Spanky's Massena Reviews
Great local diner to get a meal. Friendly wait staff and overall good service!
Cool, small town diner. Great Service. I got a chicken parm sandwich. Good eats.
They have some really good breakfast. I like their chicken tenders for lunch.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Spanky's, and I can’t say enough good things about this place. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Friendly, attentive, and quick with recommendations — they truly go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Now, let’s talk about the food. Every dish we ordered was spot-on. The flavors were bold and fresh, and you could tell the ingredients were high quality. Everything was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes were generous, and presentation was on point. It’s clear that Spanky's is a place that cares — both in the kitchen and on the floor. If you're looking for a spot with delicious food and a warm, inviting vibe, you won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to come back!
I just tried out Spanky’s in Main Street in Massena, I asked two days in a row for a breakfast place and this was first choice both times, I had French toast with eggs over easy and right away was impressed because one of those little syrup packers where you need to ask for more, they put a syrup bottle on the table, we also ordered an omelet and a traditional breakfast, everyone was happy with the service and the food, the waitress Elaine was very friendly, I am here for the week and will be back
Spanky's is your typical local owned diner . You can get breakfast here anytime of the day. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive. We eat there about once a week. There has never been a bad meal!!! Everything is home made and comes out piping hot. It is like eating at your grandma's kitchen! The prices are CHEAP! Family oriented place. We do parties there all the time.
Good food for a great price. It was the first time I had nachos where there was more toppings than nachos.
Good diner food with great service - very dated - but what i like in a breakfast or lunch diner -
Spanky’s is a great place to grab a quick bite! It has the classic tiny town dinner look to it, and the food was delicious. 4/5 because the waitress did forget to bring out a water, but overall the service was pretty good compared to other places. Spent around 16 per person with an appetizer and drinks, prices truly cannot be beat in this economy. Placing order to receiving the food was about 7 minutes, so if you need a quick bite this truly is the place. Highly recommend if you are in the Massena area!
I got cheesy scrambled eggs and French toast. The eggs looked gross. They weren't scrambled or cooked thoroughly. They came out with a full piece of cheese sitting on them, not even melted. The toast that came with it was loaded with butter that wasn't melted either. But the French toast was good.
I have went to Spankys since I was a kid, now in my 30s. I have to say, the last 4 times I have went there were awful!!! The young waitresses forget you and you literally have to ask for someone to take your order. I have sat there and waited for coffee refills and they never did a round. Today I was served cold toast with the butter just layed on it without being melted. Both my mother and I. I brought it up and asked for new toast. Idk what happen but the staffing has gone to crap and I will not be returning.
I've been going here since I can remember, but it's just not what it used to be. After 3 dissapointments across the last year, I've got to call it quits. Most recently I waited over 2 hours without any interaction from staff after delivering my drink. Left cash on the table for that as I could not get any staff to look my way. Wild. Absolutely absurd to watch people come and go without ever hearing about the food I'd ordered, or what could be delaying it. Prior, the food was just not good. The omelets used to be amazing, the pancakes so fluffy, and the fries so crisp and greasy. It's just dissapointing to watch a local dive in its death throws.
We ordered 3 specials, spaghetti, side salad, mozzarella sticks, grilled cheese 2 beers, chocolate milk and sweet tea. Drinks came out quick, salad didn't come out, 30 minutes after ordering, until I watched other people that came in after us getting food and questioned where our appetizers were. I gave them 2 minutes to get food otherwise we were walking. 4 minutes later I asked to cash out for our drinks as we didn't touch the salad and we're charges 15.55 for 2 beers chocolate milk and sweet tea. The excuse given was training a new cook...this doesn't excuse 5 cheese sticks approx 4 to 5 minutes in a fryer that wasn't even put down and a salad taking over 30 minutes to serve.
I have been here before and thought it was a decent place but when my family and I went in this time they had a waitress who didn't know what she was doing and was very rude. She brought out 8 year old a cup of "swamp juice" that was full of fruit flies and when we asked for a new one we were told they didn't come from the machine so if we wanted a new one we had to pay for it. They really expected her to drink it full of bugs. We left at that point because we completely disgusted by their attitudes and cleanliness. Eat at your own risk.
I felt very unwelcome as an indigenous person getting a meal with some family. We waited at least 15 minutes for the waitress (at least 1 of the 3) to ask us what we’d like to drink. Waited another 10 minutes for only 2 of the 3 drinks to be brought. Another 10 minutes for the one they missed. Once we ordered, the food didn’t take that long. However, it wasn’t that great. We got extremely burnt toast, burnt eggs/omelet, half-cooked meat on the french dip, and overall bland food. To top it all off, we got overcharged for removing an ingredient from the omelet and asking for the cheese to be a certain type. Would not recommend to anyone that’s of color, a.k.a not white. You’d get terrible service, bad attitude, and disappointing food. 0.5/10 and that generous.
Service was horrible. Never got silverware, had to ask. Everyone got served before us when we were here for a while. Never got checked on. All of our food got messed up when it wasn’t busy. Better service at a 1 star hotel in ogdensburg. Just like this place, their food is cold and bland. Who cooks steak with no seasoning. If you want a medium steak, ask for medium rare because they are one step behind. Asked for medium and got a slab of dry well done steak. When things seemed done, the lady couldn’t even do math. Almost spent over 100 for a $30 meal. If I wasn’t leaving for college, I would give them my application. Just because you have rumors of a ghost in your basement, it doesn’t mean your service needs to be ghostly.
Used to come here when I was a kid - the food used to be good. Came here with my son and I had a 2 egg omlette with cheese, sausage, and toast. His toast was burnt, mine was just bread. See pictures. Can tell the sausage was a very cheap brand. I had coffee and the cream and sugar containers on the table had someone else's left over garbage in the dish. It's very obvious they're just pushing people through to get $$ and they no longer care about the quality of their food or service. Very unfortunate. Oh and they only take cash currently.
