee at home. The location is good and it’s aesthetically pleasing hence The 3 stars and not any less. If you are serious about coffee I would recommend somewhere else. Açai bowl was Good though.

Saw they use Paru matcha so decided to give this place a try. Barista was super nice so giving two stars instead of one. Unfortunately, this was such weak matcha it tasted like pure milk and I was so disappointed. Please save your money and go to Starbucks—I guarantee that one is stronger.
