Johnny Bs La Mesa Reviews
Holly cow the had Peanut butter bacon cheese burger sliders!!! Bingo. What a great treat. They really need to offer it in a full size burger. We had our first in New Orleans. If you have not had this you need to try it. Give it a shot. You will not believe how good this is.
Good old fashioned burger vibes yet family friendly. It's a local favorite and the good service feels familiar with how they take care of their customers
Cool sports bar and grill at the end of downtown La Mesa. I came here a couple of times just for drinks, but decided to grab a late dinner here. Hickory bacon burger was delicious and tasted great. Cocktails are also curated to a good portion and tasted great. Manu TVs and not a bad seat in the house for any and all party sizes. Definitely worth the visit and the cost of a burger and a couple of drinks was pretty reasonable too. Will be coming back!
Been going to Johnny Bs forever had the Wedge Salads for the first time. It was amazing. All the food there is great. The waitresses are amazing and very helpful. Great place to watch sports. And the prices are very reasonable.
Absolutely love this place, normally come in and get the burgers. But happen to pop in on wing Wednesday, let me tell you they brought the A game! These wings are super meaty, we've had the lemon pepper, the naked wings, and the buffalo wings, all of which were absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other flavors along with the famous wedge salad.
Parking is only a few spaces. They have plenty of space (booths and tables) inside and a counter space with dog bowls and heaters. Basic options for kiddos where I think it would please most. Jennifer was absolutely lovely. She did not hover but did not ignore us either. They have plenty of good options and the food is delicious.
Our first time eating brunch here after church. The staff is very friendly. The garlic Parmesan wings and Chicken w/ waffles were our favorites. The price is reasonable. Just hope the food would come out a little bit faster considering it wasn't packed yet. Definitely a good restaurant to visit in the La Mesa area.
My father owned J.Camp antiques, where Johnny B's is at now. Was so nice coming back after 30 years to be able to enjoy the memories of growing up. The food was delicious, very friendly staff, few old photos of the bldg when it was a post office. Was also really cool walking out seeing all the old classics parked on the street.
Our server was great, friendly and attentive. We had an issue with a beer and they resolved it with no stress. Food came out hot, fresh and delicious. In the main area they have an open kitchen so you can see(and smell!) all the delicious food they are creating. The second eating room is larger but it was really loud in there with people laughing and having a good time. I highly suggest the Patty Melt and the Spicy Pepper jack Burger.
My wife and I visited from Texas, and the atmosphere is the perfect mix of bar/grill the options were not overwhelming and the food was right on point! The staff was so helpful and great to be around, everyone had such a fun attitude and had smiles not only when serving us but also when they were away from our table. A++
It was a little odd that food was served as they made it instead of serving us all at once...but the food was fresh and hot. It wasn't a fancy place more of a bar/burger joint but the burgers were made to order and good. My son got the last 2 sloppy joe sliders and he thought they were delicious.
I liked the food. The staff seemed a little harried, but it was a weekend. Most of the waitstaff was very nice and friendly. Seating is tight, tables small, so they kind of take your food away in order to make room for plates, drinks, and whatnot. We ordered the burger of the month, BBQ bacon, and a royal, a classic double, we both liked our burgers. I didn't love the apple pie pot stickers, there was a strange taste and the wrapper was a little too tough. The space is cute and they have the pee-wee Herman bike hanging from the ceiling, epic. The buffalo chicken fries were really yummy, highlight of the evening
Good burgers french fries and onion rings here at Johnny B's Burgers I got the hickory BBQ bacon burger and the 50/50 French fries and onion rings the hickory BBQ burger was good the French fries were really good the onion rings were good but probably cooked a little to long the service was good and the parking sucks street parking is paid you can go up a couple blocks to get free parking
Stopped in here after we walked the La Mesa farmers market. Walked through the restaurant in order to get to the back patio. We order the steak sandwich, since it came with salad and fries. The other was the Jalapeno burger. Both were good. The Moscow mule and old fashioned were both great and had a wonderful booze kick.
Kids liked their burgers the chicken tenders were good. But we ate the appetizers on a napkin on the table as no plates came. My "steak sandwich" was terrible. I had a bite and my daughter tried it and that was it. Plain piece of steak with no flavor or seasoning on a thin piece of sourdough toast. The side salad came plain with a few brown pieces of lettuce and fries were fine.
About 7:00 on Tuesday night we were hankering for a burger. About 6 customers, told us to sit anywhere. And then, nothing. Not even a nod for a solid 15 min. Made me feel like chopped liver😠And so, we left. Plenty of restaurants in La Mesa! Jeeze….
I went to this restaurant Monday around 3pm based on a recommendation, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. When I arrived, no one greeted me, and I had to wait while the servers chatted before acknowledging me. I was told I could sit anywhere, and after choosing a spot, a waitress dropped off the menu but wasn’t very friendly. When I mentioned it was my first time, she basically said, “Everything tastes good. It’s up to you.” 20 minutes went by, she never returned. I guess she left for the day and didn't tell anyone that she seated me. Finally, the bartender noticed me and was very sweet and apologetic, trying to take my order. By that time, I had already decided to leave. The poor service left a bad impression, so I went to Dukes instead, and their burgers were incredible! I don’t recommend Johnny B’s based on my experience. If you’re looking for a great burger with friendly service, Dukes down the street is a much better choice. Photo is from Dukes!
