Jaya at the Setai Miami Reviews
We visited this restaurant as a family and had a truly wonderful experience. From the moment you arrive, everything feels thoughtfully designed — the entrance, the surrounding area, the flow of the space. The atmosphere is elegant, refined, and almost cinematic. What we especially loved is how smoothly the evening transitions from a restaurant setting into a more vibrant bar and nightlife mood — very natural, very well done. The service was impeccable: attentive, polished, and genuinely warm. The wine list deserves special praise — extensive, well-curated, and clearly chosen with care. There is a strong sense of sophistication throughout the entire experience, almost with a subtle French flair. As for the food — almost everything was absolutely delicious. The meats, the steak, the salads, the sides — all beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Truly excellent cuisine overall. There was only one small disappointment: the Chilean Sea Bass. While visually appealing, it lacked the signature texture and flavor this fish is known for. When prepared correctly, Chilean Sea Bass should melt in your mouth — delicate, buttery, effortless. Unfortunately, in this case it tasted more like a regular white fish, served in a green sauce that didn’t elevate the dish. It wasn’t terrible, but it simply didn’t match the level of the rest of the menu. We were also a bit puzzled by the entertainment program. Short shows every 30 minutes, lasting about five minutes, felt somewhat disconnected. A brief appearance by a gymnast, while pleasant, didn’t feel particularly impactful or memorable. Perhaps a more cohesive or engaging entertainment concept would elevate the experience even further. That said, despite these minor notes, this is absolutely a five-star place. Everything here is clearly thought out down to the smallest details — from design to service to ambiance. The food is refined, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the overall experience feels luxurious and intentional. We would definitely recommend this restaurant with confidence and genuine enthusiasm. A beautiful, elegant place that leaves a lasting impression.
Breakfast at Jaya at The Setai is nothing short of extraordinary. The caviar breakfast buffet is an indulgent, beautifully curated experience that elevates the idea of a morning meal into something truly memorable. From the impeccable quality of the caviar and accompaniments to the refined presentation of every dish, everything reflects luxury, precision, and taste. The atmosphere is elegant yet calm—perfectly aligned with the serene sophistication of The Setai. Every detail feels intentional, from the table settings to the pacing of service, making the experience feel relaxed rather than rushed. A special thank you goes to our server, Leticia, who made the morning flawless. She was attentive, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable—anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Her professionalism and genuine kindness elevated the entire experience and made us feel truly welcomed and cared for. If you’re looking for one of the best luxury breakfast experiences in Miami, Jaya’s caviar breakfast buffet is an absolute must. Exceptional food, a stunning setting, and outstanding service—five stars in every sense.
The Setai’s Sunday Jazz Brunch is a Miami icon for a reason. It’s an elegant, all-you-can-eat feast paired with live jazz and bottomless Louis Roederer Champagne. The Highlights: A massive raw bar, Peking duck, and an incredible dessert station. The Setting: Dining in the sun-drenched Zen courtyard is pure paradise. The Verdict: It’s pricey, but for the world-class variety and the breezy, sophisticated atmosphere, it’s the best Sunday treat in the city.
This brunch was absolutely delightful! You can spend a beautiful and enjoyable time with your family, friends, loved ones, or even by yourself. The food is delicious and caters to every taste. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the drinks are equally impressive. This is not my first time here, and it certainly won’t be my last!
Dinner at Jaya is not just a meal — it’s a show. A sensory performance blending fine dining, artistry, and Miami glamour. I visited for dinner and was completely captivated. The live entertainment — from the fire dancers to the musicians — creates a cinematic backdrop that makes every bite feel part of the experience. The ambiance is luxurious but approachable, the kind of setting that invites celebration without pretense. The food? Absolutely outstanding. Every course was thoughtfully composed — bold yet balanced flavors, beautifully presented, and clearly crafted with passion. The service team was exceptional, managing a busy evening crowd with grace and warmth. If you’re in Miami Beach, make this one of your must-visit dinner reservations. It’s where culinary excellence meets art — and where you’ll understand why Jaya has become one of the city’s most iconic dining experiences.
A great place to go out at night and enjoy good food and a great show in a nice and crowded place; The Setai. The atmosphere is full of energy; however, expect a noisy night with good music and some delays in the service, which our server was very polite anyways. The shows are great and makes the waiting more pleasant. Paid parking available and Valet as well.
Amazing Valentine’s Day experience! We requested seating near the entertainment and they kindly accommodated us. Great views, delicious set menu, and very attentive service. The atmosphere and live performers made the night special. 10/10 — we’ll definitely be back!
Had the best experience here when we came for lunch and I wish we stayed at the hotel. The food was amazing - we tried the Miami Spice Menu and it was incredible value. The food was well seasoned, very fresh and refreshing. We also had some drinks which were equally good. Our waitress Inda was a pleasure. Told us to take a look at the pool and the beach. I will definitely consider staying here next time I am in Miami.
Went here for my birthday dinner last month and I loved it! The show is amazing! And it's every 15-20 minutes from 8pm until about 10:30pm. The lights flash when it's about to start. I had a group of 10, so the service was a bit slow. But the food was amazing! I had the salmon tartar and the pad Thai. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night or a celebration.
I proposed to my amazing wife here, and it was truly the best night of my life. The ambiance was absolutely spectacular, making the moment even more magical for my special lady. Every detail was perfect, and it’s a memory we’ll cherish forever.
Had dinner at Jaya at The Setai — such an elegant and beautiful place. 🌟 The atmosphere feels luxurious, with amazing music from the DJ that set the mood perfectly. Cocktails were delicious, the food was excellent, and it’s definitely a spot where you can dress up and enjoy a special night out. Yes, it’s pricey, but worth the experience!
Went here for my Birthday and I had a pleasant experience! Their endless options to choose from were delicious. It is on the pricey side for a Brunch ($105 pp) but it's absolutely worth it. You get endless filet, branzino, Peking duck, Asian station, made to order omelets, crepes, sushi, dessert station and much much more. And did I mention bottomless mojitos?! You also get champagne but I had my waitress make mines into Bellini's. The ambiance is pretty and all staff were super sweet. I would definitely come back here!
My boyfriend brought me here for our anniversary and everything was great! The food was delicious ( got the New York strip mash potatoes & special fried rice) and came out very fast. The entertainment was very nice as well and easy access to go in with valet parking. Overall great experience I will be back and shout to the waiter Armando very attentive and very nice thank you Armando for the dessert and all your service. Had a great dinner. Ps: The place was very nice and chill some people dressed very nice and others very casual.
I recently visited for a friend's birthday and the food here is incredible! For appetizer, we ordered the grilled octopus and it was great. Very soft and tasty. For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and it was amazing. It had plenty of chicken and it wasn't overdone with too much vinegar. As good as that was, my fiancé ordered the Peking Duck and all I could say is WOW. It was so so good. We finished it off with a hit chocolate dessert that was a great ending to a fantastic meal.
Jaya at The Setai offers an incredible brunch experience. The food options are excellent, the service is top-tier, and the atmosphere is warm, beautiful, and welcoming. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy your day. The live band adds such a vibrant, enjoyable touch. Overall, it’s an amazing brunch and dinner spot. If you’re ever in Miami, definitely check it out!
5 stars for the food, the service, and the ambiance. A beautiful courtyard setting to enjoy drinks, food, and occasional fire show or acrobat. The prices are high for the portion sizes so just know that going in. The truffle dumplings are a great starter and the cheesecake is the perfect finisher.
We had an excellent dinner at Jaya. The setting and the interior is exquisite with the indoor pond, the open space and the many plants. The food is Asian based and Thai inspired with classics like pad Thai and chicken panang. But they also serve more fusion inspired dishes like tuna tacos and truffle dumplings. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. The dishes comes quickly and the plates are cleared from the table as soon as you finish. We had an excellent experience and expect to come back and try the dinner serving. There is easy access for people with disabilities. You can also choose to sit inside and though this might be even more air conditioned I would recommend the patio anytime.
This place was absolutely amazing! The location was easy to find, and it’s set inside a beautiful hotel with a spacious, clean, and stylish atmosphere. We had a great seat with the perfect view of everything happening around us. Our waiter was very professional, and the service was top-notch. The food was excellent — everything we ordered was flavorful and beautifully presented. The drinks were also great, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and experience. The vibe was incredible! There was live entertainment, a fantastic DJ, and dancers who kept the energy high all night. The Asian-inspired theme really stood out — from the decor to the artist painting umbrellas in true Asian style. It all came together to create a fun, vibrant, and unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for a place with great food, amazing music, and an unforgettable atmosphere, this is definitely a must-do spot! I truly enjoyed everything from start to finish.
10/10 experience. I had lena as my server she was extremely attentive, friendly, and made sure we were comfortable. We went for the brunch and the selections of food were incredible and flavorful. i highly recommend.
I had an amazing experience at Jaya at The Setai. Despite reading many negative reviews about rude service, I was pleasantly surprised — the staff was professional, friendly, and very attentive throughout the evening. The atmosphere was stunning, with beautiful lighting and a serene water feature that made the whole evening feel like a getaway. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the presentation was just perfect. I truly enjoyed every moment and would absolutely come back. Sometimes it’s best to experience things for yourself!
Had an amazing night at Jaya! Big thanks to Irfan for giving us exceptional service from start to finish—attentive, genuine, and made sure we had everything we needed. The host even picked up from the reservation that it was my partner’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. The octopus was out of this world, easily the best we’ve had in years, and the sushi was unbelievably fresh and delicious.
The epitome of 5 stars. Top 5 dining experiences I’ve ever had and will definitely recommend to anybody going to Miami. Elegant, classy, and world class cuisine as well as the most unique atmosphere I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at. Go here to enjoy the finest food with an atmosphere that is luxurious and delicious.
Outstanding brunch experience. The food is excellent and the selection is enormous. From oysters and sushi to grilled meats, fish, and many other options, there’s truly something for everyone. Champagne, mimosas, tea, and more are all included in the price, which makes it feel very complete and well thought out. Service was also excellent throughout. I definitely ate more than enough and enjoyed every bite. Whenever we spend a bit more time in Miami, this is our go-to brunch spot. Highly recommended.
We were understandably hungry after our flight into town and Jaya's menu seemed intriguing. This place can be kind of tricky to find bc from the street there is a storefront but the doors are locked, you have to go through the hotel lobby to reach the restaurant. Once inside, there are two beautiful choices to sit - inside or outside at the ocean view. We chose inside bc of the wind. The staff is extremely attentive. I think we had no less than 5 different servers tending to our needs. The food was delicious. My husband got the salmon and I opted for the turkey club with fries. Both main dishes were perfectly prepared, the fries arrived cold but edible. Good to know: this restaurant automatically adds about 18% gratuity as well as a service fee to the bill, regardless of table size.
We came to Jaya for Miami Spice Week, and it was a wonderful way to try the cuisine and experience the stunning atmosphere and entertainment that starts at 8 pm. The indoor restaurant is really outdoors with overhead coverings, so there is plenty of fresh air. Tall palm trees and pools of water and couches and traditional tables give the restaurant a special atmosphere. It can be a little humid until you get used to it. I got the Truffle dumplings which were shrimp and scallops in a paper thin wrapper with a truffle foam emulsion. They were delicious. My husband got the Salmon Sashimi and the Thai Beef which came with rice and lettuce wraps. The waiter offered to ask the chef to make it less spicy. It still had a kick to it. I got the Peking Duck which was half a duck, perfectly cooked, moist and the crunchy skin and hoisin sauce. It came with plenty of thin pancakes. I thought the scallions and cucumbers were a little dried out but were still fine. For dessert, we got the Jivara chocolate puff with chocolate ice cream. Our waiter provides a relaxed leisurely dining experience by taking our next order only after we finished each course. We did have to wait for our entree, but it may have been because I ordered the Peking Duck or because the restaurant was crowded. We sat against the wall to the right when you walk in which was under the speakers, but they were not pointed at us, so the DJ music was not too loud. The two woman dance and acrobatic shows began a little after 8:30 pm when they mopped up the stage floor. There are two stages and the tables to the far right had the best view. We were behind some poles but could see some of it. They were graceful, mesmerizing, strong, and sexy. They each had a performance roughly every half an hour. We had the hurricane passing near Florida, so we got some surprise rain showers. I recommend avoiding the table to the left when you walk in from the hostess stand, since that really got rained on and kept the staff busy wiping up the floor and tables/chairs. Dining at Jaya was one of our highlights of our trip to Miami. Delicious food, great service, a beautiful atmosphere and wonderful entertainment.
Jaya at The Setai is truly a top-tier dining experience. I had the Lamb Shank and Octopus both were incredibly tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I also had a Lychee Martini (I think) strong and perfectly crafted. The atmosphere is what really sets this place apart. While dining, we were entertained by a stunning contortionist-style performer, adding an elegant, show-stopping touch to the evening. Between the live music, the luxe ambiance, and the world-class service, everything felt elevated and unforgettable. Highly recommend for a special night out in Miami.
The Brunch option here is a must! We have been for dinner before and loved it but the brunch is a completely different experience and totally worth it. Pricey but not that pricey considering what you get. The VIBES are IMMACULATE! Totally loved it and the weather did play a part in it as it wasn’t too hot in this day. You Gotta try it!
Amazing place for brunch!! All you can eat and drink for 2 hours. The quality of the Asian fusion food and service is impeccable. The atmosphere is also super cool, and the beautiful decor,a great DJ, is surrounded by a pool. The approximate price per person is $100 but definitely worth it. Can wait to come back soon. Totally recommend.
The reviews had me iffy to go to this restaurant but I still went & was pleasantly surprised. I made a reservation and I was still 15 mins late but when I got there me and my friends was able to sit right away. The food and drinks came out super fast after ordering. the host, waiter and manager was super nice! The food was great as well as the atmosphere and for 3 people we paid around 450, which I don’t think was bad at all. Will definitely go again. Please, if you are on the fence about this restaurant just go ahead giving it a try. #blackgirlexperience
I would definitely come back. I went to dinner with my husband, and we had a great time, good atmosphere with a show for the diners, we can't complain, the service was very friendly and cordial, the food was incredible, a good combination of flavors, in fact we were surprised that for how full the place was our dishes arrived very quickly, I recommend the shrimp Pathai, it was delicious.
Visited during the Chinese Lunar New Year event, with aerialists and a traditional Lion dance. A very festive atmosphere and the Beautiful upscale restaurant. Great drinks and delicious dishes. Highly recommended. Reservations recommended Doreen special events.
I went to Jaya at the Setai for dinner with my family for my sister's birthday. We were a group of 5 adults and the bill included service charges. We spent around $404 total for everything. We arrived a bit early for our reservation but we were able to be seated right away. The service was great. Our main server was very great at explaining everything. Besides our main server, there were servers everywhere refilling our glasses constantly, taking our plates, etc. These are things you expect when you go to a more expensive restaurant. There was also a wine guy. I did feel like they were trying to get us to buy an alcoholic beverage at one point. That was my only gripe. But we were only there for solid calories. For an appetizer, we tried the Octopus which was fantastic. The Octopus was fried but it wasn't breaded. I would have definitely ordered more if we didn't already have a game plan. For our main dishes, we ordered many entrees and shared around the table since it was our first time trying food at the restaurant. We ordered the Thali Platter, Peking Duck, Thai Beef, two Fried Rice (vegetable only) dishes, and Pad Thai. By the end of the night my stomach was full. The Thai beef was supposed to be spicy but it actually was not at all. The Thali Platter had more spice which is expected since it was an Indian dish. The Peking Duck was delicious. It was tender and the skin was well-seasoned. The Pad Thai was also very good along with the fried rice. Actually it was all very good now that I think of it. There was nothing to take home. For dessert, we were full so we only ordered two which was great because the deserts were small as well. We ordered the mochi and the ice cream. They were good but nothing to sing praises about. As we were leaving, the performance was starting for the night. If we knew the performer started at 8 PM, we may have gotten a later reservation. But we did get to see some of it. But overall, the experience was nice and the service was great. We all went home content with full stomachs.
Got it — here’s the corrected version for Jaya at The Setai, short and to the point: ⸻ We had a great evening at Jaya at The Setai in Miami Beach. The staff was welcoming and flexible — even with the two-hour limit, they let us stay longer without ever feeling rushed. We ended with a cake, and they were surprisingly tolerant and gracious. The atmosphere was excellent, with great music and an acrobat show that made the night feel special. Highly recommend. #JayaAtTheSetai #TheSetai #MiamiBeach #GreatService #AmazingAtmosphere #LiveShow #MiamiNights #HighlyRecommend
We had Indian food at Jaya at The Setai, and it was truly impressive. The flavors were rich and authentic, with dishes like butter chicken and chicken tikka standing out for their depth and spice. The naan was warm and perfectly baked, and the portions were generous. Paired with the beautiful ambiance and live performances, it made for a memorable and luxurious dining experience.
As soon as you walk in, this restaurant has a beautiful ambiance. Everything about it is elegant and thoughtfully crafted. The service was amazing, the food was delicious, the show they put on was so cool and the fusion of Indian and Asian culture was a unique and beautiful experience. I will definitely be back.
Jaya by The Setai offers a truly enchanting ambiance that immediately draws you in. The presentation of the dishes is simply stunning, adding an artistic flair to the dining experience. The food itself is satisfying with generous portions that leave you content. What really sets the evening apart, though, is the show—an entertaining touch that makes the moment feel special. Overall, it's a memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend.
We fumbled upon Jaya at Setai, nestled within Miami Beach is this amazing restaurant based within a 5 star hotel The ambience, food and experience was beyond expected. We’ve had the Indian Thali for mains and a mix of Asian starters, which was class. Ambience inside was stunning, included 2 acrobatics acts that was mesmerising If you are into Pan Asian food and want to try a night of lux then highly recommended
I was skeptical about Jaya based on the mixed reviews but I must say that my experience was amazing! They accommodated me even though I was a little late to my reservation, the service was world class and made me feel extra VIP, the waiter checked on us just enough and made solid recommendations. I must add in that you must be prepared to stand your ground with all the upselling that you will be approached with unless you’ll end up spending a pretty dime. However, the food was good. We had the lamb chops and the panang curry for the main, but I must make honorable mention of the spring rolls which were out of this world amazing!!! Had to get more! The beverages were not too overbearing when it came to liquor and were polished and effective. The entertainment was exquisite and the overall ambiance was dark and fit the vibe and aesthetic that I was looking for! I would definitely go back.
Simply the best brunch in the city. Tried it many times and ut never disappointed. Brunch gets only better each time. Unlimited food/drink options, high-quality champagne, and cocktails. Incredible variety of fresh seafood, oysters, caviar. Service is awesome and attentive. Had a wonderful time.
Jaya at The Setai, Miami Beach is an upscale Asian fusion restaurant known for its elegant ambiance, especially the serene courtyard with live music. Highlights include a diverse Southeast and South Asian menu, a popular Sunday Jazz Brunch, and attentive service. We sat at the sushi bar since it was a last minute decision and there were no tables available and still had a fantastic experience - I would definitely recommend the spicy tuna roll if you're into sushi but all of the rolls looked amazing. The salmon was delicious and the service was excellent. If I could go back tonight I would however, it is a bit pricey but with every penny!
I had dinner at Jaya at The Setai last night and really enjoyed it. The hamachi jalapeño was fresh with just the right amount of heat, and the tuna tacos were full of flavor and had a great crunch. I sat outside where the lights were glowing and the vibe felt both elegant and relaxed. They had a fire and dance show going on during dinner which made the whole evening feel like an experience, not just a meal. It was a Tuesday so not super busy, which I actually liked. The quiet made it easy to talk and take in everything around us without feeling rushed or crowded. The presentation of the food was beautiful and made for some great photos. If you’re looking for a cool spot in South Beach with great food and a memorable setting, I’d say this one is worth it. I’ll definitely be back, probably on a weekend to catch more of the action.
Why didn’t anyone tell me about this restaurant! We recently dined at this posh restaurant at The Hotel Setai in Miami Beach to celebrate my niece's birthday. She made reservations for seven people several weeks ago. We arrived well before our reservation time. However, because the valet line was several cars deep, we made it in just within the 20-minute grace period. While waiting in the beautiful hotel lobby, we had cocktails and took photos. The crowd was mostly an older one, but there were also couples with young children and young adults dining as well. Personally, I don't recommend the little ones for an evening at a restaurant like this, but that's a personal preference. We sat near the stage, where we saw two beautiful performances. We ordered appetizers to share and then went straight to our main course, which I wish we could have shared because everyone was so happy with their choices that I wanted some of theirs too! By the end of the evening, everyone agreed that we would plan to go back. We sang happy birthday to my niece with the cake she brought (extra fee for that), followed by macaroons that our server surprised my youngest daughter with for her birthday, which was only a few hours later. It’s going to sound like an ad, but truthfully, if you are celebrating anything, please don't miss out and consider Jaya at The Setai. The food, performers, DJ, and the personable service were all truly amazing.
This was my FAVORITE restaurant in Miami. I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and I couldn’t have been happier. The service was immaculate. Food was outstanding. The performances were amazing. Would recommend to anyone coming to Miami!!! I only write reviews that are 100% honest. Take me up on this restaurant you won’t be disappointed.
Absolutely Amazing. We celebrated our anniversary and couldn't have had a better experience. From the decorations and ambiance of the entire hotel & restaurant to the servers so professional & kind to the outstanding entertainment to the delicious food and drinks. The spicy martini & pad Thai noodles & duck egg rolls were phenomenal.
From the moment I stepped into Jaya, I knew I was in for something special. This stunning indoor-outdoor restaurant is a visual feast. Every view, from the entryway to our table, was simply breathtaking. The ambiance was the perfect mix of elegance and intimacy, with lighting that set a dreamy tone for a romantic evening out. The service was impeccable! Our food arrived quickly, and every bite was a delight. The wok vegetables were bursting with flavor, and the lamb chop? Let’s just say I had to resist the urge to suck the bone clean (but I remembered I’m a lady!). The filet mignon was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the asparagus surprisingly stole the show with its perfect texture and seasoning. Live entertainment added a fun and sophisticated touch, making the night even more memorable. Our table seating was absolutely perfect, comfortable and positioned just right to take in the gorgeous setting. 10/10 would recommend Jaya to anyone looking for a night of great food, beautiful vibes, and a touch of magic in Miami.
We had an amazing experience at Jaya! Our server Irfan gave us the best customer service—he was attentive, friendly, and made the night extra special. The host noticed from my reservation that it was my birthday, which made me so happy. The food was incredible—the octopus was the best I’ve tasted in a long time, and the sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The vibes were nice overall; my only small wish is that the DJ wouldn’t cut songs halfway through, but everything else was perfect. Highly recommend for a memorable night out!
A Luxurious Culinary Escape – Jaya at The Setai We discovered Jaya at The Setai through a blog, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the recommendation. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning open-air verandah, designed in a traditional Indian-style courtyard with grand ceiling fans—creating a serene and cooling retreat from the Miami heat. The menu was just as impressive as the setting. We indulged in a carefully curated selection, including samosas, pasta, noodles, wine, and chai, while my partner enjoyed the best-ever truffle shrimp dumplings. Each dish was a testament to exceptional ingredients, from high-quality cheeses to expertly balanced flavors that elevated every bite. What made our experience even more memorable was the impeccable service—attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in a leisurely two-hour brunch that felt both indulgent and unhurried. Jaya at The Setai is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience of luxury, refinement, and culinary excellence. Now, we can’t wait to explore more dining options at this stunning five-star property on our next visit to Miami. ⭐ 5/5 – A Must-Visit Oasis of Flavor & Elegance! ⭐
Jaya at The Setai is truly an extraordinary dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning—elegant, vibrant, and immersive—creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable evening. The live entertainment took the night to another level, with breathtaking acrobatics and dancers whose performances were both captivating and exhilarating. It felt like dinner and a world-class show all in one. The service was impeccable, especially our server, Levant, who was nothing short of exceptional. He was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, polite, and professional, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the experience feel personal and elevated throughout the evening. The food was beyond incredible. I enjoyed the Chilean sea bass and the hamachi sushi, and the seafood was unbelievably fresh and flavorful. There truly are no words worthy of describing how delicious every bite was—it was perfection. To make it even more special, I was celebrating my birthday, and Jaya at The Setai made it the most amazing and unforgettable experience I could have asked for. Everything—from the ambiance to the service, entertainment, and cuisine—was flawless. Highly, highly recommend. This is a must-visit destination for an exceptional night out.
We had a fantastic champagne brunch. Lovely live jazz sets the scene. A huge selection of wonderful food and excellent service. The top place for brunch in Southbeach Miami.
The best unlimited brunch buffet we've been to in Miami!! For $110, which alcoholic beverage options included, this is the best deal for unlimited brunch!! The selection is so vast + which an eclectic assortment of options from decadent caviar to perfectly cooked duck to classic Indian dishes, there's something for everyone. They even have a station of raw meats you are able to order and have cooked + served fresh directly to your table (also included in the brunch price) Definitely will be coming back again 🤍
Trully enjoyed my experience at Jaya at the Setai for dinner. The ambiance, the food, and the entertainment made for a great experience. I went on a Thursday night and was shocked by how crowded it was, so reservation is certainly Reccomended. Would absolutely go again, but I’d recommend going when rain is not in the forecast. We experienced some flooding as a result of the heavy rain. Still a top tier experience.
Es un lugar agradable para una cena tranquila, el menú es muy variado y rico, la atención es muy buena
Came for Sunday brunch , got a great Table by the water . Our server Annie was sweet and showed us around the buffet . Espresso martini bar was awesome drinks were strong . Overall food was good there were a few things that missed the mark but a large variety so understandable. Great jazz band and relaxing ambiance. Buffet gets crowded and lines form after 1pm it seems . I took one star away because they give you a two hour limit , but after about an hour and 30 minutes the server came to let us know our time was up . We payed the bill and was trying to finish our drink when a manger came up and once again told us they needed the table which I found very tacky when you have a 400$ bill , also Valet is 35$ which is kinda over priced for a few hours . Overall I was pleased and will be back but let me finish my drink …
SoulEdge: Break The Silence... Arrived for Miami Spice 2025 Dinner. Hostees team helped me with seating. Yelena & Ari ( apologies if I got their names wrong ) gave me excellent service. Yelena asked how was the food. I ordered Chicken Wings with Sweet & Sour Sauce, Asian Slaw, Fresh Herbs. Chucken Tikka it is a dish of Chicken Thigh, Garam Masala, Mustard Oil, Mint Sauce. Salted Caramel Opera a dessert dish that comes with Jivara & Mocha Mousse, Caramel Biscuit, Salted Caramel Gelato. Test a chicken thigh alone with the sauce & lime. Chicken Wings were crisp & delicious. Don't fret about the Opera dessert, it is not sugary, trust me its good. I included a pic of Japón. This visit is dedicated to my then German American ex girlfriend who looks like Lagertha from a vikings tv show. Jaya was truly a next-level experience. The ambiance was beautiful, and the entire restaurant felt impeccable and exciting to take in. I enjoyed multiple shows during my dinner, which made the evening feel even more special. While the service was a bit slow, the entertainment helped balance it out, and our server was kind despite the packed house—so the wait was understandable. I went for the Miami Spice menu, and the selection of options was impressive. Overall, I absolutely loved it and would definitely go back.
We had breakfast here for a few days when we stayed in a suite in The Setai. Breakfast was 7-11. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating had mister fans to cool off the guests. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They had lots of great choices including cereal, oatmeal, bagels and breads, pancakes, waffles, Singapore noodles, various cheese, and much more. They also have an egg station with many different possible combinations. There is Sunday brunch which looked amazing. At night it is exactly what you expect from Miami. There was a dj in the middle over the lit up water. It was a club type atmosphere that served great food. Would definitely come back.
Amazing Asian food in a beautiful setting… I really enjoyed the vegetarian options , the dishes were very fresh and delicious . There was a performer I had the pleasure to video … see below … Service was very slow and not good for this type of establishment… the typical Miami mediocre service …
11/2024 update. Still a great destination restaurant, expect to comfortably stay 2 to 2 1/2 hours to enjoy the food and entertainment. Everything from the drinks to dessert was interesting and thoughtfully prepared, both visually and in flavor. Other than the rum cake, everything was worth ordering a second time… But the mushrooms and the gelato for dessert were the superstars. —- Original post - Jaya at Setai. i had the sea bass with basmati rice (excellent) and grilled octopus (very good and beautifully presented). the live entertainment was fun, and...well, lively. Pricey as you would expect; great for a special evening out. service was very good but restaurant management was "unapproachable".
Jaya, meaning “victory” in Sanskrit, lives up to its name with a tight menu of South Asian hits from tandoor ovens and sizzling woks. Think Asian fusion, across the board Setting is sleek—think water-bound stage, big stones, low couches, and tables paired with upbeat music and performers that keep things lively. Miami Spice (~$35) is a solid deal. The chicken tikka, made with juicy thigh meat, brings bold spice and char. The cucumber salad, with its miso dressing, is a fresh surprise (didnt think it was going to be that good) The Gianduja dessert—housemade hazelnut praline, crunchy gianduja, and smooth chocolate gelato—is a rich, nutty closer that feels indulgent without being heavy. SO SO SO GOOD Service is on point, maybe too eager, clearing plates almost before you’re done. If you’re looking for vibes and that ‘Miami scene’.. come for a later dinner. Good looking people looking to be seen and check out other good looking people
Visit: Thanksgiving 2024 Spent: €352 ⭐️ Variety of food ⭐️ Topping up of the buffet ⭐️ Friendly staff ⭐️ Beautiful atmosphere Special mention for the blondie from the dessert section 😍 Excellent knowledge from the servers on the food in their area - I have a peanut allergy and was well accommodated. We did have to wait in the lobby with many others before being seated, not the best welcoming. Great attention when topping up of water and champagne, but my soft drink order was forgotten completely. After paying the bill (including the 20% service charge) the waitress said ‘a tip for me’, which we’re learning is now a sympathy beg and makes you rather uncomfortable.
Experience > Food It was great visiting Jaya at the Setai. Being a Saturday night, we made a reservation because we were a party of five. While checking in, we noticed they were taking Walk Ins of two people fairly quick. But overall a reservation is recommended. We were there at prime time. Around 9:30 PM and the place was packed. We got a table in the patio area where you can watch the shows that they make every 30 minutes. This could be dancing or light shows. It was a bit noisy and hard to have a nice conversation. The service staff is amazing and despite being full we were attended promptly. 20% service charge is already included. About the Food, here is what we ordered: Tuna Crispy Rice ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 4 small bites. Not enough protein. Rice was chewy all the way. I wouldn’t order this again. Tuna Tartare ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Medium size portion. The tuna was fresh. The salad that it comes with it is delicious and a great compliment for the tostadas. Grilled Octopus ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Cooked to perfection. Excellent flavor. Medium size portion. Peckin duck ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - This was the best. Tender and delicious. Thali Platter ⭐️⭐️ - Most of the samples were extremely salty. The rice was dry and the naan was subpar. This is definitely a place I would like to visit again. It is great if you have people visiting Miami and you want them to experience that vibe. As I said, the experience is better than the food.
On Thanksgiving we had Brunch here. It was a very nice atmosphere. It was very crowded and the lines were long, and most of the food was pretty good but the Steak was overcooked making it hard. Tha lamb chops were better. But overall It wasn’t outstanding & the price at $125 per person was atrocious. On top of that they give you a two hour time limit so you pretty much have to hurry up through the whole dining experience. We didn’t see any performers, just a lady singing on stage, but that was it. We drove two hours for the outstanding experience that we didn’t really get. We will try elsewhere next time.
We had a great experience! The atmosphere was lively, thanks to the on-site DJ who played a fun mix of house music and other genres that really elevated the vibe. There was no wait at the buffet stations. The variety of food offered was impressive, almost overwhelming. They have everything from Indian and Chinese to Italian, with options suitable for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The dessert selection was also a highlight for us, especially the live crepe and vanilla ice cream station, which quickly became our favorites. For those who don’t drink alcohol, the mocktail options were a pleasant surprise. We especially enjoyed the passion fruit one, it was refreshing and full of flavour having been severed with mint and lime. You definitely get your money's worth.
We went here for anniversary dinner. Food and drinks were good! They have performances at night which were nice. Service was average considering they charge 20% service fee. Veg options were very limited and there wasnt much choice to customize the dishes. I think the penang curry or the green curry could have been easily customized by chef, but our server said it is not possible so I found that very disappointing as I spent 250$ with limited choices.
It's definitely a one time thing. For the experience. Not somewhere to go twice... Prices are heavy. Music is extremely loud and food is pretty average. The show is nice but nothing to die for. The drinks were really good, I think the best part of the entire thing. Food took FOREVER to get to us. They brought our friend's fillet mignon and the rest of the group was waiting for their plates for at least half an hour. Miami Spice is going on right now, and they didn't even offer the Miami Spice menu. We had to ask for it. The crowd is there for the Instagram posts. There's a dress code to go to the restaurant but it's definitely not enforced. There were people there dressed like if they were just down filming a reggaeton video clip. I don't know....just not very classy. Maybe, that's just me, I guess you got to go check it out and review it after!
The dining area is nice, very energetic with loud electronic music and even dances, also the decoration and architecture are very distinguished. The food is good, the rolls were pretty decent and fairly priced, but there aren’t many options. The real issue was the service, the waiter was extremely rude and inappropriate, really made us feel bad and unwelcome, we even thought about leaving right away, even said he wouldn’t be able to guarantee contamination in cases of food allergies, which is something I never ever heard of in any restaurant!
The service at this restaurant was on point and amazing and same can go for the vibe and atmosphere. However one thing that bothered me quite much was the limited space and small tables (if you stand up it’ll be as tall as your knees). This place is also really only good for the environment where they lack heavily in the food quality and taste not seasoning anything one bit.
We really wanted to love the NYE evening especially with the high price tag but it was not a 5 star experience and not worth the cost. We sat outside and it was decorated beautifully. The performance was extremely loud and repetitive. It was the same acts over and over and you can only watch belly dancers for so long. We were extremely disappointed to see that they allowed smoking. They consider it an “outside” venue, but there really was not any ventilation. It’s not an open roof as it has some sort of fabric material over. Our table for two was seated close to a bar full of cigar smokers so it made the dining experience unpleasant. The service was quick and friendly. I can’t give the food a good rating because a few hours later we were hit with food poisoning. I don’t recommend the NYE experience.
I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The sushi was fresh and well-prepared, and the Pad Thai had a great balance of flavors. However, the Caesar salad was a big letdown—watery dressing and limp lettuce made it a miss. Service was fine, though a bit slow at times. Overall, not a bad spot if you stick to the right dishes, but there are better options out there.
Attended this establishment for a friend’s birthday. The Miami spice menu for $45 was not seafood allergy friendly. Only edible dished were the chicken wings and chicken tikka. I ordered the Jaya fried rice with chicken and it tasted good. The service was friendly but very slow!!!!!! We were a party of 8 and sat at 7 but didn’t receive our desert until 10:30. To cut the cake was $14 and staff does not sing happy birthday.
We celebrated a birthday at Jaya. The atmosphere and the show are impressive – the fire performance and the water in the center of the room look stunning. Big plus for that. Unfortunately, the service was a huge disappointment. From the very start, there were no vases for flowers (in a restaurant where people usually celebrate special occasions!). Our bouquet ended up just leaning against a chair. For bringing our own cake, they charged $14 per person, but never stored it in the fridge – it was warm and the ganache melted. On top of that, they charge extra to cut the cake. Since we refused, they first gave us a flimsy plastic knife, then a butter knife, and finally a steak knife, which was at least usable. They mixed up one of our cocktails, and with tea the situation was just ridiculous. We ordered it before the cake, but it only arrived after we had already sung happy birthday, made a wish, cut the cake, and almost finished eating it. One tea was even replaced randomly with chamomile instead of mint. The food itself – just fine. Not bad, not amazing. Don’t expect anything special. The atmosphere and show are the strongest part. The DJ played some decent tracks, but the transitions were really strange – cutting off songs at their best moment. Maybe some people like that style, but for us it was just odd. The worst part: the bathroom. For a “premium” restaurant it was simply dirty, which is unacceptable. 📊 Overall: • Service – 2/10 • Food – 7/10 • Atmosphere – 8/10 • Bathroom cleanliness – 0/10 So overall, it’s a place you can go to if you want a flashy celebration with a show, but don’t expect great service or spotless facilities. Jaya really needs to fix the basics: service, cleanliness, and a bit more care for their guests. Until then, it’s more of a 2-star experience than a luxury one. My final rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2 out of 5).
We came with a party of seven people visiting from abroad and they ID us after the fact that we have sat down and they already gave us champagne before ID ing us. I attached the picture. Then, they harasss our table in manner for IDs. Removing the alcohol from everyone even those who had pictures. Mind you I was here for my anniversary and this was not an issue. The staff are the same friendly faces. Clearly another result of uncouth management in Miami. This brunch is now a scam.
Despite the food being great, I would never return to Jaya at The Setai due to the poor service. We had a large party of 12 for my birthday. We arrived early, checked in for our reservation, and still waited 45 minutes to be seated. When we were finally taken to our table, they squeezed all 12 of us into one of the smallest corner tables imaginable — it was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing given the caliber of the restaurant. We also brought a birthday cake, fully expecting a standard cake-cutting fee. However, we were shocked to learn they charge a fee per person, not per cake. I’ve dined at many fine restaurants around the world and have never encountered such a policy. It’s the equivalent of bringing your own bottle of wine and being charged a corkage fee for every glass poured — it makes no sense. If we had shown up 45 minutes late to our reservation, we most certainly wouldn’t have been seated — yet the restaurant showed no respect for our time or occasion. It’s a shame, because the food and atmosphere were lovely, but the management and service completely ruined the experience.
I returned to eat at the other restaurant at Setai and I also went to Ocean Grill to thank Alvin for great service last week. I met the manager who is from Hungary. He wasn’t there the night I was there and I just think we don’t recognize good service enough. Maybe this could help resolve the mediocrity that we face in the Miami Beach area. Notice there are some very good restaurants that don’t force a service fee. I think we need to speak up more. On mediocre service, well sadly I experienced it at Jaya. I still don’t understand why bartenders here can’t concoct a tasty cocktail…. OYE! One thing my Chinese grandsons have taught me is that you can ruin a simple bowl of white rice and if they can’t cook a good bowl of rice it is probably downhill from there. Well, it was. Plus you know if the scallops and shrimp are rubbery someone isn’t on top of their game in the kitchen. Caveat Emptor if you wait an hour for your table with reservations and then told during your meal that you have 20 minutes left then there are major problems at the hostess station and management. The hostess station here has other issues which it would take too long to describe. But let’s face it tourists love this place. The open gymnasium space teeming with humidity, a very good dj with music as if you were at Studio 54, and with two very talented gymnasts a la Las Vegas style. If you want romance at Setai go to Ocean Grill, if you want Chinese circus go to Jaya. My client likes Jaya but the client said the quality of food must be different during the winter. DO NOT ORDER CHICKEN TIKA. There is another disconnect in the kitchen…SAUCES DONT MATCH THE QUALITY OF THE DISH.
Inside the Setai hotel is a restaurant called Jaya. To sum it up: Completely unprofessional waitress and host staff, high prices unfortunately outweigh good food and music. My group of four went here for a birthday celebration. We had reservations and were seated right away. To sum it up it’s like eating dinner inside a club. The DJ is bumping the tunes while you barely can talk to your guests because of the loud music. The dance floor was closed so I’m not sure why you can’t dance and eat at the same time. Food was pretty good but expensive. $30 for a bowl of rice and some shrimp. $35 for a whiskey cocktail. Being from LA I was shocked on the prices especially when the service was complete poop. The biggest disappointment was the lack of professionalism from our waiter Janesy and host. Automatic 20 percent service charge to our server who never checked on us and was too busy talking to her hostess friends. Then at the end asks for another tip on top of her twenty percent. Don’t forget the sales tax, south beach city tax and service charge and we have over a $100 in taxes. Good food, nice decor/interior, nice people watching but pathetic wait staff. High gratuity tax for non existent services. Had to ask for utensils and more water. You should see the table next to us, it took them a half hour or more to get their food. Hire better staff who care. Avoid Janesy if you can.
55 min wait for brunch from brusque staff... Made worse by initial claims of table is being cleaned, repeated ad nauseum. Problem could have been ameliorated by a simple explanation of the real wait time to allow us to prepare or make alternative arrangements. Waiter was gracious but mood was set from the initial arrival. Would also like to highlight the falsehood about "Champagne" when in fact it was sparkling wine was served!
We had reservations for 8:45pm and didn’t get sat till 9:45pm. Then we got sat at the worse table possible, right behind the DJ which where we had to squeeze to sit down because of the tables to our left and right. (This table should just be removed to refrain from others adding this to their poor experience). Additionally, one of the seats didn’t have a cushion; if you have been here, you can see that without a cushion this seat would clearly not be comfortable. When I told the employee, so that we could get one. Im assuming he was the host manager, since he had an ear piece. He was so rude and looked at me, responded annoyingly “a cushion?” as if I was being exaggerating asking for one.. The sushi was great and the entrees lacked flavor so presentation was misleading. Lastly, our waiter was an absolute drag. Gabriel was his name, wears glasses- seemed like we were a bother. Not once did he check on us. Every time he came to our table it was because we had to ask an employee to call him for us. A place like this, you are not only paying for food but also the experience and I did not enjoy mine. I was here to have a celebratory dinner for my birthday and the only positive highlight was Eli, I may have gotten his name wrong but, he is an older black bald gentleman with a little bit of an accent. He brought my birthday dessert to me and was very nice, even wished me a happy birthday. I would not revist. 8/16/2025
One star due to unnecessary insistence that I give them my phone number in order to be seated. I was a walk-in with no reservation and they had a table available immediately. When they asked for my phone number, I politely said no. They then insisted that I had to give it to them in order to make my "reservation". I pointed out that I didn't need a reservation, since I was already there and they had a table available. They continued to make attempts to justify why I had to provide a phone number to be seated. I pointed out that I'm here to pay money in exchange for food, and not to give up my privacy unnecessarily. For clarity, at good restaurants with properly trained staff, the exchange goes line this: "May I have your phone number?" "No." "That's fine, let me show you to your table." Anything else is incredibly bad service. For the remainder of the review: the food is ok, but not really worth it. People who like to drink alcohol probably find the brunch to be a much more compelling offer. The wait staff are attentive and friendly. I think the main reason people come here is to see and be seen - people dress up well, which makes the atmosphere reasonably nice.
Rating: 1/5 stars Avoid this place if you value honesty. The hosting staff lied to our faces about table availability to force us into a high-traffic area by the kitchen. We watched them seat other people at the "unavailable" tables immediately after we sat down. To make matters worse, the manager defended the behavior instead of fixing it. Huge shoutout to the wait staff who were excellent. The only bright spot was our server, who was amazing and worked hard to salvage the evening. However, due to the poor management and dishonest entry staff, wouldnt recommend this establishment.
We booked a 10am breakfast for our anniversary, and the whole experience was honestly ridiculous. When we arrived, we politely asked the hostess if we could sit on the sofa seats. She immediately said “No, those are reserved for lunch” and refused to move us. Then — not even five minutes later — two ladies were seated exactly in that spot. When we asked again, she finally moved us, but with the nastiest attitude and told us we couldn’t sit near the water. A few minutes later she seated someone right there. The hostess — tall, skinny, hair tied up — was unbelievably mean. If you ever visit, avoid this person at all costs. Someone with that attitude honestly doesn’t deserve to work in hospitality. The way she treated us felt like she was picking favorites or even being racially biased. Completely ruined what was supposed to be a special morning. Absolutely not coming back.
Made a reservation here for my sisters bachelorette a couple of weeks out. We arrive early, there’s a line. Fine, we’re patient. Our reservation is at 930pm and we check in on time. Thank goodness we came early! We ended up waiting over an HOUR to get seated! We watched person after person, even people with no reservations surpass us and was truly disheartened and disappointed. Finally, as we get seated we missed the show. One of the reasons I chose this restaurant for our party. I’ve spoken very highly of this place so to see my entire bridal party upset was truly heartbreaking. Please do better with this. I do not recommend coming here with a large party.
I have been in the food industry for nearly a decade and have two degrees in the field. I can tell you wholeheartedly that this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. It took over an hour to be seated when we had a reservation. When we finally got seated, it took around 15 minutes to be seen by a server. Drinks took another 20 minutes and we couldn’t place our entree order until we had been seated an hour because our server was constantly missing, which was two hours after we had arrived. It was absolutely freezing with no heaters and we had to scream to hear each other over the bass of the music. I was so excited to leave I practically ran out of the restaurant once we paid. Overpriced to an insane degree, which is expected because of it being in Miami. PLEASE go elsewhere. Anywhere else is better than here. I have never in my life left a bad review for anything, but this was so egregious that I have to.
It’s unfortunate to write this review, but it must be said. If you are a young woman who is a minority looking to celebrate a special occasion, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. My group and I came to Jaya at The Setai to celebrate multiple birthdays, expecting an enjoyable and welcoming dining experience. Instead, we were subjected to continuous harassment from the table next to us. They were a group of white men and women who throughout the entirety of our dinner repeatedly glared at us and made inappropriate racial, sexual, and prejudiced remarks that were impossible to ignore and made us all deeply uncomfortable. Despite our attempts to politely ask them to leave us alone, the behavior continued. The comments escalated to offensive assumptions and degrading statements, including insinuations that we were “sugar babies,” explicit sexual remarks, comments suggesting we could not afford to dine at the restaurant, and even mocking us by flaunting a designer bag in our faces while asking if we “knew what it was.” At one point, they attempted to convince members of our group to leave the restaurant with them. We brought this behavior to the attention of our server, only to have our concerns dismissed. We were told the individuals had “too much to drink,” as if intoxication is an acceptable excuse for grown adults to harass a group of young women. In my opinion, this should have been addressed immediately, and the table should have been cut off from alcohol or removed entirely. The most upsetting part of the experience was that after reporting this harassment, the offending group was allowed to remain, while we were left feeling unsafe, disrespected, and unwelcome. What was meant to be a joyful celebration turned into an upsetting and humiliating experience. We paid our bill and left as soon as we could. For a restaurant of this caliber, the lack of accountability, protection, and basic respect shown toward guests is unacceptable. As a Miami local I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon unless staffing is better trained at handling situations among guests.
I recently visited the Jaya restaurant at the Setai in South Beach, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected. Reservation and Seating Issues We had a reservation for 9:30 PM, but we weren’t seated until nearly 10:00 PM. The hosts were unwelcoming and didn’t offer any greeting or smile. We were simply told they would text us when the table was ready. Even after the text arrived and we returned, we were told the table wasn’t actually ready yet, and we had to wait even longer. Meanwhile, the staff was visibly rude to other guests, and we witnessed a host yelling at someone, which was uncomfortable. Once seated, the service continued to disappoint. We ended up being seated at a less desirable table, and it took multiple reminders just to get basic condiments like soy sauce. We had to ask three times before it finally arrived. For a restaurant that positions itself as high-end, the food was just average and not memorable at all. The menu also lacked the variety we were hoping for. Overall Impression In the end, the combination of poor service, long wait times, and just mediocre food means I wouldn’t choose to dine there again. It definitely didn’t live up to the expectations or the price point.
We were extremely disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. The food was absolutely awful — it tasted like it was cooked in rancid, decades-old oil, completely bland and unpleasant. As a result, five hungry adults left still hungry, because the food was simply inedible. We informed the manager about the situation, expecting at least some concern or willingness to address the issue. Instead, the response was dismissive and superficial. We were told, “If the food wasn’t good, there wouldn’t be so many people eating here.” This arrogant attitude only made the experience worse. Honestly, we are just as baffled by the fact that the restaurant was full. It’s hard to understand why so many people choose a place where the food quality is so poor and customer feedback is completely ignored. A very negative experience. We will not be returning.
We had a disappointing experience at this beautiful venue. We were seated at a table where the wind was blowing menus off the surface, making it uncomfortable and cold. Despite multiple requests to close the roof, the lead manager claimed we were the only ones complaining. Ironically, the table next to us left due to the same issue. Feeling unwelcome, we decided to leave as well, especially after paying $175 per person, excluding drinks. It’s unfortunate that the management lacks professionalism and hospitality, as the setting is truly lovely. I hope the lead management will pay more attention to hospitality training in the future.
I made a reservation for 8:30 PM and arrived on time but was informed there would be a 20–30 minute wait to be seated. After 45 minutes, I approached the host stand for an update. The first staff member I spoke to explained there was no guarantee of when I would be seated and suggested speaking to management. Another staff member mentioned that seating depends on when current guests leave and noted that the restaurant was fully booked. I inquired about the purpose of making a reservation under these circumstances, and they explained that seating is handled as it becomes available. I also had a reservation for brunch the following day and asked if the same issue might occur. The response was unclear. Eventually, I spoke with the manager, who was polite and clarified that there was a wait specifically for outside seating, which had not been communicated when I arrived. There seemed to be some miscommunication regarding seating preferences, as I had not been asked for a preference initially. About an hour later, while speaking with the manager, I received notifications that my table was ready. I ended up cancelling my brunch reservation for the next day due to the experience. The food did not meet expectations for the price. The Crab Dumplings were cold, with a rubbery texture and chewy dough, resembling something frozen and microwaved rather than freshly prepared. At $30, I expected much better. The Thai Beef was also far too salty. Overall, the food quality fell short of the cost. The atmosphere had highlights and drawbacks. The dancers were excellent and added a lively element to the evening. However, the music was extremely loud, creating an environment more reminiscent of a nightclub than a dinner setting. Additionally, I noticed that no one responds to reviews, which gives the impression that guest feedback is not valued. My server was somewhat attentive but seemed disengaged, as though they didn’t want to be there. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience warrants it. The bottom line is that the establishment seems not to care about its guests.
Are you a person of color and want to feel discriminated against? Then go to the weekend brunch at Jaya at Setai. Let me set the scene for you of the clientele I observed for the 2 hour time limit I was there. Lots of white Russians and Jews, some Hispanics and some African Americans. I arrived on time for my 12 noon appointment. The hostess which was a 20 year old-ish Hispanic young woman wasn't pleasant or friendly upon greeting. She brushed us off to move on to the next customer by telling us we can get a drink in the dining area until she calls us for a table. After 15 minutes of waiting and she didn't call. I eventually went up to her and asked when will we be seated. She said about an hour. So why make reservations if there's no seating available. An older African American woman who seemed to be a manager over heard our conversation and told me she will get me seated. Within 5 minutes I had a table. It's now 12.30pm. After I was told to wait to be seated initially I observed the white customers immediately being shown to their seats. My waitress was Sofia and I didn't catch the names of the support staff who filled water etc. Sofia started of strong with being friendly however after the initial welcome. She just stayed at the back in a corner without any follow up as to anything else we would need. My water glass and champagne glass remained empty multiple times. I had to flag down staff for it to be refilled. Then I observed multiple other tables had a wine bucket with champagne and water and we had none. After flagging down another wait staff as to why others had this and we didn't and wouldn't it be easier for me to serve myself instead of continually asking for water to be refilled. We didn't know there was a 2 limit time frame to eat and leave their premises because none of the staff we interacted with said this. At promptly 2.30pm our check was brought to us. We didn't even have time to have dessert. As soon as we paid a young black man came up to us and told us thank you for dining with us but you have to leave now. For a supposedly high class establishment the staff at this property is the most lazy, unprofessional and lacking any customer service skill training. Never will I be back.
Second time coming to this place, and I am very disappointed this time. The food is not fresh and honestly quite disgusting. It has none of the flavor it had when I came here last Thanksgiving. The food itself is only worth the price of a $20 buffet; the rest of what you pay clearly goes toward the service or the environment. But since this is my second visit, the environment no longer impresses me. The tables are very low and uncomfortable. I don’t think this place has loyal customers, because they clearly don’t invest in the food. I’m looking for a luxurious, tasteful restaurant with impeccable dishes—at least one or two items that truly stand out. Price doesn’t matter to me. But this place completely fails to deliver. Even though it’s said to be the best Thanksgiving buffet and the price reflects that claim, the food absolutely does not live up to it. Never coming back. Goodbye.
I rarely leave bad reviews, but my experience at Jaya was disappointing from start to finish. Despite having a reservation for 9:30pm, we still had to wait far too long to be seated, at 11pm to be exact. When we finally sat down, the service was slow and inattentive, as if the staff was doing us a favor by bringing menus. The atmosphere is beautiful, yes, but that’s where the positives end. The music was so loud it felt like a nightclub rather than a fine dining restaurant and I could barely hear the person next to me. The food, which is supposed to be the star, was shockingly average. Dishes came out lukewarm, under seasoned, and honestly not worth the price tag. For what they charge, I expected bold flavors and memorable plates; instead, everything tasted bland and uninspired. Overall, Jaya is all about style over substance. If you want a flashy setting to take pictures, maybe it works but if you’re coming for good food, attentive service, or value for money, look elsewhere.
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience. When I called to make the reservation, I specifically asked if red sangria was available, as it is what my wife drinks. I was told yes, which was the deciding factor in choosing this restaurant over several other options. Had I been told the truth, I would have booked elsewhere. We arrived at 9:00 PM for a 9:15 PM reservation, yet we were not seated until 9:50 PM, without any clear explanation or apology. Upon finally being seated, we were informed that they do not serve sangria at all. When the manager came over and I calmly explained that the reservation was made based on that confirmation, the response was not only dismissive but unprofessional and aggressive. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or attempting to offer a reasonable solution, the manager escalated the situation and treated me poorly as a guest. While the food itself was good, the service was unacceptable, and the handling of this situation was completely mishandled. Saying whatever is necessary just to secure a reservation and then delivering something entirely different is misleading and unacceptable. I am a hotelier with over 25 years in the hospitality industry, and I can confidently say this level of service and management behavior is not acceptable by any standard. I will not return, and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
