The Escondite Los Angeles Reviews
Great food, Nice selection of beer! Love this place!
Had a hell of a time cool fun spot very good prices. Bartenders are nice and are good at their jobs.
Very Chicago themed!! Love all the Malort references as a Chicago girl myself. Live music too.
Somewhat narrow space with the stage on one end. Indoor seating is high stools towards the stage, a few booth and tables towards the back. Plenty of outdoor seating with tables. Bathrooms are clean. Food is pretty good and served quickly. It's on the very border of Skid Row and Little Tokyo so the paid, gated lot with an attendant is great. If you take a scooter you'll have to park it up the block on 3rd. That view though is, quite honestly, really nice. Totally worth visiting at least once.
One of the best bars in Los Angeles. Cheap drinks, live music and more often than not the Playlist they've got streaming isn't flaming hot garbage.
Groovy alternative + underground music including live bands on weekends. Cool dark atmosphere inside with lots of red lighting + crazy animal trophy heads on walls, sort of a weird David Lynch hunting vibe that's hip right now. Bar looks very legit old school fancy wood from old times. There's a nice, large covered outdoor seating area with fire burners for extra ambience. Fun menu of good bar food like smash burgers, wings, fries, fish + chips, etc. which are on special deals during Happy Hour (until 8pm). Big variety of beers + spirits. I like the deal on ice cold Hamm's tall boys for only $6! Great place to bring a date or to meet friends. Lots of hip folks, slackers, rockers, artists + the like come here + keep things entertaining. FREE PARKING in their own parking lot right there. How great is that?? Nice staff too. Escondite is always free to get in, even when they have bands! Outdoor patio is dog friendly.
Awesome Chicago style & themed bar, killer ambience inside, outdoor section and extra picnic benches out front to chill with crew. Live bands & music, Malort shots, antler chandeliers, Old Style, and all! Dog friendly too but bring earmuffs for them, it might get loud. Don't pass it up, drop in for a pint, it's worth the adventure!
Great time here. Meticulously decorated, has a saloon/tavern vibe that I was looking for in LA. It seems like they have free live music all the time, which is fantastic. It is adjacent to skid row so be smart about how you're traveling to and from. There is no clear signage - look for the opening in their gated parking lot. The parking lot patio has a grungy LA vibe with an outdoor smoking area. If you're not a fan of the live bands, they seem to have a deejay outside in the covered patio area playing dance tunes. There was a random fire dancer performing when we were there, not sure how often that happens, but I guess anything can happen in LA!
Part live music venue, part sports bar & part pub with a diner menu, it's the DTLA hangout for locals. Great wings, loaded fries, subs, tacos, fish & chips, burritos, & fun twists on burger favorites, like the Captain Kangaroo: gravy smothered hash browns & egg on a patty or the Dolly Parton: buffalo sauced, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich & one of my favorites, the John Bleu Cheese burger that is battered, deep fried, tossed in buffalo wing sauce, then topped with bleu cheese. Brunch on weekends also has delicious versions of local specials, like chicken & waffles, chilaquiles, breakfast burritos & huevos rancheros. The vegetarian & vegan options like, buffalo mushrooms, jackfruit tacos, Beyond Burgers or veggie chili are just as delicious. Great selection of beer, full bar cocktails & fun drink specials, all at affordable prices, makes this a second home for many. Indoor & outdoor seating areas & dog friendly with easy parking. Kid friendly eatery during the day & in the outdoor areas, but it becomes a bar (ID required) in the evenings.
My husband and I almost left (I think we showed up during a shift change) but we're SO glad we didn't! The person we believe is the owner/manager noticed we were stranded and served us two rounds of drinks like magic. This place delivers next-level ambiance with an epic DTLA skyline as a backdrop. We'll be back for those parking lot rockers!
Awesome place to come for uniquely made burgers. I got the the truck stopper which comes with mash potatoe, veggie gravy, and cheese, same on the fries. They are simply amazing! My wife got chillies cheese fries which is made from beef and beans. Those are also pretty amazing. This place also has a bar and play live music on certain days. Pretty solid place to come when in the little Tokyo area.
Love the staff. Love the vibe. Love the cartoons playing on the TVs. Love the food. The staff is always so kind to me and remembers where I like sitting and making for sure that my "Service Dog" (wolf) always is looked after and given ice to chew on which she loves. It typically has a fun band playing music. Even the bathrooms have cool decor. So grateful that this place would make its home right amongst Skid Row!!!
If you are a fan of Chicago sports, this is the place for you. The food is really good and the staff is extremely friendly. We came here with a regular who lives in the neighborhood and we were not disappointed. I had the Boss Hog which was really good. Obviously not going to be a healthy meal, but if you just don't care, eat here.
Just had a couple of beers but the server was super friendly and not pushy at all. Would absolutely go back again.
I ventured to this bar one Saturday night, drawn by the live streaming of the LA Derby Dolls bout, despite having no prior knowledge of its existence. Nestled away from the bustling nightspots of Little Tokyo and the Arts District, this establishment provides a unique, secluded atmosphere. What sets it apart is the affordability; the prices here are notably more reasonable than those of your typical Los Angeles bar. Upon my arrival, the bar was fairly empty, but the atmosphere rapidly came alive. The music through the bar speakers the exuded a classic rock vibe, adding to the ambiance. As for the interior decor, it defies a simple description, embracing an eclectic style that truly sets it apart.
