The Crown Jewel of Monterey Breakfasts If you only have time for one big meal in Monterey, make it this one. My wife and I both agreed this was the best meal of our entire trip. To be fair, she might be a little biased because breakfast is her absolute jam, but the quality here is undeniable. The Food & Drinks We decided to branch out with our orders, and nothing disappointed: The Poblano Chile Omelet: I went with this savory choice, paired with a classic drip coffee. The omelet was flavorful and hit the spot. The Breakfast Burrito & Chai Latte: I actually had to sweet talk my wife into the burrito, as she wasn't originally planning on it, but she paired it with a chai latte and ended up loving it. The Fresh Blackberry Jam: I’m not usually a jam person, but I couldn't pass up the fresh blackberry jam on my toast. It was incredible—honestly, total drool-worthy material. The Atmosphere & Seating The location is stunning, but you have to be strategic. We managed to snag prime seating on the patio overlooking the waves. Even if it’s a bit brisk, they have heaters available so you don't have to worry about getting cold while you enjoy the view. Pro Tip: Timing is Everything Come in early or be prepared to wait! We timed it just right, but by the time we finished and were heading out, the line was already out the door. This place is clearly no secret, but for a view of the water and that blackberry jam, it is worth every minute of the wait.

Came right as they opened for breakfast. I see why there is a hype for this place. I got the steak and sunny side up eggs. The fellas ordered the blueberry pancakes with strawberries on top, and the bacon avocado omelette. The hot pepper sauce was great as well, nice heat to it.

Literally a perfect breakfast! Food was high quality, piping hot, and made with care. I absolutely loved it. I wish more restaurants were this good!

This was hands down the best Steak and Eggs I’ve ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and paired beautifully with the eggs. A brilliant touch is that the Eggs Benedict sauce comes on the side, letting you control every bite without overpowering the dish. The music sets an amazing vibe—relaxed yet lively—and elevates the whole experience. To top it off, the stunning view of Monterey Bay is simply breathtaking, making this not just a meal, but a memorable moment where great food, atmosphere, and scenery come together flawlessly.

The food here is delicious. Went on a Monday holiday and it was an hour wait time. Server came to the table a couple times and that was it. Maybe because they were busy but will definitely come back when it's less crowded. We had never been to this place and being from the area all my life it was a great new spot for us to come to.

Greatest breakfast spot in the area even the veggie omelette tasted good which is shocking for me. They have fresh juices as well. The grapefruit juice was delicious. They say they have a long wait time but they called us back for the next available seat in 10-15 minutes rather than 30 minutes. So go early.

One of my favorite restaurants for breakfast/brunch in Monterey. The food is abundant and delicious, the staff is friendly, the ambiance is pleasant and you get a nice ocean view. To avoid a long waiting list, I recommend to get there before 9:30am.

We would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re anywhere in the area. The ambiance is welcome and cozy, the staff are highly attentive and friendly, and the food is sooo delicious. Fresh ingredients and very good selection of options and drinks. If you didn’t arrive early for breakfast, it’s still worth the wait.

Nice food and really quick service! We had the pancakes and salmon eggs Benedict. The orange juice tasted a bit off, but maybe that was the variety used, or perhaps it wasn’t fresh. Otherwise it was an excellent meal and really enjoyed our visit.

🌶The taste is not spicy,🥔and it has a mild flavor, so it's a good place to eat in the morning. The 🚣‍♀️ocean background and⛱️ beach beyond the window create a good atmosphere.

Selected this place for breakfast because of the great Google reviews and it did not disappoint! I had omelette and substituted the potatoes with cottage cheese and my partner had the corned beef hash. He said it was the best thing he had tasted since our trip in California started. Coffees were beautiful and the service was great 10/10!

Amazing breakfast at Wave Street Cafe in Monterey! Such a relaxing, ocean-side, beautiful ambiance. We really enjoyed the Brooklyn Benedict, grilled salmon sandwich, and cutie cake combo. The screwdriver and greyhound also were very tasty. Nice dog friendly patio. Fast and friendly service. Recommend!

Views are great. Outdoor seating is really cool. Got juevos rancheros which was delicious. Got halibut tacos at the table as well whixh were more of a healthy tasting option. White mocha was actually very watered down and not sweet if thats how you like it. Paper straws as a heads up for those who need that info.

Lively place with really good food. I asked a local for a breakfast referral, and he didn't hesitate to recommend Wave Street Cafe. We were lucky to be seated right away because as time went by, the line to be seated grew rapidly. I had the crab cake Benedict (amazing), and hubby had corned beef hash and eggs (he loved it). The vibe was upbeat, friendly, casual, and cool. We highly recommend it.

Very impressed. Menu is extensive in variety and has options for everyone. The portions are excellent for a brunch spot and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the area. The service staff were friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. The music and the decor adds wonderfully to the atmosphere as well.

Wave Street Cafe is a favorite of mine and my wife's places to go when we head out to Monterey. It's a very beautiful restaurant with incredible views of the ocean. In addition, they have plenty of shade and allow dogs on the patio/outside area. They generally have great food, with me enjoying the egg's benedict, but the staff is quite busy with the many guests so don't expect to always be asked for refills on coffee or water. In addition, there is a long wait time usually on the weekends, anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to be seated. Other than how busy this place gets, it's a great restaurant!

Great place for brunch. Excellent atmosphere, views, & service. The crab Benedict was delicious, something everyone raves about. The steak was more done than I wanted but was still good & I loved how that covered it with hollandaise & sauce & grilled mushrooms/onions. The prices were also reasonable to comparison to other places. I plan to go back some time. The hot sauce they have is delicious.

Overall not bad, it has a nice view of the ocean. I had a Honey Lavender Latte it’s a must try. Steak and eggs was good.

Be careful it's very hard to find. The food is pretty good, but there's onions on every single thing on the menu. Nice outdoor area with a good view. When you get to 550 Wave Street, the cafe is downstairs. I posted a picture of the placard. Couldn't find a name sign anywhere on the restaurant.

The food was delicious, but I felt the service can be better. First off, there were 6 of us, and we ended up in a corner with just one table. Our food and drinks barely fit in that table with the 6 of us. Our food came in longer than other customers that ordered before us (understandable since we had 6 people in our group, but then I felt rushed because they kept checking on us after the food was served and taking plates). The food looked and tasted delicious! Lastly, we tried to split our check based on items, but they could only offer to split evenly.

Genuinely not worth it in my opinion. The wait time was decent but the service was not good at all. Saw our server 3 times the whole time. Needed water like three times and there was nobody to be found. The food came out warm and had to return it to get reheated. Food was decent and could get better somewhere else. Was definitely not pleased with it.

I love the food here but I will say that the prices have become unreasonable over the past year or so. There's been a 23% price increase in just the past two years. Inflation is out of hand. Out of curiosity, who's gotten a 23% raise in these two years?

Came here for lunch and ordered the breakfast burrito everything was average until the end where there was cardboard in the burrito. When we finally got a someone’s attention the waiter came over and wanted to charge us claiming it was our fault that we hadn’t alerted him sooner (this was the first time since we got our food) also the cardboard was at the bottom of the burrito so we did not know until I was over halfway finished. Nice view and heat lamps but inedible food and a bit rude.

We waited over 40 minutes to be seated, only to be placed next to the trash bin. On top of that, an employee was loudly wiping down freshly washed cutlery to remove water spots, which made the dining experience very uncomfortable (especially since there were plenty of guests eating—I don’t understand why this task had to be done out in the open). There were also lots of flies, and the place felt dirty in many corners. During the busy hours, it seemed like they were short-staffed because it took a long time just to place an order. The food itself wasn’t bad, but the poor hygiene and terrible service made the overall experience unpleasant. I won’t be coming back just for average food in such an environment.
