Malibu Seafood Malibu Reviews
100/100 Best place for seafood in Malibu! I have been eating here for two decades and quality is consistently supreme. Except they give less fries now. This is my favorite place to get fish and chips in the whole wide world. It’s not New England or England style. It’s their very own deep fried, crispy dough. Large size portions of fresh white fish. West coast Malibu Style! Tartar sauce is beyond next level. Great location right off the beach. Pro tip: Stay for the sunset and a swim. Do not park in front of fire hydrant right off pch in front of yellow pillars. Ticket every time!
My friend Tony recommended this place to eat, he was here a year ago in one of his trips in Malibu, CA; the place has plenty parking, you either buy Togo or to eat here, they have a nice outdoor sitting area, you order inside the building and pick up food on a side window, as you may know in not too crazy for seafood but my wife loves it, so I had the chicken sandwich and she had the fish tacos, food was delicious and fresh, the rest of my family had lobster roll, cod platter, and grilled shrimp, everybody was very happy with their meals, this place food easily can win over other fancy restaurants in the area. We highly recommend it!!!
Must Visit spot when coming to California. We have frequented this place for over 20 years. Most amazing spot right off PCH views to die for and fresh seafood that rivals anywhere else in california. Atmosphere: i mean it doesn't get better then right off the ocean in the open air beach like shack, happy people sunshine. Nothing better Seating: Tons of tables with beautiful views all over. People eat quickly Food: New England Clam Chowder - TOP TIER chowder, fresh full of clams and the broth is amazing Mini Loaf - A must get the sourdough is amazing, hot crispy and soft at the same time. the perfect pairing to the chowder 2 Piece Fish & Fries - Crispy soft cooked perfectly. Fish really shines through the crispy batter. Huge pieces of fish Shrimp & Fries - Large crispy shrimp butterflied and fried to perfection. Fries themselves are good not great but passable. Sauce Tip: Cocktail sauce is HEAVENLY we use it on EVERYTHING. Tartar Sauce is also really good. Drinks: Iced Tea & Lemonade both very good Price: A bit pricey, but its seafood so its expected. The quality of the fish is worth every penny Parking: Limited free parking, paid lot that is very expensive. Beachside parking is free and always seems to be available. Service: They are always extremely busy, staff is always friendly and keeps the line moving. NO issues whatsoever here Must eat spot in LA
Great seafood! Casual, walk to register, order, then get called When your order is ready. They have lots of outdoor seating.... Every time i'm in california, I have to stop at malibu seafood... Parking shouldn't be a problem... The lot can get full, but you can park along PCH1... Just be very careful crossing the street. If you park on the opposite side.
Absolutely amazing food!! I am visiting in Malibu for the weekend and came back every day!! Clam chowder of the charts!! Ahi tuna sandwich!! Absolutely amazing!! Fries, the clam chowder I had it every time doesn't disappoint!! Totally recommend this place for the amazing food and the prices are phenomenal!! Oh I forgot the fish taquitos OMG!! Outstanding!!
Absolutely amazing seafood! We ordered the 2 piece fish and chips, halibut, and clam chowder. The fried fish was the star of the show but we loved everything we tried. Even as someone from the northeast, the chowder was some of the best I’ve had. This spot is a must! It also doesn’t hurt that the views from the outdoor patios are stunning.
Excellent atmosphere to enjoy seafood in the fresh air overlooking the beach! It’s in a nice quiet stretch of the PCH, not much traffic or chaos. We got there around noon on a Saturday and had no issues finding parking and seating. My only complaint is the quality of the fried scallops, they tasted like they were cooked from frozen and were way too heavily breaded. Would have much preferred if they were simply grilled.
It has been 4 years since my last review here so I have decided to rewrite it, but the verdict is the same, the simplest, freshest, best tasting seafood your can get around Malibu. Everything's straight off the boat to your table. We finished the clam chowder before I got my camera out. The fish is by far the best I have had anywhere. It is not just the freshness of the fish but the light, crispy and crunch breading. That just seals the deal, you don't even need that tartar sauce trust me. This is a must visit everytime we are in LA.
I absolutely loved the food here. This is a casual spot where you order your food and sit where you want with incredible views! The food is fresh and the menu is extensive. Service and seating are was great. Highly recommend unless you’re looking for a fancy night out. Great for couples and families… well for everyone. Would return again for sure!!!!!!
Headed to the beautiful clean beaches of Malibu, had to stop in for some fresh seafood! Parking was free and easy, phone order was quick and professional. I called in my order so we could enjoy at the beach. Customer service was the best. There is seating outside, not inside. You can order prepared food or purchase fresh seafood to take away. All the food looked fresh thru the glass window. We ordered the 2 an 3 piece cod fish n chips and clam chowder. I was really shocked on how huge the portion size we received in our order. All the food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed our dinner very much, we will indeed return in the near future. Tip: give them a try, you wont be disappointed.
I have to say this is a great place to get fish and chips. My last visit here I got the grilled sole which was delish also. My son works nearby and loves this place. That’s how I know about it. But the odd thing on this trip was with the French fries. Not sure what the heck happened. But we all sure had a good laugh about it. Need I say we didn’t eat that French fry!
Fast service, fresh, we had the 3 fish and chips and the red snapper. Delicious 😋. The fish and chips not very much breaded that's the best part as you don't get the carbs. Long line but it moves fast. Alot of seating everywhere and bathroom restrooms facilities are available little up but not too bad. Ocean views available. Parking at site or across the street. Just be careful crossing as it's the Pacific highway. Little cold next to ocean so bring your jackets.
A must in Malibu. The food is great, service is fast and the dining area is broad. We had the sourdough clam chowder, fish sandwich and fried fish which were all excellent. Parking is pretty sparse but we were able to stop on the side of the road. The view is great and the outdoor eating area is covered. They also have live lobster and other sorts of fresh fish. We had a great time here
Is NOT $10-$20 per person average, as google maps, and a few reviewers imply. My wife and I, just two of us, spent $60.34 without any drinks, and before tip, (see receipt pic). Expect parking to be difficult on Sat, Sun, or Holiday, and line to be long to get inside to order. We spent about 20 minutes in the line. Okay, now the good. Even though it was a busy Saturday lunch time, we received our To-Go order in 19 minutes, not bad. The food was all well prepared and tasted good. We ordered the Seafood Combo, 3-piece Fish and Chips, and 8oz Clam Chowder. It all tasted pretty good. We will be back again.
Today we had fried oysters. 3 piece fried fish, With a bowl of mussels. Best part you can eat there, or park across the street and eat at the beach. The view is beautiful.
I’ve been going to Malibu Seafood for over 25 years and often crave a pint of their lump Dungeness crab 🦀 with cocktail sauce. Honestly, everything on their menu is 🎯👌🏼but the lump 🦀 is 🤌🏼 🤤. The seafood is exceptionally fresh 🎣and the 🌊 view is unbeatable!!! As an LA native, I am so thankful 🙏this establishment survived the recent fires.
Great location and food! We felt like it was a great value too. Parking was a little tricky- there's a free lot, but when it's full, you may need to play a little frog crossing. You order at a counter. NO ALCOHOL! (I get it, just important to note- no beer with those fish and chips, folks.) They give you a little buzzer for when your food is ready, and it seemed to take a bit longer than would be expected, but ultimately worth the wait. We had the grilled fish tacos and shrimp/crab cocktail. Both were excellent. I was worried we would need more food, but it was plenty for the two of us. The location was fantastic and we were in and out in about 45 minutes on a Monday at 11:30.
The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere and the view amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the batter around it was very thin and crisp. The sauces and dips they offered were amazing as well, we recommend in particular the garlic coiander sauce. This place is unbelievably good!
This place surpassed expectations. I had fried mixed seafood. Genuinely the best fish I have ever tasted, the selection of seafood was good in the mix, and good portion. There's only outdoor seating with hand washing facilities. Friendly local regulars mentioned that weekends in Malibu is full of traffic and this place has a long queue. Thankfully we came on a weekday to visit Malibu. So happy I ate here! Highly recommend
If you want some good clean seafood, this is the spot! For years my order has stayed the same. Clam Chowder bread bowl and Fried Scallop sandwich. I think their red chowder is better than the white. Prices are reasonable, my meal is usually around $20ish. The scenery is beautiful and hiking trails are close by. Just be prepared if you go on a weekend or for dinner. They can get packed and parking is limited.
Amazing fried fish! I’m from Wisconsin, so my standards for a fish fry are extremely high, and here was the closest, maybe even on par, with a WI fish fry! So fresh and so delicious it will haunt you. The tarter sauce is delicious too! And the clam chowder. I ordered a roll to have with my soup and it was a piping hot fresh sour dough roll! I was so impressed by the quality of the food! There’s lots of tables to eat at around the restaurant, many with umbrellas, and there’s an area of covered tables too. Each seating area has napkins, ketchup dispensers, salt and pepper packets, and tables have malt vinegar and hot spice bottles on them. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. Very chill and laid back atmosphere; no frills, just great food. There’s a line to order your food, but so worth the wait and the food lives up to the hype. They give you a buzzer for when your food is ready, and you get it from a pick-up window. There appears to be a restroom behind the building, in a separate building, but we didn’t use it, so I can’t give more details. We arrived at 11:30am on a Sunday, a half hour after they opened and both the free and paid lots were already full. So we parked on the side of the PCH and walked up. So parking fills up fast! We will definitely come back, the food is just sooooo good! Thank you!
I love the lobster roll and the fish sticks with fries. The clam chowder is very good too !!! When you can’t find parking you can pay at the hiking parking area or you can park on the side but passing the fire hydrant (has 5 yellow sticks on it ) and the speed limit sign or else you will get a ticket
I love coming here. They have an array of choices, from seafood salads (ceviche, lobster, etc.), sandwiches, to fish and chips. They have a fresh seafood deli counter with all types of fish. Neptune's Net is great but this place has just as good seafood and it's much closer from Santa Monica. The line goes fast and the service is great. We love getting the lobster roll, fish and fries (the best fish sticks!) and clam strips.
I'm from Maryland, so I am picky about my seafood. This place right here reminded me of home. I had the grilled halibut with fries and a green salad. Each bite was so good!! The fish was perfectly portioned and grilled. Now, I had to add seasoning, aka salt, and accompanied it with tarter sauce. But the fish itself was so fresh. They edvertise appropriately that they are closed for breakfast because they are catching their fish for lunch. I concur! There was plenty of outdoor seating, which was perfect because the weather was spectacular. The restaurant is situated directly across the street from Malibu Beach. As you can see ate at sunset. What a beautiful day and view it was!
Wanted to try some fresh seafood while on the coast. Came here and had the grilled mahi-mahi. Expensive dish but worth it. The fish dishes come with two sides. The fries and rice pilaf were amazing. You order at the desk and are given a buzzer to retrieve your food when ready. Self seating outside. There are some great views of the ocean from a few of the tables. My food took a while to come out at around 20 minutes. The fish and chips came out much faster.
First time here. My friend suggested that we had to try it after our hike in the Santa Monica Mountains. She told us it was the locals favorite. I'm so glad we came here. I had fish and chips and fried scallops. Amazing! The line is usually always long, but moves along fast. I definitely recommend. I want to come back and try the lobster roll, and the clam chowder.
Overall the place is pretty good. The service is a bit awkward but I think it was also just hard for them to hear with all the noise so make sure to speak up politely. I usually don't like not crispy fries but I actually really liked the fries with my fish and chips. The batter is pretty good while it's hot but falters quickly after. Fish is moist too. The clam chowder is really good in my humble opinion but I've only had a few across the years. The view from the place is really really nice though if you could catch sight of a dolphin or few in the water. There's also plenty of outdoor seating so you can really feel the ocean blasting your face. Would definitely come back to try other things if I'm in the area.
Super seafood restaurant worth every penny. Fish, clam, shrimp, and sides are all great. They have many selections, and the staffs were super helpful with decisions. Definitely would go back. I wish they sold beer. Staffs are super good, but parking is not very convenient. Children also loved the place.
We were recommended this place by someone out of state, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. When we got there, there was already a long line so we could tell that it was definitely a good place to go. We had grilled red snapper and grilled shrimp, and they were very delicious. We will definitely come back if we’re in the area again.
Glad we picked here for a late lunch, they have a relatively fast turn over rate, were able to find parking and a table on their patio overlooking the ocean. Food’s fantastic! Tried the fried mixed sea food and steamed mussels. Both great! Fresh seafood quality, flavorful on their own. Loved their bread, toasty on the outside, soft on the inside, used it to soak up the broth in the steamed mussel, fantastic! And the view from our table 🤩
We ordered a bunch of items for lunch: the fish and chips, lobster roll, and a cup of clam chowder. We were very excite to try the lobster rolls, but were ultimately disappointed. It was nothing special for $30 a roll, save your money. The best part of the meal was the fish and chips. We ordered two pieces and it was plenty for my fiancée and I. The batter was delicious and the fish was very juicy. I haven't had many fish and chips platters, but this was certainly the best. The fries and coleslaw were also great pairings. The Clam chowder was also delicious, different from what we were used to, but still very good. This is a great place to stop for lunch along Pacific Coast Highway. The line can get long, but the service is quick and there is plenty of seating. I recommend parking along the road to avoid having to pay for the lot.
Wow, this is my #1 place for seafood. You know it’s gonna be good when the line is out the door. A quality seafood joint on the side of the road across from the beach of Malibu! The fish & chips are a fan favorite, but everything here is great! We always get the shrimp cocktail, and it’s so so good. Come early the line is always long!
I was here with my family and we all LOVED it! We were super hungry and they were really fast, that was exactly what we needed. We had deep fried calamari, fish, chicken and shrimp with fries. I would especially recommend the shrimp and calamari but everything was delicious. Go here when you visited Malibu and enjoy the food but also the great view! Thank you!
We came out to point dume Beach and for dinner searched for a nearby restaurant by the beach or with the beach in sight without spending over 100 dollars basically. I've done hundreds of reviews and used it to my advantage, here unlike the nearby restaurants I won't mention, you can get dinner for 2 for about 50 bucks, give or take. We had the fried squid with fries and a clam chowder bread bowl. We had water and sat in a heated room outside overlooking the ocean, I spent 36 dollars! Thank me later. If you are looking for a good, affordable meal, check this place out. Also free parking in the lot and paid parking on the nearby lot, or you can park across the street for free. Be careful crossing through traffic if fast.
Must-visit local seafood restaurant and market on the PCH in Malibu. A bit of a line but well worth the wait! Outdoor picnic-table seating with an ocean view. Lots of menu options including prep method (fried, grilled, salads) and portion size (i.e., you can choose number of pieces of fish for the fish fry).
Celebrating our 30th Valentine with some delicious Fish and Chips, Scallops and Fries and a delightful Clam Chowder, Food was Fresh and Service was fast even though the line was pretty long, worth the wait , price was very affordable, I definitely recommend this place, the view was amazing.
This spot operates as a fish market from 10 AM and a restaurant from 11 AM, so everything is very fresh. The food was absolutely delicious and felt like it had just come out of the ocean. Be prepared for lines on weekends—I recommend taking a photo of the menu while waiting so you’re ready when it’s your turn to order. After placing your order at the counter, they’ll give you a buzzer so you can grab a seat while your food is prepared. There are three patio areas for outdoor seating. Some have partial shade, but on hot days, it can be uncomfortable—umbrellas are limited. Parking is a challenge: there’s a $12 lot, a few free spots nearby, and the option to try your luck on the PCH. Even the paid lot fills up fast. There are a couple of restrooms, but they were pretty dirty on our Sunday visit. One note: dogs technically don’t seem to be allowed on the patio, but I did see a few around. If your dog is quiet and well-behaved, it seems like staff and guests are okay with it.
Fantastic fresh fish, big portions and delicious. Clam chowder was delicious as was the mixed seafood combo of fish, shrimp, calamari and scallops. Plenty of outside tables with scenic views of the ocean across PCH. Most of the tables are on the slope so they're above the highway level so your views aren't restricted. The moment you open your car door, you can smell that you've made a good choice in dinning! Staff was friendly, parking lot for the restaurant is free . You can't go wrong, it's been there for what I heard was over 30 years, so they're definitely doing something right 👍👍
Bring a jacket if winter time. Definitely pay for parking if the lot is full ( free parking right by restaurant). Pay parking lot for walking. Saw a car get towed. You walk in through the shop 1/2. Order what you want. Go around outside to pick up the food. Buzzers have enough range you can set up outside area and wait. Seems it all done to order. They do have seating for wheel chair folks. I think you would have to go to the pick up area to order. There no way a wheelchair getting around inside even if you could get it over the step. Food was good. Beautiful view of the sea. Lots of people were there. Locals do like this spot. That says loads about a plsce. Calamari rings were delicious. The texture of them was best Calamari I have ever had.
Best fish and chips in California. I recommend the fish and chips, shrimp and chips, and fish taquitos. I heard the tacos are phenomenal but I always resort to the aforementioned. I’ve also tried the potato salad, which is superb, but the clam chowder is not good here unfortunately. Still, this is a five-star and the best fish and chips house in California.
Great food & market, across from the beach. Fish & chips are unbeatable. We also had clam chowder and a real crab salad. All very tasty. All fresh. Reasonable prices. Rustic style dining. Parking can be a challenge if you go normal eating hours, but not impossible. Restroom behind the building. Best seafood!
Malibu Seafood, October 5, 2025 My daughter's sister said you got to try this place so we decided to & why not if you're coming out to Malibu, CA for the beach 🏖️ or just enjoying a drive up & down the PCH you can't go wrong especially if you ❤️ seafood! Malibu Seafood is so Awesome! With so many different kinds of seafood to choose from as you can see on their menu plus other stuff also like different kinds of bread to eat with their clam chowder sourdough bread 🍞 or a bagel 🥯 or a baguette 🥖 for later & OMG! 🤤 The "Fish & Chips" are to die for they are so freaking good perfectly battered & the french fries just have that amazing taste to them also plus the clam chowder & the shrimp tacos 🍤 🌮 ! So no matter what you order you can't go wrong! Please don't forget the extra tartar sauce & the malt vinegar or the ketchup or the hot sauce 🌶️ some people enjoy that & the butter 🧈. Note: the outside eating areas can get very busy to find a table but you can & I ❤️ the "No Dogs" 🐕 sign but you still see them there! L🤣L! The view is breath taking of the ocean 🌊 & you can see the PCH right there as you eat it's so beautiful. Thank You to everyone here at Malibu Seafood for making our first time here a very wonderful & exciting day with all of the food & the smell of fresh seafood & the sights & sounds of people enjoying life & just eating & making everlasting memories. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s & 💯%+ for the service & for the food & everything else. Great Job Y'all!!! 👏 😎👍
Long time visiter, first time reviewer. Wish I had tried the Potato Salad sooner! Malibu Seafood has always met our expectations. We were there between the New Year's holiday week on a Tuesday and had an issue with our meal. I must say that I was thoroughly impressed by the management's reaction to resolve. Will continue our tradition of returning to this staple each time we visit Point Dume.
The food is great service is good, and the atmosphere can't be beat. Always worth a stop there to eat. Great view over the ocean, prices are good foods always good, and they have a pretty wide selection. There is paid parking that is meant for the hiking trails next to the restaurant. If the restaurant doesn't have parking available There is ample parking along Street In front of the restaurant.
This is casual yet FRESH seafood. Prices were on target. Fish and chips where perfect. You order at the window (after strolling past the displays of fresh for purchase seafood. Take your buzzer and find a seat in the terraced beach view umbrella or covered seating area. Good menu with flexible sides like coleslaw, sweet potato fries, or rice pilaf.
Had a great experience at Malibu Seafood. We ordered the fish combination plate, and the food was amazing. The portion was surprisingly generous—more than enough for one person—and at around $23, I think it’s totally worth it. Everything was fresh, tasty, and cooked perfectly. A great spot for quality seafood with a fair price for what you get.
Really excellent basic fish shack kinda place. The seafood, however, is excellent. Great laid back vibe, welcoming staff. A tradition. Update: just had one of my best meals in LA here. Fresh grilled corvina, Cole slaw and fries. Extremely simple but each element was perfect and they all worked together. Pro tip: if the MS specials board says fresh grilled anything, order the anything. The freshest fish goes from the docks to the specials board . Oh, and their tartare sauce is more like aoli.
I am not quite sure why I never came here before but I went there today with my son and it was fantastic the service was great you don't sit down and go in a restaurant you just walk up to the Girl place your order go sit outside on the balcony looking at the ocean and then come back when it's ready. We had a seafood combination platter that was fantastic!
Simple little walkthrough restaurant where you place your order at the counter and pick up when your buzzer goes off. Has a variety of fish to try, plus fresh fish that you can order to get wrapped and go. They sold sourdough rolls and baguettes, as well as seasonings and some sauces. The menu has a variety of fish options to choose from and different styles of cooking them like grilled, fried, or steamed. They also have chicken strip baskets and different side dishes for those who may not care for fish. Fish and chips were absolutely delicious and plentiful. Their tartar sauce taste very good with the fish and they have ketchup and napkins out on a counter near the picnic area to help yourself to, as well as balsamic vinegar and hot sauce on each table. New England clam chowder was hot fresh and very tasty. The cream sauce was a wonderful consistency and balanced well all together. There are a few different size bowl options for their clam chowder as well as a bread bowl option. Shrimp tacos had a good amount of shrimp in them with a cabbage mix and a very delicious creamy sauce that had some zest and kick to it. They come with a side of salsa which I highly recommend. Not too spicy but definitely adds more flavor. Seating can be a little tricky depending on how busy they are, and it definitely seems like they can get very busy quickly. But once you find a seat the view of the ocean and PCH is absolutely gorgeous. Parking can also get a little hectic. They have free parking immediately around their restaurant but the parking lot just south of the restaurant is a paid parking lot with a meter that you pay at and grab a ticket to leave on your dashboard. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to others especially if you are a foodie and into seafood. I definitely look forward to returning and trying some of the other types of fish and dishes.
Oh my heavens! DO NOT MISS!! Seafood is fresh, many selections, everything we got was delicious and everything we saw we said I'll get that next time. The onion rings looked great but the fries were very good too. Here's how it works. Stand in line. Walk in the door, order and pay. You get a buzzer. Walk out the door at the register and go to the left side of the building where you wait for your buzzer to notify you that your order is ready. OR, find a table so you have a place to eat and wait for your order. The line was very long but the staff is extremely efficient, fast and friendly. They did give a refill on tea and it is delicious as well.
The ambiance of this place is where it's at! While you will get good customer service and your food will be delicious. The wow factor comes in watching dolphins swim on the beach or people try to surf while you eat dinner. You will be eating dinner outside at picnic tables with umbrellas. Close to sunset. They will take the umbrellas down so you can see the sunset on the water. We were delighted to see a pot of dolphins swim by as we ate our fare. There were four in our party. One couple shared a plate of swordfish with coleslaw and rice as their sides. My sister and I shared red snapper with french fries and salad as our size. We also got a small cup of Manhattan clam chowder to share. It was plenty of food for the four of us! I would bring someone back here again for sure. It is definitely an experience to remember.
I am staying up the Malibu RV park(Surf Outpost) and there is a trail in the park that I can walk to Malibu Seafood. Everything is fresh as a can be. I REALLY enjoyed the fish and fries(fish&chips) I think it’s the best I ever had. Also tried crab cocktail. Amazing! There is no inside seating. You can walk in and place an order for there or to go as they do offer outdoor dining. If you pass this place by, I highly recommend you stop in and try it. They did not disappoint. I sat in the upper outdoor dining area which helped block the wind. It’s beautiful to be able to eat such awesome fish and look at the ocean in MALIBU. What a life 😁

Easy take-out and right near beach. price is very reasonable. Line was not too long and order filled in 15 minutes.

We stopped at 11.30 on the way to the beach and had a great meal. The fish and chips compares well to the original British dish and even has the same cut of potato chips with salt and vinegar. …
Casual seafood spot with ocean views. Came here for lunch after a hike at Sara Wan and split a 2 piece deep fried fish and fries and an 8 oz clam chowder. There is parking available on-site or along PCH. The clam chowder was creamy and quite filling. The 2 piece fish was crispy and came out piping hot. You order first and pay prior to picking up your food. Credit cards are accepted.
I really wanted to like their ahi tuna burger. But it was just too plain. The tuna patty was cooked right—not too dry and seasoned appropriately. But it was missing an extra oomph. Not enough tartar? Limp lettuce? Maybe needs some pickles? The clam chowder is nice, def helps add some variety. And the view is beautiful, plenty of parking.
My friend recommended this place and took me here so I was looking forward to it. Firstly the parking seems to be free if you can get it but the lot beside is $12 which is a bit steep but I assume you could make a beach day out of it. I had originally planned on getting fish and chips but saw the fish tacos and decided to get those and share the fish and chips with my friend. The fish tacos were super disappointing. They were a mix of grilled, not fried fish and the toppings were bland. It was a sloppy mess to put it lightly. The portion was generous but it became a task to finish it as I wasn't enjoying it. The fish and chips are good so if I were to go back I'd recommend sticking with that.
Great place for seafood in a very casual setting. Loved my lobster roll (nice amount of lobster), the lobster and crab salad was very good (generous serving of crab), fish tacos were good. The cole slaw was delicious! Wouldn’t order again : ceviche. Nice view. Parking isn’t huge but you can park on PCH.
Very crowded very expensive but the ocean view is stunning. There are walking trails and bluffs above the restaurant that make the view and sunsets even more impressive. There are lines when busy but moved pretty well. There's outdoor seating overlooking the Pacific Coast Highway and across from the Pacific Ocean.
Food was really good! We went late at night about an hour before close and was top tier. Had the lobster roll and fried shrimp with fries and a clam chowder. Would definitely have the clam chowder again! Had the 3 piece shrimp and they were massive so it was the perfect amount.
I can see why this place is so iconic. It’s next to the beach and you can make a day out of it. It’s a pretty casual spot, the food is good. Service was also good, it’s mostly self order and you pick it up, choose a spot to sit and enjoy your food. Loved the outdoor sitting and there was plenty of parking. My fav was def the clam chowder!
This place is amazing and affordable. You can bring your own beer. The shimmering Pacific, the sound of the waves, and the sun setting are one-of-a-kind. The thing I dislike is the 30-40 minute line to place an order, and then another 15-20 to pick it up. Fresh, fun, fantastic, and free endurance training. 😉
Fish tacos were pretty good but not great. (My October 2025 spooky video review goes more in depth). The TLDW: It's shredded fish not whole fish and salsa wasn't as spicy as I would prefer. They seem to be liked, if not loved, by many as there was a line literally out the door and around the side. I will be going back and will update the review once I get a chance to see if their score goes up or down. Overall score: 4.25 out of 5 Recommend to try: Yes Affordability: 2 tacos plus a drink = approximately $18 So a bit higher than what I would like but considering the area it's reasonable and definitely better than just getting McDonald's, etc. & more than likely better for you.
About an hour long line, standing in the sun, to place an order. Took about 20 minutes for the order to be ready. I ordered fish and chips, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, a grilled salmon platter, and a couple of fountain drinks. They only have one size fountain drink. It’s about the size of a medium drink at most places. The drink didn’t stand a chance after standing in line. The food was good. I was hoping for an amazing meal, especially for the cost. It was good, not OMG good. The tacos didn’t look like the picture in the reviews. No shredded cabbage or lettuce? There was a lot of sauce on both tacos. No flavors stood out. It was all one note. The fish and chips were excellent as also the salmon, rice and coleslaw. Parking in the parking lot isn’t something I would plan on. The restroom was clean. Overall decent experience. Right on PCH, across from the beach. Neat local historic place. Also, looks like a place where you can eat outside with your dog [ITS NOT]. There are signs in multiple locations around the building and dining areas that prohibit dogs.
I timed my visit to arrive right at opening (11am) but the lot was already full, so I paid for parking next door. Ended up waiting in line for about 30 minutes, which wasn’t too bad given the Labor Day crowd. Ordered the two fish and fries along with the New England clam chowder — both were fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth the wait. Scored a great spot at one of the outdoor picnic benches, right near the water fountain, which made the meal even better. Plenty of seating overall and the ocean views really add to the experience. A classic Malibu stop that lives up to the hype.
My go to spot for lobster rolls. Fries and calamari had a great crunch factor. Parking is a little congested but you can always park alongside the road.

Excellent selection and combinations. Tried the scallops and fries, good size and tasty. Outdoor dining with a wonderful view of the ocean. Can be crowded at times.

This is a nice place to visit by the ocean for good food and scenery. parking on the side of the road is a little challenging but plenty of seating.
This place is extremely busy when we came in for some food. All of the parking was taken and we had to park way down the street and walk up. The line up was also pretty long and after ordering we…
Fun outdoor dining . Order at the counter and wait for your number . Extremely casual with a great Ocean View . Chowder fish all great . Crab Salad was a treat
Most of the food here is rather plain. The best deal might be the fish tacos which included assorted fish with typical taco ingredients of cabbage, salsa, lemon, and a sauce. The view of the ocean may be obstructed if you sit more inside but you can always wait for a seat with a view. The service is fast and efficient, especially with the electronic buzzers. The ambiance was very relaxed.
Overrated. Fried calamari and clams were tough. Few clams in the clam chowder. Coleslaw was good. Bring your own eating utensils. How do you eat soup with a flat rounded stick?
It was a bit pricey but not bad for a special dinner with family. The outdoor ambiance and seeing the dolphins and whales while we ate was amazing. Our food reviews: Squid Steak Sandwich: 4/5 Lobster Roll: 4/5 Fish Tacos: 2.5/5 Fried Calamari: 5/5 Fried Clam Stips: 0/5 Lemonade: 5/5 Raspberry Vegan Ice Cream Sandwich: 6/5 There is a parking lot but it was full when we went. Street parking was not hard to find on a Friday afternoon and it was free. I would try a different seafood spot before coming back here again, but this was definitely not bad and is great to go if you have visitors that want to see the natural beauty of Malibu.
This used to be my fave place to get Fish n chips. I’d drive 30 miles to enjoy them. But lately their standards have dropped. Couple of visits now was served burned food and slightly dry fish. This was never the case in the past. I certainly won’t be returning anytime soon unless their cooks improve what they serve up. Even when I went to pick up my order I noticed about 10 other orders waiting to be collected where also over cooked. Summer is coming I’d suggest you step up.
We ordered the seafood combo and chips, which included a piece of battered fish, crumbed prawns and calamari. It was a generous serve, however it was too greasy. I discarded the batter coating and …
The service was truly splendid! Had an amazing time with the woman with blonde hair who attended me, she was very friendly and upbeat clearly loving her job! Although the overall food was truly disappointing… in my own experience I expected much more. I ordered a Pacific Lobster & my partner ordered a Shrimp cocktail. The lobster felt like it was missing seasoning all together or additional spices, the cracker was very difficult to use as crackers from other seafood restaurants are more easier to crack the lobster. The cocktail was truly disappointing and does not deserve to be called a cocktail. Would not recommend the cocktails.
Place has been consistent for the last several years but last two visits in two months have been huge downers… First time, both pieces of cod were medium temperature and one was filled with oil; seemed like a terrible cut of fish and batter had seeped in. Second time, today, clam chowder had a hair…and fried fish was OK temperature but I had ordered coleslaw instead of fries… This time I went back and asked for both things to be fixed…lady tried to mix it back in when I tried to show her the hair lol, and then I pulled it out once again… Staff was helpful in fixing the issue…new soup (but was it from the same hairy batch?) and coleslaw so I give them props on that…but ruins the experience…twice in a row…hope they can fix quality control.
Upon reading the reviews we decided to switch from neptune net to malibu seafood. My red snapper was dry and unseasoned, the fish and chips had no flavor . Side salad was plenty of lettuce with a side of dressing. I truly don't understand the " hype" . Only positive was the view and service. My friend had to drown his fish in hot sauce to get some flavor .
