A very welcoming atmosphere greeted my party in this local café. It was a straightforward menu with good options to explore on multiple visits. Onion strings were a great starter and the salads for sides were fresh. We also had the fried okra which was crispy and flavorful. The burgers and chicken strips were cooked perfectly. Along with the great food and atmosphere was pleasant service and conversation. I felt welcomed and part of the cafe's story even though it was my first time.

I recently visited The Jay Cafe and was pleasantly surprised by the warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly service, and — most importantly — the food. (They serve Halal Chicken) I ordered the chicken noodle soup, and it truly hit the spot. The broth was rich and flavorful without being overly salty, and it had just the right balance of herbs. The noodles were perfectly cooked — not too soft — and the chicken was tender and generously portioned. You could tell it was made fresh and with care, like a comforting homemade meal. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and everything was served promptly. It’s rare to find a place that gets the simple things so right, and this soup was a perfect example of that. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy meal that’s both satisfying and made with quality ingredients. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Pictures to follow…. A Hidden Gem!!! Chicken fried steak so tender you could cut it with a fork, okra was lightly battered and fresh, mashed potatoes were fresh made not boxed and the Caesar salad was sooo good with what tasted like homemade dressing. My husband had apple pie for dessert and said it was delicious. Overall would give it a 10 out of 10. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. Y’all don’t want to miss this place for real home cooking in a restaurant atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!!

So I was going to another restaurant I frequent but I seen the sign on Jay's Cafe restaurant said home cooking so I decided to check it out. The menu was decent but the waitresses both suggested the daily special which was Thursday potroast. So I decided to try that and while waiting waitress Shelby was kind enough to answer my questions about Jay's restaurant. She informed me everything is made from scratch and same recipes used for decades. Let me say I understand why used for so long. I can't remember ever having pot roast at a restaurant taste truly like southern home cooking. It was delicious. While I waited I tried an order of their batter dipped fried pickles which were also not only on point but a healthy amount. I got the mashed potatoes and gravy side and they were awesome as well as the batter dipped onion strings. Very polite, kind, helpful wait staff, great food, and I even got to meet the owner. This is one of those hole in the wall gems you must stop at if you like southern home cooking. The only thing I'd say could use changing is the tables are beautiful and shouldn't be covered with table cloths. I'll for sure be stopping in again on a Thursday and also other days. This is a must dine at eatery in Lake Jackson.
I recently visited Jay Cafe for the first time on a bustling Sunday, and I must say, the dining experience was fantastic despite the restaurant being quite busy. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring we were well taken care of from the moment we walked in. The highlight of my meal was the turkey with stuffing and gravy – it was absolutely delicious! The turkey was tender and flavorful, complemented perfectly by the rich, savory gravy. The stuffing was equally impressive, with a wonderful blend of spices that made every bite a delight. The sides were just as noteworthy. The green beans with bacon were cooked to perfection, with a delightful crunch and a smoky flavor from the bacon. The corn was sweet and fresh, adding a nice balance to the meal. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with Jay Cafe on my first visit. They provided an exceptional dining experience even during a busy time. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a hearty and satisfying meal. I’ll definitely be back!
I would give this place ten stars if I could. I was in town for a short time and wanted real southern cooking and especially a chicken fried steak. I was feeling good going in so I ordered some fried mushrooms. I have eaten fried mushrooms my whole life the kind you eat and they squirt hot juice in your mouth that come frozen from a bag. These were fresh mushrooms breaded and fried!!! Incredible. The ranch to dip was perfect too. We both got chicken fried steaks the main event. They were huge and meaty and delicious. Perfectly breaded, fried, tenderized, everything. The potatoes were perfect consistency and the gravy topped everything off. I’m sad I will never be back but thank you for an incredibly memorable meal.
This experience was a great and fun one .with excellent customer service . We had an awesome waiter named Emma was kind and very nice . I recommend Jays every time .. oh and if u think the small chicken fried steak isn’t enough… think again I ordered the small one and my husband ordered the big one I could hardly finish mine and he was trying hard to finish his lol HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM WE LIVE YOU! I really like the traditional home style food here as it has a very country hometown vibe! The food is super delicious, mouth watering and absolutely worth the drive. My favorite item is the jalapeno poppers, fried okra and the chicken fried chicken. The pies were my favorite part. The coconut cream pie, apple pie along with the peach cobbler are some of my favorites with ice cream. The service is great and would definitely stop by again!

The breading was crispy and golden, with a satisfying crunch that gave way to a juicy, flavorful interior. And the size? Absolutely staggering - it covered the entire plate, with a surface area that seemed to rival a small pizza! But size alone isn't everything, and this chicken fried steak delivered on flavor too. The seasoning was spot-on, with a perfect balance of spices and herbs that complemented the rich beefiness of the steak. And the gravy? Oh, the gravy was the perfect accompaniment, a rich, savory sauce that added depth and complexity to each bite. I won't lie, tackling this massive steak was a challenge, but one I embraced with gusto. And the payoff? Absolutely worth it. This largest-ever chicken fried steak was a true culinary triumph, a dish that will go down in history as one of the greatest feats of culinary excess I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. 5 stars, 10/10, would devour again in a heartbeat!

My husband & I just ate here for the 1st time today & it was delicious! The waiters were super attentive, kind, & friendly. We can’t wait to come back again. I wish we could’ve taken more pictures of the food, but we were so hungry XD We ordered the BLT, Grandma’s chicken salad sandwich, sweet tea’s, & apple pie. They even have homemade ranch! Come here for a great meal!! <3

We had really good homemade food! Best we've had without cooking it ourselves! Waitress was awesome. Will definitely be back. Glad we have finally found a place to eat that really means home cooking.
Our friends wanted to take us here and I am so glad we came! Food is delicious! It is so fresh! It is a cozy little diner that looks small from the outside, but has plenty of seating! My daughter loved the coconut pie. The BLT was so good and the appetizers are HUGE! The burgers and chicken fried steak were great! We will be back!
I order out all the time and occasionally eat in here and the food and staff are always awesome… my last server was Rob who recommended awesome choice and was a very good waiter … today had delivery food was so tasty!!! I recommend to all my family
I’ve become a regular at this local coffee shop of Lake Jackson. The staff here are very polite and respectful. My favorite items to get and illustrated in my picture is their Muddy Mocha iced latte and the BK Green Egg Scramble. I’ll usually visit to read a book as I drink down my coffee, but I do have to wear headphones occasionally with white noise playing as there is typically a medium level of ambient noise that distracts me. The atmosphere of the store is awesome and I always feel comfortable there.

I have gone a few times now and each one different than the last. Today however I found my new thing! I am in love with the sandwich I got today. The BEAT sandwich with no avocado (I’m allergic) no poblano aoli, add basil mayo on a freaking croissant! I thought this thing would be small, boy was I surprised to open and find a hoggie sized croissant! The sandwich was amazing! Flaky soft croissant with the crunchy but still slightly chewy thick cut bacon, the perfect eggs, and the freaking delicious basil mayo! TO DIE FOR!!!! I will be back for another after the holiday! Also muddy mocha blended with almond milk! Chef’s kiss! Thank you to the wonderful lady at the register and all the staff busting out orders in a timely manner during this busy season! 💙
This is by far the best coffee shop in all of Brazoria County! None of the other coffee shops have an espresso machine as nice as Brew N Bake's. I drink an iced americano with 2 extra shots (a total of 5 shots) and 3 pumps of honey (which is local, pretty cool). The espresso isn't bitter even though it is chilled. I'm telling you, it's amazing! (I am currently sipping one right now haha) Their baked goods perfectly pair with whatever beverage you decide. The baked goods are made from scratch and you can tell! Delicious!

Absolutely love this place every time I come to Lake Jackson. The coffee is always great and the baked goods are also pretty special. The bacon cheddar scone and the house made buttermilk biscuit are always on point. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.
If you are looking for a well rounded coffee shop, this is your place. You also can’t go wrong with their prices. They are more than reasonable and probably the best around. The food here is top notch. The BEAT sandwhich and the EMS scramble with bacon and avocado are my go-to’s. All of there bakery items, cheesecakes, and coffee is great too. You really can’t go wrong with this place. Also, if you are a chai fan, this place makes probably my favorite chai drink. It’s a powder base chai, but it with a shot of espresso is heavenly.
I have been to coffee shops all over the country and this is by far the best one I’ve ever been to. The food and coffee are excellent and so is the service. Honestly, it makes living in the area just a little more worthwhile.
I LOVE Brew-n-bane! There's always amazing pastry sekctioms and they hot food is fantastic! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I still go for the atmosphere and the food. Always have to get a Sweetie (not sure is that's what they call them, but that's what they'll always be to me). They're just as good as Sandy's Sweets!
This place is awesome! They have a wide variety of options even for someone like me on a strict diet. Service was very friendly and the food and coffee were delicious! Quite a creative menu. Definitely a morning hot spot.
We ordered takeout and everything was hot, tasted great and contained large portions. For the avocado toast, they put a whole avocado on it. The coffees were excellent. Excellent first time experience.
Wonderful little coffee shop. Great atmosphere and vibes going on. The bathrooms were very large and clean. Great caffeinated beverages and baked goods. We only got the Rosemary scone, but it was amazing. The staff was super friendly, and if you get the barista's choice when a Whitney Houston song comes on, you're in for a real treat

Stopped in at The Jay Cafe today with my family, and we were definitely satisfied! We ordered: The Big Jay Double Burger—Easily one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Juicy, cheesy, and stacked perfectly. The Big Tex Chicken Fried Steak—My wife loved it. Crispy, well-seasoned, and smothered in cream gravy. The Jay Burger—My daughter enjoyed it, and it came with fries and all the classic toppings. Everything tasted fresh and came out hot. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable for the quality. The only downside: there were a few flies in the back area where we sat. It didn't ruin the meal, but it was a bit distracting.

Today I had a delicious exquisite coffee latte with a shot of hazelnut and ate an egg kolache, bacon and cheese (I was not impressed by this kolache, but was good). The atmosphere was perfect, with good music and excellent service. They have Wi-Fi available and it is a good place to do business, to study or just have fun with friends. You can choose between hot or cold beverages. The price is relative, for me it's good. Adding to my visit today, Jaunuary 25, 2020. Maybe I still don't ask for my coffee. As much as I ask for my 8oz coffee, with double shot of coffee, extra hot, IN A GLASS CUP, I don't know why they don't give me the service as I ask. It's logical... if I ask for an EXTRA HOT coffee, why they give it to me in a glass cup without a handle and not in the MUG I always ask for and they never give me. They have not seen the news of the lawsuit they against an fast food restaurant (not to mention its name) when the client burned his hands for picking up a cup of hot coffee... Not to mention that they gave me the wrong breakfast, although it was delicious. Any way. I love this place, have a great food, fresh food and I will returned because is awesome be in this place and I recommended. You should visit this place.
We were in town and wanted to eat at the locals cafe. Once inside we waited some time as instructed to, then we were told to sit anywhere we wanted to. Waitress wasn't prepared to take any questions, glazed. We ordered the chicken fried steak and when it was brought out it was missing the rolls. I asked the waitress where they were and she replied we are out, since it part of the meal I asked if they had biscuits and the answer was no, we have some Texas toast so we agreed on that. After nearly finishing our meal she brought out one slice of toast to be shared, I requested that we each should have a piece. So long story short avoid this place if all possible, go anywhere but here.
Service is incredibly slow. I ordered 1 drink 20 minutes ahead of time on the website, to be put at the end of the line of drinks to be made when I arrived. There are never enough staff. Drinks are only slightly better than Starbucks and much more expensive.
$12.50 for a small container of TX hash is ridiculous. I paid over $3.50 for avocado and bacon to have 2 pieces of crumb bacon and 1 slice of avocado put on the hash. Eggs were over cooked and dry. Not impressed.
Did a mobile order and it was my first time ever going there when I got there I told him my name and he said they are almost done with it and that they will call my name when it’s done 10 minutes went by I had to go up there and tell them again and he said oh sorry I forgot we put it in the fridge I feel like if I didn’t go back up there it would of been longer probably won’t be back
Very disappointed. We were a group of 7, our orders were over $200!! As another person stated in the reviews that the owner completely disregarded and did not bother to acknowledge - the portion sides are tiny for the price and quality. The bacon was uneatable that I received and a drop of sauce on the bread made my breakfast sandwich unpleasant. Coffee was decent at best, much better coffee shops in Lake Jackson like The Refined Coffee Company and Rise & Grind. A lot of gnats and flies in the establishment, dirty bathroom and tables were left for patrons to clean. Fellow friends stated they also were not pleased with service or food quality. Not sure if the owner/management isn’t really involved and leaves the teenagers to operate the shop or if they just do not care about their image and how it’s perceived. But honestly…DO BETTER!
