Rice Lovers Mckinney Reviews
Great food! I ordered shrimp fried rice. Its really really really good (delicious).

This is a wonderful Chinese food restaurant. Large family style servings of traditional Chinese cuisine. Lemon Chicken is our favorite, it's a breaded cutlet deep fried and sliced over a bed of cabbage served with lemon dipping sauce. Lo Mein, Beef w Broccoli are close seconds. Staff is wonderful and polite, our waiter even did a trick with the chopsticks so our three year old could eat with them. We highly recommend this establishment.
The food is a little pricey, but I think it was totally worth it. The steamed dumplings and the sauce they came with were amazing, and they were steamed to perfection. The sauce on the sesame chicken was a little thick, but very flavorful. The chicken was also cooked perfectly, and came with a side of broccoli. And, even though the delivery driver got lost, he was still here very quickly. All in all, huge portions of delicious (if slightly over priced) food delivered quickly by a cute delivery driver. I will definitely be ordering from them again.
We've been coming to Rice Lovers since we first moved to McKinney back in 2004. For the past 17 years they've been one of our favorite local restaurants. Great service and friendly owners. They do a lot of to-go orders, but we've personally never done that. We like to dine in the restaurant. When my parents come into town this also one of the places they always want to visit.
My husband and I have stopped ordering from any of the local Chinese takeout restaurants-except for Rice Lover's! We have always had good food, though it is a little more pricey, well worth it, in my opinion. The sesame chicken is always great! The combination fried rice, as well as the combination lo mein is always plentiful and loaded with veggies and meat! Thank you, Rice Lover's for being our favorite local Chinese stop! :)

This place deserves a higher rating. I'm not a local. I’m in town for work, and staying at a hotel. Rice Lovers is one of two Chinese restaurants the front desk says delivers to the hotel. I'm eating my food as I type this. The food was delivered within 20 minutes of the phone order being placed; 10 minutes earlier than promised.I get the impression that the man who delivered to my room was an owner or manager, as he seems truly humbled and grateful to have my business. He asked how I had heard of the restaurant and seemed genuinely curious. I ordered two entrees so that I'd have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The double cooked pork is delicious. Came with fried rice that is good, but not the best I've had. This would be a five-star review, however, though very tasty, the "Singapore rice noodles" are clearly angel hair pasta, and not actually rice noodles. Don't be discouraged by the low rating. This place was fairly priced, very convenient, and super nice.

In short, not as good as my old favorite. We tried Rice Lovers a few years back and weren't impressed (not bad, but not great), so we hadn't been back. Best Chinese BBQ (formerly Sunrise Asian Cuisine (formerly 'something else before that') ) was our most dependable local chinese place in quality (not name). But with the recent merger, or aquisition, or whatever it was, all the staff is at Rice Lovers, so we decided to try it again. Our experience was the same as the first time, friendly staff, fast service, just above mediocre food.
I always loved the food at Rice Lovers at Hardin and Eldorado Pkwy in Mckinney. I have been eating there since 2001. I hadn't eaten there in a while and ordered my absolute favorite, the Moo Goo Gai Pan, this week. They have changed their recipe and some of the ingredients. I always found them to be high quality tasting dishes that were well flavored with subtleties you would definitely never seen in say Mall Chinese or Chinese buffet. This week when I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan and the Pork Lo Mein it might as well have been a buffet dish. It was lacking the quality and taste I formerly expected from them. I'm guessing there's been a change in ownership. I'm terribly disappointed, but I want others to know that it's not what it once was. I won't be ordering from there again.
Got Combo Rice and Lo Mein which were good the rice didnt have as much meat as the lo mein and the lo mein was just much better tasting. The rice wasnt bad just below average for the price. I would say the same for the orange chicken it had a good tasting sauce but the chicken was half batter and did not taste very good quality. My order was supposed to be one hour but it took two hours, but the food was hot and fresh. I much prefer rice and noodle but this place isnt bad.

Food here is usually good & they've replaced any spoiled food but were very apprehensive & refused replacing the order. They don't realize how a missing dish can ruin the meal. Today they've refused replacing ANYTHING because I didn't call them at 10pm (picked up order at 9:30pm) on mother's day, after we already had to go elsewhere to eat. Headed up there to talk to a manager about business ethics. I'll post the conversation.
Delivery seems to be the day-old "rewarmed" food. We've given them a couple of chances to improve because we used to like their food. Last time they didn't seem to care much about my humble and tactful feedback. This being my final call to Rice Lovers, I'm genuinely curious how our experience will be received. I'll update if it's interesting in either direction.

So my order was delivery. Guy was very nice. Some what on time. Food was barely Lukewarm . The pork fried rice was dry and very tiny bit of pork. The pad thai was all stuck together. I couldn't even get a forkful with out it being stuck together clumps. Very very disappointed. Especially with what the price turned out to be !!!!! Just HORRIBLE !!!!!
The honey garlic chicken tasted like pure, incredibly sweet honey. There was 0 taste of garlic.. The ribs were very tough and dry, and the rice was really dry as well. It was bad enough that I threw it away, and I very rarely throw away food. Even the appetizers were disappointing.
Beyond awful. Whatever happened needs to be addressed before more customers are gone. We have been using them for years but after tonight that’s over. Will be looking for another takeout. All Three entrees were cold. The so called sweet n sour chicken was old, microwaved and just nasty. Skip this place and eat frozen Chinese from Walmart. I guarantee it will be much better. So done with this place!
My wife and I have ordered food from Rice Lover's a few times a year over the past several years. I always notice some inconsistency in food quality at this place however our latest order was absolutely terrible. The hot and sour soup might as well have been labeled 'warm water'. The hot sauce chicken was basically the same.. it was bad. This is the first review I've ever written.. it was that bad. I took it back and got a refund.. again, something I've never done before. I got to watch the waiter take the food back to the back where I could see two cooks laughing as they spoke. Yuk, yuk, and yuk.. never again.
I ordered the house special that was suppose be “spicy” - it wasn’t. It tasted like they packed 4 bags of sugar into the food . Chicken was not properly cooked. Tasted microwave as some prts were cold and the others parts were hot. Rice portion was extremely small. I have never thrown up in a restaurant before but this was my first. Definitely not returning.
This was the worst delivery experience I've ever had. If I could give 0 starts , I would. My food arrived 1 hr and 20 minutes after I ordered. I understand that deliveries are heavy on a Friday evening, but more than an hour is crazy. Then we dig in to find out that the jalepeno' chicken was burned. Not just singed around the edges, but full on black, stuck to the bottom of the pan and smelled like an ash tray, burned. So, I called Rice Lover's to make a complaint. The person that answered the phone said she needed to speak with the owner and could I please hold? After holding for 10 minutes, I was fed up, so grabbed the container and drove to the restaurant while remaining on hold. I admit this was unconventional and somewhat bordering on crazy, but it had been a long week and this was madness. I arrived in the parking lot when the phone was picked up again and I was offered a 10% discount on my $45 meal. I proceeded to go inside with said charcoal-like food and the front staff agreed that my food was indeed burned. After they conferred in the back with the owner, they agreed to reimburse me for that entree; not the entire meal, just that entree. Not the way to win yourself back to a frustrated customer. I will never return to this restaurant and I advise you to stay far, far away. There are many worthy restaurants to spend you hard earned wages on, but this is not one of them.
Best Chinese BBQ merged with Rice Lovers but they do NOT taste the same at all. I loved Best Chinese BBQ. I Do NOT like the food from Rice Lovers. It still has a bad taste just like a year ago when I tried it. Chicken is breaded in so much flour it tastes like flour and is over cooked and tough. Rice is boring. Egg roll threw away because it tastes like cinnamon and nutmeg. I'm done with Chinese food now this place is disgusting!!!!!! Yuck! Not good quality!
Last December We waited over an hour for our food and my kids chicken wasn’t cooked to temperature...blood was oozing out of the chicken. The owner an older lady denied it being under cooked. Won’t go there anymore. For anyone who still feels like going, check your food before biting into it and Be careful.
We have been eating at this restaurant for almost 4 years now. We WERE a faithful customer. We ordered $50.00 worth of food on 02/15/2021 which is a cheap order for us. We are regulars. My daughter fixed her food and realized after taking a bite that the food tasted funny and there was a smell. My husband immediately started calling Rice Lover's to let them know that the food tasted spoiled. He didn't get an answer then we called the following day to let them know. I was told if we have not touched the food they could reimburse me , but if we had touched any of the food at all there was nothing they could do. I tried calling back to speak with the owner and they kept looking at their caller Id and would not answer the phone. I would have to say they have lost a loyal customer. I would have to rate them at a 1 star. Very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
