Tokyo Shokudo Los Angeles Reviews
Excellent eatery for Japanese curry and chicken karaage (fried chicken nuggets)! They made everything fresh so the meal is hot and delicious! We ordered one chicken katsu curry and one karaage. The karaage also comes with small side dishes like half egg, seaweed salad, shredded cabbage, miso soup and a bowl of rice. They also serve two different sauces for the cabbage and the chicken. Chicken is juicy and flavorful while the battering is not too heavy. The curry is also good with decent flavor. Both dishes are tasty and highly recommended!
Great addition to Mitsuwa Marketplace. Menu is still limited at this time since they recently opened. Got the katsu curry to go (pictured, curry on the side so not in picture). Good flavor, very moist meat with good crunch. The rice underneath is flavored with furikake.
Pretty delicious food. I tried the Fried chicken cutlet curry accompanied by sliced hard boiled egg, miso soup and rice. The curry gravy had a robust, dark slightly spicy smoky flavor. Nothing fancy here, just super good, cozy food that hits the spot on a winter night. Don’t forget to bring your vaccination card and photo ID if you were going to dine in at the food court
Love the chicken egg curry!! And my friend loves fired oysters.
Flavorful and affordable chicken teriyaki curry. I can’t believe how much food it came with.

We love this place! Everything we've had has been just right and so delicious. I cannot fathom why their rating is anything less than 5 stars because they have been the most consistently good Japanese food that we've gotten in this town over the last few years. We frequently drive over 40 minutes just to eat here and enjoy the market and bookstore.
I ordered the salted salmon but I got the grilled Mackerel instead. Either the cashier or the chef made a mistake but I wanna try that fish anyway so I took my order without saying anything. It turns out to be one of the best mistakes 😄 I really really love this bento box for lunch. The fish is grilled perfectly, crispy outside and ended inside. It goes really well with just simple salt and lemon. I always ask for a bit of extra salt on the side so I can seasoning the inside of the fish as I’m eating it. It becomes my go to lunch place. The portion is great! It doesn’t look like a lot but with fish and egg I have enough protein to feel full. It’s also pretty healthy since it also comes with veggies. I love coming here. Usually takes about 15min for the food to be ready.
Over the years, I believe this spot changed owners and names, but they never stopped making delicious cutlet curries, among other delightful, hearty Japanese plates. They have double cutlet plates now, which would be too much for me, but could be great for really hungry folks, or sharing perhaps.
The woman at the counter this evening was so lovely/nice; felt like being back in Japan. The currry was a little salty, but still very tasty, much like okasan used to make. A little fukujinzuke, some very fresh shredded cabbage, boiled egg, and a little nori sprinkled atop the rice were simple, fresh, & comforting. Both the pork & chicken katsu were tender enough to cut with the side of the plastic utensils provided; as well, the meats were moist. Though I mentioned salty, I will give them more chances because the service is wonderful, their food is clean, & all is presented well. Gochisosamadeshita.
The chicken katsu or cutlet plate was excellent. The sesame dressing on the salad is sooooo good. Includes some free side dishes. Good prices.

A comprehensive menu of Japanese comfort food. My set meal came with soup, pickles, and a seaweed mayo salad, but I really appreciated the size of the karaage. Huge chunks of fried meat covered in a spicy garlic sauce... loved the aggressive flavor. The miso katsu and yakiniku plates were also quite tasty according to my wife and mother-in-law. Before this, I'd only been to the Mitsuwa in Chicago and this one was SUPER chill by comparison, which I appreciated after a long day of driving.

Great taste, reasonable price, but long wait for food (15m).

Ordered food and it took 25 minutes and still not good
I had been there many times before they changed names. I’ve also been a number of time since the name change but tonight the pork katsudon was so shockingly bad/bland that I will not be back.
Ordered delivery. The curry taste was good but the chicken is very smelly and bad taste. Felt like the chicken has gone bad. Among the worst quality chicken I have had.

The food is alright but it doesn't look like the display. The amount of food you get is smaller than what you see on display. The curry fries just look sad. This is my second time going there. I thought I would give them another chance. But this will also be my last time. It's so not worth it. There are better places in that food court.

The food here was shamefully bad. I had Katsu, which was overcooked and lacked any flavor resembling pork. It was deep fried “meat.” I won’t even comment on the rice. I just got back from Japan and having gone to several fast food Katsu restaurants, maybe I have really high expectations. I don’t think I am being overly critical though. This is a Japanese owned establishment and they are throwing all of the potential of what this restaurant should be into the trash. It’s sad. Do they really take pride in charging money for food like this? Please do better for your customers and serve something that is good.
It's 30 min after the order still food was not ready than when we ask didn't reply properly. After 15 min again lady said food was coming total 45 min waiting, and then I saw all orders were ready after my one almost 10 orders .we ask again i m there close to that place."" See all of these things going, and she offered us a plate almost more than half hr on the counter we say this was not our order.in the .last our order come but food we order was different..OMG totally time pass after 1 hr waiting they gave us wrong order and cold food .be careful with this place before making an order and make sure what u order and what u get .Last thing they all did this drama jast bcoz I made customized tips ..Omg seamless people they make my daughter wait 1 hr for jast big tips .after all these food quality was soo bad .be careful before eat .
I didn't leave any tip and my dish was disgusting. Exactly the same dish, ordered from other people, that left a tip, was way better. The dish was pork curry cutlet. I could see, very clearly, my meat was super thin, almost non-existing. While the other people got a thick cutlet with lot of meat. Clearly, being so thin it was so dry and too much fried. The service was also clearly rude because they saw I didn't leave any tip so they didn't even call my number, the called the one before and after and then my tray was there. I had to go and tell him my number and then I got it. Compared with three other people and asked them if they left tip. They did. This place sucks
I’m sorry! But the teriyaki curry chicken was disgusting! Be warned, it looks nothing like the display case! The cabbage taste like bleach, the chicken tasted like, frozen microwaved. It’s pricey, $14, don’t do it!! I’m sorry it was just a disappointment! Go next door for better tempura dishes or to Santouka!
Ordered yakiniku delivery, was horrible taste and definitely undercooked cheapest cuts of fatty beef. Felt like eating undercooked worms and my stomach was upset afterwards. DO NOT ORDER.
