Ai Balestrari Milano Reviews
The place was amazing and the atmosphere felt really cozy. The service was great as well and the waiters were pleasant to talk to. We tried their carbonara for which they are known for and I can see why now. We also had their roman meatballs and freshly baked focaccia. We paired our food with a really nice Italian wine. If you are looking for a more local restaurant to enjoy authentic Italian food, then you must try this.
On our first night in Milan, we made reservations for our group of nine at Ai Balestrari sul Naviglio Pavese through The Fork app, which gave us a 20% discount on the 'a la carte' menu. Upon entering, we were immediately struck by the restaurant's warm tones and welcoming ambiance. The festive Roman spirit was evident in every detail, making us feel right at home. From what I can see, there were more locals than tourist dining in, which is a good sign. Despite a slight language barrier--as we were trying our best with Italian--the staff was incredibly accommodating. Being so thirsty from our walk, we thought we ordered one cup of water for each person. The staff sweetly misunderstood and brought a full large bottle of water for each of person (total of 9 bottles)! We found it amusing and were happy to have the extra hydration. When our food arrived, there was a moment of complete silence as our large group was too busy devouring the delicious traditional Roman dishes. From pasta to bruschetta and drinks every option was incredible. We had a lot of tiramisu throughout our trip, but I have to say, Ai Balestrari's was the best! It was the perfect end to a long day, and Ai Balestrari sul Naviglio Pavese certainly did not disappoint.
Amazing place! The focaccia and drinks – limoncello and white beer – were excellent. The carbonara was an absolute masterpiece, I’ve never had better pasta. Service was top-notch – professional and friendly. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience authentic Italian cuisine.
We went here because of a tiktok video. The food, we both had Spagetti Carbonara, was absolutely wonderful and super tasty! Would definitely recommend 👌 we also had the Bruschetta and the olive oil was so good! The Tiramisu after was a great ending for a great evening! Our waiter was absolutely brilliant and super nice 😊
Andrea was our waiter and he was so funny. Ask for him if u can. We had the best time with him. In addition to that, the food was beyond amazing. I mean top tier. We got 3 bottles of the Chianti wine which was perfect. My cacio e pepe was also so good. We all loved our pasta. ALSO the meatballs wow. And the bread. I’m so happy we came here. No complaints at all. Highly suggest coming to this place!!!
Yuri, our server, was so accommodating. We wanted to speak/practice speaking in Italian and he made us feel like we did ok! He offered great suggestions for wines, appetizers, entrees, desserts based on our preferences. It was a great experience! Highly recommend! Try the fried risotto balls mix of 4 different fillings! Reservations might make it easier as this place is popular for good reason!
A really good experience. Excellent food, including gorgeous fresh pasta, good wine, friendly service, and all at very reasonable prices. I hope to return!

We had an absolutely delicious meal here last night. The carbonara was delicious (although very filling!!!) and the ambience was lovely!!

(Cons) Arrived at 2:25 pm after walking in the rain, soaked head to toe. The first thing the owner told me was, ‘You’ve got 5 minutes to order,’ while giving me the cold shoulder. This is not how you greet a customer. I don’t care how good your food is—this attitude is just rude, buddy. (Pros) The pasta was good

The service was great and friendly and the cold starters were allright. Unfortunately we couldn't say the same about the pasta. It was neither italian nor eatable and had the sole purpose of fillin…
The food was disappointing — bland, lacking any real flavor, and served cold because dishes were carried through the outdoor area before reaching the table. After the starters, the cutlery wasn’t replaced, so we had to continue eating with the same utensils, which also kept sticking to the tablecloth. The dining room was extremely hot and uncomfortable. A service charge was added, yet the overall quality didn’t justify it. The starters felt like basic street food with nothing memorable about the taste. We tried the carbonara and the octopus pasta, and both dishes were very, very unappetizing. Overall, not a place I would recommend.
