Mandarin Garden is a local favorite known for delicious Chinese food and friendly service, especially from Ginger. Many praise the Peking duck, honey walnut shrimp, and gluten-free options. Some find it pricey, and there are occasional complaints about food quality and inconsistent service.
Tip: They are open on holidays. Gluten-free options are available, with the to-go menu clearly marked.
We've been going there since the kids were tiny. The people are so nice Food is good and they accommodate everyone's taste buds.
First time visiting, and absolutely love the food. Everything was perfect. Not a single item that wasn't amazing. Definitely will be back.
This is the best Chinese food in south county. We are gluten free and they are great. Shrimp, scallop and fish dishes the best!
My wife and I searched for a while to find a great Chinese food sit down restaurant. This is easily the best we've found in the South Orange County area. The friendly owner acts as the host and is here daily. Their food is consistent and delicious. It is also one of those rare places that still serve Egg Foo Young. Come hungry and try the Lemon Chicken and Beef with Snow Peas.
The place and food is pretty fancy, clean place, good service, and good food. Personal reviews on food: hunan beef: 5/5 spicy and awesome house specialty beef: 3/5 flavor is a tad odd, but pretty good sweet and sour chicken: 1/5 had no real taste. could definitely go with a much stronger/potent sauce.
Delicious food with absolutely wonderful customer service! My family has been eating here for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed. Our go to when we don’t have the time to cook at home.
I cannot believe my first time here was just last weekend. Such a treat to enjoy truly excellent and authentic Chinese food, great service by happy people. The owners are equally as friendly. I cannot wait to go back!
If you're looking for classic chinese (from an American's perspective), Mandarin Garden is great. I've not visited the location, but the food never fails to please each time I've had it delivered. I prefer Mandarin Garden to several others I've tried in the area. Additionally, they're making positive changes since we've been customers. Recipes seem to have improved, and the quality goes up all the time. For that alone they get 5 stars from me.
Our family has been coming here for the last 8 years or we have our food delivered. The staff are friendly, the food is tasty and made with good quality meats and ingredients. Some of our favorites include walnut shrimp, kung pao chicken, garlic shrimp, and the eggrolls to name a few. Don't change a thing Mandarin Garden!
My wife and I absolutely love this place. Never disappoints. We’ve dined in and grab food to go a lot. Always very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Friendly staff with tasty food. Always good with or family and engage our kids to speak Mandarin with them. Also our kids love the koi fish in the fountain in the center of the dining room.
I ordered the cream cheese wontons, house special beef, and the house special egg fo young. All but the cream cheese wontons was delicious! The beef was wonderfully flavored, juicy, and tender. The egg fo youngs were massive and perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that they put the gravy sauce on top instead of the side to add to taste. Also wish I had ordered the shrimp egg fo young as that was my favorite. The cream cheese wontons weren't bad they were just ordinary. With a name as Mandarin Garden Cream Cheese Wontons I was expecting something above average, maybe some mandarin zest in the cream cheese, over the finished product or even a mandarin dipping sauce. Lack of creativity on a dish they could have made their very own but an overall great tasting experience and would highly recommend.
Craving Chinese food and had to try this place. It did not disappoint. The food was fresh and exactly what we were craving. Friendly staff and clean. We will be back!
We had everything from fried rice, BBQ pork to crispy duck and it was all great! The service was good too! I will be returning. Laguna Niguel location
Great food, great location. Ginger was a pleasure to speak with. Service was outstanding. Give this place a try. I suggest Honey Walnut Shrimp and hand made Pot Stickers
I'm glad to have found this lovely restaurant. The service is fast and friendly. The food is really tasty. I recommend the fish.
Have eaten there several times the food is great, but the people that work there are awesome. They're just wonderful
Good American Chinese food. Great flavor and good portion. There's a koi pond in the restaurant too. Our kids loved it! Top notch service too.
Enjoyed the very tasty food and the service was great. Very nice greeting and we were sat immediately. They were busy but we got first class service.
Great food and service. Loved the bbq pork with Chinese vegetables. Also the largest egg foo young I have ever had.
The best gluten free orange chicken I think I’ve ever had. They use cornstarch. Sooo good. I really considered going into the kitchen and hugging the chef but I assume that is frowned upon. The to go menu has gluten free marked but the regular one does not.
Really beyond my expectations. Delicious food and great service! Highly recommend😋

I’ve lived down the street from here for years but have never been here. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had both a beautiful and tranquil ambience as well as great service. It has been over 15 years since someone’s taken the extra time to box my to-go food, but our server Jack did just that. He also brought our baby boy extra cookies after some fell onto the floor. This is real service. The food tasted fresh and it didn’t seem to be the type of place that leaves food sitting out for long which was nice. Most importantly, Jack would be the main reason we go back. He made the entire experience pleasant.
The owner Ginger is amazing and ALWAYS kind and seats you right away. The food is fresh and is soooo good. We go there at least once a week.
New Mandarin Garden is a true hidden gem! We had the chicken chow mein, veggie soup, steamed veggies, and chicken, and everything was fantastic. The food was simple in the best way—not overly spiced, but so fresh, well-cooked, and packed with natural flavor. The chicken was perfectly tender, the veggies crisp and vibrant, and the soup was light yet satisfying. It’s the kind of meal that makes you feel good. We’ll definitely be back!
I take home food every dinner from various local restaurants. It works for me financially if I limit cost to $12-15 per dinner. I don't cook and am 1 person. I love fish and can get a healthy fish meal with sizzling veggies that lasts 2 days. The portion is big enough to last with plenty shrimp, scallops, and white fish. One day i went crazy ordering extras like spareribs and wanton soup. It lasted for 3 days so my cost per day still worked. I do not eat there so don't care about decor. Location is convenient as i pick up purchases from Amazon at the whole foods a few doors down. Finding good take out that fits with my cost per meal requirements is not easy. It works here and I love the food. I have never eaten there so can't comment to that experience.
This Place Was Delicious And The Service Was Excellent. Coming Back For Sure. Best Honey Walnut Shrimp I've Ever Had. The House Special Fried Rice A Must Try. Egg Drop Soup Hits Different On A Cold Night Like Tonight. Along With Unlimited Water Refills. 💧 😃
Ordered the Peking duck today. It’s so delicious! It’s crispy outside and meat is soft. And, the price is quite reasonable, comparing to $40+ in other places. You know what I mean. Service is great as well. Very friendly and kind. Definitely will recommend this restaurant!
We always have a wonderful meal. Try something new!
We have been ordering from them for over 12 years since they were first in another location!! Always open on the holidays which we love too!! Our food has always been great!! Ginger is great!! There isn’t anything we haven’t liked!! As with everything these days the prices have gone up so we can’t order as we used to but we try to and highly recommend them ❤️
Just had dinner here with my loved one as we are new in the neighborhood and she’s been wanting to try this place for a while. Well, they deliver good food, good service with a smile on their face. We both enjoyed our dining experience here and we’re looking forward to coming back real soon. Give this place a try!
We happen upon this spot on a Saturday night and where pleasantly surprised by this little gem next to Whole Foods. It was sparkling clean and bright with a friendly and engaging staff. Best of all was that our food was very tasty and the leftovers provided another feast on Sunday night. Extra bonus was that the affordable prices make this a place to which we will return time and time again!

Been going here since I was a little kid. They changed ownership but I would say the quality of food has remained close to the same. Some times it can be a little greasy/salty, depending on the menu choice. But altogether a great local Chinese food option that is more traditional.
Good food although understaffed. Hostess (owner) was rude and did not seat people as soon as tables cleared. Once the restaurant became less busy, she was quite pleasant.
Food is great for local TakeOut. I am new to area yet eat ToGo Vegetarian Dishes from here regularly! Small restaurant in large, established shopping center with much to do and see.
It's been very hard to find good Chinese in s. OC. The lunch special is about $15. The house beef special was especially delicious. Found my new Chinese food spot, especially for take out
Left to Right Kung Pao Bean Curd: 9-10 Orange Bean Curd (Orange "Chicken"): 5-10, not breaded and not orange taste. Definitely going back though.

Very good food and friendly service, but a bit pricey
Id not been in a long while, we both remembered it being pretty good. Def not the best around. We got two meals to swap n share. Mushu pork and I dont even remember the other item which tells me it was only do so...(yawn) think it was orange or cashew chicken? Neither were bad, just not craveworthy-cant- wait-to- go-back-great.

Food was good but I think they add MSG since I got a pretty bad migraine after ordering food from here. If you get migraines, beware.
Be careful when ordering, especially by phone. They charged us for Dinner meals when it was supposed to be lunch special. After I left, i realized their error. When I went back to ask they clarify, it was basically a “too bad for you” answer. They overcharged by $10, and they could care lesss. And got away with it. Pathetic people.
Service bad! The wonan waitress is rude!feel like 30 years ago in China! Don't suggest!
Only one waiter in the restaurant on 25th Dec was serving 12-13 tables or more. No water we had to pay 50 cents for a bottle, only paper dish, no silverware but plastics and no service, foods were cold. Big disappointment. That poor waiter, I had to tip him 15%, I think that wasn't his fault.
Ordered takeout through Grubhub and the food’s quality was worse than airplane food on an international flight. Would not recommend this place.
For being in business for a long time you would expect them to have both the service and the food on point. Extremely disappointed with both. The food was bland and or too sweet. The fact that the orange chicken and walnut shrimp tasted the same gives a good indication of what to expect.

The food was all super bland and the chicken was chewy as well ! What a disappointment as we hunt for some decent Chinese food in the area
Ordered take out. Obviously not fresh. The Sweet and Sour Pork looked like it had been reheated in the wok and carrots and onions were burnt. No reason to continue. $75 for stale food, we will not return.
We had a bad experience with the food. The male server was nice. We ordered the Kung pao dish with 3 meats but replaced the beef with pork. The pork and chicken tasted awful, you can tell it was very old. The fried rice was saturated with oil and the wonton soup came out warm not hot. We only asked for an exchange for a different dish on the Kung Pau dish, we were afraid to eat it for fear of getting sick. The server was super nice but the lady name Ginger went back in the kitchen was literally screaming 😱 the whole time until the dish was done cooking then she brought it out and slammed it down on our table and walked away. We didn't eat that dish or the rice. We payed our bill and left. We will never go back and we do not recommend this place for the food quality. It was awful. Prices are extremely high for low quality.
