Old Monterey Café Monterey Reviews
Very friendly staff! Excellent food! Hash and eggs was a 10 out of 10!
Really nice place. They have a wide range of breakfast and sandwich options. Their crab Benedict is the most flavorful Benny I've had! The eggs and calamari are great. Coffee is good as you would expect for a small cafe. The decor is nice, noise level was calm just as they opened. Didn't have a long wait for the food, and they were quick to refill the coffee.
This restaurant was awesome! What made it awesome was the small atmosphere being close to other people made feel like I was with my family. We served as soon as we stepped in, we were seeved coffee ☕ so many times which was what we were looking for. My friends from other states visiting me loved this Café and would liked.tp come here again. Recommended to everyone!
Warning: they add a credit card service fee! Excellent breakfast restaurant! I have eaten here for years and never a complaint. Today I had the eggs Benedict with homemade hollandaise sauce. Delicious. Service is good and prices are good. They are very popular and can be crowded. Be warned! They do add a credit card fee of about 3% (that's a guess. I'm not good at math.).
Good coffee, unbroken hollandaise, perfectly poached egg and friendly staff all in a welcoming environment. Hash browns could be crispier, but I didn't ask for it so there ya go. Large menu showcasing the kitchens skill at variation of similar local ingredients. Would absolutely recommend
I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a while, but it’s always busy which makes sense now that I’ve finally had the chance to visit! I stopped by on a weekday and got to fully enjoy the experience without the usual crowd. The interior is beautifully decorated with old vintage signage, giving the place a cozy and nostalgic vibe. It’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming atmosphere. the staff made us feel right at home. They greeted us immediately and were on top of their game with customer service, it’s clearly a priority here. The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered the chorizo with eggs and eggs Benedict, and I was blown away by how generous the portions were. They don’t hold back when it comes to serving up a full plate! Every bite was delicious, and you can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients. If you’re in the area, this is a must-visit breakfast spot. If going on a weekend then plan to arrive early since they’re very busy on weekends.
This breakfast spot is fantastic! The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. I tried the avocado turkey eggs Benedict, while my wife enjoyed the banana pancakes, and our son loved the kids menu French toast. No complaints – everything was superb. The cozy atmosphere of the place just added to the overall experience. If you're ever in Monterey and craving a delightful breakfast, I highly recommend checking out this gem.
Atmosphere is interesting with a lot of cute frames on the wall to admire. Seating a bit crowded, but expected for a popular spot. Pancakes are the best thing I tried on the menu. Huevos rancheros were alright, but some of the better ones I’ve had at a restaurant. Server was on top of everything despite having about 8 tables. Definitely the best pancakes I ever had tho.
This place was good, if you are visiting Monterey and looking for a local breakfast place I would recommend. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was a bit over cooked and I needed to add a little salt. Hash brown were crispy and I also ordered a biscuit and gravy which was good. My wife ordered Spanish omelette. The sauce was actually delicious. My son ordered oatmeal which he devoured. Definitely will be back.
So mixed review here. Been a couple of times and have enjoyed the food, service and overall experience. Most recent experience was as usual however was somewhat surprised when we received the bill. $55 (not including tip) for 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, side of bacon, hashbrowns and coffee for my wife. Also, coffee was charged by the cup ($4.50 per). Ouch. Know costs have gone up but seemed a bit rich.
The food was really good and the whole restaurant atmosphere is a vibe✨ Definitely a fun local breakfast spot. I’d love to give this place a 5 star review…the only thing that was disappointing was the waitress, though sweet and helpful, happened to add a bunch of $3 add ons that I didn’t ask for. It made my $17.25 meal into a $30 meal. By the time I noticed, it was too late and I couldn’t do anything about it. Not the end of the world but it wasn’t necessarily what I was hoping to start the day with🙃 overall a great place though! Definitely worth a visit!
I had really high hopes for this place. I always go to establishments with a 5-star mentality, and unless things go explicitly wrong, 5-stars it is. Myself and a friend came here for a late breakfast on 6/20. Upon arrival we waited to be seated and though I made eye contact with staff multiple times, no one came to seat us for multiple minutes. We asked to sit outside because my friend loves being under the sun. Not once, not twice, but three times the staff tried to discourage us from sitting outside saying “are you sure?”. Ultimately we sat inside…I found it off putting but was fine to brush it off as I dont care that much about where I sit. When the server finally came to take our order she was so rude and curt and practically snatched our menus from us so quickly that I didn’t even finish ordering before she walked away. She didn’t even ask for our drink order! When the food finally arrived I had high hopes but was immediately let down. For a place that offers six different types of Benedict’s, you’d think they would nail the prep. Unfortunately the eggs were cooked all the way through, and there was 1 tablespoon MAX of hollandaise sauce. The dish itself was really underwhelming and bland, I had to drown it in hot sauce. The hash browns were fine, but nothing special; just what you’d expect. When I asked how much a side of sausage was, she said about $4. I said ok, let’s add that. Firstly, she didn’t even remember to bring out the side, AND when the check was brought out, it was $7!!!! Four dollars was pushing it for a little side, $7 for what I got was outrageous. No one checked on us a single time after bringing out the food. All in all, I was hoping for a great experience and decided the negative reviews wouldn’t be my experience as I am generally easy to please, optimistic and easy going, but I’m sad to say I was really disappointed. I wouldn’t go back.
