Phil's Deli Los Angeles Reviews
Phil's Deli and Grill surely knows how to cook! Strongly recommend their Pastrami Special, remember, go for the Special edition, which replaces sauerkraut by using coleslaw instead, and it worked so well that you get the richness from the pastrami, and the lightness from the coleslaw. And the chemistry works so well that you'll not stop having the next bite of it. 😋
The original pastrami is the way to go. Im sure other items are just as great but this place is known for this sandwich. Crowds are hit or miss depending on the day and time.
This place is great. Service is even better. I had the pastrami with fries, and my wife had the avocado cheese omelet. The food was delicious. In the of the farmers market at the Grove. They will also validate your parking ticket. Great people. 👍🏼
20 bucks for a pastrami reuben and fries! Not bad. The sandwich was spectacular. I would say its only 2nd to the #19 from Langers. Size is much smaller but it was delicious! Nice staff.
Food street hawker. Alfresco sitting and open concept - buy your food, find a seat and eat. The Philly Cheese Steam Sandwich @ US$17.95 (Combo) was a good meal for me. The beef was well seasoned and prepared. Top with cheese between baguette. My personal favourite. Pastrami Sandwich @ $US$18.45 (Combo) was my daughter’s lunch. Smoked beef between whole meal bread. Prices are before taxes and gratuity. Be prepared to look for seats before ordering. Tend to get crowded during meal times.
I stopped here early one morning seeking breakfast 😋 and guess what I found? Yes a really good breakfast with some of best people who work here, with their dedicated work ethics along with great customer skills, I liked the cook 🍳 😀 what he made was the best scramble eggs in town or was it that I had not ate eggs or had breakfast for 2 months or so that made it delicious but after I went and brought some eggs 😋 they didn't taste like theirs. I guess you get really good when it's served all day. Thank you to all of you 😘 You gonna read some unflattering comments, but I found what I had to be perfectly good 👍 even the French toast. I couldn't complain about yeap I've seen that comment.
Great spot with super friendly staff! Since we had already eaten quite a bit at the Farmers Market, we just ordered a hot dog and shared a Philly cheesesteak between two people—both were excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Definitely a gem in the Farmers Market.
This spot was such a great find at the farmers market! The staff was absolutely AMAZING —super friendly and welcoming, especially the older gentleman who stood out with his kindness. The portions were generous, easily big enough to share. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Recently moved from NYC to LA and came here for looking for some comfort deli food, and I found exactly what I wanted. Ordered a patty melt, but had a menu full of great options including corned beef and pastrami. Probably not the healthiest, but if you want some great burgers and sandwiches, Phil’s delivers. The service was excellent too.
Good no frills spot at the original l.a farmers market.

Warm, hearty breakfast fare a cut above your run-of-the-mill diner's. I had the bacon and cheese omelet served with hash browns and what toast, plus a cup of California sunshine (OJ for the unimaginative). In addition, the counter dynamic in the heart of the Farmer's Market makes it a great starting point to fuel you explorations in L.A. Would it be excessive if I went two days in a row?
Got recommended this place by one of those 'A Day in L.A' Bus tour guides, and this was the highlight of my vacation. Got a Philly cheese steak, and was exceptionally good. Awesome serving sizes for a relativly cheap price. A must stop for anyone visiting this market.
Phil’s Diner at the Farmers Market is one of my go-to spots. I’m a big fan of their classic breakfast — always tasty and just what you want from a diner. And their tuna melt? So good. Perfectly crispy, cheesy, and super satisfying. Great vibe, friendly staff, and solid food every time. Definitely worth checking out!
Phil’s is a solid spot for diner style comfort food. The have great breakfast options and the omelets are large and hash browns cooked perfectly. For lunch the Philly Chicken Cheesesteak Sandwich is has great flavor and perfect combo of meat, veggies and cheese. Shoestring Fries are solid!

Stopped here on a whim for breakfast while in vacation and visiting the Market. Food was so good, I dragged my spouse back the next morning for breakfast and we both agreed it was one of the best breakfasts we’ve had on this trip! I did takeout on the first day and ate in the market on the second day, the atmosphere of the market is truly unique and relaxed. I was impressed with how clean and authentic it is. Highly recommend!
Ah! Pretty good place! Great service! Great food! Pretty quick! I mean what else can I say? The hot dog buns were toasted just right, and the french fries were salted just right, and thinly cut, nice and crispy!
Value for money. Ordered the breakfast set. Pastrami and egg. Could choose either sunny side up or scrambled eggs. Also either hash brown or tomatoes. And toasted bread. Pastrami was a bit oily for my liking. But overall the set was good. Also tried the Reuben sandwich. Yummy.
I just found the food here slightly off the mark for me. It isn't bad, ut isn't great also. Just probably. need a bit more seasoning for the fish tacos and it would make everything better. Also had a half-dozen oysters which were fresh, but I feel slightly over priced. Still, deserving of a 4-star from me.

There were so many different shops, and the place was packed and full of energy. It was really fun. At my son’s request, we chose to get hamburgers. We ordered a cheeseburger and a mushroom Swiss cheeseburger, both as combos. The burgers were huge and delicious, with lots of fresh tomatoes and lettuce.

If you’re in a bind and you need to eat a pastrami sandwich, then I guess this could work. Fine for what it was, but I wouldn’t go back. Girlfriend is nodding her head an approval.
French Dip sandwich meat was super dry. Staff was completely apathetic. The veggie sandwich was okay but the swiss cheese was super dry and tasted old. Overall disappointing and overpriced. I understand there's a lot of inflation but that's exactly why you need to try harder. If your food is meh and your staff is meh and your ingredients are subpar.... we have other choices.

I came to Phil’s Deli & Grill during my vacation, and my experience was terrible. The meat was not fresh, which made me very sick. I suffered from severe stomach pain and vomiting, and I couldn’t enjoy my vacation because of this. I’m extremely disappointed because I had heard good things about this place, but it completely ruined my trip.
