The Café at Books & Books Miami Reviews
I was looking for this exact vibe tonight and this fabulous find popped up! The atmosphere is fun, inviting, filled with all sorts of books on various subjects. There’s a room where authors come to read, indoor & outdoor courtyard seating, and live music on Saturday nights. I came with a friend. Olivia was our gracious & lovely waitress and she took very good care of us. There was live jazz & Italian music. She got a cappuccino, mahi mahi sandwich, & cheesecake. I had a GF brownie with ice cream and a spicy Mexican hot chocolate. I was so thrilled that there was live music with jazz music and then old classic Italian music. I highly recommend this place!
Coffee, lunch, working. Good food great atmosphere and books all around. My favorite ❤️ lovely spot!
☕🥪🧊🎶When attending the launch party for Davies’ new novel, the café truly delivered—from the warm pre-reception to the well-catered and smoothly run afterparty. The staff was attentive, the spread was great, and the price point was fair and filling. My only feedback? It would be great to have fountain sodas—a few of us were definitely craving those Coke Zero refills to keep the pages turning. Also worth noting: they host live music, which is a nice touch, though it can get a bit loud depending on where you’re seated.
A really cute spot to grab a coffee and read a book. Has an indoor and outdoor seating space with plenty of room outside for our couple of suitcases to be nearby while we ate some delicious dishes and coffee before our flight. Nice sized bookstore inside to wander around in. Plus clean bathrooms!
I absolutely love Books & Books. It's such a safe haven for me. I had not however eaten at the cafe. I was so pleasantly surprised with my halloumi sandwich and my friend's curry chicken salad was AMAZING. It was all topped off by excellent service from the gentleman at the bar, very friendly. I am definitely coming back!
It is a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy reading books. I recommend trying out all the activities; it's a great way to meet new people! Also, I would love to see more variety in the ice cream options!
Hidden gem! Full service cafe with coffee, food (sweets, sandwiches, salads, pastas and bowls), and beer and wine. Indoor and outdoor seating with an outdoor bar. HH Monday-Fridays from 5-7pm. Live music Wednesdays 5-9pm and Friday and Saturday nights 7:30-11pm. Dog friendly too!
So glad we found this place while visiting Miami for the day. The staff is very friendly and we were able to stay for a while and work while waiting for our evening flight. The turkey panini and chocolate banana bread were very tasty. The vanilla cold brew was good too. There aren’t many outlets but there is plenty of seating. Will definitely come back the next time we’re in town.
Wonderful bookstore and cafe. Friendly service and great ownership. We love coming here! They also have alternative milk like coconut and pistachio.
We always enjoy our visits to Books & Books Cafe. All locations are good.
quaint casual spot. live music on weekends. very nice place to grab some drinks, browse some books.
Awesome place with a nice patio and a bunch of books to read.
Although the portions keep shrinking and the prices higher, i still enjoy thwor offerings very much.
A favorite. People passionate about books and great ambience.
Very yummy, small portions but AMAZING quality. Great for a lunch or brunch date!
Very eclectic place. Food among books. Gets busy early! So come early.
Lovely little spot, feels homey and like a library. Great treats and coffee.
Found this gem while waiting for my brother. The food was surprisingly exceptional, and the atmosphere was perfect - quiet and relaxing.
Great dining experience and shared a talk with an excellent author talking about the Shakespirian Book Store in Paris.
very cute, great place to focus and get work done!
Great bookstore with open courtyard. Music acts on weekends in addition to a very good snack bar
Awesome live music and vibes
On of the best underated restaurants in the city. Every experience at the books and books cafe is fantastic
Nice place to have a glass of wine and relax.
A wonderful bookstore that just does it all right. Homey feel, great cafe, and so many good books!
A beautiful gem and wonderful lunch. Every time I go I leave with full stomach and mind
Fantastic ambience for any book lover - I could spend an entire day here. I'm not sure how I've lived in south Florida this long and not stopped by, but this definitely won't be the first time!
The best place to go on any day and at any time to relax, be among friends, and thrive in an interesting environment.
Love, love this place. The bar in the patio, fresh non- pretentious food, the music and of course, the books. In the heart of the City Beautiful. Cheers!!
The food is delicious and reseonably priced. The staff is great and they have live music on weekends in the courtyard. Just a great place.
Suuuuch a cute spot! Several healthy options on the menu (plus, iced tea!) Also, of course, a great spot to peruse some books afterward :)
Great food and even better desserts, portion sizes aren't the biggest but the atmosphere is amazing
Great variety of art books and albums. The Best bookstore in Miami and SOFL.
Beautiful atmosphere. Heaven if you like books and cafes.
It's a great place to grab a drink, open a book, and read in peace. The ambience is great, and most people are there to be in an environment with other individuals who enjoy the neurological stimulation that reading provides. I cannot comment on the food because I did not eat, but their drink selection is wider than it was a couple years ago. A very enjoyable 3 hours spent. Make sure you grab a good book.
Wife and I ordered some coffee and charcuterie here and it was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect for any book lover and the service was prompt and friendly. A great place to stop and slow down with a good book and some good food and drinks.
Had gone out to Salsa night and had a great time as well as great food. The sangria was delicious too. Every server was very kind and helpful too. Love this gem. Will be back!
Crowded, friendly, popular innovative display and interaction with books and people. Highly recommend. 🥰
Exceptional, the Selection from the Cafe was Delicious. Awesome service. Awesome staff.
This place is so cool. All the people make it a lively, energetic atmosphere, grounded by the books everywhere. Made a great back drop for the hours of studying I needed to do there. Late hours for a coffee shop is a huge win also. Great food and coffee too! Had the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich
Always friendly service, and a neat experience to eat in the bookstore section. The food is tasty.
Fantastic concept, excellent selection of books, great coffee and even had a live singer in the courtyard who was Fantastic.
Amazing Chop Chop Cesar Salad with grilled chicken for $20! Great service, atmosphere, and something around there smelled really clean... Not sure what it was. There's also a plethora of books, and I found the one I was looking for 😇 Go there. You'll love it more than your typical bookstore!
A gem. In today's world of convenient online purchases, this brick and mortar location of Books and Books is a beacon of hope for those of us who like to browse among a collection of intellectual writings. The store is well organized, and the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. The cafe and store blend well together and often stay open way later than closing time. Truly an awesome asset to the community.
Nice place to seat and read having a coffee and some yummy food. Carrot cake is my favourite. Staff always been nice and friendly.
One of my top spots in Miami! Usually go to spend the afternoon, work remotely with a coffee and lunch (the blackened mahi mahi sandwich is incredible) and maybe even stay for happy hour.
A MUST HAVE!.. "Miami Jungleland Book" what a treasure to the eyes and soul. A true cultural trip into contemporary Art. This book is truly.. MIAMI PRIDE. Every local and Art lover should have this book! One of my greatest finds of all times!
A wonderful bookstore boasting a modern selection, regular author signings, and a staff that truly cares about its clients - I was encouraged to return a book if I didn't like it! The store wraps around a delightful patio cafe offering a good menu, attentive staff and heavenly evening atmosphere with live music on Fridays and Saturdays. I had a crisp and sweet Riesling, the granny smith apple quesadilla appetizer and the pork tacos. The quesadilla isn't for everyone but I found it a nice change of pace. The pork tacos were absolutely divine. My fellow patrons swore they come for the desserts alone but alas, I didn't have room. I see a return trip in my immediate future!
Amazing. Reminds me of living in the northern more sophisticated cities of america again, regardless of social standings and economics people are a little more scholastic, i love this shop not too big like Barnes n nobles, they have great wide selection of books, the coffe shop absolutely drives up sales and pulls in business i found it looking for coffee and found a new hangout and book source, i like supporting bookstore as opposed to online to keep local small businesses alive. I will be coming here everytime i have a special friend visit that loves books as much as me, ontop of whenever i find time from my outrageously busy schedule myself. LOOOVE THIS PLACE! Will return. Great before or after stop from museum next door. Didnt have much interaction with bookstore staff almost felt a little negative energy from what seemed the manager or higher ranking woman associate with bookstore but her energy lightened up when she heard me speak. Great place though.
What an interesting place Great selection of books and magazines Coffee was amazing Turkey Panini was very good
If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The café at Books & Books is a true Coral Gables gem. Nestled among books and a welcoming vibe. The food is fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The attentive staff, permits you to experience the wholeness of the ethos of the community, making every visit feel both personal and meaningful. Thank you for sharing a communal space for all to enjoy.
An awesome setting and staff, not yo mention the excellent selection of books!
One of the very only nice cafes in the whole Miami surroundings. It’s cozy and beautiful and calm.
I ordered a Prosciutto sandwich with a wine tonight over some live music and was very pleased with how much I enjoyed myself. The food at The Café was delicious, and the atmosphere was very inviting. The servers were attentive and helpful, all around a pleasant dining experience. I was especially pleased with the live music, which added a wonderful touch to the evening.
I consistently have a good experience at this cafe. Day time or night time :)
I stop by the cafe here every now and then when I'm in the area, and always love the ambience, the food, and the fact that you can browse or buy a book or few (while supporting a family-owned local business). I had lunch at the bar yesterday, and had a particularly great experience thanks to the bartender Gabriel, who not only provided me with exceptional service, but I watched while he handled what could have been a bad situation with grace and diplomacy beyond what I'm sure I would have been capable of. A woman came in with a group that was stopping in the area part of a bus tour, and they were trying to get a quick bite. In spite of the woman clearly acting entitled and trying to push to get food out right away, he calmly explained that he didn't want to promise something he couldn't deliver and disappoint her, and that the cafe was full, it's a small kitchen, and the staff in back was already dealing with a 12+ long line of orders in process. He offered her some solutions like grabbing dessert which was already made etc. but she clearly was just upset that she wasn't getting special treatment and having her unrealistic expectations met. I have no doubt that if he had responded in anything less than the impeccably professional manner that he did, she could have easily caused a ruckus, but instead she and her friends left without further issue once it was clear that it wasn't going to be feasible to get food out in their tight timeframe.
Would give this 4.5 stars but I'm rounding up because I love bookstore combos. Really nice to get a book and sit down with a drink. The outdoor furniture was really uncomfortable for a long period but I get that it needs to withstand weather. If you don't order right away do expect to have to flag down the staff to get their attention.
Raul is amazing made one of these best cocktails i have ever had and vide is super chill here totally recommended
best cafe at the best bookstore! had a delicious matcha latte and a freshly-made pastry. Jonah was very helpful and friendly, vibes are immaculate 10/10
Had a wonderful time sitting indoors. Good wine selection and the cheese and meat platter was enough for three of us. Of course we shopped the shelves and discussed books. I'm definitely going back
Agradable. No dejes de visitarlo. Te va a encantar.
Great place for gourmet food in a nice out door cafe environment. The vegetarian dishes are tasty and interesting. Wednesday night has a great live band and it’s fun to look at the books after eating
While the food and coffee were just okay, the ambiance completely makes up for it. It’s such a great, peaceful spot to relax or get some work done, with a cozy, bookish charm that’s hard to beat. Whether you’re looking for a place to read, bring your laptop, or just unwind, this spot nails the vibe.
The coffee was good and the place is great. If it had WiFi, it would totally be a 5-star place
The food is good, however, I wish they had more of a selection to pick from. The selection on the menu is a little bit too minimalist.
Nice location with friendly people.
Such a nice place, big book store, small bar, great food, cinema theater right in front... You're going to love it
Don't like one of the waitresses here. She will look at how much tips you give and make comments.
Lovely place, pleasant atmosphere, great music! We sat at the outside bar. Excellent weather, no humidity, to our favor last night and a great view of the moon in the courtyard. We had Yameet with classic jazz who apparently features last Saturday of every month. I had the Quinoa Chop Chop which was nice + filling with a Magarita. My only pet peeve & gripe with drinks at some bars is when your drink is missing anyyy taste of the alcohol, tasted more like virgin drink sadly and after the day I had I NEEDED that drink! Finding parking was not easy.
The wine, atmosphere and bookstore are all 5 stars but the “cookies” leave a lot to be desired. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and it more like a scoop of cookie dough. Definitely not preferred. Please pivot to a traditional cookie. The servers are kind and attentive.
The concept is amazing, the design is nice! Unfortunately, our coffee and match was bad, the dessert ok. But omg how loud is it!
Very nice place and atmosphere. Shame the service is very slow and when I finally got my coffee it wasn’t hot.
Food and atmosphere are great but lately the waiters are a complete disaster.
Come for the books and the atmosphere. Great to walk around the U shipped building to see all sorts of genre of literature but it does take a long time to get your order of food and drinks.
This place has a nice relaxing, and warm atmosphere with an upscale feel. They have a section for children to enjoy reading, also for the adults. There is a bar with a nice wine selection, coffee, and pastries. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We had drinks, but I hear the meals are good here. Would return again.
Coffee was cold Food was good Service a bit grumpy Patio scene nice for privacy and chats when there is no music. Musicians C+ Inside cafe is cramped for chatting
Extremely loud inside. The coffee and food was really bad. Didn’t even want to finish it or pay for it. The chocolate chip cookie was ok. The whipped cream was yellow and old on the pie.
The waitress was a gem and super nice but the food was very mid. First, I think my order was forgotten and I ended up waiting 30+ min for a veggie sandwich. Which I understand if it was really busy but the people next to me ordered after and get their appetizers and entree before me lol. Then the sandwich was missing pesto and sprouts as listed on the menu, it was decent but definitely not worth $16 Other than that the vibes were cute and WiFi was good!
Cold coffee, n the hrs are wrong. Management is really messed up. Dont wanna go on with negatives. Music is cool as ambience. ✌🏻
You might want to weigh out your dining options vs. pricing. The food quality is really below an already low line. The coffee is outright wrong. But you can’t beat the local vibes … we must keep this place open.
Food was sub par. One server for over 20 tables, although she did her best. The Cobb salad included processed chicken, not fresh and wilted lettuce. The pork in the Cuban sandwich tasted like it was reheated or old. The quality was not there. Coffee was good.
I've literally been sitting outside for over 30 minutes. I went inside about 15-20 minutes ago to ask if we're supposed to order inside and I was told no to wait outside and someone would be with me. No one ever came. Horrible service, extremely rude.
60 dollars for two beers and two sandwiches...it felt like a scam
The food was good. The place was also beautiful. But the terrible service made this whole experience uncomfortable. Didn't come to take order for 30min. Didn't bring the ordered coffee at all. Even if I personally called some other serving staff, she didn't bring the bag as requested to pack the rest of the food. Another 30min passed and nobody came back to make a payment. Finally went to the Bar near kitchen and asked them I'd like to pay. Finally they called a girl. That was one terrible service experience.
If you want to wait 40 minutes for some scrambled eggs and bacon, this is the place to go.
I always come to Books and Books as I enjoy supporting local businesses. Their bookstore is amazing. However, their cafe has been slacking and continues to. I waited for 30 minutes for someone to give me just a menu. I was sitting there making eye contact with the waiters, and crickets. Very disappointed with the customer service lately. Do not eat at the cafe.
Slamming plates, outwardly complaining, looking disgruntled and trying to remove a plate while someone is still eating from it. All things experienced during my latest visit. Isabella had the most deadpan and unpleasant attitude I've ever experienced. She was emotionless and clearly didn't want to be here. This place has definitely taken a turn and not a good one. The bread wasn't toasted enough for the ceviche, the crackers for the dip weren't the ones usually served and our food came out of order. While the food was still good the atmosphere that was created made the whole experience shameful.
5 minutes to get noticed by the server. Then, after ordering three simple coffees (espresso, macchiato, and latte), they took 15 minutes to get back to us. It's not worth your time, even if you just want to chill reading, work, or whatever... Also, the quality of the coffees was not as expected, and the quantity was less than desired. It does have a nice atmosphere, but I won't give them the pleasure of having more stars for that.
I feel compelled to share this review as a warning for anyone with food allergies. I have visited Books & Books Cafe many times and used their study space. Service is usually slow and inattentive, but last night it was unacceptable. I asked my server if the carrot cake contained nuts due to my allergy. His response was “No, it has chocolate chips.” It arrived to my table very clearly containing nuts, so I asked the person that brought it to me about the nuts and a third person came to my table to help. I asked which nuts were in it (because there are a few I can have) and was told almonds, but it looked like walnuts maybe, so I decided I didn’t feel comfortable eating it and declined the carrot cake. My server returned, didn’t mention the mistake, and asked if I wanted something else. I said no. When I went to pay the bill with a fourth person, the carrot cake was still on it. I explained the situation and was told that the pastries are made somewhere else, so they can’t guarantee any cross-contamination. I understand this and that outsourcing pastries is common practice, but this information should have been provided to me when I first asked about the allergy. The cake was removed from my bill, but no apology or solution was offered. I did not receive an apology from anyone and will not be returning due to safety concerns and a lack of accountability.
It’s a very pretty place and I love supporting the bookstore, but the cafe is not great. I ordered an iced matcha and it was all milk—basically a barely even light green color. It wasn’t drinkable and I left the whole drink. I also ordered the labneh starter because I really enjoy labneh, but it was just a few simple cherry tomatoes and the cucumbers had no oil or seasoning. The labneh was very plain and it had extremely little seasoning so it did not pair well with the pita. This was both $30 which I feel was not worth for the quality of the food I had. It’s a cute place to eat with friends, and I’d get a baked good or sweet treat, but I don’t recommended their starters or drinks. My friend had a latte that was also all milk. But, her pie was good. The service was also mid as it AT LEAST took 30 minutes every time to come check on us to take our order or get the check.
