Zada's Margaretville Reviews
I wish there were more stars to give, this place deserves the whole ski full of stars. This is what food made with love tastes like. Whoever checks restaurants for Michelin stars should definitely pay a visit here. Everything tastes like it’s grown by them from veggies to meat. The wine selection spectacular. The atmosphere is peaceful, home like, the service was amazing, Jack was great❤️, so kind and friendly. We stayed in town for 3 days and ate here all 3 days. We had the platter for an appetizer and we thought it was too big but it was so good that we finished everything. For entree we had the Short ribs, the farm chicken, the Balkan burger and the Trofie Pasta Mushroom in Ragu. Food was melting in your mouth, no need to chew and it had flavor, each of them the right flavor. I could write about this forever, a book is not enough and doesn’t make justice to this place and the food. We ll definitely come back over the years and eat here. Amazing!! Amazing !! Amazing !!
We went there today and had a great time. The wine list is well curated and the food is absolutely delicious, taking me back to Europe. The Balkan platter is a meal on its own and one of a kind. Highly recommend this place for either a date night or a family meal.
This restaurant is a gem and we will definitely be back anytime we’re in the area. The atmosphere when you walk in is warm, welcoming and feels like you’re stepping back in time a bit. My boyfriend and I are crazy about the red sangria. We shared the butternut squash dish which was the star for us. We also shared the shrimp appetizer, the cucumber salad and a slice of the spinach/cheese burek. Every item we tried was balanced with flavor and thoughtfulness. We can’t recommend this spot enough and can’t wait to eat everything on their menu. Thanks for the memories!
We had a fantastic time at Oda’s today! We had two bottles of delicious wine and the Balkan Plate! Absolutely delicious and causes group discussions of how fabulous the wine and food were. I wish I knew the servers name because they were so wonderful and were working so hard!
Beautiful outdoor garden seating with an awning to shade from the sun. Jack has been our server both recent visits-very attentive and professional. Food is delicious-recommend the spinach burek, shepherd’s salad, cucumber salad, shrimp dish and anything that includes the bread.
Second time there. The platter the first time and then Chicken and shepherd salad this time. Great!
This is a cozy little spot in Margaretville. We had a great Saturday afternoon lunch on the patio w some white sangria and a Greek white. The was really above average- and Balkan dishes were very much new to me. But go here and try something outside your comfort zone- you’ll be glad you did.
Just wow! Absolutely blown away by Oda, you have to stop by and try them. Not only will you not find a better dining experience in the entire area, but I’ve actually been all through the Balkans and this is better than some of the meals I had in those countries! Just floored at the quality of the food. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly, their wine selection is really unique and well put together, and the prices were very reasonable. This is the sort of place that would have reservations booked out a month in advance near the city. Do yourself a favor and check them out. I hope Oda is here to stay for a long time!
Well what a gem of a find on a quiet Sunday evening in Margaretville. Most places were close including the Binnekill Tavern where we had planned to eat. The outside must be beautiful on a sunny summer evening but it was the warm, welcoming, classy, simple but perfectly appointed restaurant that drew us in on this chilly evening. A superb selection of wines by glass, carafe or bottle and beautiful Balkan style small plates and main meals. We went for the Balkan Platter and it was superb and the hosts were charming. The town was empty but this gem of restaurant was full and had a lovely atmosphere. Congratulations on getting it so right 👍
Honestly cool spot. Didn't try but one dish, and very much enjoyed it though. Awesome awesome selection of Eastern European wines and fortified drinks. Was so cool to see that many in one place. Very rare
Came to the soft opening and wow it’s so good to have a nice wine bar in town finally! Inside is cute and they have a nice outdoor area with lots of tables. Owners are super friendly and welcoming. Amazing wine selection with some natural/organic options and craft beer on tap( you can also get pitchers of beer!) While we didn’t have any of the food, what we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. Next time, will stay for the mezze boards and beef sausage in hand made pita!
Amazing food, a beautiful place to eat and interesting food. The service was attentive but not annoying. The whole experience was a surprise in the best way.
we love this place! the owners make you feel at home. the wine list is super fun and the food is delicious. the outdoor space is tastefully done and the indoors is cozy and warm we are looking forward to some winter meals.

This place is GREAT. You could be in Brooklyn but guess what? Youre not. And that’s even better. Excellent wine menu, Balkan platter is baller, prices reasonable, service engaged. Best restaurant in Margaretville.

Super friendly staff, delicious food and exceptional service. A delightful restaurant in the heart of charming Margaretville with outside dining. A real treat! We’ll be back.
We had a great time at Oda ! The food was so fresh, the meat so juicy. They have a nice variety of wines, I will definitely be back very soon !!
Luckily this was right across from where we were staying because it was such a great experience! I hadn’t specifically had Balkan food before, but a lot of it looked similar to Greek food- which is a part of my roots so I knew it was a must try situation. We sat on the patio and tried a bunch of different appetizers, a pear soda and a hazelnut custard dessert. Everything was top notch. The waitress was amazing, friendly, had great recommendations not only for the restaurant but some local trails to check out and even a breakfast spot (shout out to Mornings) we were even able to see some traditional music the next day as they set up a little festival in their parking lot to share the culture and make it fun! If you don’t stop by here when you are in town, you’re missing out!
Words can not explain what we felt about this food, the taste of it, the tenderness, everything felt it was made with love, hands downs for this unbelievable place, if you read this review come and try and I promise you are going to love it!
So happy to have found this hidden gem for the second time. Tucked behind the big antique shop on Main Street is a lovely restaurant with a varied menu and extensive wine selections. We enjoyed a delicious halibut crude, a fantastic crab and shrimp pasta and the best rice pudding I have ever eaten. Service was also outstanding!
Best dinner I have had in the United States in almost a decade. This was the least expected place to find a restaurant this amazing! Words can’t describe the taste of the food! This is a real taste of Europe! Jack was our server and also the bartender. Very knowledgeable and polite!

The Byrek and pasule was exactly as my grandma would make it. The place is a bit tight but they were still able to fit 11 of us. Would defiantly eat here again.

Great meal at Oda! Stumbled upon this wine garden on a lovey Sunday evening and had a great meal and some lovely Slovenian wine!! Would recommend. They also sell their bottle list at a discount.

It’s wild to have this unique and funky of a wine selection this deep into the Catskills. The Balkan focus is wild. I love a good Georgian wine or chilled Croatian red. Bonus if you go to their store in Andes! I didn’t get a chance to eat but will next time!
First the server did great despite being only person with at least 8 tables. We had the Balkan platter. The novelty of it was cool and a few things were very tasty. Pretty good overall. The lamb shank…blah. Really boring. Quality was fine and was cooked well, just tasted like unseasoned lamb roast with liquid grits. Yes I’m aware it is polenta! Biggest thing that took away from it was the flies. At least 15-20 in the main room. Worth a try but wouldn’t come back.
