Matilda Salón Mexicano Mérida Reviews
I LOVED THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! I had a delicious salad (see pics). I loved the toppings and dressing (Caesar). I also love the traditional Mexican ambiance, and some nights they have Mariachis playing, or other live music. The other dishes were so- so, the service was ok. But the salad, and ambiance make up for what's missing.
Excellente! Great room, space and to start, the drinks are original and fantastic. Seems like there's a proper bartender here and the amount of booze in the drinks match the cocktail. Conchinita pibil does not disappoint and service was impeccable. The deserts are beautiful but large so get ready to share. A little pricey but you won't flinch after the spectacular meal. Portions are pretty big, but we had some great leftovers the next day.
Matilda was a surprising culinary delight found in Merida Mexico. We were taken there by friends who recommended it & I am SO pleased we tried it! An incredible fusion of Yucatan/Mexico City's finest flavours in a restaurant w a cool sophistication you'd find anywhere in the the world's best dining spots.
We really enjoyed our meals here. The salsas they offered as complementary were especially good. We had the guacamole to start which was very tasty. My partner had the grilled chicken complete with platano and mole which he said was very good. I had the shrimp tacos, which were easily the most delicious shrimp tacos I've ever had. It was not busy in this restaurant and it was easy to get a seat. Slightly unexpected location just south of the main Zocalo, worth seeking it out.
My husband and I stopped in this restaurant when we were exploring El Centro, downtown Mérida. We both ordered the arachera and it was delish. But what was really amazing was the starter guacamole …

We had a lovely meal here - the atmosphere was relaxed and the food was great. The staff were also very attentive and helpful - Adrian who looked after us was great. Would recommend!
Great ambiance, service and good food for an affordable price. The place is equiped with airconditioning, so on the hot mornings it's good for breakfast. It's kids friendly and has wifi.

Great food, great atmosphere, but average service. This was our last night in Mexico and we wanted to eat at a proper restaurant. This place has a cozy ambience as it's well lit and decorated. The food was delicious, I can definitely recommend the lamb barbacoa! The cocktails and especially the mezcal mule is very much recommended! Sadly the service was a bit unprofessional, first of all we were overcharged on the water as the price was higher on the bill than on the menu, then the manager started a discussion with me, as I showed that on the paper menu the price was lower, he wanted to correct me by showing the price was higher on the online menu, thats honestly very rude as its a mistake in their paper menu, and we use the paper menu so why be a 'know it all' towards your guests. Secondly when the waiter took my credit card, instead of letting me decide she decided to accept the awful conversion rate offered by the local bank instead of declining it and letting my own bank do the conversion. This added an unnecessary 7-8% to our bill. Overall we are satisfied with our last dinner and the staff was definitely friendly but just very clumsy!
Good food. Great service. Nice venue. Central location. A place that many tourists go to, so if you're trying to find a "less-touristy" place, this is not your spot. While I didn't consume alcohol beverages, it was evident at the bar and on their menu that their selection of alcohol was wide. I'd visit the restaurant again.

The food was delicious, but the waiter was a bit off. He made several awkward remarks and when inquiring about allergies the communication was far from reassuring, resulting in my girlfriend stressing out for an hour because without telling us they changed her order into something else which (after googling the sauce recipe) may still contain nuts. Overall not a good place to go with food allergies, for lack of clear communication. When after this adventure I decided to not tip I was pretty much coerced into still tipping which I refused, getting an angry glare from the waiter and some petty remarks. His hospitality clearly was but a thin veil.
The food was absolutely amazing. The service not so. When we sat down, the gentleman started pouring us coffee not asking if we wanted coffee. We had to ask for a menu. We were never welcomed into the restaurant nor did he come back to check if we needed anything. I can find better places in Merida to spend my money with amazing service.

Tourist trap warning, don't be fooled. Looks nice and the food presentation is great, but that is the only positive about this restaurant. We should have known by the lack of local patrons. Poor service, the staff is more concerned about looking at their phones behind the bar than the customers. The food is bland and lacks any Yucatan flavours, tortillas are industrial, even the guacamole was off-putting. You could almost tell the waiters were ashamed of serving it.. Our worst dinner in Mexico, I'm sorry to say.
Very disappointing experience. The soup and the main course were served at the same time, which shows a complete lack of organization. One of our ordered dishes never arrived at all. We waited a long…
