Kicker's Morro Bay Reviews
My wife had the grilled salmon and I had the crab stuffed sole fish and we both had the same sides. The rice was delicious, the broccolini was perfectly cooked, and the carrots were seasoned so well! Both of our fish were cooked perfectly but the salmon stole the show. We were so surprised that on a Monday during the off season they would still be on their A game. What a great dinner and the service was great. The beer selection is awesome too!
Ryan is an amazing server with a great local guide to all that’s great in Morro Bay. Fresh local oysters and smoked salmon tacos in fresh made tortillas are major stand outs here. Can’t wait to come back and try other food items. Great views too!
Such a great find. The food was better than expected by far! We had the local oysters, mussles \ clams, clam chowder and fish and chips. Everything was fresh and spot on. I would recommend this to everyone. We will definitely be coming back to this place anytime we are in the area.
This is a very nice but not pretentious restaurant. I don't understand them allowing people with dogs in, it's ridiculous. The server was a pleasant person, the food was quite good! The fish especially. Probably could cut the amount of fries in half and tell them if they want more, they can make a fresh amount more for free. Great ambiance in this place. The rating of this place should be higher in my opinion.
The food great! Clam Chowder made fresh in house throughout the day. Fish tasted fresh, good texture, decent size with good flavor. We had the salmon and Red Snapper. Nice crunchy veggies on the side! (not soggy like many other places do) Our server Catherine, was full of good recommendations for starters, entrees, wine, and desserts. She was very attentive and upbeat. The prices were fair especially for the location. This was a great experience! We will be back to Kickers!
Food was amazingly good. We had the lobster bisque in a bread ball and the salmon tacos. We were shocked to see how good they were. the bread with the lobster bisque was excellent. We also have the salmon tacos, which we enjoyed. The service was really friendly and helpful. We love being able to sit near the window and see Morro Bay rock and the water. Just beautiful!!
Cathie is amazing! My husband and I visited with our 2 dogs and Cathie was just very welcoming to all 4 of us. Knew the menu and made great recommendations. Such a pleasant person to chat with. Thank you! Food was great and you had our favorite beer Spacedust! Until we meet again continue what your doing.
A group of us just went this morning and really enjoyed our experience there. The food was perfect...not a single thing to complain about, infact just the opposite. The 4 of us agreed it has the best breakfast we've had in ages. Heads up, it may take a little longer to get your food than what's normal, but it is worth the wait. The ingredients are quality and the dishes have beautiful presentation. In addition to the good food, Kicker's has great atmosphere with good music, and a view of the bay and rock. We'll definitely go back, we haven't even tried their Oyster Bar yet.
I had Lobster Bisque in a bread bowl. The bread was perfectly toasted. Perfect for dipping into the bisque. As for the lobster bisque, it was above average with some meat. Combined it was excellent.
Came in on a Saturday with a reservation for 3 and was sat in the booths with a great view. Noelle was our server who was super cool. I got lucky and was able to get one of the full crabs they had left and I was not disappointed. Will be back.
We are glad we stopped in for dinner. We were greeted warmly and we only had to wait a short time for a table. There are tables in the bar area and they offer full menu in the bar. Our server was friendly and efficient. Our meals and the bloody Mary were delicious!
My daughter and son-in-law were married in Morro Bay on February 22,2025. Our family chose Kickers to host a Welcoming Party for all the wedding guests the night before the big event. We had approximately 75-80 people invited and rented out the entire venue. The evening was a huge success. It was amazing to have such a beautiful event to start off the “Wedding Weekend”. From the beginning, Arturo Tapia, worked with us to make the evening exactly what we had in mind. He brought us in to view the restaurant, taste the food, sample the wines, and show us his impeccable customer service. Our menu was a buffet comprised of lobster rolls, tri-tip steak sandwiches, calamari strips, coleslaw, fries, and cups of chowder. All the food selections were excellent. The bar service was great. We had an open with plenty of beer to choose from and our preselected wines. We were able to bring in decorations to accent the restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, inviting and fun! There are large picture windows along the entire back of the restaurant to enjoy the spectacular view of Morro Rock. There is also an outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful sunset and watch otters playing in the water. I cannot say enough about the superb customer service and the cleanliness of Kickers. They set the bar high for the events that followed and we are thankful they allowed us to host our celebration there.
The Lobster Roll was delicious!!! We did sit for a while with our drinks empty. That was the only down side. Ice tea was good, food was good, atmosphere was good! Everything was good!
Their Morro Bay green grass oysters were really good. Very plump, semi sweet with a hint of brinyness. I'll have to take some home with me.
The local businesses in the area recommended Kickers for their fish and chips. That's a good sign. My server was Tabatha. Service was prompt, polite, and checked several times to make sure I had everything I needed. I did have the fish and chips. They were cooked very good to perfection, as fish should be. There was a lot of food. The atmosphere is awesome. Very clean, plenty to look at while you're waiting and eating. Boats passing by in the harbor. Very nice day, very good. experience. Definitely would recommend this place.
Delicious food! Definitely going back! However way too much ice in my mango drink and I wish the pasta plate was wiped to look less messy..I like to photograph the presentation of the meal December 2024: Delicious! Best Bloody Mary I’ve had..12/10! Really good Rockefeller and garlic roasted oysters! Great service!
So yummy! The Diablo Shrimp Tacos are so flavorful and the perfect amount of spice! The staff were very welcoming and kind. A mistake was made on one of our meals and couldn’t be fixed, and they were so sweet about it and just comped it! There was live music as well that was really good! Overall a very good experience, great staff, great food, great place!
My husband ordered the pork belly burger and garlic fries. I had the calamari sandwich with cole slaw; both were really delicious. We shared oysters that were fresh and amazing. The cocktails were really good too. Be sure to get the garlic fries, they're the best I've had. Our server Jeff and the atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. This is our second visit in 3 weeks, it's going to be a regular for us.
Absolutely delicious! Service was great- our server Ryan was so sweet and accommodating. Can’t beet the atmosphere and view of the rock and otters! Definitely will come back again!
It was simply amazing! First of all I want to say that we are Italian: this means that we are really skeptical about other’s coutries food (even if very often we are wrong about it!!). So, the food at Kicker’s was absolutely great.. The lobster bisque was unique, the fish soup (from their specialities) was incredible, the lobster sandwich was great as well!! Also, they have a nice wine list.. and all the wines are local! The service was really good, everybody was super friendly, we loved to chat with them.. they were very patient and interested to know about us. Last but not least: 1. the View is amazing, the rock at sunset is stunning 2. We saw a Sea Otter and some Sea Lion’s while having dinner!! They were so cute ☺️ If you are in Morro Bay (you should come at least once in your life) come and visit Kicker’s!
Best fish tacos and clam chowder I’ve had! Not skimpy! The waitress was amazing she even turned on the heater for me because she seen I was cold ! We will definitely be back ! We found a new spot !
Honestly the best spot in Morro Bay I’ve had, food was INCREDIBLE! We got the lobster Mac 10/10 and the fried Snapper Tacos 10/10 Ryan gave us Terrific service! 🤩 Not to mention the great view of morro rock
As recommended by our hotel this was a perfect spot for a date night. Really good seafood with a great vibe and views to die for.
Great new restaurant called Kickers in Morro Bay! Evan was the perfect waiter made our experience fantastic. Food was spectacular I can’t believe how much seafood they put in the dish! The atmosphere was chill and such a gorgeous view. Would highly recommend!!!
My new favorite place in Morro Bay. Our server Jeff was super friendly, checked in on us often and made sure we were happy. I had the kicker Bloody Mary which tasted perfect, along with delicious garnish! I started with the clam chowder, this is a staple for me at the coast. This was hands down the best clam chowder I have ever had! Their Classic Cod & Chips nothing short of amazing, from the freshest Cod I’ve ever tasted, to the melt in your mouth batter it was perfectly fried in. Don’t forget the “chips” those fries are delicious. Thank you so much Kickers for a seriously delectable first time experience at your restaurant. My family and I were stuffed, happy, and we will be back!!
So, the rock and roll fish tacos were the best fish tacos I've ever had. Was not expecting that. I used to come here when it was otter rock, but this new menu is excellent, albeit a little pricier. It became worth it when I had the fresh snapper in the tacos. They are a little spicy though! The menu doesn't describe those specific tacos as having the heat they do. Girlfriend had the clam chowder bread bowl and it was really good. But the fish tacos stole the show. Waitress was a sweetheart and the beer was cold.
Good atmosphere, food, and drinks. Athena was my server and she is very knowledgeable of the menu and the variety of oysters. Always smiling and checking if anything was needed. Thank you Athena. Food was excellent
Lauren was our server and she took great care of us! The view was to die for! Make sure you ask for a window seat, but most of the spots in the restaurant you can see Morro Rock. I got the dinner salad and kickers chowder. So good. My partner said that the crab cakes were the best he’s ever had! We will def be back soon.
Perfect place. Delicious food, great service, ocean view. I would especially like to mention the food. If you visit Morro Bay, definitely check this place out!
Went in just to grab a grink! Great service, great atmosphere, great view and a good drink! Will go back to try food next time! Recommend strawberry mojitos! ***Update went back the next day and tried the tri tip sandwich and garlic fries…definitely recommend! service was still fantastic!
Steak and lobster was on par. Considering my base comparison was Sizzler. So many places couldn't compare to the price . The crab cake burger was amazing. Worth the cost.
We were walking and asked a worker if they recommended any places to eat that has a patio so we could bring our dog she said that kickers would allow us to! The staff was very friendly, they allowed us to bring our dog (small frenchie) inside with us and they allowed us to stay after hours. They gave us extra food and offered water for the dog. Thank you Jeff for the great experience! Pictures are the garlic fries they were very good.
Cathie was amazing! She accommodated my mom’s special food requests with no hesitation. She was friendly and checked on us often. The food and drinks were delicious as well! ☺️ one of our new favorite places!
We had a group over 10 and they took care of us really well. Tvs around the place allowed me to watch the tigers playoffs game, but not to disrupt the feeling of a nice, intimate restaurant. With so many, it would have been easy to lose track of us, but everyone had their drinks full, our server took care of anything we needed. Great place.
I can just say WOW! What amazing service! Also the food was so tasty and delicious. We came in Saturday night and Noel helped us. She was fantastic and it was busy. But she was still so attentive. The rock n roll fish tacos were out of this world! We came back Sunday morning and boy oh boy! The food and service again was so awesome. Kathy helped us and she was already like a sister. She and Noel have fantastic personalities. So welcoming and great. Breakfast broccoli frittata was the best I’ve ever had! Did I mention the home grown coffee? Wow! Hands down- we will be back when we’re in town. This made out little weekend trip with our parents, unforgettable. They are elderly now and my mom even started crying with so much happiness. Thank you Kicker’s!! I highly recommend! ❤️ God bless this business.
My family was driving through on the way to Cambria. Quickly looked up local eateries. The Kickers menu and pictures looked the best and it was! Great food at a great price. We split the shrimp chilaquiles, fish and chips, and crab cakes. Everything was delicious. The garlic fries came with house made ranch that my daughter gobbled up. Ryan was our server and couldn’t have been friendlier and more accommodating. Will definitely come back next time we’re in town. Highly recommend.
Nicely prepared fish plates and quiet, humble restaurant. We like it. Especially with great view of sun set Only thing we can say 14 $ for 25oz beer is little bit stretch. But thanks, we are happy in general
This is a must return to restaurant We enjoyed the Shrimp & Scallop Amatriciana Pasta - $32 excellent - Marisco (Seafood) - $33 scallops, shrimps, mussels and claims excellent Event hough several mussels were not open. Our first visit was on a Thursday. Welp, went back Sunday for the King Platter-- no bueno old grease and too quickly fried. The batter didn't hold to the seafood. The platter included shrimps, a white fish, calamari strips, scallops and fries. Not too satisfied with the preparation of the king platter.
Addition to my earlier review~ On my most recent visit, I ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was amazing! Not a traditional style, but served in a huge goblet with additional chopped shrimp, celery, etc. in cocktail sauce. The main shrimp aren’t huge prawns, but there’s so much in the goblet, you’ll be quite satisfied. Kicker’s had been open one week when I dined. I have a feeling it’s gonna be packed during the high season! Clam chowder has an excellent depth of flavor to it. It’s higher priced than nearby places, but I’d say it’s worth it - in the top 3 in town for sure. Lots of oysters to choose from as well. The only slightly downside is that the setup lends to being decently loud. Very festive if you’re in for that vibe, I just prefer a quiet dinner. I arrived after sunset but the expanse of windows promises an incredible view during daylight. I look forward to the next visit with a view.
This was a true surprise. I go to Morro Bay often for lunch get my fish and chips. I have never been here to kickers. So we took a chance. The place was empty at lunch so we were kind of worried. But it did not disappoint. The clam chowder was hot and full of clams. And the fish and chips was breaded perfectly not too much breading. Serve nice and hot. A service was outstanding. Will definitely be back. Great views of the bay.
This place needs some improvement. Breakfast took almost an hour to come. Staff seemed too busy for the number of people that were here. I ordered a salmon frittata without tomatoes and got tomatoes and no spinach instead. Didn't get the bread. When it came it wasn't what I had ordered. Potatoes were sad and overcooked. Frittata tasted alright. Won't be back.
The view was nice and we didn't have to wait for a table. We tried a variety of dishes. The oysters were very fresh. Lobster rolls, and the clam chowder were good. The crab cakes, seafood pasta, and alcoholic drinks were only okay. Service was good, but it seemed like our waitress was covering too many tables (maybe short staffed?). And all of our food did not come out together. One person had to wait for their dinner. Overall, it was okay.
They just opened when we arrived. Although there was only one waitress working she was friendly but a little flustered. They fit one of our orders wrong so 3 of us had our food and one was sitting with no food which is never good and a little awkward. Breakfast tacos were good. Bloody Mary's were ok but they didn't use real vodka , view was amazing.
I was in town for work last night and wanted to eat somewhere close to my hotel (walking distance) chose this place because I’m a fan of oysters. I had the crab cakes, Diablo taco, and 6 oysters. The service was amazing, everyone kind, responsive, and gave recommendations. Last night at midnight I woke up very sick. Stomach was a mess and i immediately knew it was food poisoning. 12 hours later and I’m just now on the mend. The only other thing I had to eat before this place was some crackers. Accidents happen but food handling should be top priority.
The place was ok the service was ok but when I got home to look at my receipt that I paid I had a descrepancy between the itemized receipt and the actual invoiced receipt. Where did the extra 20$ go? This should be ilegal. I would have rather not paid a tip that was automatically added as she forgot to bring me the extra lemons I had asked for when I placed the order for my fish and chips....
We've been coming to Kicker's for the last couple of years when we visit Morro Bay, we have had a good experience and food was good, none the less our last visit this past weekend was terrible. First of all after being seated we were brought water our waiter reaked of cigarettes and it was made worse after he tried to cover it up with cologne. When we asked for straws we had to wait nearly 15min for the waiter to bring them. My daughter got a lemonade and accidentally dropped it on the table, we cleaned it with our table napkins and wiped the ice and drink back into the cup. When our waiter finally returned he did not offer any rags or other cleaning materials to help us clean, and we asked him if he could bring her a new lemonade. When he did and daughter was a bout to take a drink she noticed that there was the straw wrapper in the cup, well the waiter did not give her a clean cup even after we had told him we poured the spilled drink in the cup. My wife had to get up and get her a new cup at the counter. He never came back to further wipe the table nor to bring us new table napkins, so we ended up eating on a sticky table. I was really disappointed when our food arrived, the quality has really decreased. We had fried calamari and it was dripping oil, my son's tei tip sandwich was drenched in dressing with a very unproportioned amount of meat. I asked for no cheese on my crab cake and beef burger and it had cheese, I had to wipe it off with my fork. My son's burger was overcooked, and the tortillas from my wife's fish tacos were hard. I feel that the service was terrible, on top of that we were automatically charged an 18% gratuity, which on a $175+ bill does not reflect the service we received. There was also the 3% service fee added for using card which we knew about in advance so that was not an issue, but we were never notified that the gratuity would be added on to our bill automatically, and they still have the nerve to ask for an additional tip! We will not return to Kickers, hopefully you read this and improve the service and quality of your restaurant.
We considered this place for dinner, but decided just to do the oyster shooter sampler and try a different spot for dinner. I’m so freaking happy I did. It was our last night of our California road trip and we wanted to toast to a special week. First, we got seated and the bartender(s)??? never acknowledged us once. The host finally gave us water after 15 minutes, and then we were told our server would be over momentarily, which was confusing because we sat at the bar and were the only ones there. Anyways, we watched our bartenders try to figure out what our orders were for 15 minutes, which was… nearly the same exact order- two oyster shooter samplers, one of us just tried one different option. Finally, to my disappointment, they came out with just one sampler…after 20 minutes. Another 10 minutes and our second one finally came out. They were okay. It was a bummer we were never told which shooter was which, woulda been a blessing after what we experienced. We watched all the confusion behind the bar while we drank all, not sure if people called off or what the situation was, but I will never return or recommend this place ever. I am not one to leave a disappointing review, this is probably by far my worst too be honest, but this was overwhelmingly disappointing to say the least and hope they learn from their mistakes.
Great atmosphere but terrible food. When I walked in I thought it was odd they were empty on a Friday evening. There was only 1 other family there other then mine, I seen there food and it looked delicious but looks can be deceiving. The food definitely looked better then tasted. The clam chowder was nasty ni flavor, the fish and chips were oily and overcooked. And the lobster roll was greasy and not seasoned well at all. The best thing we ordered was my childs sliders. Those were actually good. The next morning I decided to maybe give the breakfast a shot because it was the only one opened in the area and I figured how hard can it be to mess up breakfast. When we walked in we weren't greeted at all and there was a man working there that was just staring at us so we walked right out again and never looked back.
Very slow service, under staffed! Waiter gave my daughter a dirty cup with a straw wrapper in it. Still automatically included a tip of $27 in bill for party of 5! Kickers has now lost a customer!
Waited over 10 minutes to get a drink order. Got the lobster Mac and cheese as a starter, confirmed with the waiter that we wanted as a starter, he delivered it 30 minutes later with all the food. Crab cakes were hot on the outside and cold on the inside. Waiter didn't ask once if any of us wanted refills and was standing feet away on his phone multiple times, even though the restaurant was only half full. Waiter walked by multiple times when we were ready to go and didn't bother to even to look. Food was good, but service was extremely poor, would not come back.
