Casa maya Mérida Reviews
This old colonial building is very interesting and is atmospheric. The menu is mainly Yucatan, and the food is very good. The staff are polite, English speaking and very attentive. I took my guests there and it was a big success.
Came in for appetizers and cocktails. Yamil was a wonderful server and was very helpful with the menu. The guacamole maya was delicious!!
From the outside this restaurant does not look interesting, but when first inside it is amazing. Placed in an old renovated colonial style building, you can enjoy a good meal and drinks sitting in the cousy yard. We had the classic burger and the traditional pork belly with a mole style sauce. It tasted just wonderful. The burger is one of the best i have ever tasted. The service is great and price are average to the area. I very highly recommend this place for it burgers, the traditional food and the atmosphere😋
Went here twice now for lunch; both times on day trips to Merida on shore excursions. The place was decorated for Dia de Los Muertos, and the place looked so cool and festive! We started out with some local dark beers from Ceiba, a great Marzen style copper ale that I'd similar to Negra Modelo, but slightly less hoppy...Great with spicy food. We also tried their house margaritas on the rocks, which were fantastic. The Appetizer was their signature guacamole dip, with mango, which had a nice balance of flavors and was super fresh. The beef taco plate has three street tacos with nice tender strips of flank steak with little strips of Serrano peppers, onions served with a hot and tasty tinga sauce. Do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner when you visit Merida, and browse their gift and art shop for locally made artwork and jewelry.
This restaurant is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen! I couldn’t stop looking around. This is an Instagram paradise to be honest. The food and drinks were also delicious. Lots of the drinks come with a popsicle, too! I got the tacos casa maya and loved them. They were HUGE and so flavorful! I would definitely come back here. The only downside is that it was hot and humid; they have fans to help, but if you’re sensitive to heat, maybe come when it’s a comfortable temperature.
The place looks like a fun art museum! Everything from the entrance and center atrium (which looks like an open-space but actually has a proper roof that lets sunlight in, to the indoor airconditioned dining area and souvenir shop. Service was also excellent as well. We just had coffee and sweets and they weren’t bad at all either. I wish I wasn’t so full to try their pasta dishes which looked so good too! This was a nice place to take a lot of fun photos and enjoy a nice afternoon away from the sun.
Maybe got lucky that day but…. Delicious. Great variety of options including various local classic but not only. Great spot for satisfying your mouth and craving for local art crafts. In the picture some of the dishes that took my heart out. Don’t leave without trying the guacamole. For more experiences like this follow @quiquinnv

Hidden court in Calle 62, in modern Mexican style! Food was good, rich and big portions! We came for breakfast and we were highly satisfied! Cool place where to refresh yourself during hot days! …
We ate here twice during the week we spent in Merida. Fun experiences. The drinks are good. The food is very good. Mostly takes on local Yucatan dishes.
My daughter and I happened upon this restaurant not far from our hotel later one evening and though close to closing were served delicious food and drinks. I asked for a ¨Jalapeño margarita¨ and…
We ordered the Mayan guacamole and spinach dip as a late afternoon snack to hold us over to dinner. The guacamole was unique and worth a try. It in addition to the normal guacamole ingredients, it comes with mango, habanero oil, and goat cheese. The spinach dip was more like cheese dip with spinach in it. It was good. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and attached to a Mayan art store. The service provided by Kevin was attentive and professional.
Food and service are very good. Interesting decor. BUT we got a business card from a guy in the plaza advertising a free drink. When we arrived there they denied us a free drink we could only get a margarita that we didn’t want. That made us unhappy and we don’t like dishonesty. A free drink is a free drink !
This restaurant is very pretty and the food is good but needs a little more flavor. Staff was very kind and helpful. The drinks were also very good. I got the classic burger and strawberry smoothie. The smoothie was very sweet and I asked for well done meat, but they brought it medium rare. Overall, the price is a bit more expensive but it was okay.
Spanish pizza had some delicious meats on it, and I was surprised how much I liked it (although it doesn’t compare to any NY pizza). It was a busy evening and the service was average. Environment is eclectic, maybe a bit weird. I felt like I was eating in a mall food court. The restaurant is surrounded by retail stores. This at least gives you something to do while waiting for your order.
The food was average, but at the end we were pressured to increase our tip beyond what we had already left. In Mexico, tipping is voluntary by law, and this kind of behavior feels dishonest and unp…

Fun, funky setting, good food, and generous portions. Conversation was a bit difficult over the pulsating disco beat, service was spotty, and it was the most expensive dinner we had in Merida, alt…
This was a good meal near the city center after our tour. We had tasty guacamole, pork tacos and a delicious guava cheesecake with shredded sharp cheddar over the top of it. It was all delicious
We were kind of scammed into this place. Promised this would be real authentic mayan cuisine. It was average at most. Not special at all. It had all kinds of non Mexican food on the menu. Shabby furniture. Dirty cutlery. It also did not help that waiter Yamil was acting as if we were best friends, shaking hands, being all pushy and obtrusive.
⚠️Be aware of the waiter in the restaurant who say he’s a professor and lead you to an «Ephemeral market » after your meal, where they sell Maya artisanal objet and Stone. It’s a good place to visit BUT TO NOT BUY OVER THERE!! they are scamming you and get angry if you don’t buy anything !! About the restaurant: The waiter with the blue shirt was really nice. The food was not bad but not good to be honest, it doesn’t worth the price. The Piña colada was Really good !

I met a man there that sat me at a table and had the wait staff take care of me. He spoke good English and talked about a special event that would be taking place at Chichen Itza on the spring so…
None of the food had any taste. All the dishes were very plain. Had to pour a half a bottle of habanero sauce to make it taste like anything. The staff messed up our order several times. They even did not recommend several of their own dishes
The food is bland, expensive, and takes a very very long time to be served. Our group was on a tour from our cruise and this place was designated we let our server know that we had a limited time to eat but after over an hour most of our party did not get to eat because their plates did not arrive on time. When we tried canceling a plate of food the server said he had informed us it would take time (he did not) and the plate would get charged to him if we decided we no longer wanted to wait, so we waited and when it arrived it the food was not cooked through. The place is very insta worthy and gorgeous but that place doesn’t represent Mexican cuisine.
