Báltico Luarca/Ḷḷuarca Reviews
We loved it, and not just the good service, but the cleanliness and speed. The food was delicious, but what was exquisite was the Luarca-style grilled octopus. They only give you whole legs, very large, and softer than butter, and it tasted like some of the best octopus I've ever eaten. I recommend it.
Highly recommended! My partner and I came on a Saturday night around 9:15 pm and they had space, but 15 minutes later there was even a queue for dinner! Everything was delicious. We ordered scallops, baby squid, half a cachopo of cecina (perfect amount), and a cheesecake for two, and we were delighted. Everything was delicious and homemade. The cachopo wasn't the best I've ever eaten because it's difficult to make, but the value for money was 10/10. We paid €66 with several drinks. A 10/10 service; they brought out the dishes very quickly, and a special mention to Adela, the waitress who treated us like royalty and who we'll always remember throughout the service with a smile from ear to ear... It's a pleasure to be treated like that! Thank you Adela!
I've been coming here for years for the set menu, and it's always delicious. 100% recommended. Plus, every single waiter and waitress is incredibly attentive. The only downside is that you can't make a reservation, and if you want to eat, they put you on a list, and it usually takes about half an hour to get a table, but it's still worth it. Homemade Asturian dishes, and absolutely delicious (I recommend the fabada and the escalopines with Cabrales cheese 😋). P.S. If you bring a dog, they'll seat you on the terrace without any problem!
The service was excellent, super attentive and they brought the dishes out at a good pace. We had fabada (Asturian bean stew) as a starter, anchovies and veal escalopes as a main course, and homemade rice pudding and flan for dessert—everything was delicious. The set menu was €18.90, a bit cheaper than others in the area. The fried calamari looked good, although we didn't try it. You have to go early because it fills up quickly; by 1:40 pm there were no tables left, even though they have plenty between the terrace and the interior. I highly recommend it!
The best seafood we've had in years. Lovely location with the view of the port. Great atmosphere and the service was very nice. We'll come back!
Very busy restaurant so best to book, as there were people queuing for tables, had the menu del dia that was very good recommended.
Great place in front of the port, you can eat looking at the boats. They have an interesting menu for under 19€, including entrees, main course and deserts, bread and drinks. The food was great and the portions were very correct. The service was very friendly, even for the kids. And we had some clams besides the menu that were delicious! They don’t take bookings which is interesting for families that want to have lunch with the kids before 14:00, you have availability and will not be left out for not having booked in advance. Will repeat for sure!!!
Best Fabada in Europe. What an scandal. Great flavour
Fair prices, located right in the marina, walking distance to everything. Restaurant is superb, large portions, fresh fish, all restaurants buy from the same local market anyway. Located on the right side of the marina, and for some reason cheaper than all the others. Service is the same anywhere here. The hotel is next to the restaurant, quiet rooms, super modern (!), Renovated in 2019 I think. Best value for money in town IMO.
Soup and salad were both good flavors and big servings. Service was good. Prices are fine
The view is wonderful, you can see all the boats from the restaurant and the atmosphere is great. They have a menu del día you can choose from and the price is right. I had an INCREDIBLE caldo de marisco. It was so good I would have had two portions! Then I had a paella which was part of the menu so not made in the moment which wad alright, but nothing special. The vino de la casa was good and I had natillas for dessert which was really good. Overall a good restaurant.
Hardly fine dining but OK for the price especially if you want quantity over quality - certainly as far as the menu del dia is concerned. The paella starter was tasty. The main was bocarones (about 6 whole small fried fish) and chips - and that is exactly what you get, nothing more. Tasty again though. Dessert was rice pudding - very nice. And we got a bottle of acceptable Asturian white wine between 2 all for €36. Tables only had paper tablecloths but service was excellent and there are pleasant views of the harbour
The food was very sad. Not made with love or care or seasoning. We had higher hopes based on reviews. House wine had particles floating in the “new” bottle. And there were mosquito larvae swimming in the cooler, should have left after we saw those things but we were optimistic.
Half hour wait. No soft drinks included in the menu. Flies around the restaurant. Really basic menu for 19 euros. Slow service.
Honestly this place is not worth a visit. The food is really sad, the wine tasted old, the grilled scallops were cold, food took forever to come, and the waiters were almost impossible to get in touch with. Do not recommend!
