Ottocene Milano Reviews
Owner took time to explain bottles on the wine list based on our taste preferences. The food is a tsaty blend of Italian with some Mexican influences. We very much enjoyed the experience.
We were staying in the same street as Ottocene and decided to try it given the convenience and the reviews. Well, like many others we loved it … and, like many others, we decided to revisit it again before we left Milan. The second visit was just as enjoyable as the first. The food is creative and bursting with flavour. Jacopo chose our wines to match and each was a masterstroke in food pairing and also pushed our boundaries with grapes that were unfamiliar with. We cannot recommend Ottocene highly enough.
Before leaving Milan, I was eager to try a wine tasting experience and learn more about the world of wines. After searching online and finding most places fully booked, I stumbled upon an Airbnb listing titled “Wine Tasting with the Most Italian Sommelier in Milano.” Thankfully, we managed to secure a last-minute spot. The experience took place at Ottocene, a restaurant I had passed several times and had already caught my eye. Jack, the owner, welcomed us with genuine warmth and effortlessly brought the whole group together. We mingled, exchanged stories, and shared fascinating conversations before diving into the wine experience. It’s hard to put into words just how incredible it was. Jack’s detailed explanations, his way of teaching the basics, and his attentiveness after each tasting made the whole experience unforgettable. His charm and passion for wine left a lasting impression on me, I didn’t want the evening to end. After the tasting, we decided to stay for dinner with the same group, choosing the unique tasting menu. Each dish transported us to a new world, and the dessert—oh my—was simply heavenly. We left that night not only enriched by a beautiful wine journey but also having shared delicious food and heartfelt moments with wonderful people. This is an absolute *must* for anyone visiting Milan, a full sensory adventure that nourishes both palate and spirit.
had a great dinner here. for antipasti we tried the salsiccia di bra and camaro carbonara. the calamari was very tender and surprisingly goes well with the carbonara sauce. the salsiccia di bra was paired with crispy potato millefoglie and it was so good. then we ordered a genovese with a flavorful savory ragu and an aguachile with very fresh seafood that’s perfect for summer.
Incredible experience! The sponge pasta with truffle was one of the most unique and delicious dishes I’ve ever had. Jacob, the owner, was an amazing host - warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about wine. 100% recommend and can’t wait to come back!
We found this restaurant on Google Maps amongst a sea of other well rated restaurants but what drew us to this one is the Chefs Testing Menu and Wine Pairing. Even though we arrived late, 9:30PM, they were able to accommodate us. The food and wine was amazing! The waiter told us about the wine served with each course and why it was being paired. The best part of the evening was the food though with the standout being the squid and pork carbonara and the sponge pasta (made in a crepe like fashion, we asked) with pesto and walnut sauce. Naturally several of the dishes used olive oil which was some of the richest one ever had, and left is soaking it up with the break as to not waste a single drop. We're only in Milan for two nights and we're struggling with the decision about coming back for the second night or going to another restaurant.
The conversation with Jack, the coffee, wine, food and the service were all impeccable. It was my first time in Milan and he recommended where to go and eat after lunch, while picking the perfect wine to match my meal and my flavor profile. I absolutely will be going back on my next trip to Milan.
Jacopo and his partner have created an incredible restaurant with an amazing wine list! Contact them about a wine tasting beforehand and then stay for dinner. He has some fantastic hard-to-find Italian wines from small producers, tiny vineyards that he knows the stories and micro-climates of. He knows just what to pair with each dish!
We were the first to arrive on a Monday evening and had the place to ourselves. The room is decorated with wine bottles on the walls with messages and drawings. Very charming. We ordered the squid carbonara and the a genovese pasta. Tasted absolutely amazing. Will be back and try some wines in the future.
If I could give this place 10/5 stars I would. Absolutely amazing! We ordered the carbonara, the pasta with truffle, the pasta with meat and the tacos and it was all to die for! The quality of the food was fantastic, and the wine selection the owner offered us was amazing as well. The place it self is super cute inside and cozy and the concept is unique and different. For sure I will be returning next time I come to Milan and I hope you have the opportunity to eat here as well. Please don’t miss out on the wonderful place!
Don’t spend any more time researching, just go. We had the best time! You can tell how passionate Jack is about Italian fare and Italian wine by how much time he is willing to spend explaining the dish, it’s roots, and why it’s on the menu. When we walked in, we basically had a mini wine tasting because he wanted to be sure we got exactly the wine we’d love, and he hit it out of the park! My traditionally non wine drinking husband even loved his recommendation. We had the calamaro carbonara starter which was AWESOME, especially with the focaccia bread that he brought out. Then we had the A’Genovese and Croxetti Al Pesto Vero, both of which were outstanding, but the A’Genovese was truly the best. We finished with the Li Li Li Lingua di Gatto, a pistachio cannoli, and coffee. Again, outstanding. The atmosphere, food, wine, and great hosting from Jack were just phenomenal and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience here. When we got the bill, my husband (who is notoriously cheap) said: “I would’ve paid double for this”. You’ll love it!
Great local spot; had the four course wine pairing menu. Given the heat (36 degrees!) it was kept light and refreshing which was perfect. Food was tasty, especially the olive and cornflake (!) crusted tuna. Dessert could have used some strawberries to freshen it up, but otherwise a great meal. Wish I got the name of the guy who let us sit despite no reservations and a huge party coming in behind us. Service was awesome.
Located near Porta Venezia, it offers an excellent and selected menu. Food is very well prepared and tasty. Atmosphere is very cozy with the "drunk and signed" bottles hanged on the wall.

We enjoyed a 2 hour wine tasting with Jacopo. He is so knowledgeable about wine and makes the experience a lot of fun. We stayed for dinner that was very delicious. We had a wonderful time.
Great food, friendly host and excellent wine; highly recommended. Off the beaten path but worth the trip. Fried mushroom appetizer was great so was the rigatoni.
We went to celebrate my mother's birthday and the staff was extremely nice, they even complimented her on dessert. A relaxed atmosphere with exquisite wine selection and delicious food.

Great food but the restaurants space needs to update the lighting. the bright spotlights in the ceiling were a big turn off and a more ambiently, warmly lit space would create a much more enjoyable experience for the visitor. 🙂
