Soowon Galbi Los Angeles Reviews
This is my go to place in K Town for BBQ! Always busy for dinner so be prepared to wait. It’s worth it. Street parking is a pain but they have valet parking. I always find the place by looking for the chicken place sign! Jalapeño Chicken 🐓🍗😁The place is clean, the service is fast but not too friendly. The meat must be USDA Prime or quality Choice. Unlike most Korean BBQ joints they actually cook the food to perfection for you. 😋🥩🍖 The side dishes are amazing! Fresh and tasty. Lunch is a good time to go to avoid the crowds.
One of the best KBBQ places in LA. Make reservations because sometimes it gets very busy.
Delicious! Combo B + dwenjang jjigae + bibim naengmyun + 2 extra rice were surprisingly decent amount for 4 adults and 3 kids (though we weren't like absolutely full or anything). Reservation totally helped. Parking for $4. Pretty loud but that was a plus for our family with young kids who can't keep quiet.
Should be a see-ya-next time Korean BBQ place. I went with two other friends so we divided with an ok price per person, still pricy but definitely worth it. The meat is very fresh and chewy with unlimited appetite set. My favorite is the kimchi and cucumber. Omg this is soooo good! Definitely bring more friends there. Parking is hell as it’s in K town.
We arrived a quarter past opening and were seated immediately this past Sunday. We order combo A and their signature spicy pork bibimbap. Everything was delicious: their side dishes, flavorful meat cuts, and wonderful service. We really enjoyed that they took care of the grilling and cutting. We had enough food for the party of three. What I love most about this experience is how flavorful and juicy the meats were, and also I loved the kimchi! Delicious! I would return when I'm nearby. Although parking is limited, the valet attendant was really friendly and quick to help us.
Soowon Galbi offers the best marinated galbi in town. The flavors are rich and perfectly balanced, making each bite a delight. The service is attentive and friendly, ensuring a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance is inviting and comfortable, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Highly recommend for anyone looking to savor top-notch Korean BBQ!
Oohh yeah baby , only come here if you want to feast like a king ! The meats, prime quality ! Wow ! Salad and the side dishes are delicious . The best part THEY cook it for you ! Bennyhanna style ! Good selection of beer , and even better selection on the meats . One more thing ! We had the " Pancake" and the glass noodles...to die for ! Bring friends , best place to eat , drink and be merry!
Amazing banchan and galbi. Worth to pay additional $7 for ssam wrap. I'd skip on the neng myun, I've had better elsewhere
Soowon is a ktown classic that is as good now as it was years ago. It has some of the best and most unique banchan in town, an amazing kalbi tang, and great pajeon. They take reservations too which is nice. Service is usually good and efficient. It's a great spot to take family.
The flavors are truly amazing. The savory flavor of Wagyu beef and the sweetness of marinated short ribs are a fatal hit for my palate today at Suwon Galbi.
Highly recommend this place! I was going to give them four stars because my waiter was kind of cold at first but once he warmed up to is he was awesome.. If you regularly goto all you can eat the price seems a bit high although it is well worth the money it was a party of three and we paid about $145 and it was money well spent. 😁
There are so many Korean BBQ restaurants in LA. And choosing a good BBQ place can be overwhelming. Well, look no further if you want the best galbi in LA. Soowon Galbi is the best. It's not all you can eat and a bit pricey ($49 for plain galbi and $46 for 48hr marinated galbi) but the portions are big and you won't come out hungry. In fact, the table next to us could not finish theirs so the offered a half order of galbi to us. Also the side dishes are very tasty and they provide soup and rice for little kids. Coincidentally, city of Soowon in Korea is also known for galbi so the name does mean something. I highly recommend this place!
Great food. Abundance of meat. Amazing wait staff was attentive and great with cooking the meat on the grill. Valet parking on site which made it convenient. Highly recommended!
Hi Soowon Galbi... This is the only place I'm enjoying authentic Korean BBQ. Not because the cleanest environment but because of their quality meat maintenance. The marinated Galbi is the best of the best and the same taste from Korea high end bbq restaurant level. The marination is always fruity juicy and flavorfully toothsome, fingerlicking level. Very sophisticated veggies and Side dishes.. but one thing I always wanna recommend you is, please level up the soybean soup... you can make it better!! The side dishes always neat and scrumptious, and you may notice already, also this place is not using plastics at all. Because of the grilling, still having hard time to get out from the odors but quite a little bit would be on your clothing. Yesterday I was with very important quest of mine, but small incident happened , the female manager figured out quite smoothly.. appreciate it. Still absolutely would come back with my love again.
There’s nothing to say but “simply amazing”. When we got there, there was already a lineup starting to form and after waiting for 40 minutes we finally got in. It didn’t take us long to order and even less time for them to serve up the food. The waiter and waitress seemed to be in some sort of dance as one would start and the other would finish. No gaps, no reasons to wait, the food was cooked perfectly and all the food was presented neatly. Just simply amazing. I’ve tried to eat this type of meal before at another restaurant in Richmond BC Canada and it was a dismal failure. I have to say that this Restaraunt is extremely well run with a host that would even sweat if the sky was falling. 5 stars for sure.
Giving it 5 stars. Food quality is on par to the top bbq places in Ktown. The ambiance might need some work. You are not in Chapman Plaza nor the trendy tourist trap of non Koreans at Parks BBQ....but what ypu get is nice outdoor seating with grills gas and charcoal. More importantly dogs are allowed for you dog owners what want a child place with quality food.
Great food including the side dishes. Service was amazing and well accommodating. Expensive but you can taste the difference. Valet is $5 fee.
Came here while visiting LA, got the combo B. There were three of us eating and it was a lot of food. Our server was excellent and cooked the meat to perfection. The meats were delicious and melted in your mouth !!! Went in a sat evening about 630, waited for 20 min before we got seated. Greatly enjoyed our evening !
This was my first time coming here, but I had such a great experience. My family and I came for a special occasion and decided to get Course D. First of all, the service here is A+. The waiter cooks the meat for you and helps you in every way they can, so if you're not familiar with KBBQ culture, Soonwon will definitely make you feel comfortable. All the meat and food was above average or excellent as well. The highlight of my meal was definitely the naengmyun, both the cold and spicy ones. You know it's a good naengmyun when you don't have to add any vinegar or spicy mustard, and this was exactly that. The noodles aren't included in the Course meal, but I would definitely recommend getting some.
One of my favorite kbbq spots in the city. A little on the pricier side but well worth it, some of the best quality meat and banchan in LA. Definitely get one of the meat combos and then if you're feeling extra fatty add on some appetizers or soups or entrees but usually that's not necessary. You can also order meat plates a la carte but it's better to do combos.
Very nice bbq restaurant. Clean food. One of the best in ktown.
Soowon galbi located in koreatown la is the spot to get galbi or short rib. Their combo B is $160 and feeds four people. It comes with 5 incredible meats including brisket, short rib, pork belly and marinated bone in and bone less short rib. They also have spicy cold noodles so I couldn’t resist. My must order is the saam set because I love making lettuce and perilla wraps with the meat. Their meat quality is pretty good and they come out juicy. Also a big plus that they cook for you here and they have a limited parking lot
Excellent quality meats, attentive and quick service, and a variety of fresh banchan. Valet parking was $4. Went for Saturday lunch at 1245pm and the place was full but we only waited about 5 mins. We ordered kalbi, pork jowl and bulgogi with lettuce for wrapping as a $7 add on. Plus seafood pancake, which was light and crispy. We got a soybean paste stew on the house. Fantastic service and food, will definately be back.
We had a special family gathering and one of the family members chose this place because of previous positive experience and after comparing it to other places in the area. True enough, it was a great dining experience. The Galbi was tender and juicy. Although all Korean BBQ places provide side dishes, this place has very unique side dishes like Green Pepper Kimchi and Cilantro Kimchi, which are so yummy and very distinct in taste. Atmosphere was great, service was even better. Will definitely go back.
Absolutely amazing KBBQ. Incredible meat quality, especially the marinated dishes. Banchan is solid and they have a surprisingly good black cod. Huge shoutout to John, he went above and beyond! He took time to make sure we understood the menu, recommended dishes, and was always around to answer questions and ensure the meat was cooked to our liking. Highly recommend asking for a table in his section if you can.
Best Korean BBQ in K-Town in my opinion. The quality of the meat is top-notch, everything is well-marinated, and the banchan are fresh and tasty. Service is fast and attentive, and the vibe makes the whole experience even better. Definitely my go-to spot!
I’m always looking for the restaurant make me feel it worths to dine out. And this is the place. The ingredients quality is very good and no over price on service and atmosphere. Worth every penny.
The Family and I tried this restaurant out on a Thursday night and the food and service was among some of the best I've ever experienced. Parking was vallet only but was only 5 bucks. Overall Amazing experience.
Excellent Korean BBQ with consistently high quality meat. The galbi is well marinated, tender, and cooked properly. Banchan selection is fresh and well balanced. Service is attentive and efficient without being intrusive. Clean dining area and a classic Korean BBQ atmosphere. A reliable choice for traditional galbi.
What a wonderful Korean restaurant. Yes the BBQ is fantastic, with several options including shrimp chicken and veggies for those who don't eat beef or pork. But the banchan and other a la carte items are also fantastic! Even the stew and salad that comes with the meal were extremely tasty and not an afterthought. Definitely worth a visit!
Legit the best experience I’ve had at a KBBQ! All of my senses were elevated, specifically in regard to the the quality of the meats/food. The decor was an upgrade and it was so nice and clean. The service was also great, they were attentive and nice. They even help cook the meat. Make sure you try their signature Galbi dish (marinated)… it literally melts in your mouth! The banchan was also different- so much variety! Next time I want to try their meat combination boxes. The dumplings are also worth it… comes with a delicious dipping sauce. I can tell time, effort and love were put into the preparation of the sauces. I noticed the sesame sauce had garlic and salt flavors- the perfect umami! I definitely left full and happy.
Came here as our first food stop in LA and blew away our expectations. We were thinking about getting Course B, but our server let us know that Course A would be better for 2 people. Our favorites were the short rib and the beef bulgogi. The short rib was buttery and the bulgogi was extremely flavorful. We’ve never been a fan on banchan, but we weren’t disappointed by the selection we had.
Ordered the Galbi, cold noodles and soup for dinner. Quality of the Galbi was very good but it was pricy. Our waiter was an expert at grilling it patiently and cut it up for us. The hilight for the dinner was the cold noodles. It was light, refreshing and the noodles were so chewy and delicious. It's best to eat this as soon as it arrives otherwise the texture of the noodles change as it sits in the broth. The soup was average. Parking in the small lot is Valet.
The quality of the meats here is above average. Not great. Honestly I expected it to be better but it was still very good. What really stood out for me was the BonChon. Lots of good high quality options. Also the plain white rice was probably the best I’ve had. For some reason that really stood out to me. I’d come back and would definitely enjoy more of the BonChon. Only valet parking is available. You may try your luck with street parking but it’s a very busy area. They do have a few tables setup on the outside for those who feel more comfortable eating outdoors. Not sure how long that will be available though.
Really good! The only thing is it is a bit pricey. However you get a ton of side dishes and a salad and other service items based on your order. The portion sizes are huge and quality is 10/10. We got sat right away and the food came out quickly. And they’re open on Sunday’s. Parking is limited but you can park/shop in Zion Market next door and then head over to eat. (At least that’s what we did.)
I had been wanting to try Soowon Galbi for some time, but hadn't gotten around to it, because there are just so many kbbq restaurants and SWG is kind of in an unsavory neighborhood. Well the interior actually looks quite appealing compared to the exterior. Almost every table is its own little walled off booth with a grill in the center. so that gets pretty cozy. We ordered the $115 Combo B, which includes marinated prime beef galbi, prime short rib, seasoned prime short rib w/ sesame oil, choice of pork neck or pork belly, brisket, soup, rice, salad. When I asked my friend whether we should get pork neck or belly, he replied: 'Belly of course, what kind of question is that?' He makes a good point. It turned out to be quite a heavy amount of food for three people. All the meat was beautifully marbled. It was juicy, tender, and succulent, albeit a little on the expensive side. I learned that you can get rice paper and salted sesame oil on request, which you can actually request at any kbbq restaurant. Tip: If you do park here and pay for valet, the valet service ends at 10PM, at which time the attendant is gone and your keys go unguarded. I don't know if this is typical in other lots, but if you didn't know... now you know.
Oh man, so conflicted between 4 or 5 stars. 4 stars because this place is soo pricey. 5 stars cause it tastes soo good 😂 I’ve had 꽃살 at other places that’s much cheaper and tastes just as good if not better. But the suwon galbi specialty def lives up to its name. I think they could let it cook a little bit more they cut and stir it around on the grill. Also, all their banchan is on point. We spent a good $400+ with 5 dishes, 3 naengmyun, and a soju.
Soowon Galbi offers a solid Korean BBQ experience. 👍 We ordered Course B, which was a good amount of food for two adults and a teenager. However, the quality of the meat was just okay. We also found it a bit confusing that the servers didn't explain what cuts of meat they were grilling for us. Make reservation ahead to secure your seat!
Came here on a Thursday at around 5:30 and there was already a line! You can only get on the waitlist in store. We ordered combo D and a seafood pancake for a party of 4. The seafood pancake (5/5) with/without the sauce it comes with is super delicious. I highly recommend it. The banchan (5/5) was also good. They don’t have mashed potato though, nor do they have rice paper. The meat (4/5) was actually lighter in flavor than I expected—the best being the chadol and galbi. They do the grilling for you. There’s parking around the block and they also have valet. We parked across from Zion market, which is actually located right next to Soowon Galbi.
Extremely good service. Attentive staff who will literally cook everything for you. Food was good but soup was a disappointment. As a Korean soup lover, I tend to be very critical when it comes to soup, and was by far worst I have had in a Korean restaurant. Valet parking made it easy for us to enjoy the experience. Go for early dinner to avoid dinner rush.
outstanding quality meat and service. We got the Option A the crew was very attendtive and all business, and the meat was outstanding, as was the sides. the ventilation was really top notch, so i didn't smell like a short order cook afterwards ! the bathrooms had mouthwash which i thought was odd until after i ate and realized i smelt like a garlic bulb. Not surprising, given the name, Galbi (bone-in short rib) is the house speciality and it's very very good, and the bulgogi was outstanding too. The sides were very fresh, i loved the cucumber in particular. Next time I'll get the noodles -- the bibim naeng myun (Buckwheat noodles in a sweet and spicy sauce with asian pear, cucumber radishes and half a boiled egg. Served with horseradish and vinegar) looked very good , although i don't know the difference between that and the mool naeng myun...
Had a great time visiting people I know here. I love the various dishes available, but especially liked the quality of the various cuts of beef. Great server too!
$165 Course B, pork jawl. $22 Scallion Pancake Seafood. Would not recommend this. $8 Steam Egg. $15 Makgeoli sparkling rice wine. Great service. Enough food for 4ppl. Apparently, I visiteed so long ago. I guess I was too stuck up before? Due to my mom and family friend's expectations? I think most ppl go to Buena Park for decent traditional good kbbq. It's been awhile since I've been to kkbq. Thanks to yelper Henry K. for suggesting this place. I'm less picky due to less opportunities. And seem to be around friends who didn't grow up around Koreans. I wouldn't expect this place to be incredible but it's decent. I could come back again. Looking forward to trying their cold noodles next time.
This place is good and really busy. You need to write your name down on the sheet and wait for a table to be free. It’s a in and out system - I think we waited no more than 30m to get down and have our food at the table. We went a bit later though like 8:45 or 9pm? Things quietened down the later it got. We ordered loads of food and all 6 of us felt full afterwards. A good variety of side dishes - I’d recommend but it’s quite pricey though! Also free parking out front👍
Will retue Led here by a Korean, who led here by the partners. Simple decor, decent space, efficient service: they don’t exactly cater to you, which is fine with me. The stem is pretty good, so is their house red. Food quality is good. Pork belly is the weakest link in the Comb B. One of the beef is on the sweet side, so are couple of sides. Leave your Chanel suit at home - the ventilation is poor, even they changed our grill midway. The smoke is visible. We went in an odd hour but the restaurant wasn’t empty.
Went to this restaurant due to its 4.5 star review. We were there for dinner, we were seated immediately upon our arrival. Our server provided the menus and return quickly and told us to hurry up and make selection. We were stunted but decided to stay. We were tried from a long day. We placed our order and food was served quickly. The food was delicious. We had a couple of leftovers and we asked the server if we can have rice with it, his response was “let me check to see if have any rice”. The overall dinning experience was rushed. Will not be returning to this establishment.
Used to be good, before the renovations. The quality of the meat has gone way down. Ordered the usual house staple galbi, and the marinade they make here is beyond tasty, I’ll give them that. However, what good is the marinade if it’s on fatty, low quality meat, that you have to cut out while you’re eating? What a shame, been coming here for years with my family to celebrate birthdays and holidays. I hope they go back to using better quality ingredients. Especially for the $$$ price they charge, it should be nothing but primo meat!
A single serving of Suwon Galbi costs $69. While the taste was the same, the portion size felt smaller. The variety of side dishes also seemed smaller. The gochujang stew didn't taste the same as before, so I skipped it and just threw it away.
Ordered a few dishes to share like the kimchi pajeon, japchae, ttukbokgi, and sundubu jjigae, and was extremely disappointed. Just a lot of sugar, no depth of flavors, I’m Korean so I know Korean food, and that was very disappointing. In fact, we left the dinner early to go to BCD Tofu House down the street, which never disappoints.
Although Michelin Guide in 2019, it did not protrude the experience we were hoping for. The quality of the meats were good - overpriced compared to other KTown bbq restaurants, the banchan was normal, and overall service was normal too. However, the ventilation in the restaurant was severely lacking, I’m not sure if the hoods were working; furthermore, whilst in the middle of dining, there was a pipe cleaning in the middle of the hallway - dirty tissues and murky waters were on the ground, it certainly did not appeal to our group or to others.
This place is thriving, but my experience wasn't the best. The decor is outdated with cracked seats, my table had streaks of oil around, with uncleaned grill, and the ventilated air smelled like wet socks. The server kept lowering the heat while the meat was still being cooked, to probably avoid the grill getting charred, the prolonged cooking made the meat very chewy. The marinated meat was good, but the owner really should invest on the interior. Not the first Korean Barbecue place I would go to, or the second, or the third.
This place used to be so amazing I’m not sure what happened seems like they remodeled may be the ownership changed but even the food changed. Meet quality wasn’t good and nothing tastes like before the kimchi very different so was the kimchi jigsaw. None of the meats very delicious. The place had a cold vibe and staff barely y aerators any English
