Reggae Wings & Tings Mesquite Reviews
Favorite Jamaican spot closest to me. I love their seasoned fried okra!
I’m at a lost for words. The first Jamaican Spot I tried in TX disappointed me so much that I was almost scared to try again. But THIS PLACE? Raggae Wings & Tings!? ON POINT!! Everything was beyond my expectations!! It’s authentic. It’s Fresh. It’s delicious. You HAVE to try it!! The food was AMAZING and so was the customer service!! 10/10 absolutely recommend! The food was so good I didn’t even make it to taking pictures. But we got the Chicken Curry, the Brown Stew Chicken, The oxtail, and the Jerk Shrimp. Our sides were rice n peas, cabbage, and macaroni cheese for everything. We also got a few pieces of Coco Bread and Plaintains. EVERYTHING was banging. I personally like my plantains fried HARD and these were more on the soft side but they were still SO GOOD!! I’m definitely going back!! I’m in LOVE!! 😍🥰
I was craving jerk chicken..had this place saved on my instagram to visit..it was easy to find..fair prices..I ordered the small jerk chicken plate, 1 beef and chicken patty, a side of fried okra, mac & cheese and a pineapple & ginger drink.. $23ish..great service..AMAZING AND HOT FOOD.. OMG..I'll be back
I wanted some authentic Jamaican food while visiting Mesquite TX and my guy suggested this place. It did not disappoint!!. We ordered oxtail, mac and cheese, rice and peas, jerk chicken, cabbage, spicy orange wings, pound cake and rum cake. Everything thing was good but the star of the show was the mini coconut muffin thing. OMG, they were so good paired with the dishes and I normally don't like coconut anything. The service was welcoming and the atmosphere was pleasant. We will be returning.
The food was incredible and felt like home to me. The oxtail was just as good (or better, shhhhh) as my great grandma used to make! The Cuban version is only slightly different. Will definitely be back. It's hard to find REAL home style cooking these days.
Like everyone else is saying the Jerk Chicken is off the chain. Best we had since Jamaica. I chose the 2 sides as rice and fried plantain. The rice/beans I had was little on the dry side. Plantains were amazing. I got a large and it was enough for 2 people. Would recommend and will be my Jerk spot.
Finally Jamaicans in Texas that know exactly what they are doing in the kitchen! By far some of the best oxtail I've ever eaten. The spice perfect, seasoning perfect, rice and peas (although they were kidney beans) still perfect. I sat and looked at the empty container bc I honestly didn't expect to be good. The brown stew chicken is hittin too. Plantains were perfectly cooked. I'm mad I didn't know this place existed when I first ventured out for Jamaican food. All good I'll be back! December 2024 update So I moved away after the original post some years ago and recently moved back to Dallas and came to eat here again and it's still fire!!! This reminds me of the jamaican food I got living in the north east. Glad to know someone can maintain standards for food and vibes. I never get pics before lol I apologize but trust me you'll understand why.
Great great people all around! Family owned and food is off the chain woooooweeee!!!!!! Mesquite got a good little spot right here!
I've been wanting to try this place out for awhile and OMG they didn't disappoint. I ordered the oxtails, rice, and plantain the oxtails where falling off the bone, the rice and beans where a little spicy which was good and the plantains where really good. The cook also spoke and made me feel welcomed which was cool. I requested a son Murda She Row and the manager/ owner granted my request. I really would recommend this restaurant to all who likes good food, music, and a nice atmosphere.
Love the food here. Authentic Jamaican culinary. The oxtails always is winner for me.
In the mood for some island food? Look no further! Thursday night and we were in the mood for some spice and comfort. Enter Reggae Wings & Tings!! This Caribbean eatery in Mesquite is a black owned establishment, that strives to bring good vibes and food to all. The party starts in the parking lot! As you drive up, you are greeted by reggae music that prepares you for all that is inside. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful art that makes you feel like you are peeking into memories of island bliss. The staff is friendly and makes it a point to make you feel like you are part of the family. The menu is full of your typical caribbean favorites. Jerk Chicken, Oxtails, Rice and Peas. All the tings that tickle the senses. Sah and I decide to divide and conquer the menu by sharing. It's a good thing that we did! These people are looking to FEED YOU! Once you leave, be quick to head straight home, because the I'TIS is on the way! The small Jerk Chicken, with Rice & Peas, and Plantains is a meal upmatched! At first, I was a little skepitcal since the chicken was oven baked, but I am here to tell you; THEY DID THAT! The chicken was juicy, spicy, and had the reminiscent char we experienced in Jamaica. The "small" was also dag gone near a HALF CHICKEN! The rice and peas were flavorful, but the plantains? Deep amber and carmarlized, pillows of fried plantain goodness. If you do nothing else, be sure to order these! We also ordered the 6 wings and fries in the Bob Marley flavor. The wings were cooked to perfection, well sauced and just the right amount of spice. The fries were fresh and hot(truly the only way) and in a heaping mound! Served with dipping sauce. Now, the dipping sauce was kind of weird. Similar to a broken ranch, but didn't quite taste like it. Honestly, I can't wait to eat my way through the menu. Island worthy, CHECK IT OUT!!
There's not alot to say other than these fine people definitely know what they're doing. I've been on a strictly all wings diet to help me with my weight loss (I've gone from 197 to 178 in almost two months) and these wings have been the sole reason for that. Two thumbs definitely all the way up🙏
One of the best restaurants in mesquite Texas, pleasant atmosphere, courteous staff, always greeted with a smile, not to mention the delicious food, oxtail, jerk chicken, I had a great time this weekend, this is my #1 spot in Texas when I visit. Big up management 👏
The jerk chicken is good! The oxtails are awesome especially with the boiled dumplings. The pound cake is the best pound cake I've ever tasted. As a matter of fact, it's the best pound cake in the world!
not only was the food on point but they had so many options for kids and adults that the whole family would be satisfied here! I've gone multiple times and the rasta pasta is exquisite🤤 the sauce they use is beyond good then the shrimp on top? 10/10 every time. if you like supporting local businesses you won't regret spending your money here
First time trying oxtails after years and years of people telling me to get some. Although it's a bit of work trying to get the meat off the bone, I will say for a first time, Raggae Wings and Tings definitely hit the spot. My wife had the jerk chicken and it was also delicious. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and get more jamaican flavor.
First time :) Jerk chicken with mac n cheese, plantains, 1 chicken pie and x2 meat pies. Nice portions! Everything tasted like a home cooked meal and was authentic. The jerk chicken is tender and falls off of the bone. The meat pie crust is so flaky and delicous I will be back to try other items on menu
Customer service was SUPERIOR!! I came by 4/16 to try the jerk chicken plate. I never heard of them just googled something and decided to give them a try. I honestly didn’t have much expectations of this place, but I was honestly shocked at how good the food was and I never knew about them sooner seriously!!! The young lady working the front was very gracious with my serving for me having to wait a while for my order (it was very fresh)… I came back the following day 4/17 just to test my luck and see if they were really that good lol, YALL that’s how good it was the Mac, cabbage, and jerk stew chicken is a BANGER!!! New favorite Thank you Marissa ❤️
If you're after a dining experience that transports you straight to the heart of the Caribbean, then you need to head to Reggae Wings & Tings. Their jerk chicken with rice and peas was an absolute revelation. The chicken was baked to perfection, generously seasoned with a balance of jerk spices that hit just the right note. The rice and peas were the perfect accompaniment, infusing every bite with a delightful taste that complemented the chicken wonderfully. In the sea of Jamaican restaurants I've been to, Reggae Wings & Tings truly stands out. It's not just about the food, it's about the experience - and they've nailed it to perfection. Undoubtedly one of the best Jamaican food experiences I've had. Five sun-soaked, flavor-filled stars!
I came in nothing but Great vibes and good atmosphere I ordered the oxtails with cabbage and rice with beans and it was absolutely amazing real home cooked meal I was extremely satisfied the flavors are their, someone’s moms back their putting their foot in that and it shows. Thank you so much I will definitely be coming back.
Had the opportunity to try out some of these wings! Really good flavor! Good quality chicken, not overcooked! And the owner and staff are great people! Very good hearted and fun. We will be going back again to try some other items on the menu! Excellent job guys! See you soon!
Best Jamaican Food i have ever tried! Food was fresh and very authentic. Owner was super nice and it was a very welcoming environment... Im definitely coming back, especially for that cabbage!!! Amazing and top notch!
The one time I got like actual food from here, I liked it, it was good, but really filling and honestly I'm not the best with picking food. But what is good are those damn French fries, I get them every single time I go, well cooked, well seasoned, it's so yum. 4.33 for maybe like 4 potatoes worth of fries, the only problem is they're not evenly seasoned. 9/10 would recommend
🌟 Just had an amazing meal at Reggae Wings and Tings! 🌟 I tried the jerk chicken, and it was absolutely delicious! Paired it with fresh spinach, rice and peas, and sweet plantains—everything was so fresh and flavorful. If you’re looking for some incredible Caribbean food, I highly recommend checking this place out! You won’t be disappointed! 🍗🌱🍚🍌 #Foodie #ReggaeWingsAndTings #CaribbeanCuisine
This was my First time but definitely not my last. Everything was 10/10 from the service to the vibes all the way to the food. Everything was delicious I love how they show you your order before packing it up as well . The portions are a great size and the jerk chicken has the perfect amount of spice .
I went here for the first time with the women from our women's ministry, and the food was outstanding! The customer service was top-tier. I didn't get the lady's name, but she had a beautiful Jamaican accent, and she made me laugh and smile. I had questions about the menu that she answered with no problem! There was a bit of a wait, but we didn't mind; we sat and talked, listening to the reggae music playing on the big screen TV. When our food came out, it was piping HOT!!! I mean, steam rising from it!!! It was so flavorful and was in a large quantity! It was spicy and just good! I had the oxtails, rice and peas, and fried okra. I had enough food for 2 days! I sampled my friend's curry goat and Rasta pasta, and it was soo good and spicy LOL!! She was sweating and eating lol! I also got a beef patty that was on point, I was mad that I didn't get two of them LOL! I will definitely be back! This is my go-to spot for Jamaican food now! We were going to go to another Jamaican food spot but changed our minds due to the reviews.... I am so glad we did!
I went in this place last night And I ordered some shrimp and wings The only qualm I had is when I ordered off the menu it “says choice of 2 sides “ because it does not specify what food actually gave the actual choice of 2 sides with the meals with no extra charge ! So I wind up accidentally buying 2 sides with my order thinking they came with my order. It just be more specified on the menu. But when I tell you the food is so damn good like omg and you get serious bang for your buck!!!! It’s well worth it and at that point I wasn’t even tripping about the price after I saw how you much got for the side of fires 🔥 I’m so serious I highly recommend this place The seasoning, the preparation, the wait time, the environment, the staff. I loved everything about this place !!!!!!! Definitely will be back and I will brings others and spread the word on how good this place is!!!!! New favorite restaurant!!!!!!!!
My boyfriend and I both ordered the large size of the Jerk Chicken plate. I chose mac n cheese and fries as my sides, he chose mac n cheese and white rice. The proportions were HUGE! We could’ve shared a single plate & it would’ve been more than enough. It was $15 a plate & for the amount of food we received that’s veryyy reasonable. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, wasn’t dry, & had just enough spice too it. The mac n cheese was very good. Full of flavor and creamy. The fries even had a seasoning on them that was good. The lady who helped us was very kind & patient with helping us look through the menu. There’s a stage for live music but when we came they just had music playing over the speakers. We both can’t wait to try more on the menu.
We had jerk chicken, Marci's Orange Shrimp, peas and rice, cabbage, fries, okra and meat pies. The seasoning on the chicken was on point, good balance of flavor and heat
Usually have good food i like the portions they really do you up. Its something different in this area to have Jamaican food. I recommend the chicken stew, curry chicken, and rice and peas. Would give 5 starts but last time I got the steamed spinach and it was so salty I had to throw it away....
I love this place. I think they have the best Oxtails that I have tasted in Dallas. Nothing compares to Jamaican Oxtails. They Fried Okra is a favorite of my husband along with the Plantains. My only let down was my oxtail were not heated enough and the Mac and Cheese which is my usual favorite was over heated to the point it was dried out. I will still return hoping it was just an off day. Service is always on point very nice people.
Jamaican restaurant in Mesquite TX.. a rarity in itself. Easily accessible from Hwy 635 or Hwy 80 on Towneast BlVD. Plenty of seating to accommodate a large crowd. Plenty of parking Texas style. The atmosphere is proper and chill with plenty of wall decor to showcase Jamaica along with some nice reggae that give you that Jamaican IRIE vibration. ****So what about the food.. Keep in mind Jamaican food is known for many various special flavoured meats like Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, Steam fish and crackers, Oxtails, ackee and Salt fish (salted cod), festivals, Patties.. etc. and the big grandfather to vegan the Ital (Hi-tal) dishes. My order was simple rice and peas(red beans), plantains and Okra.. the servings were plenty to give one that belly full sleepy feel . Honestly cannot comment on the meat style dishes (not my thing) but based on the large amount of guests that were observed coming in/out for take out orders of the various flavours, there are good offerings for the meat lovers. This is ah non-chain local owners setup, please support the small business. Will definitely be returning with family and friends.
I have been here plenty of times. The wait time is long so call to order or plan accordingly. If planning on eating inside it is hot and kind of dark. The food is always delicious however the rice and peas are hit or miss. Most of the time the rice is not done, extra crunchy, and dry other then that the food is delicious. ***Also the beef patties are not authentic they come frozen out the box.***
Had the jerk chicken meal with rice and peas and macaroni and cheese. I didn't enjoy it, it was extremely to hot and spicy, couldn't eat much of it. Definitely will not be going back there. It is for acquired taste.
Having worked in the hospitality industry I'm accustomed to the terms front of house and back of house. Front of house at this hotel is impressive. These are the images that you see on the internet. Back of the house needs some updates. I pay attention to details that most people look over. Rusted light fixtures, corrosion on shower fixtures, popcorn ceiling falling apart, torn lampshades in guest rooms, musty odors from old carpet that needs shampooing. Obviously an older facility.
First time ordering from here and smelled amazing as soon as we got it wings were spot on cream cheese pound cake delicious ❤ HOWEVER had to wait over an hour which was fine because I understand it gets very busy, we were missing our fried dumplings favor took care of that, the bread that came with it was rock hard, and the chicken curry had so many different size bones in it my husband nearly choked on one and another caused him to bleed he had to pick through his food instead of enjoying it he got frustrated and gave up trying to eat it we got ahold of the manager wanting a refund but unfortunately they don't do refunds (never heard of a restaurant that didn't offer refunds) but what he did offer was to replace it with something else which we refused because we didn't want anything else so with that being said the wings is all I'd recommend this place for the wings are good ❤
The food tasted pretty good. We ordered ahead and arrived 30 minutes later and still had to wait an hour for the order, no apology. I don't usually order their cabbage. It made my family sick. It was the only item we all had in common, and that is why we believe that it was the cabbage.
I've noticed that the food is getting lesser and they don't follow instructions on your order the meat has been dry with little sauce added
1st time here....The food is good and has good flavor but my oxtails were not fully cooked. Oxtails cost to much to be tuff.. cabbage stir fry was my favorite bit I suggest getting it in a separate container if you don't want all the juice from the meat all in it. The Mac and cheese was my least favorite and that could be all the juice in it. The jerk chicken and rice/peas was good! I will definitely give it another try.
Wings and fries were fire! I ordered the Lemon Pepper, fries and wings were seasoned perfectly. I ordered the jerk chicken sandwich and it was so dry it wasn’t edible. I had to throw it away. Very disappointed. Service was great and atmosphere was also great.
The food at this place is amazing. The service is hit or miss. I've ordered from this restaurant many times. At first I was ordering online through a third party app, a lady who I am assuming is the owner asked me to stop because they have to pay for the service and this is were my problems began. When I was ordering on the app, my food was hot, and ready in the time that I was told and I got text updates and alerts about my order progress. The next time when I wanted to order I called and no one answered the phone. The second time I called and put in my order and when I went up there, it was not ready after 30 minutes. The third time that I called to put in an order I put in my order at 1:25 PM I got to the restaurant at 2 which is 30 minutes later, I stood by the front counter for about five minutes and then I decided to go get a drink out of the refrigerators on the side and came back to stand in line for another five minutes and no one ever came to the front. I left and went to my car and called them at about 210 to ask them about my order and they said it was not ready. I told them just to cancel it because it had already been over 30 minutes and I was already at the restaurant waiting with no help. It is not uncommon for me to put in orders and to stand in line for 10,15,20 minutes because no one's at the front. They have bells on their door, but the music is louder than the bells so they don't know when people walk in. I could have walked out with my drink, and they would have never known
As much as I wanted to love this place, I have to be honest about my experience. I was really excited to try this restaurant after seeing so many great reviews, but unfortunately, I left disappointed. Originally, I wanted to order takeout, but my husband suggested we dine in and enjoy the meal there. As soon as we walked in, the smell inside was a bit overwhelming—it immediately made us reconsider staying, but we decided to give it a fair chance. I ordered the jerk chicken plate with plantains, rice, and a side of cabbage. My husband ordered the (6) Reggae Wings without a side. When it came time to pay, I noticed that the total seemed higher than expected. I requested a printed receipt (as shown on the screen), but the cashier set it aside instead of handing it to me. I asked again for a copy and that’s when I realized the first issue: the prices being charged were higher than what was listed on the menu. On top of that, my husband was charged for a wings combo even though he clearly asked for wings only. My husband told me not to worry about it and to just enjoy the meal. After waiting about 30 minutes, our order was finally ready. When we checked it, we noticed that even though we were charged for the combo, no fries were included. When my husband asked for them, the staff said since he asked for wings only, they didn’t make the fries. Even after showing them the receipt, they refused to provide the fries, saying that was the only way to ring it up. If that’s the case, then we should’ve received the fries. Not wanting to make a scene, we decided to just take the loss and leave. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t make up for the experience. The presentation wasn’t appealing, the flavor was lacking, and the plantains were mushy. I truly wanted to love this restaurant, but overall, it just wasn’t worth it. I hope this review reaches the owner so these issues can be addressed for future customers.
My coworkers and I decided to try this place out as we've heard nothing but good things about it. Fir starters, the lemon pepper wings were the star of the show. They were cooked very well and seasoned to perfection!! The jerk chicken was good as well, along with the cabbage which was very good. Now the rice and peas, had no flavoring whatsoever. The oxtails had a good flavor but they were so tough, you couldn't really enjoy them. The spinach was good as well as the fried bread. The jerk salad wasn't anything to write about as it was just meat and lettuce, literally. We also tried the curry chicken, which had a good flavor not sure it was authentic though. The chicken patty, barely had any fillings and it didn't really taste like anything. The macaroni was just okay. I'd definitely go back for the wings though, lol
I called and asked for the lunch special as I normally do. I told them I wanted oxtail gravy over my rice. The last time I paid for it and they didn’t give it to me. They said no problem I said is The jerk chicken fresh because when I got it a few weeks back, it was dry. She stated to me it’s always fresh. I said ma’am, I don’t mean to be rude but the last time I got it, it was not fresh and I enjoy you guys’s food, when it is fresh. She said it was fresh I came and got it and in fact it was old like I thought it would be jerk chicken is not enjoyable when it is dry.
Where do I start , don’t let the photos fool you, iPhone quality.... rice and beans where so dry definitely not cooked on same day,, they jerk chicken tasted so dry and old I know for a fact it was heated up in the microwave DONT FLEX they didn’t even bother adding sauce “the sauce was missing” , won’t even touch on the cabbage.
I hate to do this, but I am sharing this review in the hopes the business takes the feedback to improve. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. Customer service was great I was thanked and told that I am appreciated. I got a small jerk chicken plate with rice and peas and plantain. I also got a veggie patty. I did get food late, after 3pm so the quality may not have been great due to timing. The jerk chicken was dry and did not taste great. The plantains were so mushy, almost like baby food. The best part of the meal was the rice and peas. Unfortunately due to the quality of the meal and the price, I will not be returning.
Ordered take out on August 14, 2025. Oxtails, peas/rice and Mac/cheese. Also a slice of pound cake. The rice, Mac/cheese and the cake was old. Nothing about those sides was fresh. I wasted $34.00. Live in McKinney so I couldn’t take it back just threw it out👎🏾
It’s a no for me. Rice and peas has no flavor. The curry chicken was missing the flavor And the curry! They gave out order to someone else so we either had to wait an additional 15 min after waiting 35 min for our take out or get jerk chicken. The wings I did order had little to nothing garlic Parmesan sauce. It’s a no! Disappointed!
This food is horrible the worst I have ever had. The cabbage taste old or spoiled. The Stewed Chicken is pink under cooked. The jerk chicken tastes weird the stewed chicken tastes bad. Rice and peas no taste just the stink from the chicken. $25.00 wasted. Never in my life have I had Jamaican food this bad.The people are very nice and the place was clean. Good music.
I got the jerk chicken, rice and peas and cabbage. The chicken tasted like dirt LITERALLY. The rice and peas seem to be missing coconut milk and the peas were dried out. The inside of the chicken was dark and I didn’t like that. It’s not giving authentic Jamaican food.
for the uber eats service is super slow, the worker who serves the client has no attitude to work. I spent 45 minutes waiting and the restaurant is totally empty.
I had purchased a Large Oxtails. The food started out Good at first. As I got half way through with my meal I found strips of cardboard paper in my oxtails gravy. I then stopped eating, and let staff know what I found. Their reply was sorry, we do our best. SO THE MEAT IS NOT WASHED before cooking. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Very nasty … jerk chicken over cooked and was old not fresh at all I was picking through it to get meat that wasn’t hard .. cabbage old and stinky rice and peas old and dry I believe everything sits and nothing is made fresh even the cream cake was very dry. The Mac and cheese even stunk … I took one bite and through it in the trash. Music too loud just overall not a good first time experience. I will never cheat on JAMAICAN cook shop again. The lady at the front was nice but that’s it. I Wasted $24 bucks.
Baught food at this place, rice and peas with jerk porke, white rice and jerk chicken, and got over night sour food I drove an hour out or id sure to take it back .....Never again please try your food b4 you leave when you buy at this place .
*****This is Baked Jerk****** *Horrible horrible Horrible! I don’t recommend any one who loves the Caribbean island tastes of Jamaica! to go here.(1st issue)They’re selling Sorrel with rum without informing you. I specifically asked if you had sorrel and the lady said yes!! Not sorrel and Rum. Like that’s not professional nor cool. I have high blood pressure and to be drinking alcohol at lunch time isn’t it. Secondly, Be prepared to get child size portion of fry’s literally for adult meal with wings. Last but not least the rice and peas is just plain white rice and red beans without the herb’s and coconut Jamaicans use to make rice and peas. I don’t recommend anyone. There was not a lunch special requested FYI
Been eating at this restaurant for the past 10 years the owner has always gave best food with great service. Well this new lady i guess her daughter sold me some dried up jerk chicken And never had a problem until this last visit. So I called back to tell them about my food she was very rude put me on hold for 6 minutes 38 seconds and talking shit. Told me she would replace my dinner not I'm 45 minutes away without traffic so I'm not going back the same day go back the next week they ask for some 2 week old children and I had my receipt. Check your food before you leave.
I was attempting to pick up an online order placed by my GF. The employee at the counter wouldn’t accept a name when picking up the order, and kept asking for screenshot of the order which was provided. Once provided the employee found out they hadn’t made the online order at all, so I was going to have to wait, and was told it would take 5 minutes. After 15 minutes of waiting, I approached the counter again asked about the food to the manager, only to be informed again I needed the order details and a name wasn’t good enough despite me just talking to someone. After I had brought my GF to the counter to provide all the order details in person, the food that should’ve been ready 30 minutes prior was brought out at the same time. Now all of this wouldn’t be an issue if the food was good, but they couldn’t even make decent food after all that time. The jerk chicken was dry with spice but no flavor, coco bread was undercooked with raw dough in the center, and the only good part of the meal was the sides. I’d recommend you just avoid this place as it’ll just give you a migraine having to deal with them.
Man i drove a while just to come and try them out. Heard Dee Dee from K104 speak highly of them. So we parked, we got out, walked in the door and we both looked at each other and decided to turn around. We didn't get a chance to tried the food so we dont know how good it was, it probably was delicious! Whoever we could NOT bare the sewer smell walking into the restaurant. I'm sure it isnt their fault, I'm sure they sold or rented it out to them that way and its messed up. If they ever moved somewhere else I'll be back!! Sorry, not trying to bash, i blame the owner of the building.
Excessive wait times, ignoring customers on long line but taking all calls. Kitchen and bathroom looks poorly maintained.
50 min for pasta and shrimp is a bit extreme. I've never had to wait so long. There were people waiting longer. I asked for a refund and was made to wait until my food was ready. Owners, please fix this. In the past the food has been outstanding, but not worth the wait.
The food is a poor representation of our Caribbean cuisine and the staff is soooooo rude! I called about my order and was given the royal run around before the lady on the other line said “ma’am I have to go” before hanging up in my face!!!!!!!! All I was trying to do was track my order I placed 3 hours ago!!!!! I have never encountered such gross disrespect.
I was looking for a good Jamaican Food restaurant here in Dallas because I’m new here. I ordered the Curry Chicken and was terribly disappointed, the rice was OLD & HARD like it was leftover from 3 days ago. The Chicken had some kind of “Jelly-like” substance (SEE PHOTO) in it and there wasn’t a curry flavor at all, it just taste like smothered chicken & Jelly. Coming from a state like California where there is authentic Jamaican Food, I can honestly say that this was definitely a disappointment.
I had been wanting to try their food again because I had tried there chicken wings a year or so back. I had business in the neighborhood so I decided to try because they have a lunch special for $7.99. I ordered the chicken curry which a customer told me was good. When the cashier told me how much it was it was 1399 plus they charge me for the drink and an appetizer meat pie. It was $24 and I tipped them 15%. The portions were large especially the beans and rice, plenty of chicken, but I did not like the cabbage, it had a sour smell reminded me of something spoiled. I'm sure that's just the way it is made. When I asked about the lunch special price they said it was very small amount and that I wouldn't like it. At that point I agreed go ahead stay with the larger entree. I realized now that I do not like curry chicken and the beans and rice to me are rather Bland. I wish I had gotten the wings or shrimp as I saw other people doing but they had ordered before I even ordered and they were still waiting on their food after I head men serve and finished my meal. The most unbelievable, mind-blowing, occurrence while I was dying there, I asked the owner if I could have some hot sauce to put on my food. She looked me Square in the eye and tell me that I had to buy hot sauce because people used too much of it and it was very expensive. I replied to her that I had to spend 20 something dollars plus tip almost $5 if she was going to deny me a common courtesy of a condiment with my meal? I could not believe that she was basically accusing a paying customer because she had problems with other previous customers of being a thief of hot sauce. This was some really outrageous treatment and a ill-mannered attitude towards a potential future customer. I was not impressed with the food but I certainly was not impressed with the treatment over a $2 bottle of hot sauce from which I only needed few drops. You won't see me or my family ever patronize this establishment again. We only go where we are treated fairly and our business is appreciated.
The food is not fresh they gave me yesterday’s cabbage and yesterday’s rice and peas and the chicken was dry cooked yesterday. If you want fresh Jamaican food just GO TO JAMAICAN COOK SHOP IN MESQUITE it’s not too far from this place. I will never return this place is a waste of money. Go to the other place I suggested you’ll THANK ME LATER the food will be fresh
5/1/2025 ordered food and it had burnt pieces in it, the owner tried to tell me that she just put that one burnt piece in there and would not give me a refund. She gave me another order but by this point it wanted nothing to do with that food or the owner . The building has a BAD Oder. Yesterday was my first and last time to this establishment!!
I always come here and the more I come the less food they give me when I Frist came in I was served good amount for that price now when I order the oxtails I get 3 pieces and whole lot of rice for 29.99 that's not right hopefully next time btw food is amazing and flavor but the portion for that amount isn't good 👍
The jerk wings were old the clearly just put fresh sauce on them and reheated and maybe the same for the lemon pepper wings and those were definitely redropped from the previous day the were over cooked to the max!!!! Nothing but dry meat and a powdery crunch to the chicken then the fries were simply salt sticks and last the rum cake tast like chewing tobacco I hate i got pieces I took 2 bites out of one thru them both in the trash and the cake tasted like raisins I won't go back that was a waste of 50 bucks
I placed a to go order which was ready very quickly. When I arrived to the restaurant I realized it was a restaurant I have been to before, so I decided to also order another plate while I was there picking up my order. I had the jerk chicken, which I had before delicious this time it was so spicy and I’m Mexican and I love spicy, but that’ all I could taste the rice and peas There were a couple of times where I got hard pieces in my mouth it was tasting stale and old. Even my plantains looked old as if they’ve been fried more than once, I decided to just throw the food away. The cabbage needed more seasoning and not cooked enough and I hate to even write this because I’ve been here before and I loved their food. I don’t know what happened this time ? It was not the same this time and I had this food at least five times prior.
