Marieta's La Mesa Reviews
Mani was my young handsome bus boy and he cleaned my table so very well and there was excellent food as well and yeah shout out to Mani because he really makes the service better. He’s such a good beautiful bus boy.
This is our family favorite restaurant. The menu is huge so there are lots of options. My favorite is the enchiladas with green sauce! So good! We visit a few times a month because the staff is just the best! They have been serving our family for many years. About 35 years!
GREAT food, the staff is so kind and seem to love what they do and the atmosphere was great! This place is now on my go to list!
Have a fiesta! Marieta's is a fun Mexican restaurant. Cold AC and several big screens for sports. Food is authentic and a great value. 10/10
After avoiding this restaurant for many years, due to poor service, we gave them another try. The same tasty food and the restaurant looks mostly the same inside. What has improved drastically is the service. Our server, Fernanda, attended to us promptly, with a smile and a greeting. Our meals were delivered quickly and she checked on us several times, making sure all was well. The bus person was just ad good. Marieta's is back on our list!
First time eating here after passing by it manytimes. They bring chips and salsa ( i prefer a picadillo type) its hot but lacks salt (for me) I ordered the carna asada steak ruce and beans combo for $21 the steak was cooked to order and taste good. It was chewy or undercooked like some places. The rice and beans had a home made taste and they serve food sized portions. I also had the bacon wrapped shrimp. These were tasty but a bit dry and overcooked in the oven. I had a margarita which i felt was a watered down slushy. And lacked flavor which i kinda of expected since this isnt a typical bar but they should blend and add nore flavor as after 5min its pretty much a watered down drink with minimal Alcohol. My party also ordered the barbeque chicken which i think was baked and rubbed with adobo rub and it was a 5 out of 10 i wouldnt reorder. The cheese enchilada and other plates were good. Server was prompt and friendly overall a good restuarant and staff was nice. They have 1 stall each for men and women restroom. There is a bar inside if you want to watch a game id give it an 8 out of 10. The parking can be a challenge as they only can accommadate about 7 cars unless you park on the street.
I have a special diet so it's hard for me to find anything to eat and they still cooked it in butter. Otherwise I've been coming here for years and they always have great service it's wonderful environment and if you don't mind having lots of cheese and dairy it's for you.
Trying this location again for lunch! Our waiter was terrific, super quick with drinks and refills, very pleasant, frequent check-ins. Always an inviting place, nice cultural decor, many seating area options, full bars, good musiand not too loud so you can talk. Food was ready fairly quick, nice portions for the Arroz Con Pollo and a lunch size Chile Colorado Burrito; both were tasty, slightly different from the Santee recipe (our go to Marieta's) but still good and filling. Plus, they have 2 parking lots to choose from.
Strong margaritas and food was good. Attentive and fast service and decent prices. Don't come here for the chips and salsa though. I tried both red and green and both Too watery. Rice and beans were average but taquitos came with tons of guacamole and sour cream and kids meal of burger and fries was tasty (Curly fries served).
food was great. The service was very poor had asked for water try twice and never got any extra napkins.
Kick-back place with friendly service offering good Mexican comfort food with large portions. The chicken rancheros was tasty with tender chicken and vegetables in a red sauce served with rice, beans, and tortillas. There are several dining areas that can accommodate large parties/ families and as well as a bar. The atmosphere is very comfortable and homey. I would definitely come back.
Good yet typical Mexican food restaurant, and the food is fine but expensive. Many of the menu items are $20, like the chicken mole plate. Chips and salsa that are refilled, and good yet again, typical and not any better than would be expected. Nice if you’re looking for a traditional dining experience.
In the past, I’ve ordered camarones al mojo de ajo and it came with beans and tortillas. Now the $30 CAMDA plate comes with 5 shrimp with the poop veins still very much intact, canned corn, wilted lettuce and rice. Super glad I wasn’t the one paying because I’d feel victimized and violated paying $30 for whatever you want to call this. Also theres a guy who yells loudly while playing guitar the whole time you eat. Some may find it quaint, i found it painful
Was disappointed. The restaurant was almost empty and the service was slow. Asked for a straw and the server never came back with one. I had to go to the bar to get it. The food was good until I noticed the guacamole was turning black. I had already ate some. Yikes! Parking is not good as well. The bathrooms we're dirty and smelled bad. The restaurant is old and worn out. We won't return to this restaurant.
Wish I can give the service a 0. My family and I were excited to eat here because of the reviews we have read. But as soon as we were sat down by the hostess at our table she said that she ran out of menus and will bring us some as soon as she’s gets some which we understood. 10 mins go by and one of the waiter comes by asking what we would like to drink but my husband had told him we have not received menus then the waiter says “did you guys just seat yourselves then” as he walked away from our table to bring us menus. Another 10 mins pass when he comes back to ask what we would like to drink and we had ordered our food as well. 20 mins have passed by when we were still waiting our little one was starting to get fussy since it had been a total of 40 mins. My family and I had decided to just take it to go since our little one was getting fussy. As soon as we notified our waiter about it he said when the food arrives he would bring us boxes to pack it ourselves. I decided to go outside with my little one to wait. 30+ mins have passed by when my husband had finally got our food and told the waiter whom brought it if he can bring the boxes then he told my husband why didn’t he tell them before he brought the food out and my husband said he did to the other waiter about it and the waiter said he would bring the boxes. The service was horrible and waiters were so rude.
Worse mexican food I've had. The quesadilla was loaded with so much cheese, felt like a slice of pizza. Margarita tasted like syrup. Poor customer service. This place is joke! You're better off in a taco shop in the hood!
Eaten here many times over several years, both with family, friends and our office. Last night I had my usual chili relleno. My first bite I thought the order was wrong. It tasted nothing like one. I picked through the extra thick pile of batter and found a small amount of cheese and 1 skin of a chili! It was gross. The waiter did not come back to check on food. My boss wanted me to just order something additional and said not to worry that is was gross and would have to be paid for. No thanks! We agreed that we will now always go to a different Mexican restaurant. It's not cheap for that kind of junk to be served. Oh.....the beans were good.
Never again. Taco Bell has more flavor. The only people that enjoyed their meal were my grandparents and the toddler which should say all you need to know. How do you screw up margaritas? The fajitas were terrible with no seasoning, not much on the skillet, and looked awful. Considering how much they charge for the queso fundido, you’d think it would be more than a thin layer on a plate. The carrots were good but they have us 1 small side dish that didn’t have enough pieces in it for each person in our party. They were going to sandwich at a terrible table when we were a large party with our back against a door and another with their back against a booth but we asked to move. The guy that started to serve us had a bad attitude. The only thing that saved the meal was how the female server that stepped up to serve, clear plates, etc tried to do what she could. The decor is vibrant to mask how awful everything else is.
I gave this place one star because the service was so unbelievably poor. My family came out to this establishment based on a past Marieta’s experience in their Oceanside location with similar expectations! The server constantly ignored our table, neglected refills, and had poor customer service skills. In addition to that, the restrooms were poorly maintained with overflowing trash and a terrible smell. When we tried to share our Oceanside experience with a server, his comment was “this is not Oceanside”. The food was good so if your interested in checking this location out, I would recommend take out but definitely not dine in!!
Disgusting experience. Waiter dipped out halfway through after leaving us a monstrosity of a shrimp taco. No rancho, no seasoning, no cilantro? Browning cabbage on the side, with the soggy butt of a tomato. This was a shrimp was a shrimp PASTA taco. My sister had a veggie burrito, it was so soggy she couldn't even pick up to eat! We ordered a guacamole bowl to share, which never came, but was still added to the check. They left us waiting over 20 minutes after bringing the check, so we had to go up to the front to get the added bowl removed. Instead of removing the extra charge so we could just GET OUT OF THERE AND THIS EXPERIENCE, to they send over a completely different waiter than the one we originally had, just to have to tell him the same thing, WE DIDN'T GET WHAT WE ORDERED. TAKE IT OFF SO WE CAN GO. They again leave us waiting another 10 minutes. We had to go up front and see the manager to get this corrected. Really disappointed in how far Marietta's has fallen. Every location is not worth the time anymore. Complete waste of time, and money.
