Yang's Asian Bistro Latham Reviews
Absolutely delicious! Best Chinese food Ive had in a while! Nice atmosphere, great staff. I ordered Mongolian beef! DELICIOUS!!
It was absolutely outstanding, the food was delicious! The sushi was very fresh and the tuna I got had a rich flavor, and to top it off the lunch special was a good value with miso soup, salad, 5 pieces of sushi and a maki roll. To top it off they gave me a special roll on the house, for no reason! That was beyond delightful, I'll go here for lunch and dinner many times, for sure. I can't wait to try the traditional chinese fare next time I come!
Very good food! I went with my wife for Valentine's Day and the food was very delicious and authentic. lived in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years and this restaurant has been the closest meal in comparison. I'll definitely return.
I had a nice mango and shrimp Thai dish and wifey had a meatless hibachi mixed vegetables with rice. Mine was good but she felt hers was not tastey so we complained and they comped us her meal!
This place is amazing! We love the Hibachi dinners, everything is soo good. The sesame chicken and lo mein dishes are also great. Can't go wrong here!
The food here was great! Not under cooked, not over cooked. Full of flavor and so many options. Delivered on time right to our hotel room. I highly recommend them.
I got a bento box for lunch. It was amazing and really good deal price-wise. The food was super filling and they had tons of options (sushi, hibachi, Thai, Asian, etc.). I genuinely enjoyed my food and was so happy with my experience!
First time trying Yangs. Got the Szechuan beef lunch special. Came with 4 pieces California roll, 4 pieces shrimp shumai, salad, and soup. Portions are great and food was delicious. Will definitely try again.
A bit pricey but the food is amazing!
If you looking for higher quality asian cuisine this is a great option. They have a great variety of Chinese, Japanese and southern Asian dishes. I would recommend the duck or the dumplings The Szechuan Dumplings have a delicious peanut sauce which is delicious and stands apart from you typical dumpling you'd get from the typical Chinese food offering.
Our go to place for sushi for many years. Everything is always fresh, Quality is great and service is great and quick.
Great lunch spot for a good meal, great service and a pleasant experience. Good for a working lunch or for pleasure. I hope to try the restaurant in the evening!
Food was great! Just went there first time since covid began, they re- did the place, looks nicer, and clean. And their prices are decent and good portions.
Best Asian food in the Latham area I've had, at a better price than some others. Dining area is nice for eating in, also take-out and delivery is available so its very convenient. Highly recommend.
Always great. A real high end feel yet casual place with a really nice interior. Great authentic menu. Best pot stickers we've ever had.
Love this place! The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is great! Amazing lunch specials. One of the best pan-Asian restaurants in the area. Highly recommended!
Great place and staff. Lots of vegan options!!! Full bar!!
Best Sushi/Sashimi you're gonna get in Colonie (unless you want Uni then I recommend you go to Sake for that specifically). Additionally while they might not have open Habachi's anymore... the Habachi on the menu is still fantastic as ever.
Nice ambiance. Great food. Awesome salad dressing which is unusual for Chinese place. Great Korean miso soup. I got the General tso's bento box. Several times now. Nice wait staff. Fast service.
Absolutely Delicious!!! This place is the best! We go at least 2 times a month. Briana and her staff are wonderful, we’ve become very good friends!
Excellent food, however service was a bit slow seating us and getting are bill. I would recommend though. Very fair prices and convenient location.
Outstanding. The best sushi I've ever had, without a doubt.
I loved the place, the staff were super nice, they didn't stay at your table all the time as if they wanted you to leave, the food was very fresh and tasty, I really recommend this place.
I had a great experience on Mother's Day dining for the first time at this place in Latham. The food was cooked just way I like it. And served us plenty of food variety. The waiter was pleasant, atmosphere was inviting. I will be back again. Oh! They gave all the mother"s a gift 🎁 to take home. So sweet of them.
Love it here. Never had a bad experience and I have been during peak meal times and in between hours. Beautiful presentation of really well made food.
Oh. My. Gosh. If I could give this place a 12 out of 5 review I would! The food here is amazing with so many different options!!! My family and I come here practically every week or so and it has become our favorite restaurant for sure!!! The fish is always fresh and delicious and it is such a calm environment! The interior design is very cool and interesting and the staff is so kind!
Delicious box lunch for only $14 Lots of food ..had plenty for take home Loved the Mongolian beef
Lovely place for some tasty Asian cuisine! We ordered Pad Thai and Japanese Udon - both turned out great and was served quickly. Not very crowded at least on a weekday. It was beautifully decorated but they could do with a bit more lighting!
Ordered takeout on a Monday night (kudos for being open on Mondays! its so hard to find Monday restaurants!) - the portion sizes were fair for the price. My son enjoyed the yaki udon and I had the maki combo 2. I also have several food allergies and there was no issue accommodating allergen requests. We look forward to ordering again!
Simply great! The sushi is fresh, with generous cuts of the fish. Our entrees were absolutely delicious, and the menu is extensive...the sake was great as well! The service was fast and attentive, we were so happy to learn of this gem soo close to home! Definitely recommend.
Great Sushi all around. Presentation, freshness, and amount of fish-to-rice in each roll. I'm from downstate, so I'm kind of picky with what sushi I do and don't like. The sushi here rivals all the sushi I've had downstate, only beaten by one place I can think of offhand (which was far more money and only has a few options). The owner is nice, fish was fresh, and the prices are very good for the quality. Highly recommended! I'll be sure to visit in the next few months again.
My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's day lunch and it was perfect :) Really great customer service! The interior is beautiful and intimate ♡ The menu has a great variety of dishes. The crispy duck was amazing! The house special Lo mein was perfectly seasoned. The Rock shrimp mind blowing delicious! We will be back :)
This place is the absolute best!! We come here a lot, but not as much as we would like to. ;) The food is always amazing. Sushi is fresh and delicious. The staff are curious and fast. The decor is so lovely, I absolutely love the style! The owner is super sweet and nice and it's always nice to talk to her when she comes by the table. Highly recommend this place for a great and lovely atmosphere and fantastic food!!
Just moved to the area. The area lacks flavorful, authentic, ethnic food, this place does not. I visit a few times a month! Flavorful, fresh, great service. My favorite is the Godzilla roll but everything I've had here from the sushi, Thai food, soups and appetizers has been good.
Good family atmosphere. Staff is friendly and attentive. No problem using the coupon we had. Alcoholic beverages were made very well, and the hot tea was also very good. Portions are on the bigger side. I enjoyed the Malaysian curry chicken, it was very good and filling. Others in my party had the udon noodles, and the chicken and seafood. Both enjoyed their meals. This is the third time we have been there, and we will keep going back. Each time has been consistent.
First off I’m new to the area and haven’t been doing much cooking still unpacking and whatever and I’ve been looking for a GOOD place to eat I’ve tried almost all in the 12110 area for Asian restaurants and sadly not one was good... UNTIL TODAY!!! OMG! THE BEST IVE HAD IN A LONG TIME I WAS BLOWN AWAY RICE 10/10 GENERAL TAO 10/10 WONTON SOUP 10/10 Fried chicken wings 🤤 10/10 the lunch special came wish fish cakes i think so delicious 😋 also with few California rolls absolutely delicious my daughter had the fried chicken wings with pork fried rice she loved it she gave me a wing so i could try it just taste fresh and clean also we had a egg roll wonderful really taste the cabbage very fresh tasting This is my go to place now!! A little pricey but when the taste is the best in the area the few extra dollars are worth it.... DON’T LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE! You will be satisfied!!
Literally my favorite sushi place in the capital area. Have been coming here for 6-7 years now & the quality of the food and service has never changed. -Even with a switch over of management & restaurant name. Expect to be paying for good sushi though, which is never a cheap affair. Well worth the money for a good night of food. Will likely keep coming here for years to come.
The food is varied, delicious & fairly priced.the appetizers are very interesting.the service is not fancy, servers quick & not particulary cordial but i m not vmthere to make friends .the food s the thing!! Lol
This place has the BEST SUSHI in the area!!! I've gone again and again and they never disappoint. There is a wide variety of both sushi and regular cuisine to choose from and they all taste fresh. The sushi for 2 at $35 is an amazing deal with more than enough sushi on the plate. The beef chow fun and mongolian beef are two must try dishes. Great atmosphere, awesome prices and fresh food. Cannot recommend this place enough!!
Food was delicious. We got the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the basil filet mignon.
Great atmosphere. Even better cuisine. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
As always yang's was great. Everything we got was delicious. Definitely one of the best sushi places in the area!
This place use the real good quality steak when you order steak. Quality is way better than other Asian places. Feeling your get what you pay for.
I started dining at Yang's almost 10 years ago and their food has maintained exceptional quality and taste! They have the BEST General Tso! I love the atmosphere and their staff members are amazing! Thank you Yang's for always giving your best!!! I will forever dine at Yang's!!!😊😊😊😋😋😋
Fantastic sushi at reasonable prices. Large portions. Appetizers were delicious (shumai and Thai crab cakes! ) Waitstaff was friendly without fluff, perfect for those rare date nights. We can't wash to go back and try other dishes.
Food is very good. However, they do not cook the Hibachi dinners in front of you like other places, but prices are same. That could be preferred...or not. Waitstaff was nice, though it seemed that there was only one on duty at the time. Note that if you use a discount voucher, a >20% gratuity will be added automatically. P.s. Get the fried icecream!
Stopped there after work at 4:30 on a Tuesday so it was empty. We ordered 1 hot tea, 1 house salad, 5 rolls (3 speciality ones). Salad was fine enough, nice presentation, dressing was watery and lacked the ginger flavor I like at most sushi spots. We were very happy with the rolls. The mango one had great flavor, Godzilla was ‘deep fried’ but not overly coated or heavy, the Philly tasted great (although I prefer cucumber instead of avo bc of the crunch and not two mushy consistencies with the cream cheese), Red Dragon roll (shrimp tempura) was great and he was happy with the peppered tuna roll. Critique: Server could have taken the dirty dish sooner - we were the only ones in there - and I would have liked a refill on my tea that I placed by the end of the table w/ the dish that needed to be cleared. She didn’t ask if I wanted a refill until after the sushi came, not when we were waiting so I declined. Place was clean, nice ambiance, nice presentation, odor free. Meal cost $60 without tip, and I’m sure would get expensive quickly ordering apps and drinks but seemed priced appropriately to comparable restaurants. Can’t comment on the entrée dishes bc we only ordered rolls but I will be back to order more!
I went for lunch and had the shushi lunch platter. It was just the right size and it was served with miso soup and salad, making it a great balance of fish, rice, veggies and savory soup. The price is also very good! The staff was very accommodating, pleasant and efficient. I liked the interior decoration and the playlist was good. I'll definitely go back!
This food is very good. The restaurant is always very clean and decorated nicely. The food is fresh, hot, and fast and the service is usually on point. It's my favorite place for Asian food in the Capital Region.
Good lo mein, Sichuan chicken/beef/pork. Was a little disappointed last time with the wanton soup. If you are craving asian food it's worth checking out. They also have some sushi on the menu. Not geared towards sushi overall, but their selection of it is pretty good.
A nice little place to go to for Asian food. We went here on a busy Saturday night and they managed to squeeze us in a table for two in one of the corners. It isn't a spacious place by all means but it could be worse. It features a large bar where they make the drinks and sushi. The place had a lively but cozy atmosphere. I ordered one of their specialty sushi rolls and it was delicious; my boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. I ordered a drink from the bar and it was satisfactory. I thought that the portions provided to us were good and satisfying, and the prices a nice value. Service in the beginning was a bit slow for us, but I didn't fault them for it too much because I could see how busy they were with a full house and only a couple waitstaff to spare. Overall I enjoyed dinner here and at some point would love to return.
Since moving to the area, Yang’s has been the got to Americanized - Asian Fusion spot. They have consistently good food and good times. We mostly do take out, but have dined in once. Take out is packaged well, and it tastes great. Their rolls are pretty good. I personally wish their lo mein had a little more flavor. However, this place is a solid place to order from.
Picked up takeout on a weekend night. Prices were higher than on online menu, but the food was good -- egg roll, avocado salad & garlic chicken -- and enough for two meals. I was especially pleased that the garlic chicken wasn't over cooked and the garlic flavor wasn't bitter or overpowering. They got it just right. Will continue to go for takeout.
food was cold. it was good. (tempura chicken & tempura vegetables eith rice)
I would give more stars but their take-out Wong Tong soup has slipped. It used to have more dumplings per bowl and there used to be much more sliced vegetables and meat.
Good size lunch portions and prices. Soup had very little taste. Service a little slow talking orders but improved. Food was a little bland, not much taste or spices/seasoning.
June 2025 update: Don’t expect authentic dishes, but it’s perfectly fine. Service is good. You can get the food made to order in a healthy way. Sitting areas are nice. Yang’s is a good place for anyone with dietary limitations. They do substitutions really well, and will even sub brown rice in sushi. This place definitely caters to the local clientele. It’s not authentic— don’t expect Sichuan flavors when you order the “mala” dishes, which are neither “ma (numb)” nor “la (spicy)”. The sushi is just average for the area.
Sushi was good. Asian/Thai dishes were kinda gross- heavy sauce & stringy chicken. Not sure why the reviews are so good.
This has always been our go to place for sushi, went with a party of 4. We had a "clipp" coupon worth $40. After we presented the coupon they adjusted our check. Our original check was $123 and change. After the coupon our check was $122 and change. They added a tip of over $27 and must have added another charge somewhere. So we got ripped off. We decided to pay and just not go back.
Food is excellent, however when dining by in, prepare to be neglected by servers. Takeout appears to be a higher priority to the staff. Servers were entirely consumed by the takeout process. When our food was dropped off there wasn’t even a second to ask for anything, they walked away.
Have gone here several times but didn't have a good experience yesterday. We order Chicken Pad Thai and Hibachi chicken entree. The Pad Tai was room temp and tasteless. The hibachi chicken was gummy. The waitress was very unfriendly and unwelcoming.
On Wednesday night I went with my daughter and husband around 7:30pm. I was excited to go to Yang’s because they have sushi as well as Chinese and Thai dishes. My husband ordered chicken and seafood stir fry and my daughter had sushi. Both were pretty mediocre. I ordered the sesame chicken, which we all agreed was delicious. I would avoid the desserts all together, they were inedible and sort of misleading. The fried Oreos are vanilla, which they don’t let you know, so you order expecting regular chocolate Oreos, but no. The fried ice cream was not like any other fried ice cream I’ve had at other places. The ball of ice cream inside the tempura was so hard and icy I couldn’t get my spoon through it and the tempura seemed to be a complete separate piece. it was strange and not very good. Unfortunately the worst part of the experience was the service. They all seemed nice but it was very very slow. Once we were given our entrees the waitress did not stop by even once to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. I was excited to try the place but unfortunately will not be adding it to one of our regular places.
For some reason, I got it in my head that this was primarily a Japanese restaurant, so I ordered sashimi. Ughh. I don't recommend. It just seemed to be frozen fish sliced into rectangles. On the other hand, my hot and sour soup was good. I suspect the Chinese food there is much better.
To go, after many good food experiences, a not so good one.
Went there for lunch. The place was relatively empty and the 4 or 5 staff members were not busy. We all ordered a lunch special. Salad was fine, ( it's salad) soup was barely warm. Main course shrimp were waaay overcooked, chicken not as bad but the rice and noodles were also just warm. The waiter never checked on us and just left the bill without comment. He never came back and the cashier asked us if we needed a box. Because the waiter didn't return, we put the money on the table and left. Our first and last time there.
I went there to pick up an order my wife had placed for us and when I got there the person in the front had an attitude, no smile. No hi hello, “just here for a pick up?” Which I understand if it’s busy but it was quiet and not very busy. The sauce had eggshells in it and I Requested extra utensils and was given one freaking spoon and one fork. The food was mediocre and the soup was cold. I expected more.
I ordered the ginger chicken with string beans for lunch takeout. I was very disappointed I didn't taste any ginger in the food at all. I love Ginger. I called up and they said well it's a very very small piece of ginger that they put in. I don't know why they call a ginger chicken with string beans then
Food was very unappealing. Lunch was yesterday’s food can definitely tell. Place isn’t the same it was15 yrs ago. Cheep quality food. Good service though. Sushi King is better for lunch
Food was overall ok. Service was not good at all though. Charged our card multiple times and offered no correction blaming it on issues with wifi. Would not recommend.....not worth the risk of getting your money stolen.
The girl who answered the phone and took my order DEFINITELY skimmed my card information and then took herself on a shopping spree. Aside from that, this place has completely taken a nose dive. Cheap ingredients, like as cheap as they can find, and they lack intergrity when you let them know that an employee skimmed a card. Don't go here. There's so many other places in the area that are way better. Sake cafe in Albany and Latham, Hana (always amazing), Koto, Shogun, etc.
Got there and it was relatively busy but there were still empty tables. The waitress was running from table to table. Like literally running, it was making my whole party really uncomfortable. When our order was being taken, she was just quickly scribbling everything down and made it seem like it was an inconvenience that we were ordering. She kept telling us what she needed to hurry because they are so busy. The food came out and my appetizer was completely undercooked. I ended up getting sick when I got home. Then everyone else’s sushi came out and I waited about 20 minutes and my food never came. I asked if I could take it to go and the waitress told me she lost my order. So another 15 minutes later my food finally came out and to my surprise, I was not apologized to and I was still charged full price for the food she had forgotten. Just overall not the best experience.
They were very friendly, but there many complications with our order. We ordered to go and the first thing that threw me off was that we asked for our chicken to be crispy and they were extremely soggy and worse pasty was that the sauce was cheap and tasteless(great value brand, pretty sure), we weren't given any napkins nor utensils, the cheated us out of the two orders of rice for each of us by combing the rice which was giving us one order of rice basically, and the price is way too high for this low quality food and I’m not trying to bash this fine establishment, but it could be way significantly better.
Terrible experience. Although the service is sometimes okay, they are very rude and have had multiple disappointing meals there. I have gotten the kids meal for a long time and now they tell me I can’t? There shouldn’t be an age limit. They also gave both me and my cousin food poisoning.
Actually did not like this place at all, I ordered 1 Hand roll, gyoza, house salad, spicy Kani salad and the spicy rock shrimp and the only thing I actually ate and liked was the kani salad, everything else was bland, the ginger dressing was white and watery, just terrible, the shrimp tasted old. I would never order again honestly. The service is good though, the lady at the front desk was very nice taking our orders.
Extremely disappointing experience. Food was expensive and worse than mediocre. Three dollars for a "pork egg roll" that had no pork. 15 and 16 dollars for sushi rolls that were very small and warm. 16 for terrible, soggy General Tso chicken that tasted weirdly gamey 😳. We spent 77.00 dollars for really bad food. We don't mind paying a premium for quality food, but this? This was seriously subpar. To add insult to injury, on top of the 3.99 delivery fee, they tacked on 11.38 as a "service charge." Never again.
We ordered Sushi and Tuna Tataki. The tuna was gray and chewy, definitely not fresh. I ordered four different rolls and only one roll was edible. My stomach was in knots after eating. On top of the food being horrible the bill came with 20% gratuities added already. I don’t normally leave reviews but I felt like I had to say something.
I discovered this place and the food is good, although the service is bad. I've bought food there many times, and they used to include the soy sauce and sriracha sauce for free. These last few times, they've charged me $1 for each item. It seems like each person working there charges whatever they want. Disappointed.
One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had….. waitress took down the order wrong, when we let her know, she said “that is what you ordered” and made us order the item a 2nd time and we were charged for both. When the main dinners came, they were horrendous…. Chicken Katsu was tough and dry….. was only able to eat one strip of it….pad Thai was a pile of mush. waitress ignored us while the food sat uneaten…. Came over and ask if we wanted boxes… we both declined and when I began to tell her the problem with the food she walked away. She proceeded to stand behind the bar, looking at her phone and then came over and dropped a check with everything. Never once asked how the food was, or why it was uneaten. I have never been treated so poorly or had a worse dinning experience in my life. Will never be back!!!!!!!!!
