La palapa de Efren Mazatlán Reviews
If you bring your own fresh seafood, they'll prepare it for you; they only charge a small fee for cooking it. We brought shrimp, octopus, and scallops, and we ordered scallops with lemon and salt, aguachile, ceviche, coconut shrimp, and garlic shrimp, and everything was delicious! 👌 The service was also excellent; the waiters are super attentive, friendly, and charismatic. They really know their stuff! 👍
It was the best seafood place out of the five I tried in Mazatlán. The tostadas are incredibly generous. I had a sierra ceviche tostada for 100 pesos, and my husband had a special one with all kinds of seafood, even conch, for 120 pesos. We were both very satisfied because we weren't that hungry. The next day, we went back with our seafood to have it cooked. They made us some amazing breaded shrimp and only charged us 80 pesos to cook half a kilo. They also fried a red snapper I brought for just 70 pesos and sold me the side dishes for 80 pesos. We thought it was a bargain for how good it was. The place is clean, the staff is very friendly, and while the restaurant isn't particularly attractive, the delicious food more than makes up for it.
Stopped in for a solo lunch. Food, service & prices were good. Had the cooked shrimp ceviche on tostadas. Very good. Had the shrimp & cheese skewers. Pretty good. Had a couple cold beers. Was served well & it was priced well. Cute little place.
The very best ceviche, Cocteles and aguachile I have ever tried. The best!!!
Best shrimp ever!
Excellent food and great service. Efren and the guys are number 1!
We purchased shrimp and lobster from The Shrimp Ladies and asked La Palapa to prepare. They cleaned and prepared all the food as requested. Included with the meal was a small salad, rice and potatoes as well as sauces, crackers and bread. Everything was very fresh and very tasty.
Excellent place!!!! The dishes are 100% fresh!!! They prepare them as you order. I even think this restaurant only handles inventory in terms of crackers, tostadas, and salsas, since they have a place next door where you can buy everything fresh, at the moment!!! The staff is very friendly, the place, although small, gives you the necessary comfort, the prices are very in line with the quality and quantity of the dishes!! Highly, highly recommended!!! And on your way out you can stop by the street vendors to buy fresh, dried, or cooked shrimp at great prices!!
It was really in that place but food was good
We came here because we had kids in our group and couldn't go up Ankla de Oro. The ceviche was good, but the fried preparations were just ok. The big turn-off was the price. The charged MUCH more to prepare our shrimp than anywhere else I'd been. They charged for extra salsa, and they charge an $80 peso "seating fee". There were some mistakes on our bill so, make for to watch out. The staff were friendly and the food was ok, hence the 2 stars.
Absolutely a rip off total bait and switch on the shrimp we bought, ice cold fries, negative star rating
Based on the food, I'd say it's a good place, but that wasn't the case. Let's start by saying that we bought the seafood at Las Charanguitas to have it cooked there. The price for cooking it ranged from 150 to 250 pesos. Up to that point, we could say everything was going relatively well, but then they charged us 80 pesos just to sit down and eat the food, plus the cost of our drinks. On top of that, one of our dishes was way too salty. In my opinion, if you're paying them to cook the food and you're also buying drinks, charging an extra 80 pesos is excessive. In short, it's a place I wouldn't return to because of the prices.
