Gladstone's Long beach Long Beach Reviews
It was great in the past. However, when I went with my parents on March 20, 2023, the waitress Lupita was a good server, but sadly, on the other hand, I was very disappointed with how the ribs and brisket turned out because the ribs were lacking meat and the brisket were a bit stiff, which I was especially disappointed with the brisket being stiff, and even worse, the manager didn't care. And now, when I went with my parents on Saturday, May 10, 2025, my parents thought the ribs were so-so, but the brisket rolls and egg rolls, on the other hand, were too chewy and not crunchy at all, the menu didn't show the prices for the appetizers, and the server never came back to ask if we needed water or anything else like any waiters and waitresses would normally do. With all that being said, my parents decided we're never coming back again. (sad sighs) Such a sad, sad shame that the quality of their food and their service nosedived and went downhill.
Came here on a Sunday with a couple of friends, and we loved it. We were seated right away. Water and drinks came out fast. We ordered the platter for two and still brought home leftovers. My wife loves the ribs and different sauces on your table. The environment & service are great!!
ARE YOU SERIOUS??? If you’re in the mood for some unforgettable BBQ, Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que is a must-visit, especially if you’re coming from out of town! I was visiting from Dallas, TX, and after hearing rave reviews from my uncle, I had to give it a try. I ordered the All American Platter but swapped the fried chicken for Bar-B-Q chicken, and it was a fantastic decision. The food was absolutely amazing! The ribs and beans were full of flavor—definitely “to die for.” And let me tell you, those cornbread muffins were the real stars: soft, sweet, and with just a touch of heat—so good they are “to kill for.” Honestly, I wish we had a Famous Dave’s in Dallas because I’d be there all the time. The atmosphere was also spot on: peaceful, relaxed, and welcoming, perfect for enjoying great food. I’m really hoping this location is still around next time I visit California because it’s already on my list for a return trip. If you’re in town, do yourself a favor and get the All American Platter—you won’t be disappointed!
My husband and I stumbled upon Famous Dave's for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. Cassandra, our server, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating. My husband opted for the 2 meat platter, choosing the mouthwatering combination of Texas Beef Brisket and Southside Rib Tips, served with a side of fries. I decided to go for the Chicken Chopped Salad with BBQ pulled chicken, which was absolutely delicious. We both couldn't resist the irresistible Cornbread muffin that came with our meal. Cassandra, with her persuasive charm, convinced us to try the bread pudding and ice cream for dessert. And oh boy, it was the best decision we made! The flavors were simply divine. We can't recommend Famous Dave's enough for a great dining experience.
This was my very first time trying barbecue — ever — and it couldn’t have been better! I’ve been pescatarian/vegetarian since 2008, so I wanted this to be special, and it absolutely was. Jason was amazing — he gave us great suggestions, encouraged us to step out of our comfort zone, and even let us sample a few things before ordering. We ended up getting the Burnt Ends and Texas Beef Brisket, and wow — the burnt ends literally melted in my mouth, and the brisket was so juicy and flavorful. We also tried the coleslaw, mac and cheese, and Wilbur Beans. The coleslaw was crisp and refreshing, the mac and cheese had just the right jalapeño kick, and the beans were smoky and rich. The banana pudding was also very delicious. So light and fluffy. The perfect way to end a meal. 10/10 — highly recommend coming here!
The GM was so very sweet. She made sure my family and I were taken care of on her way out. That made a heck of an impression on what was a special day for me. The staff were so kind and friendly to us and our baby, and the food was delicious. This is the kind of experience that’ll bring me back to a place that feels safe and welcoming for years and years. Also makes me proud to shop and dine in my hometown of Long Beach. Thank you all so very much. We will be back! :)
Had a nice meal at Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que while visiting long beach. The service was great, our drinks were always full, and the food was. Very good. My wife and I watched tv on the big screen and were able to talk without being drowned out by noise. Everything was very clean as well. I would recommend you check it out if you’re in the area!
The food was absolutely delicious, and I loved the quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were amazing—especially Crystal, who was a wonderful and very professional waitress.
The restaurant needs a deep cleaning everything is sticky and unclean. It smells horrible in here from walk in to bar to the restrooms. Nats flying in the dining room, moved outside and it was of course better. Bar is filthy and needs to be cleaned. Service was super slow and it wasn’t busy, Valentine’s Day with a light crowd and in sure the servers could make more money if they paid more attention to the clientele. The guys at the bar really need to learn customer service and need to be attentive to the people in front of them. Waiting 40min for warmed up bbq is a waste very disappointed. Edit: Youseff needs to be retrained or let go his service was the worst I’ve ever received anywhere. Truly horrible out him in the kitchen and not around guests eh
Not real happy here. Used to love Dave's. We got takeout. Pork was over salted. Portions felt small. They left out a side. No longer has their delicious pecan pie except "holidays." Went there for the pie. LOL
The hostess had a personality like wet rag. The 1st seemed friendly but vanished with our saying anything. We waited for our for 20 minutes until we flagged another waitress. She ended up giving us the wrong bill. The food was decent but based on the hideous service I am never going back!
Service at the bar was really slow and food all tastes like ketchup. If you’re at the pike go somewhere else to eat the food trucks across the street give better service and food. Sadly disappointed need to change the two guys at the bar cause they’re making you lose business you need impeccable food for this type of service like was this a Jamaican restaurant or bbq with hospitality lol. Beware do not come here
Horrible service. One person trying to wait on half the restaurant. So you never see her. The fried chicken was good but way over priced. The ribs tips were stale and hard. Ribs are hit and miss. Sometimes good. Other times dry.
I was really looking forward to a BBQ meal, but the pork rib tips and brisket completely ruined the experience. Instead of that tender, fall-off-the-bone texture you expect for rib tips, they were tough and unpleasantly fatty. The brisket wasn’t much better. The fat hadn’t rendered down properly, leaving it greasy and hard to swallow. Good brisket should melt in your mouth with a smoky crust and juicy interior — this was more like something that had been pulled from the smoker too early. For a BBQ joint, properly cooking the meat should be non-negotiable. Why is there corn in the mac and cheese?! Some things just don’t need reinventing — and creamy, cheesy mac is one of them. The corn adds a weird sweetness and crunch that doesn’t belong with all that gooey cheese. It’s like two sides collided on the plate and someone decided to call it innovation. I’ll give points for creativity, but honestly, I just want my mac and cheese to taste like… well, mac and cheese. The collard greens were pretty bland; they needed more seasoning, maybe a bit of salt, spice, or smoked flavor to bring them to life. Unfortunately, Famous Dave’s did not have my palate in mind.
Very disappointing experience. The brisket was extremely tough and nearly impossible to chew… it felt like it had been smoked days ago and reheated. To make matters worse, not once did the server check in to ask how our food was or offer refills. Overall, the quality and service were far below expectations.
The food here was disgusting. The brisket was like small hard pieces of flavorless meat between a web of jelly. The beans were in a greasy liquid. The corn on the cob was basically desiccated. The chicken was okay, pulled pork okay and the cornbread good. We paid over $100 for that meal and it wasn’t worth it in the slightest. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside and the table cloths had MOLD on them. When we asked if we could have a new table cloth they said they don’t have any. We checked all the tables and they all had mold. Our server (who was also the bartender) tried to wipe it away, but you could tell they had been like this for a while. Never recommending and never going back to a Famous Dave’s anywhere again.
Popped in on a quiet Friday afternoon, place was quiet but looked the part inside... brisket sandwich and pulled chicken sandwich ordered... beers and food came very quickly. The brisket was awful... at best can best described as bits that were ready for the bin from previous cooks chopped up, heated up and popped on a bun. Not tender at all and not what a smokehouse should be offering. Friend said chicken was good. On a plus their bbq sauces where very very good but unfortunately they were badly needed for the brisket
Sunday afternoon they had reruns running on the TVs in the bar one small TV had football games on. I asked for my salad wings out first everything came out at one time. It was cold. The bartender was not very nice at all. We never got water we asked for other things that never came. Just absolutely horrible. I’ve been in famous days in Phoenix many times as wonderful. This place is a joke.
I went to the restaurant and the menu had some delicious looking food however, when my food came, all I had is four piece of chicken, cornbread beans, and fries. How can that possibly be messed up? I will tell you how the chicken appeared to look like some cooked up I don’t know what but I couldn’t even take a bite into the chicken because it was so hard that we would’ve probably broken my teeth, and when I peeled it with those burnt crispy things off the bone, I looked, and the bone was burnt. Only in my thought was that this had been cooked and re-cooked it was horrible. I couldn’t eat. The only reason I’m given the staff of one star is cause I was seated. I can’t give a star on the restaurant. There’s no stars for the food and when I had mentioned this to my waitress and the young man waiter, he just rolled his eyes like whatever and walked away, and then both of them just laughed at that point I asked for the manager who wanted to look at the food and I’m showing her actually I picked up the chicken and said could you eat this? I was refunded the meal. You don’t have to do this and then I’m gonna refund everything except the soda. I’ll comp the meal but not the soda. OK that’s fine. Weird but OK I do not recommend this restaurant within five minutes of leaving. I had taken a couple bites into the cornbread. I was immediately sick. I felt like I had food poisoning from the corn bed and the bite. I did eat from the inside of the chicken Perhaps if it was chicken. I had tried to take a bite from the inside of the chicken, but it was so hard. It couldn’t be chewed, but I was immediately sick for a few hours after you eaten those few bites if I could even call them and bites of whatever that was, that was on my plate because it did not look like Chicken.
Took 20 minutes just to get a server. Took 40 minutes just to get our food. The place was not very busy. Other tables around us sat with dirty dishes and cups the whole time we were there. I’ve owned and operated restaurants in the past and I know it starts w management first and servers 2nd. Food was subpar. I do not recommend this place. This place needs to do better!
