Update: Second time here and can't believe it took me almost a year to come back. Great taco Tuesday deals (check my pictures for $ and tacos packed with meat), daily specials, great service. Called & they had food ready by the time I was there. Very friendly. A little stingy on the salsas since I also got a torta & they didn't add any. The next day when I went for tacos I had to be specific & get it on the side. I think maybe because they also sell it? I just read that that's what happened last time I went too but still great tasting food. Definitely not going to wait so long to come back! Original post: Fast friendly service. Ordered to go. Food was ready. Check sauces before you leave. No chips or sauces in bag unlike most restaurants in that block. Great tasting food.
Good food, great service.
My review is on the meat market in the back. That's the real hidden gem. Always fresh and delicious and fine cuts of meat. Far, far better than Northgate and other grocery stores. High quality is what I see and the butcher is very helpful and friendly. Thank you Imperial for offering this.
I was born and raised around corner..I would pass this place hundreds of times and never bother going in..well I was really surprised of this place...the food in this place was really good...the service was also very good..and the selections of alcoholic beverages, beers, wine and soft drinks was superb...also has a mini market..with many choices of fruits, vegetables, and Mexican specialities..this place is definitely worth a visit..
Go here all the time during work lunch. The staff is the same for years. The prices of specials, especially taco Tuesday, are ridiculously low but the food is great. My favorites are guac, tacos, and their tortas. Service is great.
The food is excellent and very affordable!! Me and my family love coming here!
Hole in the wall market with a restaurant. I tried the asada sopes and was surprised at how good they were.
Love this place would always come here with my grandma Irene and her sisters and our cousins from placenta. So yummy and a warm feeling. The food is delish and tastes just like my grams would make.
Favorite home town restaurant! The food, staff, and atmosphere always feel like home. I love that I can stock up on herbs, spices, and other groceries while I wait for my food or after we eat. If you are looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican food, this is the spot to go on this block.
Food was great. Down there for my brother's funeral. Grew up in the same small town. Food was so good. Everyone had Mexican except me. I had a burger and fries. Even that was good. Reasonably priced. If you're in the area, drop in. Just might be surprised.
A little hole in the wall kind of restaurant, sharing space with a grocery market on one side... I cannot say good enough things about the food and quality service! A family owned business at its best, all menu items at affordable prices!! My favorite it the fish tacos and their freshly deep fried chips served with their specialty salsa. Chips are ayce if dining in and charged if to-go. An awesome place to visit whether you're on or off the budget!!
I just had the best tacos I've had in I don't know how long. Great service, great price, good seating options. Will definitely be returning whenever I'm in the area. Highly, highly recommend!! (Next time I'll try to remember to take photos)
I’ve only really been here for their breakfast burritos, but every time you get any of their breakfast burritos all of them are very very good
Nice place to eat. The Thursday special is fish tacos. Excellent!! Friendly service and good prices. I’ll be back (In Arnold’s voice)
Friendly service, great flavor, and big portions. Prices are very reasonable. Fish tacos are awesome, get them with extra chipotle sauce, and if you like menudo or pozole, well... don't hesitate to order some.
This place has the BEST chicken tacos ever! The salsa tastes like it came from heaven. The caldo is always warm and made with prime pieces of meat / seafood. The rice and beans are delicious. The tortas are huuuuge and theyRe amazing. The machaca is the best local machaca I’ve had!!! The employees are so so sweet, and they’re always top of their service! My favorite restaurant ever. Love love love love.
My wife and I think this is the best Mexican place in OC. I always get the enmoladas (mole made from scratch) and a carnitas taco. My wife gets the Sonora tacos. The guacamole is a MUST. Great portions and great drinks. Well worth the money.
We celebrated My Sons Birthday. We stopped for The Sunday Brunch. FOOD WAS AMAZING. we were very happy with the service. Staff was very attentive. Every few minutes would stop by and ask Us if we needed anything. Atmosphere was great, that traditional Mexican Restaurant hospitality. Then the Live Music started sang happy Birthday to everyone there who was celebrating. We wish we didn't live so far away from there. But we will definitely Be Back. Want to do dinner next. Thank You Again for food and service keep up the good work. See you soon.
Inside seating area is gorgeous. Staff was amazingly friendly! Tamales were best I’ve had and carne asada tacos were delicious. Definitely go get food and a drink here!
Great Mexican atmosphere and friendly people. I wish I could try everything on the menu. I went with the Rib Eye Steak. It comes sizzling over grilled onions and cheese stuffed pepper, which is delicious. I added salt to bring out the flavor of the steak. The flavor was excellent. The steak cut is less than 1 inch. It also comes with a side of rice and beans. I recommend. I will have to come back and try the other entrees.
First time to the restaurant. Came here for Cinco De Mayo celebrations, live entertainment, and fantastic food! Geraldine was our waitress who explained everything to us. Geraldine recommended an excellent Margarita that my wife loved! The ambience and food were excellent, will definitely. Will definitely come back here with the family!
The food was delicious! We went for my Mom's birthday and it was so worth it. Everyone was pleased with the taste of their food. I recommend the QuesoBirriaTacos, Albondigas(meatball soup), and The Skirt steak salad. The only thing I didn't like was after we were finished eating we felt a little rushed to clear our table.
I was looking for a Mexican buffet. We stopped at two other restaurants this morning, but the buffets were lacking. This place said nothing about live music or a buffet! This place has a full buffet, omlette bar, deserts, and champagne is included with your meal. ( on Sundays). I added an orange juice to make a mimosa and live music. Very good live music that started at 11am. You must try this place. I asked and they have been here since 1965!! A well-deserved long stay. Visit them, you will not be disappointed! I came on a Sunday, regular menue served during the week. They have very good Menudo and Pozole!! Needless to say by my after pictures everything we tried on the buffet was so good. Now I need a nap...bye..lol HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We walked in and were great right away and seated minutes after, The waiter came over and ask if ee were ready and we weren't just yet. So he came back and took our orders. I have the combination two hard shelled tacos/ chicken and my wife had the combination taco & enchilada & my sister in law had the combination 2 hard shelled tacos with beef. Our food came out fast we were extremely happy and satisfied with everything good flavor and servings. The chips and salsa 😋 was so delicious. A little spicy fyi . The young lady was cleaning up the restaurant after a large party did an amazing job.
This is my companies go to for our holiday functions. It's really good Mexican food and the fact that they easily handle 20-26 people is testament to the skill of the cooks and staff. I highly recommend this place if you want good authentic Mexican food and a cozy cantina feel. I also heard they make fantastic tamales but I haven't tried them yet. It's just what I've heard so far.
Food is okay. Prices reasonable. Very nice people. Nice ambience. Will return.
The cashier charged me for two bags, but I only used one.
The chicken mole was good. The beans had a bad soapy taste so I did not eat them. The salsa was mild which is what I like. The corn tortillas and chips where average. The Spanish rice was good. The price point was inexpensive. The service was good but would I go back no. I would get mole again but I would go somewhere else.
I want to start off by saying everyone was so nice and welcoming! Our waitress was so sweet! She noticed our baby was getting a little fussy and she brought him a toy to play with. We really appreciated it and it kept him entertained. She was beyond amazing! All the staff had 10/10 service! However, we did feel like the brunch was overpriced. There was a small selection of food and for 2 people our bill came out to $120. I also understand the high price since it is family owned. Overall, we hope to go back on a day they don't have brunch so we could try their dishes.
Very very good. $1.50 Taco Tuesday was the bomb. I tried the carne asada, carnitas and Al pastor. Everything was perfect. Salsa is great too. Awesome customer service. Will be back for the tamales. -update next time I was here the meat was old and dry and smelled like dog food. I can’t come back after this.
Although the staff was friendly and we were seated immediately. I can’t say the quality of the food was the same. Our experience was on a Sunday early afternoon, therefore brunch was the only option for a meal. Most food items lacked flavor, such as the refried beans (they also were extra runny- more like a soup), the chile verde - meat was super chewy - not tender. The menudo lacked flavor, the meat on the sopes was rough and hard to chew. Even the cucumber lemonade lacked flavor. My family and I know authentic Mexican food and this place falls short of authentic. $42 per person is way overpriced for this restaurant, not worth the money. Will not be returning to this location.
