Monument Inn La Porte Reviews
What a great place.. Food was amazing service was great. View was great too. First time here and will be back. Cinnamon rolls omg delicious 😋 We moved tables and Dylan was our server he did such a great job. Food was on time, we actually was able to get Cinnamon rolls to go too. Shocker.. Was told they go fast. I believe that... Thank you for a great visit 😊
I’ve lived in Houston area for 25 years.. how have I never heard of this place. Well I’m glad I finally made it here. You take the Independence Parkway to the very end right by the Lynchberg Ferry landing. The restaurant is upstairs and has great views of the ship traffic coming in and out. The inside is very clean and decorated nice. Grab a booth by a window if you can. Our waitress was wonderful she was very attentive and offered help with the menu with it being our first visit. I ordered the redfish and my wife got the stuffed shrimp. We got salads with ranch and cinnamon rolls and bread too. Everything was good my wife really enjoyed hers, my redfish was a little dry but tasted good. The bread and rolls were hot out of the oven. We really enjoyed sitting a little while and watching the ships pass in and out of the channel. The dining room was not packed but very busy with a constant flow of new customers. It seems they could handle pretty large groups as we saw them setting up a few 14-20 top tables. All in all this was a great find and we would love to come back, maybe even bringing some family with us.
Monument Inn has been and will always be the best seafood spot in the greater Houston area. Dylan is a beast of a waiter for my 9 guys for our company party. And the bartender with the long hair (male) is also great. The experience here has been excellent all my life and I'm 45. Just buy your table the all you can eat, sit back, enjoy the drinks and scenery. If you don't already know about this place... you aren't from the H
When to celebrate a birthday. As always the food was exceptional and the service was amazing. I have no complaints
We've been stopping by when we are in the area for many years. It is a quality restaurant- the food, the staff, the dining room. We are never disappointed. They serve fresh baked rolls and cinnamon rolls to accompany your meal. The Bleu cheese and ranch dressings are made in house. All of the seafood is outstanding. The atmosphere is always lively.
I’ve eaten here many times over the years. It’s always wonderful! And I’ve attended events in the banquet rooms that were always great. What I didn’t know until tonight was how easy Monument Inn makes it for you when you plan an event in a banquet room. The room was lightly decorated and set up so nicely. The service was top notch from start to finish, and the food was timely and delicious as always! I’m already looking for another reason to host an event there. Thank you for making our company party memorable and perfect!!!
I started going to this restaurant about 30 years ago. I always enjoy visiting and eating good food and watching the ships go by along the Houston Ship Channel. I've eaten different items on their menu over the years, and I've always had a very good meal. Lately, my favorite has been Broiled Crab Cakes.
Great experience. I joined my brother's dining group for lunch. Absolutely worth the drive. Our server was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu, suggesting great options. We shared 5 appetizers. But the hot cinnamon rolls simply won me over. I ordered some additional to take home. And I'm not a seafood lover, but they have plenty of options for those who are not. Most of the group order one of the choices of seafood platters. They allow you to customize them to your liking. Overall, the experience was incredibly awesome.
This is a little hole in the wall place near the ferry that I have seen but never had the time to stop by until today. Boy was I missing out. This place has amazing food for anyone to like. The staff was friendly. No waiting and great atmosphere. I should have walk into the place years ago. Thank you.
I can't believe I've never been to this hidden gem in beautiful La Porte, TX. The food was amazing, the staff was truly helpful, friendly, and attentive. The coastal view was the cherry on top. This place is worth the drive, or the hop, skip, and a ferry ride or however you choose to arrive. May I also recommend to check out the nearby San Jacinto Monument and enjoy some Texas history on your visit.
First time at the Monument Inn. I was not a fan of the breading on the fried shrimp. Personal preference...shrimp were good. Service was amazing even with the trainee in tow. Calamari breading was more to my liking. Bread a cinnamon rolls were included and outstanding. Scenery outside of the ship channel and San Jacinto Monument Park was delightful.
Seafood menu offers good selection. Great lunch meal, but my preference would be for less butter. Had the grilled Samon. Many guests were seated just past Saturday opening time. Our table had a great view of the harbor where we saw tugboats pushing huge tanker ships and more. Great atmosphere with large windows facing the bay. Free ferry takes folks from Lynchberg to park where Monument Inn is located. Would eat there again.
I usually get my food to go but today decided to eat here. The salmon is cooked just like I like, medium. Not dried out, not too raw. The steamed vegetables are very good too. And the rolls and cinnamon roll, whew. To start off i had a lemon drop martini that was veeerrry good! Waiter is attentive and pleasant. Got my order right!
We were extremely pleased with the Monument Inn! A bustling, friendly & welcoming establishment considering it is in a public park! The service was fantastic and our server was very attentive and charming. The food was great all the way around! Not one bad item of the many that we ordered!! You also won’t find better food at this price! Highly recommended!! 👍
Great family atmosphere and delicious food. The seafood platter is my favorite along with the stuffed jalapeños for an appetizer. The service and hospitality is always great. They make you want to keep coming back, which I will. Just celebrated my wife's birthday here....love this place!!!
My first visit to the Monument Inn in more than 15 years was a pleasant surprise. You never know what the passage of time will do to the quality and the ambience of a restaurant like this. However, I was not disappointed. First, the drive up to the Monument Inn, you pass through a very historic park, honoring the history of Texas. Then as you approach the restaurant, you can’t help but notice it’s right on the water as Ship traffic passes back-and-forth. Now you’re in a great mood for a good meal. Patrons are directed upstairs, where the many are provided a wonderful view of the water. From there it’s pure goodness. The appetizers with stuffed crab, shrimp, oysters, alligator and more were delicious. The famous cinnamon rolls seem to have grown larger over time , but just as delicious. The main entrée was again a whole assortment of essentially fried seafood was hot fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable. I can’t say a negative thing about the entire experience.
I had the stuffed crab at Monument Inn, and it was absolutely amazing! The crab was perfectly seasoned, generously portioned, and had that fresh-off-the-boat taste that’s hard to find. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive. One tip: make sure to sit by the window if you can—the view of the water and the ferry coming in and out is such a great touch and really adds to the overall experience. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try!

So good to be back. Shrimp Jamboree is my fave. Reasonable prices. Friendly, efficient staff. You might want to go at mid-day to avoid the crowds .
A "must visit" seafood restaurant. Excellent menu selection. Excellent service. Be sure to ask for a booth near the window (a wait is well worth it). I ordered the Mahi-Mahi with Montumental sauce, my wife order the Redfish with a side of onion rings. We really enjoyed ourself and the drive was worth it! So do yourself a favor, make the drive, don't be in a hurry, and enjoy the ships, barges, and tugboats cruising by!!!

Remains a good restaurant. Has been for years and they still get it done. If you want seafood in the area that is a good choice. Watch the ship channel traffic and have dinner. Prices average.

Monument Inn: Where Ships Sail and Cinnamon Rolls Reign Supreme
When you're looking for a dining experience that's as much about the view as it is about the plate, Monument Inn in La Porte is a perennial favorite. For decades, this spot has been drawing folks in, some regulars for thirty years or more, and it’s easy to see why. There’s a comforting familiarity about the place, a feeling of stepping back into a cherished memory, even for first-time visitors. The real showstopper here, beyond the delicious food, is the panoramic view of the Houston Ship Chan...
La Porte's Waterfront Gem: Monument Inn
You know, sometimes you just crave that classic Gulf Coast experience, and for me, that means a trip out to La Porte for Monument Inn. It’s one of those places that feels like it’s been there forever, a true local landmark, and for good reason. The first thing that hits you when you walk in, especially if you snag a window seat, is that incredible view. Seriously, watching the ships glide by on the channel while you eat? It’s mesmerizing. I've heard folks say they could sit there all afternoon
