Pizza King Mount Vernon Reviews
If you love pizza that is out of this world, well this is definitely the place
Great tasting and convenient location
I was blown away by the experience. It came well recommended but I didn't expect such good food and such great service. I encourage you to try the stuffed shells. It was sooooo good. The food was the right temperature and it was delicious! Also highly recommend the cioppino. It was beyond good. They have ample seating or take out if you prefer.
Do you remember the story of the little engine that could? Well this place is a perfect example of that; the food is okay, but has the potential to be great. I’d love to speak with the owner and see if he’d be open to some suggestions. We LOVED the stuffed artichoke!!! It was amazing. But the flavor wasn’t consistent when we visited the next day and ordered the same meal. Buffalo chicken pizza needs assistance, while the cannolis were impeccable. We need culinary consistency here. I’m giving them 5 stars because of the stuffed artichoke and cannolis, along with the friendly staff and prompt delivery.
Excellent, old fashioned neighborhood Italian restaurant. The artichokes are the best you have ever had, for sure. Had the tripe as my main course. It is prepared exactly the same way as the first time I had it in the early 90s. Simply delicious. And consistent.
No frills pizza joint with adjoining dining room. Pizza is pretty good, however I come for the dinners. Chicken Marsala, chicken parmigiana and seafood paella are all excellent dishes! Big portions and usually you’ll have a doggie bag! I’ve been coming here for years!
The pizza here is delicious! The zeppolies are to die for! They’re always very kind and fast. I usually call in and pick up my order. I’ve had pizza at quite a few places in mount Vernon, I’m confident in saying theirs is the BEST!
My favorite pizza place was closed so I thought I would try Pizza King, and what a mistake. First I ordered a large Tortellini in meat sauce, two meatballs, a Chef salad and a soda, this cost $45. The Tortellini had no flavor, their sauce tasted like tomato soup, it's like they open the cans of tomatoes and forgot to add any spices. I am amazed this place is still in business. Next time my pizza place isn't open, I will just order from Domino's.
I used to go to this place a lot 4 years ago but I will never go back after this last visit. It was so overpriced and they tried to pass off fries that tasted like they were fried in dirty oil. The meatballs were horrible. There was also no heat running, so we sat and ate with our coats on, what a waste of money.
Unfortunately I have to come back and edit my review. I ordered a MEDIUM pizza for $19 on Friday Dec 2nd, at 330pm and it didn't come till 5pm, and I had to literally chase after my pizza, I kept being put on hold and then told he's 5 mins away, then when the delivery finally gets here at 5pm, he tries to OVER CHARGE me for $23!!! So I'm like well send it back I'm not paying for a large pie when it's a MEDIUM pizza!! Then I had to call AGAIN, and I got no apologies, or I'll make it up to you NOTHING! I would think after all that I went through they should've offered me a FREE pizza next time,. Which shows me what kind of business this has become after years and years being in business. The food is delicious, but their customer service has gone down the toilet . I will not be ordering again unless I'm really stuck and can't get anybody else. Very very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE The 2 stars are for the food only.
First my pizzas were all mushed to one side of the box like the delivery driver was careless, not only that but I Spent damn near 30$ on a lg chicken bacon ranch pie that tasted like chicken parm and had no bacon . It just wasn’t good at all and ended up being a waste cause nobody liked it. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED and won’t be ordering from them again.
So I normally go to Anthony’s Pizza up the block at 208 Gramatan but due the owners being on vacation the shop is temporarily closed so I decided to give this place a try. I must say this is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a pizza shop ! first the staff was very rude and unwelcoming upon entering the shop I greeted all of the staff and said hello but I did not get a response. Then while I was putting Parmesan cheese on my pizza a guy working behind the counter wearing a Blue LA Dodgers fitted cap rudely screamed out at the top of his lungs hey you’re using to much cheese Stop put it down. Once he said this to me all of the customers in the shop looked at me and I felt extremely embarrassed. Being from New York City I’ve been to probably hundreds of different pizza shops and I’ve never once been told by someone working in the shop that I can’t put Parmesan cheese on my pizza. After I was told this I explained to the rude guy working behind the counter that the reason why I was using the cheese for so long is because although it looked like I was using a lot I wasn’t the container is just really beat up Therefore it’s coming out little by little. After I told him he didn’t even respond back. Aside from my horrible experience at this establishment if I had to rate the pizza on a scale of 1-10 I would give it no more then a 5. It Wasn’t the worst pizza I’ve ever had but definitely far from the best I’ve had $1 pizza in Manhattan that was better then this. The Pizza was extremely thin and barely had any cheese on it. If you live or are in the area and you decide that you would like pizza I would highly advise you not to go to this place. I recommend visiting Anthony’s Pizza at 208 Gramatan the customer service is great and the food is much better I promise you will not be disappointed.
I have been a customer for 30 years, This is the FIRST TIME I had such an awful experience. To begin my guest and I walked in for dinner after a really hard week of work. There was a large table in the restaurant the owners daughter from what we understand. Their children was running up and down the isle screaming bouncing a ball. The parents and relatives had no regard for the patronage. What disrespect and inconsiderate. As we said something to the wonderful waitress, all she kept saying is in sorry it's the owners daughter family. In the 30 years I have never experienced this in this restaurant. As we were leaving the owners family was laughing. I was really hurt and upset. I was hurt because I have spent so many wonderful years and enjoyed great food, but then again it was with the previous owners. I guess the new owners don't care. How sad.
