Mi Espiguita Long Island City Reviews
Somehow the online order was not received, so our wait was much longer than expected. Boooo! But once the order was ready, we were off to the races! We ordered the $1 Tacos (5 chicken and 5 pork) which come just the taco shell and meat, so adding toppings increases the price. We added onion, cheese, crema and avocado, so the total was 17$, a bargain for 10 tacos, and they don't skimp on the proteins, either. We added the Ramen Birria Combo, which came with a Birria Taco. Everything was so delicious, with the Birria taco and broth really shining. The ramen noodles were the basic Cup Noodles noodles, but not overcooked with some bite. And tons of meat in the ramen! The chicken tacos were better than the pork, but both really good. This spot was a definite winner. Strong 4.5++ out of 5.
The flavors are comforting and memorable. It feels like a meal made with passion.
Let me just start by saying my Mexican parents put me on to this place, and that should tell you something about authenticity. The food portions are super generous considering the pricing. This place is overlooked, but if you’re ever in the area, you should definitely visit, it is incredibly worth it.
Recently came here and it’s one of the best Mexican restaurants you go to probably the best in Astoria. Everyone is nice here and they make your food pretty quickly. They are usually busy so I highly recommend ordering online to skip the line like I did. 10/10
Actual Mexican food. Don't expect taco bell or fake flavors. Been coming here for more than 20 years, wonderful authentic Mexican food. Now they're charging for extra salsa which I'm not fond of but overall food is spectacular. I get the steak nachos which is technically not Mexican but the flavors are definitely there. Salsa is spicy, not that fake taco bell stuff.
This is my favorite Taco spot in NYC!! They have great food at pretty reasonable prices. The Tacos are good and authentic. The chicken Tacos are my favorite. The Staff are very friendly and the restraunt looks pretty nice. The meats taste fresh and the tortillas don't break easily which is good. I recommend and continue to recommend this place to anyone looking for good authentic Tacos at a decent price!!
Great local busy place. Remember folks Mexican food isn't made to travel and especially not well during the winter of 20-21, so! Plan accordingly! I had the 3 chicken flautas (aka rolled tacos) with rice and beans for $7 today. Excellent all over! The rice and refried beans were excellent. Just like mom makes! And the crispy rolled tacos were filled with chicken just like I have in San Diego. Since this was my first time having that, I look forward to going back to make sure it wasn't a one off and they are just as good the second time. Party on. Hasta pronto.
i stopped by mi espiguita in astoria and the staff were rlly sweet. the homemade tortillas and refried beans were yummy and tasted super fresh. everything else had absolutely no seasoning, ngl like not a single speck, but the service was great and they were super super kind the whole time.
Good, not great. Had a burrito de al pastor. Very large burrito, but too heavy on the lettuce. Didn't have any sauce in it (they do include a container of green sauce, but it wasn't spicy or terribly flavorful). Most of the flavor was on one side of the burrito, otherwise it was a bit more bland than what I was expecting. But still satisfying overall and probably better and more reasonably priced than the competition in the area. If you're craving Mexican and you're nearby, I'd give this place a try, just don't expect it to blow your mind.
It's hard to judge a Mexican food if you never had real Mexican food "in Mexico" I am Mexican and I can tell you the food is just OK, could be better, much better. My highest complaint is the "huaraches" the tortillita is never cooked good and is something basic for Mexican food. Price is good and people is friendly.
the food is amazing, but the service on the phone is terrible absolutely terrible, I call to make an delivery order, the woman that answered the phone put me on hold for like 10 minutes, I dictate to hung up and call back, I let her know that she forgot me on the phone, she dint even apologize herself. Instead she say that she had no time to waste doing things like that, She was very rude with me on the phone, I ended up ordering the food because we were very hungry, Otherwise I’ll never order again, I never write review on restaurants But this time I need it to do it
Ok, the burrito has the size of a little dog. But my order missed flavor in my opinion, and yet it was packed with many ingredients I could not identify - separatly or mixed.
EDIT: Removing the one star I gave for friendly service because the restaurant’s response to my balanced review is unconscionably rude (see below). Don’t give your money to these jerks. And if you have any doubt about who to trust, go ahead and check out the MANY other reviews I have written advocating for local businesses. Original: I had high hopes for this place because it’s always pretty busy and smells amazing inside. Service was very friendly, but the food took a lot longer than you’d expect given that it’s a takeout place, and it all turned out to be really disappointing. My burrito had several big, thick cilantro stems inside, very little flavor, and was very skimpy on beans, cheese, etc. My tostadas, which were supposed to be just chorizo, also had two or three accidental chunks of other mystery meat on them. I don’t know what was happening with my bf’s fajitas, but they were not really fajitas, just a big container of rice with some tortillas on top that had a little meat inside. Awarding one extra star because the prices are good for the area and the staff friendly as mentioned, but I’d strongly recommend against eating here.
